I don't usually leave reviews but I was so disappointed in the lack of customer service at this location. I have a wedding coming up and needed help finding some things.. There were several employees wandering the store. There was a lot of staff for a mid-week afternoon. Quite a few employees were up by the door gossiping or on their phones, I was able to walk in, and walk the entire store with not one single employee greeting or approaching or even acknowledging. Good customer service has become a thing of the past in the retail industry these days. read more

Upon entering the store, I was immediately followed by one of the girls there. I was looking at the Sephora branded lipsticks and she stood 2 ft away from me, just staring at me in a very unfriendly way. I asked her about various products I intended to buy and she knew nothing about anything. She would say, "I don't know" and not elaborate more despite my probing for information. She finally said, if you need this/that, just buy it on the website. Unfortunately, this isn't the 1st time, I have gone into this store and sales associates are just standing around gossiping, and if you ask them for anything they have a bothered look on their face. They've often said we don't have this/that, only for me to find it later on a display. Love this Sephora location! Everyone is super friendly and extremely helpful, and even though they're always crazy busy the line is the fastest Sephora line I've ever seen! Gregory is the best ever! July 12 2020 I had stopped in to grab a few things that I wanted to check out in person & they were only letting a limited # of people in at a time. We did not have to wait to get in & got assisted by one of the girls for a hard to find product they had. Lucky me they had one in stock! We were greeted by a white woman with glasses at the front asking if we needed anything. We said no we didn't need any help but she insisted on helping us find something. So I just asked her to point us to the Fenty section. Even after that, the whole time we were in there, we were being watched and asked by different employees if we needed any help. A full 2 minutes didn't go by without an employee coming by asking what we needed. I didn't even end up buying what I wanted because I felt so uncomfortable. Even the lady from the front was straight up staring at me the whole time. I don't know if we were being discriminated against or what but I didn't see anyone else being followed as me and my sister were. This has happened multiple times in this specific Sephora. I will honestly just go to Ulta now instead because this was the last straw. Usually I go into Sephora by myself but now my sister confirmed that even she felt extremely uncomfortable the whole time. I felt like I was being treated like a thief. I didn't even want to take my phone out because I thought they'd think I was stealing. Today I tried Sephora's new Lip Perk!!! It's a new service that they offer to plump and revitalize your lips! The gal who did my lips today (I forgot her name, she had pink highlights) was so amazing and helpful. She talked me through the process before we started. I felt so comfortable, the whole process wasn't anything excruciating or uncomfortable. They use a suction machine on your lips while using the serum and it's not painful at all!! Stephanie was her assistant and she was so helpful too! Very sweet team! I will definitely be coming back again for this service!!! I contacted the Brea Mall Sephora store last week to inquire about a particular lipstick. I was told by the young sales associate who answered the phone that they had one left and what I like it put on hold. I said yes how long is the hold good for and he said 24 hours. I do not drive and have to rely on a ride to the mall so I called the next day because I knew it was going to be another day before I could get in there and a new sales associate who actually had another title checked, and said that it had never been put on hold, and that they didn't have it. This took approximately 20 minutes to a half hour to come to this conclusion. I asked her if they could check another store and kept getting suggestions of. I should check it out online and in general lack of help. The service at the store is terrible. She did say that they have holiday help in and sounded like she was blaming it on inexperienced sales people, but in my opinion, she could've had it to call off to someone who knew knew more information. I typically buy gift certificates for my daughters from this store for Christmas, but this year I'm going to get them Ulta instead. read more

Look, I understand that hundreds of people must walk through your doors and you only have so many employees to assist. But it irks me when I see some just standing around or looking right at you unwilling to greet or help you. I came here to check out Sephora after receiving a $100 gift card for my birthday. I don't shop here so being a kinda sorta first-time customer I expected to be given more information than "the usuals" who know exactly what's up in Sephora. Sadly, no one in the store would give me the time of day. When I went online to peruse Sephora's website, I realized I could schedule a 60-minute full makeover the day of my friend's wedding. It was fairly simple to set the appointment and I received an email confirmation right away. I had also received a text message a day or two before telling me to arrive 10 minutes early. PRO TIP: If you go to the Brea Mall just to visit Sephora, the best place to park is right in front of California Pizza Kitchen and head downstairs- you'll see Sephora right there. I arrived 10 minutes early, wasn't greeted at the door, walked around the area full of employees yet had to approach one to let her know that I was there for an appointment. She asked me to have a seat and I waited 15-20 minutes for Leo to arrive. Leo is a sweet guy who loves what he does. He asked me if I wanted a glamorous or more natural look. The experience wasn't too bad. I actually pity Leo for having to deal with me and my horrid inability to handle applying eyeliner and mascara. Thanks Leo for being patient and gentle! This is Sephora after all so lip liner, lipstick, and primer cost me $100. read more

I rarely buy cosmetics or skincare products from Sephora. But, I was in dire need of replenishing some SK-II facial cleanser and moisturizer. I searched via the app and found that it was in stock at the Brea location. I placed my order the night before and received an email notification that it was ready when the store opened. When I arrived, there was sales associate at the door that directed me to the cashier for online pickup. The process was easy and quick. The store employees were all pleasant. They offered assistance as I browsed around the store. I had a positive shopping experience. The store was neat and organized. I would order more products from here again. read more

