What made it worse, it happened in the very beginning of Covid. My sister and I did much research and we chose the Sheridan at Cooper City. Not possible we could have chosen better. Clean, affordable and filled with kind and caring people. The food was great and the activities (led by Paula) were amazing. In mid 2020 my mother fell and had to have a second hip replacement surgery. In February of 2021 my father passed away. The Sheridan staff gave my mother extra special attention and she began participating (after much encouragement from Paula) many of the activities an made new friends. When my mother fell ill with a UTI in December and was hospitalized for 4 weeks before passing away at age 95, Mary Buchanan and her staff reached out to me frequently to check on her and ask how I was doing. They worked with me moving out and with all the little things that had to get done with the kindness and compassion that they showed during their stay. If you have a loved one and are looking for a quality ALF, look no further than The Sheridan at Cooper City. I have no doubt you will love Mary and her Team.

I found the entrance to be secure. I found the young lady at the front desk to be polite and welcoming, yet thorough. I met with Musi Gal, who is a sales counselor- and I found her to be welcoming and polite. She spent well over an hour with me giving me a tour and reviewing what options there were available. She was down to earth, very informative (more than just the ALF) and transparent. I had visited many other ALFs, and she was the most genuine. I really feel this is important with ALFs. I met with other salespeople for ALFs, and many were very "salesy" and in a rush. Musi took her time with and did not make me feel rushed in any way. She was willing to show me the many areas I asked about. We went through lots of introductions of people that worked there- but in a really authentic way. I asked to see the memory care area- and it is BY FAR one of the nicest Memory Care areas that I have viewed in the area. The residents in the memory care area did not feel like they were being "corralled" into a small room. There seem to be enough staff on hand to handle the "neighborhood" I was in. It felt comfortable for my very important family member. I feel that when my family member needs to transition, she will feel safe and like she is a part of another family. Musi did not give me any pressure and gave me the most information than any other ALF I visited in the area. The residents seemed happy and healthy! Check them out- they are well worth the visit!

I wish I can recall who told me about VIP care management, but I had to take a moment and tell you how they came to the rescue. From the very first phone call I made, I was completely reassured from the beginning that I was in good hands. And even today, I still feel like I am as I might have a question from time to time and I can always rely on this firm to guide me in the right direction. VIP care management was able to handle all that was required to get the Medicaid application process as painless as possible. They provided ample information as to what they needed, and I simply scanned and emailed everything to them and before I knew it, my Mom got accepted by Medicaid. They even referred me to an excellent edler care attorney that helped in the process of getting my mom eligible where I had thought it might not be possible. All of the staff were great, and especially Randi who I can say was like family when we spoke. Best thing I every did for my Mom and for myself! Do yourself a favor. Call them and see for yourself.

The transition from hospital to LTAC to acute care rehab to skilled nursing rehab was uncharted territory for me. I was overwhelmed with not only the crisis but the options, protocol and finances that this situation ensues. I felt completely powerless and unprepared. Sonya was absolutely wonderful. She calmed my fears - And took charge. She is a great listener and wonderful counselor and knows her field well. She advocated for me with the providers and facilitated the logistics with ease. I could never have done it without her. Very grateful and blessed to have found her. True caring professional that is worth every penny !!! Aces all the way !!!

Even though endorsed by a top notch Hospital, the service provided by this Agency, in our opinion,…read moreis mediocre at best. The Aides, for the most part, we did have one or two that were great, all come with a chip on their shoulders and do the bare minimum. The Office staff is horrible. As an example, we reported a worker, several times, who spent all day each day coughing and sneezing in our faces. Not only did they not remove her, but reprimanded us for bringing this up because according to staffer Orlette, we live in Florida and that's what people do in the summer, cough and sneeze hundreds of times a day. 12 hours a day for over a week coughing her guts out and sneezing. Just disgusting. Unappetizing, unhygienic, and dangerous. They couldn't care less. We had to call the Police to remove the sneezing coughing woman, because she started screaming uncontrollably at my almost 95 year old Mother, and then proceeded to yell at me, telling me that I should never believe a word my Mother says, even though she is 100% lucid, at all times. And smart as a whip. While the aides, for the most part, performed their duties, the stress that they caused in the home, defeated the purpose of having them there. One particularly mean lady accused my Mom of forcing SLAVERY because she asked for water with her lunch, and asked her if she could fold the linens that my Mom had washed and dried herself. And were still in the dryer. While the Agency claims "we can provide assistance with light housekeeping tasks such as laundry, changing bed linens....." this particularly nasty aide claimed that this was SLAVERY, a very poor choice of words, and attitude. A comment that could perhaps warrant some legal action against her and the Agency. As far as the water my Mom needed with her Lunch, the aide snapped at my Mom and told her she was absolutely not getting up until she had her own lunch. She was only scheduled for four hours that day, was 20 minutes late, took 20 minutes for lunch and was extremely nasty. This is the kind of service they provide. Then there was the aide that burned my Mom's home cooked meal, prepared with a lot of love, that she only had to heat up. BURNT her lunch!!Because she was on the phone. She also stole my Mom's expensive Organic Coconut Water, which is a very important and integral part of her hydration and electrolyte therapy. Unbelievable!! If you are fine with mediocre service for your family member, at $27 per hour, then go for it. If you expect the providers to be attentive and kind, caring and just responsible, then run the other way. Fast. The stress caused by this company is a Huge setback for anyone who is in recovery and needs good food, rest and peace and quiet. They absolutely don't provide an environment conducive to healing. Totally the opposite.
