Saw this place while driving home and went through the drive thru. Order the special with rolled tacos and asada burrito. The rolled tacos were really good. The burrito was ok, just asada and salsa inside. Wish there was more inside the burrito, like beans and cheese. I would have done more research on the menu, as the drive thru menu was limited. Will go again to try other food.

We were passing by & decided to give it a try...glad we did! It was tasty...one thing I'd change is getting my burrito tostado. We got the cali surf n turf burrito & we shared it half asada, half pastor. Great size for a great price. I love the salsa bar, they're all super tasty...my favorite was the creamy green salsa.. the service was fast & they were friendly. The ambiance was relaxing..we came early so there wasn't much people...we will definitely be back!!!

TLDR: I think I just found my favorite spot for tacos in San Antonio...imagine my surprise when I found out that this is a San Diego chain! This outlet of Senor Burro is in its own private lot - like the store itself, on the small side but very clean. (Apparently the store used to be a Subway back in the day!) Inside, service was fast and friendly, and the interior fairly clean. Ordered 6 tacos (2 birria, 1 pollo, 3 carne asada) and loved them all. The birria is pleasantly greasy and the dip that comes with them is flavorful and brothy. The chicken and beef street tacos were well packed, gristle free, and came with a delicious creamy guac sauce. Even the three salsas were good - the red and green have a nice spicy punch. The 'spicy' will burn your lips off, so be sure to have a high heat tolerance if you try it. This place scores a 5 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. Would be OK having a nosh here with Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Joseph good. Would be OK having a beer here with Jesus' Dad. 2 out of 5 stars: Come-to-the-Apostles good. Meh. Wouldn't have my last supper here. 1 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Nobody good. I wouldn't have my penultimate supper here, either.

I am a fetch user and fetch was awarding 30 points per every dollar for your total purchase at Señor Burro. They have been on my list to try so it makes sense. Came here on a late Saturday afternoon and went to the drive-through. Very friendly and accommodating. I asked for an item with no tomatoes. When I got to the window, I changed my mind and asked if they could add them. They did it without hesitation. They added in lots of mini pots of salsa, both red and green. Very full portions. Very delicious. Will be back again for a dine in opportunity. I had a crunchy beef tacos. The shells held together nicely with every bite. Flavorful meat. Came with rice and beans. A very filling meal.

Burrito showed up like it meant business--heavy, packed, and steaming. Tortilla was warm and soft without getting soggy, held the whole mess together like a champ. Carne asada inside was juicy with a solid sear, fries still crispy even buried in meat, cheese, and salsa. Not greasy, just rich and satisfying. Tried the surf and turf too--shrimp not rubbery, steak still pink in the center, and none of it got lost in the mix. Rolled tacos came out crunchy, stuffed well, and not dry. They actually tasted like something, not just a filler side. That drizzle of crema on top actually made them better, not just prettier. Breakfast burrito was almost too big to finish. Eggs were fluffy, steak again on point, fries again adding that crunch, and cheese didn't just sit there--it wrapped the whole thing together. Hot Cheeto burrito sounded like a joke until I bit in. Spicy, cheesy, weirdly addictive. It worked. Inside was clean, bright, actually looked fun. Murals gave it a kick of personality. Staff were quick and chill, food hit the table hot. Everything hit how it should. Would go back tomorrow.

Came on a Tuesday thinking I would get a burrito but saw the promotion for $2 Tuesday tacos and it changed my mind. I had to get the promotion and the tacos were really tasty. Ambience had some good music and colorful walls reminding me of how 90s taco bell used to have it which is a good thing these days. Service was great. quick and friendly. The aguas fresca were tasty. You get options of either horchata or jamaica. Def worth stopping by if you want some tasty mexican. I'll be back for a burrito.

I couldn't decide what to try at Señor Burro, so I went with a variety of their street tacos--Carne Asada, Carnitas, Pollo Asado, Al Pastor, Birria, and Baja Fish. Every single one was flavorful and well-prepared, but the Carnitas, Birria, and Baja Fish really stood out as my favorites. They're a little messy, but absolutely worth it. I also tried the Rolled Tacos with chicken, which were crispy and tasty, especially with the avocado crema. Paired with their habanero salsa, it's the perfect balance of creamy with a spicy kick. On return visits, I noticed they've started adding lettuce and tomatoes to the rolled tacos--a nice touch. I've already been back several times, and both the food and service keep me coming back. If you love great tacos and friendly service, I definitely recommend checking out Señor Burro.

