I've lost faith. It's been over a month going through the dysfunction of just trying to get a maintenance tune-up appointment scheduled for my solar system. Perhaps they're too busy and system installations are priority? If so, just explain that to me instead of dragging me on from one person to the next at the company. I'm moving on. read more

I had looked at customer reviews of other solar companies as well as service provider comparison rankings for 2017. It was not necessary. Semper Solaris' company name and values resonated customer satisfaction, quality, honesty, business ethics, and integrity. Hayden visited our home and thoroughly explained the process. I was even given cell numbers of the team responsible for my home project...not many businesses do that. I also referred a friend. It was determined that my friend would not benefit from solar at this time - talk about business ethics! I would hope other companies would do the same but I'm sure there are some who would pressure the consumer. Semper Solaris, although a relatively new company, has a solid business model and, in my book, is an industry leader. I would use them again if I had to do it all over. Ray read more

This is truly a top notch company, with knowledgeable staff and installers, a well deserved strong reputation, and excellent customer service. I would not recommend Semper Solaris for solar as their customer service is horrible. The salesman will say anything but once you sign that contract they stop treating you like a valued customer. Be careful about trusting/reading reviews, especially on social media, as they will delete anything negative then block users from posting their experience with the company. Company is actively removing negative information about their company to make them seem better than they actually are. I went with Semper based on their online reviews almost all of which were positive. As a veteran and family of vets, I liked the idea of a company that works with military/ex-military although this just seems to be a marketing ploy as they didn't work well with this vet. They heavily advertise as military/veteran oriented but their company values and work ethic are far from anything taught in the military. The salesman was nice and worked with me in getting the system setup and designed. Once I signed the contract, the communication from Semper basically stopped. I was assigned a project manager that would not respond to anything. I asked a question regarding placement of panels that differed from the original layout provided (panels are set under a tree so they get shade for a few extra hours a day). The project manager never responded. After not hearing back I contacted the salesman regarding the change. She stated that she reviewed it with the engineers and the placement wouldn't change the output of the system (this was a lie as the output from those panels are about 20% less than similarly positioned panels) The project moved slowly from there with my only contact being an occasional generic email from a random person at Semper that wasn't specific to my project. At this point I sent complaint regarding the lack of communication to their headquarters staff. After my complaint to HQ I finally received a call to inform me when they were going to be installing (not to schedule a time that worked for me, they just told me when they were coming). Based on the timing and the attitude I got from the representative, I believe I only got this call because of the complaint. Otherwise my project might still be sitting around waiting for someone to work on it. Install went okay and the crew got most everything done the first day. One tech did come out the following day to finish up. He wasn't able to get the system activated and said he would have to come out the next day. He never showed up or called. I called customer service to follow up and the representative said they would find out what was going on and call me back. They never did. Tried to call the project manager but I was never given her contact information. Got hold of a rep via email and she called me back. Relayed the information to her and she said she would look into it and call me back. She never did call back and the tech never showed up. After a few days of not hearing back from anyone I finally got a call from someone that said the issue was likely as bad invertor and that they would have a tech out to check everything and that they would be bringing a spare invertor. Tech showed up and did not bring the replacement inverter (I guess they don't communicate internally either). He did return and got the invertor installed and the system working. That wasn't the end of my horrible ordeal with Semper. The final stage was setting up system monitoring. Spent the next 2 weeks trying to get the information so I could set this up. I even had the manager of the local branch in the emails but no one ever responded. After receiving no response I was able to get a number for the monitoring department. The tech informed me that there was an issue with the internet signal. I informed them that this was an issue with my ISP and that I had a call in to them. He then informed me that they would send a tech out. I asked why they needed to send a tech when the issue was on my end. When the tech showed up I told him that the issue was with my ISP not them and that I wasn't sure why he was there. He was able to get the monitoring setup for my system. For the cost of solar you would think that the company would try and work with their customer and try to communicate with them. I guess once the contract is signed they know they can't back out so they just ignore their customers and work at your own pace. As most solar companies offer panels from the same manufactures the only real difference is customer service. You are also stuck with the same company for 25 years since they cover the warranties. Everyone should do their research and find a company that ACTUALLY want's your business and won't just ignore you once they have your money. Semper's prices were higher than most competitors and I was hoping this would reflect in better service which they most defiantly do not give. read more

My experience with Semper Solaris was not very good. I had a ground mount system installed. The system looks great and the Technicians that came to install it were great. I am completely aware of all the issues that can and do happen when installing such a major system. During the installation my water main was struck. It was repaired to my satisfaction and work continued. When they needed to access the Power panel the stucco was damaged larger then what was needed. They repaired the issue and all was good. My major complaint is that no one from their office ever contacted me. Once I signed the contract with the sales person Ron Schaefer I did not hear from anyone until I called them. I was told that my system was still in the planning phase with the engineers and that someone would contact me soon. Again I waited for 2 months until I called again to get a status report. I was told that the project manager would contact me to set up an appointment. 2 days later Sam Porter did contact me to set up an install date. The technicians arrived on time and 1 week later the install was complete. 3 Days later the final inspection was complete and the next day I got my PTO (Permission to Operate) from SCE. Now that my system is on I still have not received any information on how to monitor the system. I guess my major complaint is that no one from the Semper Solaris office ever calls or emails me with any kind of update or status of the project. However I did get an email and voice mail from Kristine Frei wanting to know if I had the $ balance of the install. I get the feeling that Semper Solaris' top priority is not customer service. The management staff at Semper Solaris need to take a lesson from the lead technician that installed my system on how to interact with their customers. He was in contact with me the entire 2 weeks it took to complete my installation. Robert. read more

