Today I visited this store and the people could not be nicer. I know that it is their job to help the customers but everyone went above and beyond. I am not a huge make up person so I was a little bit nervous about being judged when I went in but that didn't happen. Instead of being judgmental they helped me find exactly what I needed and helped me find the correct shade of everything. I found a makeup angel here to help me pic out the perfect blush and teach me how to apply the naked 2 palette. Her name was Netsuhe I believe but honestly all the girls here are lovely. I come out the way to this location because of the customer service. The staff always acknowledge you, are very helpful, and you don't rush you! I was looking for a foundation for my skin type. I had one in mind but a sales associate recommended a different one to me, and it was better than the one I originally wanted to buy. I had one of my best makeup experiences ever here! I wandered in alone looking for some specifics before a tropical vacation, and of course was totally open to checking out some new products. Overall I was helped by three different people and probably spent an hour checking out mascaras, learning the ins and outs of various Smashbox products (I'm addicted) and generally just having fun doing girly things... I can't remember if I was greeted quickly or not, but however the visit started, it ended on a great note: I was super happy and spend under $100, which never happens. The staff was able to point me to just what I was looking for, and encouraged me to by smaller version of new things to make sure I liked it. Very conveniently located near the metro and other great shops like Anthropologie, Bloomingdales, etc. Usually when I walk into a Sephora store someone greets me right away, but no one did this time. I had to seek someone out myself. Once I did, Becca helped me pick out some new items and she was very helpful. She showed me exactly what shades of concealer to use and how to apply it. Update to my comment about the store closing early: I had sent an email to customer service about the 10 min early closing time. Their customer service reps are prompt and extremely responsive. Worst customer service I every experienced ! No one in the store assisted me but assisted other women who came in after me. A store associate by the name of Kristina noticed I needed help and didn't offer to help me at all but assisted the woman right next me. On a Sunday afternoon, I visited this Sephora for the first time. My plan was to get foundation matched. One of the associates asked me if I needed help and immediately connected me with Becca when I told her what I needed. Becca was kind, patient and matched me perfectly on the first try. I'm new to makeup and she answered all of my questions on the application and the products she used (foundation, concealer, setting powder, brushes). If you every need help selecting or applying makeup, Turon is your man! I went in today looking for a red lip color to break out of my usual makeup routine and the woman at the door handed me over to Turon, who immediately found a fantastic red lipstick that matched my skin color. He was very meticulous while applying it and then proceeded to give me a full-fledged make over! I am not much of a makeup girl, but he really made me see how much of a difference it can make and made me feel fantastic. The best part about my experience was that he applied a lot of different products and was happy to explain them to me, but did not make me feel pressured to buy more than I came in for. I LOVE quick shopping. Today I was in need of Anastasia Brow Wiz and looked for the nearest Sephora by my job. During my lunch break I hopped on the metro and 1 stop later I was there. I went in with my buddy Joe who was shopping for his wife for their 1 year anniversary. Every single employee in the store was extremely cheery and helpful, despite us (me being the gift consultant) checking out 1/2 of their perfumes (and quite a few colognes; what fun is shopping for others if you aren't ALSO shopping for yourself?!). Not only were our little helpers not annoyed by our flip-flopping on a decision every couple minutes, they were quick to offer us other options, never losing the smile. Good work. 5 stars! read more

At really any Sephora, you are going to get a great selection of make-up and other cosmetic products, but I am really writing this review because of how horrible the service is here. Every time I have come in here, no one is at the register. Then you stand there and stand there and stand there, and no one acknowledges your presence or if they see you standing there, they just tidy up a rack instead, finish their conversation with another employee (just standing around) or look around and hope another employee will help you instead. Last time I was standing there for so long, I turned around to walk out without my purchase and then all of a sudden, an employee showed up. When I told her I was about to walk away, she asked how I was paying? I'm sorry, how about a little customer service. There are over 5 of you operating a small store. Give me a break. Another time, I was trying to use a debit card and the individual machine wasn't working, so instead of the girl trying to swipe it herself, she said, you have to use a credit card and I said, but I want to use my debit and she said, you have no choice. I'm pretty sure I am the customer, therefore, I have a choice. These employees need to be put through customer service boot camp because the lack of service is truly atrocious. read more