Recommend: Yes. I came on a Friday night around 8ish and no one was around. I thought it might be closing soon but it ended up working in my favor. Ambiance: The place is very well lit, has plenty of parking and a drive thru option. There is sufficient seating and the overall location looks very clean. The murals on the wall tell you they originated in San Diego. They are very colorful and bright. There is music playing in the background. Service: Throughout my visit, i was checked on. Staff was friendly and made recommendations. Food: I ordered the campechana fries, fish taco, asada taco, and a tea. The campechana fries were thin, came with crema, creamed textured avocado, queso fresco, carne asada, and al pastor. The campechana fries were ok. I found them a little bland. I decided to put some of their habanero sauce and they tasted better. Their tacos tasted really good. I loved that they make their corn tortillas fresh, home made. It gives the tacos a really good flavor and texture. The Baja fish taco was probably my favorite . It packed so much flavor and after adding some habanero sauce it was that much better. The fish was crunchy and warm, there was a creamy red sauce, the crunch of purple cabbage, it just pulled it all together. I would def recommend you check those out. The asada taco was good as well. It had cilantro and onions, and their avocado sauce (I prefer actual avocados). The winner here for me were the fish tacos.

Service was fast. Asada burrito was good but I thought burritos automatically comes with rice beans cheese avocado pico de gallo but it didn't you have to ask for those extra. Anyway the asada pico de gallo was good. The eggs cheese and sausage was ok and the pork chile verde ok. Place clean and attendant was helpful. For now I recommend. I'll be back to try the tacos in home made corn tortillas and I will review again

The restaurant was clean as well as the bathrooms, no baby changing tables available. Service was great, cashier offered suggestions that did not disappoint. Seating available inside as well as outside. Kids menu available with either a bean and cheese burro or a quesadilla. I would recommend the California burro. Keep in mind that they are huge and my husband and I could have split one.

The food was alright, made me think of my hometown. Definitely was not the problem here though, the staff seemed like they didn't what was going half the time. Dropped off the food and left without asking if we needed anything else. Ordered carne asada fries with the guacamole that came in the fries to be put on the side. The cashier confirmed and when I got my food there was a lot of guacamole on the fries itself and an extra side of it. I was disappointed because once again my order was wrong. I decided to Senor Burro on the way to work. I got a few tacos. Al Pastor, Asada and fish taco. They had great flavor and it was fresh. I have tried the California burrito and it is huge. I could not finish it all. The horchata is amazing! Fish tacos here are cheap and will run you a $1. Come check them out! read more

I ordered 2 chorizo, egg and bean tacos from there and let me just say, they were really decently sized. This is our first time here and the service and interior is amazing. The cashier was so sweet and helped us find something good to eat, I loved sitting in there and getting my own salsa from the little salsa bar. My second time visiting this fairly new establishment. Senor Burro do yourself a favor stop by, the Baja fish tacos are delicious and there is a big selection of tacos to choose from. I had the shredded chicken tacos as well. The establishment is very clean and the employees are friendly. I also had the churro filled with Carmel, it was delicious and maid to order. I haven't even tried my food yet. Haven't even left the parking lot. Not sure that I'm going to even eat it. Yes I probably should've spoken up before I left the restaurant, but I think I was kind of still in shock. My burrito was put in the window on top of the receipt of what my order was. the guy came from around the corner, took it down from the window , with no gloves on and he unwrapped it and looked inside, wrapped it back up and then gave it to me. read more

First... order took 20 minutes off my life waiting in the drive through. Nobody was in line. Business was not busy. 2nd, I'm pissed off that a California burrito cost 14 bucks, and it was the skimpiest little thing I'd ever seen. This burrito was literally the size of a Laredo Q taco from stripes. For a business that offers "California" style Mexican food (pretty much just hijacked a menu and poorly imitated) I am offended being a San Diego- Texan. The meat had zero flavor, there was barely any carne asada at all. Fries were dry and there was no guacamole that I could find. Seriously, got two cali's, a bean/rice/cheese burrito, three rolled tacos and the total was 50 bucks. Now I don't care about the cost, I do care what I get in value. I feel this place needs to get it together. If your advertising burritos, then they need to be burritos and not little skimpy q-tacos. The rolled tacos were supposed to have guacamole, but they had some hybrid creama on them. They did not taste good at all. Disappointed because I read a ton of reviews, had my eyes on this spot for some time. Definitely not coming back. Thanks I really wanted this to be a spot I could have comfort Cali food. Hard pass on the future. Go take a southwest flight to San Diego... any taco shop will kindly show y'all what's up. read more