We couldn't be happier with our new roof, gutters, and solar from Semper Solaris. The entire process went smoothly starting with Corey, who was never pushy, he was knowledgeable and patiently answered all of our questions. It took a bit to get the ball rolling, primarily with getting everything together for financing, but all the while our project manager, Chris M. kept us informed and never left our phone calls unanswered, he was prompt to call back and get us answers straight away. Once the project started, it was a quick and painless process, the roof crew came and stripped the roof and left everything as neat as could be, they were clean and efficient. The crew completed the roof portion were amazing they completed it quickly, and mind you, our roof is pretty big, the solar panel fellows were nice, informative, and were done pretty quickly as well, no complaints, the gutters were the last to be installed and same thing, great crew. All the while Chris would show up and make sure we were pleased, and as I mentioned previously, he never failed to answer our questions or phone calls, and believe me, my husband is a pest on the phone! Just wanted to say how pleased I am with the work Semper Solaris did on my house. I had a new roof and solar installed and could not be more satisfied with the workmanship, cleanliness, & attention to detail. I never once had to go around and pick up after them, they kept me updated daily on the progress, answered any questions I had right away, and they finished on schedule. No beat around the bush or dragging feet with these guys they just got in there and got it done as they said they would. Highly recommend this company. The roofing crew was Chris, Leo, Tommy, Alec. Sam, the Construction Mgr, Electrician would be Pat Burke. Installers would be Adan, Dylan, Naif, Tyler. Our Customer Care rep is Veronica Mosqueda and she has been terrific. Super nice and follows through with phone calls and answering questions. I am very disappointed!!! On 3/24 Bill came out to give us proposal for solar. Which Bill had great customer service and did a great job! However we were promised a proposal within 48 hours. We never received the proposal. A lady called a few days later to follow up with our experience.  She asked if we received a proposal and i said no. She told me she would follow up on the proposal. A couple weeks go by and we have 2 other solar companies come out and give us proposals. Because we are wanting to get solar as soon as possible. I told my wife as a Marine Corps veteran myself I wanted to give Semper Solaris a chance. So she left a bad yelp review because we still did not receive anything from Semper Solaris. After the yelp review Bill's supervisor Kurt calls me and promises me i will receive the quote that day. Kurt tells me "we want to get you the best deal so that you can change your yelp review because that hurts our business" and he laughed. I was upset that he would say this and laugh. Then Shawn or Sean not sure how to spell it, called me from the corporate office in San Diego and ask me what happened. I explained and he told me he did get an email to follow up from the lady that called me about my experience. He continued to tell me Bill is no longer with the company,  this really makes me upset because Bill was great, this is not something you share with customers (made me feel really bad because Bill was great i understand mistakes happen but make it right) and if he should get fired what about the girl and Shawn that received the email to follow up? I believe they should be held accountable as well for not following up. It should not take a yelp review to get involved there was plenty of opportunities to make it right with us. But that is not all. Shawn advises me that he wants to send Kurt which is Bill's supervisor to my house next week to give me a new proposal on 4/27. I say i am good with that. Kurt emails me the following morning saying he heard i scheduled an appointment with the company next week 4/27 and he will be sending out a veteran employee. I respond telling him Shawn told me you (Kurt) were coming. Did not get a response. I call Shawn today 4/19 and ask him about Kurt coming out to my house next week. Shawn just said "I see here that they are sending an employee under Kurt" i said you told me yourself you were going to send Bill's supervisor Kurt to give me this qoute and he admitted he did. So i asked can you send me a quote by email because i really want to give you guys a chance and want to get this asap i been waiting almost a month. Like i told my wife because i am a Marine Corps  veteran Semper Fi which is where this company gets there name from which is disappointing! However i received the quote from Bernie and the quote is more than the first proposal. Bernie would be the 5th person i have dealt with in almost a month! I would prefer if anyone reach out to me in regards to this review i prefer to talk to Kelly Shawhan and prefer not to talk to anyone else. read more

I chose Semper Solaris because I am a retired Marine and I try to support any and all veteran owned businesses. I started the process in April 2019, we are now in mid July with solar panels on my roof but not turned on. There has been a lack of communication since I signed the contract. Its like they got what they wanted and forgot about me. The installation crew were arguing and cursing the whole time they were here, according to my wife, and that was another reason I chose a veteran owned company, to avoid contractors from who knows where. They broke tiles on the front of my house over a week ago, burnt my grass with the hot metal they threw on my lawn, and I still have a hole on the side of my house where the system is. The thing that pisses me off the most, is the fact that they gave me a $1000.00 in rebates which they didn't let me use, something a used car dealer does to get suckers in the lot. As a disabled veteran I am very disappointed. read more