Horrible customer service. Came in 3/11/23 to get color matched in the Rare Beauty foundation. Was not greeted. I was ignored for around 20 minutes. Finally was able to get someone's attention to ask to get color matched. They said there was a list and that they would put me on it. My friend and I wanted to do a color match for foundations of our choices. Although she was more specialized in skincare products, she didn't mind taking her time to help us out. She washed her hands thoroughly before she touched our faces. Then she gave us sincere and honest comments on each product and how they looked on our skin. She wasn't afraid of having a casual conversation with us and even introduced herself with a handshake. I felt comfortable being around her and asking questions. You're greeted right away, left to shop and wander around to create your own experience, and when you have a question or two, there's an employee to assist you right away. I've always enjoyed this and many other Sephora locations because of the service and selection. It's always been really cool to go into the various stores and check out new stuff and the vibes. Honestly, I started shopping at Sephora in 2000 in San Francisco (the three level location) and South Coast Plaza when it was in front of the carousel. Although times have changed (here and there), it's always fun to go into a Sephora because they've remained true to their vision. As a beauty consumer, I very much appreciate that. My experience at this location has always been great, I honestly don't care if I'm greeted or not, as long as I get assistance needed. My only issue now is the no swatch testing policy. I was looking for some shades in Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks, took my business to Nordstrom where they do allow swatch testing. Bought 3 lipsticks and a bronzer so happy Nordstrom still allows swatch testing and customer service is always top notch. I think Sephora will be dealing with a lot more returns. read more

3.5 stars. This is a little larger location than other Sephora locations, so another 1/2 a star for that. So it carries HudaBeauty products, which is the very popular, always sold-out brand I get the most of these days. The employees are about the same at ALL locations and I've been to enough to know...somewhat smug, disingenuine, and not that welcoming. However, it's one of my closer locations, which is why I still go. I guess unfortunately after so many multiple years of shopping these Sephora locations, you get used to them and either still go or don't. read more

My go to store since forever! Place is always clean and staff is always on point. Came in today cause one of my girlfriend's told me that with a $75 purchase of skin care products you're able to have a complimentary "Perk" facial. I honestly was so shocked that you can basically get a "quick fix instant gratification" facial, saved me from the usual $100 I spend on my micro dermabrasion and oxygen mask at Bella Vie (Fountain Valley). Came in today and Liz helped me out and did my facial. She was absolutely the best! So personable and was such a sweet heart! She went step by step on what each product did and answered each of my question with such diligence. My face feels FRESSSH! My skin is so soft and smooth! You essentially get a mini microdermabrasion! Liz made my visit amazing and I am definitely coming back next month and booking an appt. To see her again! Sweetest chick ever! read more

First time ever going to Sephora and the experience failed to meet my expectations. At first there was lovely employees greeting you at the door, but when it comes to getting one-on-one assistance that's what marked the line between a really good and horrible experience. I was helped by a girl with blonde hair and she was very unenthusiastic about helping me in particular. Being an individual who has not much experience or knowledge about makeup, this employee made me feel a bit stupid and naïve not knowing what I exactly wanted. However, when she was done helping me she helped another lady (someone who knows her makeup pretty well) and her whole persona transformed to being really enthusiastic and warm. All I ask is to give a bit of encouragement and comfort for those new in makeup realm, it is really unwelcoming and unsettling for people like myself because we really don't want to enter in an environment where we feel demeaned and seen with little importance. To say the least, this employee made me feel pretty embarrassed about myself but ALEXIS (makeup artist) came and really saved the day. She was so KIND and made me feel at EASE- my god how I wished I was greeted and helped by her first it would have changed everything. ALEXIS is absolutely the type employee Sephora should be hiring, she just greets you with open arms and really makes you feel comfortable. Even though Alexis was so great, it still can't cover my experience I had with the previous employee. I've come to this location since I was sixteen, and have learned to avoid it by purchasing drugstore makeup instead. The reason? The employees at this location seem extremely eager to help people who have a lot more knowledge and/or spend a large amount of money on quality products. Which I understand working in sales, selling more is beneficial to the employees. HOWEVER, I hate how every time I go in, if I have to ask a question, immediately I get judged for my appearance, which is obvious due to their body language and tone of voice. Every time I have to ask a question, I always am interrupting a conversation between two associates, and I feel like an asshole for interrupting their conversation. IN ADDITION, I've successfully avoided Sephora for the past three years, and was reminded how terrible service was when I went in to pick up a birthday gift (they've been out all month and say that I should just redeem points online instead of coming back in to see if they've gotten refills) and I asked an associate about a foundation for sensitive skin. Instead of helping me when I asked, I stood there as she (Mara) and another associate color matched a lip shade to for another employee on the clock, until they finished and one (Mara) walked me over to the area begrudgingly. I'm thankful she was able to give me a color immediately that worked well with my skin tone, but honestly the attitude, the lack of attentiveness, and shopping on the clock makes me want to avoid Sephora. Morphe in the same mall is the most pleasant makeup store I've ever walked into, and the employees are always so kind and go out of their way to tell me deals, sales, recommendations, and tips without ever being asked. I wish my 16 year old self never walked into Sephora and walked straight over to Morphe instead. Avoid the mean girls go to Morphe. read more

I have shopped at this location a number of times and I have always had a positive experience. I came in this past weekend to splurge for my birthday. I was greeted by Dana and she asked me if I needed help looking for something in particular. I let her know I was in the market for a good concealer. She color matched me and suggested I invest a peach color corrector and a good eye cream instead of investing in a pricey concealer. I took her advice and I am really glad I did. I had mentioned to her that I had trouble with peach concealers because they always showed through my foundation. She also gave me some tips to avoid that. I was able to save my money and spend it on eye cream. Dana directed me to Sephora's new skincare line for a more affordable one. I am very glad I chose to come into the store instead of shopping online. She gave me specific tips which I had never even thought of. I also like the mini demo's that this store has. A few months back, I participated in a lip mask demo and it was a nice distraction from the busyness of the mall. read more
