Sr. Pan used to be one of my favorite restaurants but after today I'm not sure I will go there as often. I ordered a Cuban sandwich and a small coffee and was shocked at the total of $ 9.18 I've had much better Cuban sandwiches and coffee at much more reasonable prices at places like Marcella's and Marianao It would be a shame if they price themselves out of business. read more

Best Cuban food in Chicago and also at the best prices! The restaurant is also cute and the waitstaff super nice. I didn't have any drinks, but have had the black beans, croquetas (jamon), maduros, bistec empanizado, picadillo - all great. Portions are pretty big too...you won't leave hungry! Try it! read more

First time here and used a yelp coupon. First if you don't know where you're going you will pass it ,lol. so its right by the vidock next to the domino's if your wondering .It was a little packed on a Saturday evening around 5 p.m.It has a cool decor and I like how the waiters dress with the hats. Our waitress was named Gloria,who was awesome and so patient with us considering it was my first time eating Cuban.We got the sample platter which I thought was really good and pretty much gave you a taste of the whole appetizer menu. We also got the Cuban sandwich which was so fresh ,hot,and ready to consume.The pork could have been marinated a little more with spices and a tad more mustard and pickles but other then that it was great.Also when you check into the place with help you get a free Cuban coffee with milk with is great with dessert which we got the flan.Will be back :) most definialty. read more

I did NOT have such a great experience here as the other reviews. Ordered the Combo Empliadias..VERY GOOD! Sauce for "dipping" Outta this world Husband had the Cuban sand. "Good" I had the skirt Steak at 14.95...HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! Thin..VERY VERY THIN like a sand. steak. and tasted like it had been treated with a tenderizing solution and had a "rubbery" texture. did not eat it, brought most of it home and gave it to my son whom also (without provoking) said it was "weird" and he too did NOT eat it. No offense.. but then not wanting to waste the steak we gave it to our dog...SHE WOULD NOT EAT IT! The side items were GOOD tho! The sweet bananas were cooked to perfection! The Cuban rice? MEH..but it was my 1st time trying it. I asked for more sauce to mask the flavor and still could not eat it. Tostones...the sauce was VERY GOOD and they were fresh .. Service...HORRIBLE! I watched as ONE waitress services the WHOLE dinning room. .Now this was NOT necessary at all, for there was another waitress willing and able, but this ONE would push the other out of the way to take ALL the tables. She was dressed in a white tee-shirt, while the other in black.The one in black seemed friendly while the one we had wasn't at all, and she ignored my requests..like for bread and about the soup that WAS supposed to come with my meal, but she told me that because I chose the CUBAN rice I was not entitled to also have the soup....clearly the menu states otherwise, by a comma AFTER the rice selections...I wasn't going to argue as seeing that I didn't really want the soup, just wanted to know if I was SUPPOSED to be offed it. As far as the bread? Menu say's... that if you want it you HAVE to ask for it..I did and she ignored me. I was NOT rude or a "tough" costumer....I was pleasant and thanked her with each encounter, as well as my husband did. So if you are reading this and thought "well perhaps she was mean to the waitress" I wasn't at all. It is a saving grace that we brought a deal from YELP..20 bucks for 40 worth of food...we only spent 35 of the 40...we didn't realize that tho...and she took MY PHONE WITH HER and KEPT IT FOR OVER 10 MINS! In order to process my coupon she took my phone...I offered for her to write down the code, but she said she HAD to take my phone! Made me nervous to say the least. Yes they would have been held accountable..but in the mean time I would have been super inconvenienced! She should have took the code..and then asked me to mark it as used!! AND she ( in good business practice) offered the remaining 5 bucks to be used...we wouldn't have..but that would have went a long way. I am thinking that she is some way related to the owner the way she acted and her lack of service expertise. 3stars? Because the Empallada's were really good...and I would like to try the shredded beef...it was really tasty in the Empallada...and my husband enjoyed his Cuban sand. I would give it another try. Ropa Vieja empanadas! I've never been a fan of empanadas, but those suckers are great. My husband and I love Cuban food and have probably tried every Cuban restaurant/sandwich shop in Chicago, with the exception of Coobah because that doesn't count. Our go-to place used to be Habana Libre, but it seems their prices have increased with the amount of white people who eat there, and I just don't think a Cuban entree needs to be more than $10. Senor Pan is closer, cheaper, has a parking lot, and is actually nicer inside. I think we may have a new favorite. Stand-outs are the aforementioned empanadas and the medianoche. Haven't tried the ropa vieja meal yet, though, so one star is reserved until then. Bread is free, but you have to ask for it. Skip the papas rellenas. read more

A great place for you to take you friends or significant other. The mango shake is delicious as well as the yuca fritas. But unfortunately that is as far as I have gone on the menu. Their coffee is always stellar, though I do wish there were more milk options. Heard from a friend they had good Cuban food so I had to try it out, went with 8 people so I had to wait like 20 min for a table. Parked across the street since there isn't alot of parking, but let me tell you the food and drinks were amazing. We had mojitos and everyone had a different plate, I tried "Bistec Caballo", they called it, it was a great big steak sandwich. My son had chicken breast with fries, he loved that grilled chicken. Wife had Cuban sandwich, which she said had great flavor as well. Staff was nice and friendly. Worth the 30 min drive from the suburbs. read more