Very friendly staff - the cast member took time selecting the perfect foundation shade for me and recommending some other products for my skin, which had become very dry after returning to the U.S. from hot and humid Southeast Asia. She generously gave me samples of all the products she recommended so I could try them at home, which was great because my skin did not like the cream nor serum she had recommended so I didn't waste any money. This review is for the wonderful Netsuhe. I came in for a 45 min makeover for a gala back in October that I was attending. A friend told me about it and it's great! You can pay $50 for a Sephora gift card and then they do your makeup. Back to Netsuhe. She was so incredibly sweet and explained everything she was applying and kept checking in with me to see if I liked every thing she applied. She was so easy to talk to and made it all a blast! I had to rush out for a hair appointment and she kept me calm. She gets 5 stars for her amazing service! read more

I had a very good experience at this Sephora thanks to Kim Content, the Personal Beauty Advisor at this location. I made an appointment with Kim because I am consistently frustrated with the service I've received at the makeup counters at local department stores. I have rosacea and visit my dermatologist regularly, but she doesn't provide recommendations for makeup that works well with sensitive, dry, etc. skin. Thankfully, Kim does! The appointment with Kim was for 90 minutes and during that time, Kim was a great listener, patient and very knowledgeable about the ingredients in different products that could irritate my skin. She educated me about the various new beauty trends that seem to baffle me (face oil for oily skin?! ok, now i get it) and didn't push me to purchase any one product over another, or any item outside of what I told her I originally wanted (foundation and under eye/concealer). Kim was friendly, professional and very knowledgeable. I will definitely come back to her and this Sephora for my future makeup needs, and I suggest you make an appointment with her, too! read more

WARNING: If you make a purchase ON-LINE at Sephora and return it with the receipt and packing papers, it is considered a "non-receipted" return. I returned two items over the course of one year. I recently tried to return an item to the store in Chevy Chase and it was declined because of my history of "non-receipted" returns. Apparently, I am now not allowed to return anything to Sephora for the next 365 days. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. The staff at the store said that it's the store policy and that there's no work around. Stay far, far away from this company. read more

The staff is so amazing, incredibly helpful & they love to talk over makeup, direct you to products that work just as well for lower prices, and recommend different shades or products. I extremely aware that our sales people working on Black Friday may be under a lot of stress. It's understandable. I shop in the Sephora Friendship Heights location on a regular basis. Today I wasn't really shopping for BF but out with my college daughter to get what she needed before she returned to college tomorrow. We were in a good mood and strolling around. I said Hello to Gina who has helped me get ready for a job interview and the other wonderful sales staff that has always been wonderful to us. Today I was shocked by my experience. As my daughter was shopping the store manage walked up to me and asked could she help me. I said yes, could you validate my parking? She said after you buy something in a snippy tone and walked away. I was livid but didn't say anything because my daughter pulled me away because she was embarrassed. I would normally give her a pass but it was particularly nasty and I got the WTF feeling in my gut. Especially embarrassed that it happened in front of my daughter. I don't know if we didn't look like we had money. We were both casually dressed and didn't "look like" some of the women who "normally" shop in Friendship Heights. Well, I can afford $3 to park or easily walk to Bloomindales or Whole Foods that would validate without question but I came to your store to shop. I can tell you what I purchased because my daughter is a VIB Rouge member. I spent almost 400 in the last two weeks alone. $140 on 11/12 for me, $179 online at midnight on 11/23 for Black Friday gifts for my nieces, $40 at Montgomery Mall on 11/24 and about $40 today of facial products. I was there to purchase two Foreo Luna Mini 2's for gifts ($108 each) but I decided to go to Nordstrom instead. I don't know what was going on with your manager at the moment but she needs to calm down. She lost additional business today because of $3 and I'm returning the $179 in gifts that I purchased online. I refuse to spend my money where I'm disrespected for no reason at all. SAD! My review would be a 0 for this trip. In the past, I'd give this location a 3-4. If you don't look like a supermodel, beware of the angry manager. She will treat you like you are nothing and can't afford to shop there. read more
