I have been coming to Senor Tequilas for years and am so impressed with the evolution of this restaurant . The food and drinks are phenomenal - the chicken nachos and frozen lime margaritas are my absolute favorite. However, today I finally understand the true success behind this business and that is one of the owners, Alejandro Rivas. I work in HR and have been fascinated by the high performance of the staff at Sr Tequila. Over the years, I see the same faces but playing in different roles in the restaurant. Today, I had a conversation with one of the owners, Alejandro and I asked him how he is able to maintain a high performing and engaged staff. His response blew me away. Instead of giving me a 10 second off the shelf answer, he spent over 10 minutes engaging in conversation with me. Throughout our conversation he even paused to thank customers for their business as they were leaving. He articulated how he treats his staff like people instead of machines. He knows each staff member by name - he knows where they are from, their interests, their passions, their strengths and their weaknesses. He would point to various staff members and give me highlights. His team is diverse, both in culture and walks of life. He understands that they have a life outside of the restaurant and he respects the work life balance. He sees the potential in each of them and offer opportunities both inside and outside of the work place to show that he believes in their potential - he makes investments in them such as English classes and offers them an opportunity to showcase the role that they desire to perform in his establishment. I am in awe of his servant leadership - when you dine, you see him on the floor, bringing food to tables, checking in on his clientele. Alejandro, you are an amazing leader! I respect you and your vision. I will continue to patronize your establishment and raise awareness so other leaders and restaurant owners can follow in your footsteps. You are compassionate, attentive and a role model for owners in the restaurant industry. Your restaurant is an outlet for people to build relationships, self awareness and success. I had the Chili Rellenos plate with rice... flavor was good. Batter was a little heavy and the texture feels like this was in a warming plate or sitting around. Instead of that crispy batter is was mushy. It didn't take away from the favor but, I like the crispy fresh out of the oil texture. Service was fine... I had to ask couple of time for limes and Diablo sauce... the regular salsa is weak for my palette... I like that nice blow back that the Diablo gives me. So this is not a bad place to go. This is a great restaurant. The food is great- the menu has been recently updated and it's great- and the service is very good- with expensive restaurant team service at a reasonably priced restaurant. It is consistently good in every category. They have plenty of seating- we prefer the patio. But they have outdoor seating too. Of course the ambiance is outstanding and it makes every dining experience there festive. I'm very happy that Senor Tequila's is convenient in Germantown. Senor Tequila's is a restaurant that my friends and I often flock to win looking for a spot for happy hour. They have wonderful frozen margaritas, and although I am not a fan of margaritas on the rocks, my friends all seem to enjoy them. This is a restaurant that can get very busy during dinner time and happy hour, I would suggest getting there early to ensure that you don't experience heavy weight times or lower level of service. Each table is greeted with a basket of chips and homemade salsa. I highly recommend the guacamole and the fajita platter. Ill start by saying the food was delicious- every bite was full of flavor BUT I came here to celebrate my birthday- I stated this when I ordered my bottomless mimosa our waitress was strict on the two hour cut off time even though I ordered at 12:20pm I was cut off at 2 ( I didn't get my birthday song or cake) I didn't want to have to state it again- 2- we were a big group- a group of 9/10 people. My friend and I just had lunch at Senior Tequila's today, and I was blown away by how great an experience it was. First, we asked to be moved to a quieter area so we could hear each other -- it was a catching up visit -- and our waiter, Joachim, graciously moved us to a side room significantly quieter. Second, I asked for an off-menu item, huevos ranchers, and the chef kindly obliged. Third, our waiter, Joachim, listened and checked with the kitchen when I explained I have a bell pepper allergy. The allergy being uncommon, It's not always the case that (1) it's taken seriously, and (2) without eye roll8ng and the like. On top of all this, Joachim checked on us frequently and could not have been more attentive without being intrusive. This was by far one of the best restaurant experiences I've had. The food here is so bad. We were seated and given chips and salsa. The initial bite of salsa was gross. I spoke with the manager and inquired if the