Excellent real Mexican food. Southwest style food of which we have missed since living in SA. Real asada fries using the thin fries not thick. Assortment of real burritos and breakfast burritos. Ok, we'd seen this place over the last few months but thought it was like a fast food taco place, like Taco Bell, Taco Cabana, etc. Boy were we ever wrong! Everything is cooked to order, the tacos are on fresh grilled corn tortillas, and the flavors were outstanding! Ordered a queso birria taco, which is a 6" double corn tortilla taco that I could barely fold bc there was a layer of melted cheese between the tortillas, and it was filled with so much meat! The flavor of the meat was like homemade, tasty but not hot spicy and served w a side of meat consommé juice, which when used an an au jus for the taco, was the star of the show. Really, I've had quesabirria in at least 10 local places and I haven't had anything close to this good. We also ordered several different street tacos, including carne asada and fish. I typically don't like fish tacos, but I could make a meal out of a few of these. Also, for street tacos size, and only $1, that fish taco was filled to the brim! The carne asada was good, and onions & cilantro are served atop all of their tacos, so if you're not a fan, ask for them w/o. The owner was so nice, explained each type of taco and burritos, which are made on a 13" tortilla. They can even fry the burrito to turn it into a chimichanga if you prefer. He even gave us a complimentary churro, for dessert. All in all, I can say I'd go back tomorrow & try something else. And the next day, and the next.....yum! read more

Every dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. This isn't your typical restaurant experience--the menu is creative, unique, and offers something different. Grilled squash that was on the side was good. Chicken enchiladas were good and had freshly sliced jalapeños, which is always a welcome detail. I wasn't able to taste the quesadilla but my daoughter said it was "really good". Fried Chicken sandwich had a great flavor and the bacon was actually pork belly if I'm not mistaken. Sadly there was more batter than chicken. The seasoned fries were delicious and crispy.

We started…read morewith the Pan Fila Conchota combo that is a combination of the two that is 1/2 gallon of hot chocolate made using a base of Abuelitas with additional cinnamon, and cocoa along with something special. It was delicious! The concha was soft, buttery and flaky, with just the right sweetness. We took home the majority of it and it stayed nice and soft instead of turning hard like so many others. We decided to try several appetizers to go along with our concha to get a wider taste of their food than we would by just ordering a couple entrees. Let me tell you, this was a great idea! We ordered the Tosti-Ceviche Verde, Panela Asado, Mexican Street Corn, and their Spicy Bean Dip. The Ceviche Verde was excellent, the freshness of the fish and shrimp was wonderful with the chipotle mayo and avocado. We chose to have it on the salsa Verde Tostitos and it was all great combination. The Panelo Asado was a completely new dish for us and was extremely good with a savory flavor from the salsa Tlaquepaque that mixed well with the Panela cheese. Their tortillas though not made in house, are made for them and taste like mom made them. The Mexican Street Corn was great and had the perfect bit of char taste from the corn. It was creamy and flavorful, we did think it could use just a tad more lime juice though. The Spicy Bean Dip was very good. You can't go wrong with Oaxaca, Chorizo, and pieces of pork mixed with some mildly spicy beans. Our server was fantastic. She had great recommendations for us, and was quick with checking on our drinks and generally helping us throughout our dinner. The food was prepared quickly, was hot, tasteful and refreshing. We definitely will be going back, and recommend Pan Fila to all of you.

The recurring major flaw, is the way the restaurant inside was designed. It is beautiful but made with all hard surfaces. Nothing present to absorb sounds. As a result sounds inside magnify to a point our servers have had to bend over or take a knee to gather clients food orders during busy times. I feel like I am ar a big Spurs game with the sound bouncing around. Those at our table have had a hard time to have a conversation with each other at times. The small room up front is designed so sound bouncing off hard surfaces is worst in this room. I have had to ask to be relocated twice from this room due the sound level. The kitchen area in the front do not have doors to abd from the kitcgen to the dinibg rooms. Another design flaw, as a result the seating areas loud sound comes into the kitchen area. I can not imagine how the staff communicate to each other in this work setting.

However, a recent policy enforcement has significantly diminished my experience and led me to reconsider my loyalty. To suit my busy schedule and avoid leaving my two dogs unattended in the parking lot, I began calling in my orders to streamline pickups. While call-in orders are typically collected inside the restaurant, I opted to use the drive-through window on one occasion because no other customers were present in either the restaurant or the drive-through. It seemed a practical choice--what difference would it make where I picked up my order if no one else was there? Had the drive-through been busy, I would have gladly gone inside to avoid disrupting the order flow, as I understand the importance of maintaining efficiency. Unfortunately, an employee informed me that call-in orders could not be picked up at the drive-through, a policy that felt unnecessarily rigid given the circumstances. Having worked in the service industry for years--and continuing to do so--I believe in prioritizing the customer, particularly loyal regulars who consistently support a business. In my own work, I go out of my way to ensure convenience for my clients, knowing that poor service could lead to consequences far beyond a bad review. Enforcing a rule that inconveniences a regular customer, especially when it serves no practical purpose, strikes me as a misstep. It also seemed that an employee was tasked with upholding a policy that a manager should have reconsidered in this context. This experience has eroded my trust in [Restaurant Name], leaving me hesitant to return. Regrettably, I've decided to stop visiting, a choice that weighs heavily given how much I enjoyed their food and the warmth of their staff in the past.