No pressure whatsoever during our meeting, and all questions were answered clearly and with great knowledge. Our install took 2 days, and from start to finish the entire project including permits from the city of Menifee took 3 weeks and 3 days. WOW!! Excellent price and we couldn't be happier. We signed our contract in December to have Semper Solaris install solar and put a new roof on our home. Today, we finally have the system completed! 7/27/17. There were numerous problems with SoCal Edison, the roofers and the technical part of the installation but we couldn't be happier with the system. Although Semper seemed somewhat slow, their staff was AWESOME to work with. Kim Savaadra, Matt Ward and Sam were very attentive to our needs and made sure that all of our concerns were addressed. I believe what took the most time was putting a new roof on our house, so if you can do without that, I am sure it would take much less time! Bill Young was my salesman and Anthony Zelaya was my customer care representative. Both were fantastic. I took my time contracting, calling out five different companies for quotes. I finally narrowed it down to two companies and then went through countless reviews and learned about the equipment, inverters and solar panels that each company uses. I ultimately chose Semper Solaris for all of the above reasons along with their commitment to our veterans. Once the contract was signed and the plans approved, the installation day arrived. The entire installation was completed in about 6 hours. Then we waited for city approval and approval from So. California Edison. That took a couple of weeks and my system was activated a few days ago. I highly recommend Semper Solaris and I suggest you use Bill Young to get you started. He's extremely knowledgeable in the industry and is completely upfront about the costs and benefits. Mr. Young isn't really a salesman and I mean that in a good way. No sales tactics, no pushing for a contract, just information and a quote. Even though I knew I was going to contract with him and Semper Solaris right away, we waited for over a week before I called him to let him know. I kept expecting all the "follow-up sales calls" from him but like I said, he's not a salesman. I really wished I went with another company. The process seemed to start out fine but once things were signed our sales person never followed up with us and I had to call the company several times regarding our permit status. In the meantime the loan company kept calling (mulitple times) letting us know our permit was ready (they were contacted by the project manager from Solaris) and they wanted us to sign loan docs. I would not sign docs until I had confirmation. Since I was getting now where and the office seemed to have constant turnover and no one new what was going on, I was tired of repeating myself. I was the one to call the city to find out that the permit was ready and had been ready. The solar company was notified a week prior of the permit status by the city. I have the confirmation email stating this. When we finally got over that hurdle and and had a date for install, we signed docs and had funding in less then 24 hours. At first things seemed to be ok there was a team of 5 that came to the house and worked quickly getting all of the main installation done. The project was to take 3 days. On the 2nd day only 1 person showed up to install 33 panels on my roof, by himself. Up and down all day he went lifting, climbing and walking all over my roof installing the panels (this was a safety hazard for him as well as my property). At the end of the day, he stated he was done and completed and the company would be in contact with me by the following week to book the final inspection. The week had passed and no call. Once again I am calling the company to book the final inspection. The inspection is booked for 2 weeks later. On the day of inspection, a person arrives to test everything and receives a call from the project manager that he has to go to Home Depot to get replacement tiles to place on our roof. This I was told was completed weeks ago. So now my roof has been exposed to the elements for 3 weeks and this guy is now rushing to get this done before the inspector comes. The inspector comes and gives the ok of everything and the employee stays as he tries to get the system to come up with all of the green lights it is supposed to have. Please note he has been there since 7am and it is getting close to 5pm and still cannot get it to work. My husband comes home around 3pm and assist the employee in getting connected to our network. By 5pm the employee states he cannot stay and must leave even thought the system is not completely up. My husband was able to finally get all the green lights needed for the system to turn on, on his own an hour after the guy leaves. I was informed that someone would be back within a few days to pick up their ladder and remove all the bags of trash left behind from the job. 2 weeks later I am dumping the bags of trash away myself. We were supposed to receive a packet with all of our warranties, pictures of the roof during the install process and completion and what was purchased. As of Dec 9, we still have not received this information. From August to September a person from Semper Solaris called wanting final payment for work completed and I refused to give payment until everything was completed to my satisfaction. In October a new manager calls me by the name of Mr. Ward looking for final payment and I explained to him everything that has happened since the beginning. He insured me that we would get the final documentation and we would receive a $500 refund check for all of our trouble. BUT I needed to send the final check. I agreed to do so in good faith and still no resolution. I called today Dec. 9th to speak with Mr. Ward however they could not transfer me or give me a contact number. I had to explain things all over again to the rep and they created a ticket. That is why I finally decided to write this review. I went with this company because they were Veteran Owned and I believed they would do business with the integrity that was instilled upon them during their service to our country. I feel that from June 2019 to Dec. 9 2019 is long enough time to give them to resolve the issue. I am tired of the run around and after spending a very large amount of money with them for Solar, I feel they just took the money and no longer care of how they leave their customers feeling. I am not the only one this year who has posted on YELP with a bad review this year. This has to say something. read more
