Thai salmon taco: 4.5 stars great flavor on the salmon with a delicious seasoning blend. However, topping were heavy and distracting from the salmon. Prawn taco: 3 stars good flavor on the prawn but completely covered up by the hefty toppings. I had to try the prawns plain to get a sense of the taste. Mostly would describe as the mango flavor with little spice from any habenero. Catfish chili taco: 3.5 stars , solid flavor but completely covered by the wasabi slaw. No chili taste was present. Would be more accurate to call it wasabi catfish- i happen to love wasabi but it still overpowered any depth of flavor to soley be a wasabi taco. The flavors overall were pretty good, however there was very little balance in the tacos. I recommend if you like a heavy taco, not focused on the meat that these would be the tacos for you. With a little more balance allowing the seafood and the spice blends to shine these could be top notch, but they fall short. I was able to also try the yellow fin tuna fish and chip special and I would not recommend that at all. The texture on the fried tuna was downright dense and poor. There is a reason tuna is typically seared and not fried- and this highlighted it for me. The standard breading was VERY light, and provided no texture or taste for the dense fish. I would only recommend getting a standard fish like cod, or halibut and with the beer batter for the fish and chips. Covid killed off our favorite chippie, Corbett fish house. After years of searching for a sign of life we randomly stumbled on Sellwood F&C and had a strong sense of deja vu. Turns out Jose worked at Corbett and is making all the original recipes! We've been there multiple times already and it's perfect. I was truly excited to hear that a fish and chips food truck had moved into the neighborhood. We arrived about 15 minutes after they had opened and there were already people ordering. I ordered the small cod fish and chips and the cod sandwich. It took about 20 minutes to come out (2 people in front of us) and we headed home. First off, the packaging is great- compostable fork, cardboard condiment containers and cardboard boxes. The sandwich was great! Nice flavor - onion, lettuce and tomato and good buns. The fries were spot on. The fish and chips were a problem. While the breading was crisp, it had absolutely no flavor. The fish inside was done just right but I had to use tartare sauce to enjoy it. Very disappointed with the serving size of my clams strips and cod. The amount of food I received felt like such a small amount that I decided to weigh the portion size to see if it matched the 6oz of protein claimed on the menu and found I was only given 4oz. The fries were better after they cooled off a bit, still very hot, nice that they were made to order, but just average and wouldn't make up for the fish at $30. The halibut was just ok, at least it did not have an off taste, and I have never figured out how cook it. But Halibut's in north Portland is better (not as good there as when they had a brick and mortar on Alberta Street, but their salmon is still really good, when they are there, maybe call ahead) and the Barlow Inn on the way to Mt Hood. The breading was even a bigger disappointment, thin, no flavor, or texture, like they never had a good fish and chips. To sum up the food is average at best, and for $30 not worth it. Was excited to order food but didn't realize it was gluten free till after ordering. No biggie, gluten free food can still be good and flavorful. No, these were not. First, the fish is cut up into chunks. I don't know if the batter can't handle the weight but I don't know why you'd do chunks. Second, the batter just sucked. I can't even describe the flavor but not great. The fries were okay but not the greatest. Was also disappointed with the coleslaw. There is also gluten free malt vinegar out there but they don't offer it or at least didn't let customers know it's an option. The people were friendly and if you are gluten free I'd say give it a try just don't expect much and maybe have a back up plan. read more