salsa was canned. He said OH NO. I asked him to check with the kitchen. When he came back he apologized and said it was canned because they did not get a delivery of tomatoes. This was a red flag. Because salsa is basic. Ordered the chicken tacos. Let's say this, top golf has better chicken tacos. We just left from playing a round of golf and had tacos there. Don't mess with this place. Bad food. Not authentic. I've been here three times, and each time I've been blown away with the quality. I'm adding the Tacos Perrones to the "10 best foods I've ever eaten" list. But you really can't go wrong. Everything is good here. If I had to make one minor critique, it's that if you order a "traditional" margarita, it comes out a bit sweet. They have some specialty margaritas and a lot of other house cocktails that you can explore. Most of them are fantastic. I have lived in Germantown for about 4 years and never stopped by until yesterday. Happy Hour runs from open to 5pm, which was a plus plus. Hubber, my server was so warm and inviting. Honestly I am very disappointed in senior tequila. I went there today late at night around 9 pm and service just wasn't good. We got there we were rushed. We ordered steak quesadillas and churros we weren't planning on eating a lot since it was late just wanted drinks and a mini dessert. First the waiter gave us the churros first. My family and I have been meaning to try Senor Tequilas for a while now and are kicking ourselves for not doing it sooner. We have already been back a few times since we first tried it a few weeks ago and have been consistently pleased with our experiences. Disclaimer, so far we have not tried any alcoholic beverages, so this only speaks to a regular dining experience. We have enjoyed the fajitas, enchiladas, and appreciate the 'build your own option' including tacos and chimis. The chorizo quesadillas are also already a favorite. The Flautitas de Casa are a tasty combination of chicken and beef, and the queso is delicious and not a fake chemical orange rendition (I enjoy the fake stuff from time to time so don't be deeply offended if that's your thing haha). Would say the large queso could be larger if you have a group of 4 or more, but that's the only 'bad' thing I have to say about it. Service has been attentive and fairly paced between different servers we have had. We have not had long waits even at popular times because there is a good amount of seating indoors and out. In our experiences so far the restaurant seems to be well kept and clean. And it may seem like an odd thing to be excited about but they have Mr. Pibb as a soda option which is a HUGE plus in my book. It is so hard to find Mr. Pibb anymore, even most places that carry coke products serve Dr. Pepper if offering that kind of soda at all. If you come for the happy hour. Frozen or on the rocks margaritas are offered. The margaritas on the rocks are premade in a huge jug. So when you order one they take a glass add ice and go to the jug which has a spout. Garnish for little presentation and serve. Now once you taste it you will see it's all simple syrup, lime juice, fillers. No alcohol so whatsoever. Pretty much garbage. I proceeded to order what was recommended to me, after asking for an actual STRONG margarita. Bartender suggested the patron margarita. The mixing was off and grandmaneir over powered the tequila because they put equal amounts of both. Was not impressed at all. Then to add icing to the cake I had ordered the fajitas. As I finished my first fajita I found hair on my meat. Although the meat was tasty. My appetite went out the window once I found the extra garnish. It definitely wasn't my hair as I have blond hair and this was black. Manager comp the entree due to the mishap. Overall this place seems like a nice time for large group of friends. But I can't see it being your moneys worth unless you stick to beer. The food was good though a bit overpriced in my opinion and while the atmosphere was fun it was, in my opinion, overwhelming. If you want somewhere that feels like a nightclub, go for it. Though note there's no dance floor. Every 10 minutes someone has a birthday or orders a drink flight and it's so loud it just stops any conversation. Add that with the music and it cut my dinner & drinks hangout with my friends short because we couldn't hear each other! So this place is more for dancing I guess. The owner and waiter came over and replaced the meal with something else. There should have been some type of discount offered on the meal or appetizer even the coke. Excellent Mexican food in a fun environment with great outdoor seating. My family of 6 dined here recently & everyone is ready to return. Yummy guacamole. My grilled chicken salad in a taco bowl was full of nicely flavored chicken, served with a spicy dressing on the side. I'd order it again. It was my birthday, and the servers made it especially fun with a sombrero for me, singing "Happy Birthday", and offering me a sundae topped with a "firecracker". So much fun. read more
