I favor this Sephora over the bigger, shinier, newer one across the street at South Coast Plaza proper. "Why?" you ask, perplexed because this one is smaller and presumably has less inventory than the other one. I don't want to give away ALL my secrets in case my readership is broader than I think it is and comprised of makeup hungry denizens such as myself. Buuuut...parking is always easy close to where the Sephora is located. Granted, I haven't been on Black Friday but I was there while the general public was in the throes of Christmas shopping so...yeah, parking is better at this one. It is almost literally an "in and out" shopping situation (if you want it to be). The other thing is, I never have problems getting help. I'm not overly aggressive and most of the time prefer to try things out on my own. However, one does require help in tracking down certain things...and the ladies here have been nothing but pleasant and helpful. Also, inventory shortages are NBD...because they can order it and have it shipped to your house for free! So as long as you're not in a hurry to use whatever it is you're there for, you can still walk away having purchased your heart's desire. You're welcome! read more

Sephora is literally the Mecca for all things beauty; the Toys-R-Us for makeup and beauty fiends. I love this location, even though it's not as big as the one across the street because it's easier to get help. The crowds are more manageable and parking isn't as crazy. I realize the selection isn't as expansive, however, they can always order whatever your hearts desire online and you'll get the personalized (unrushed) attention. In general, I love that Sephora is generous with their samples; for as much as I spend here, it's good to be able to try out the products before making a commitment. I had a very unfortunate experience today at this location. I went to return a couple of items I purchased online, and after waiting in the long line was told by 2 cashiers and ultimately, the store manager, KRISTIN, that they would not accept my return because I "didn't have the shipping/packing slip and it's required for all returns." I explained I have never been told that in the past, and all prior returns were confirmed against my Beauty Insider number, which I gave them, in addition to the order number from my phone. Disgustingly, they acknowledged they could see my purchased items in the system, but still refused to accept my return because they needed to "triple check" purchases. I am a Rouge member and have spent a lot of money at Sephora. It was extremely frustrating and disappointing to be treated so poorly. I will not be shopping at Sephora any longer because of this, and will be letting my family and friends know to stay away. I left a message for the District Manager and am awaiting a call back so she is aware of what happened before they lose any more customers from such poor service. Stay away from this location if you need something from Sephora. I left this store and went straight to the South Coast Plaza location where they accepted my return without issue. I read the reviews that this location is smaller but newer than the one across the street - parking is easier and it's less busy, so I opted to go to this location for those sole facts. I prefer that in my experience, than to be in the hustle & bustle of the super busy one across the street and with all of SCP's crazy parking / people, this location eases a lot of my crowd/shopping anxiety. I wasn't greeted upon entering, however I made my way through to where I needed to go. Got a sample of the Dr Jart cicapair color correction cream because my face was kinda red, so why not for free samples right? I initially didn't find what I was looking for in the section, so I made my way around the store and still couldn't find it - so then I asked the very friendly and helpful ladies in various locations of the store. They directed me and walked me over to where they all were - in of course, the last place i tried looking for the item, LOL. I found what I needed but not what I wanted, so I asked again, and sure enough, there was plenty in the stock room of the item. Upon checkout, I managed to get my birthday gift early (it's next month) even though i'd never signed up for sephora card / info before, so that was pretty cool. I guess that's not specific to this location in regards to service, but the gal was nice enough to let me know about it and I was in a good mood so why not. The store was clean, bright and well kept, everything was where it was supposed to be and employees were helpful - that's all I require in a shopping experience. 1 star docked because they had stock of something I was looking for, but it wasn't out on the floor - aka, they should have kept the floor stocked and not hidden - like, why? You can't sell it if you don't show it, and you only sold these because I asked for it. A different customer might not ask for it and would have gone online to buy it instead. read more

Typically , I love shopping at Sephora. They have all the products I like to use, and staff is USUALLY very knowledgeable of products and informative about similar products based on what I'm looking for and product popularity. Yesterday when I came here looking for a new cleanser and toner that was recommended to me, I just wanted help locating it, as well as getting a second opinion about the product. The entire time I was there none of the staff members offered to help me. I needed the Son & Park Beauty water, and to get a second opinion about it. When I asked the associate if they had it in stock, she said yes, then sent me off to somebody else to help me. This older lady had NO IDEA what I was talking about and brought me over to a section of products I have ZERO Interest in. And the only input that she had on the products was "oh this is very good I really like it, it's really good." UHM okay lady can you give me reasons? Like is it popular ? A lot of people buy it? Good ingredients? It felt like she was just trying to sell me something that her manager told her she had to push out. But the annoying thing is the fact that the first associate, who KNEW what I was looking for couldn't just help me, instead of sending me to somebody who couldn't. The most annoying part is that she was standing next to us the entire time, and heard the entire conversation but still didn't offer to help or show me where the product was. Guess this is my go to place to pick up the essentials if I don't get them online. Ladies are always helpful when I asked questions and provided more than attentive services. I love the Sephora because I get to try the stuff before I decide to commit to buying them. I love this location because they're away from the main mall (less foot traffic & crowd) where I can actually browse and test out the products without being overwhelmed by people. Beware of Sephora's return policy. If you receive gifts, do not exchange them! Sephora keeps tracks of your return history and they will cut you off. I get alot of Sephora items as gifts, as a woman that is normal. Sometimes the color doesn't match my complexion stuff like that, so I would exchange for another color. Last week I went to Sephora to go exchange a compact. I have not exchanged anything at Sephora, since 2015. They told me that a 3rd party RAR would not let me return the item. I was confused. I went home and requested a return report from RAR. The report showed that I had not exchanged anything, since 2015. I called the help number to ask RAR why they would not let me exchange my none usable item. RAR said that Sephora has changed their policy and are VERY strict with their non-receipt exchanges now. So it was Sephora that would not let me exchange my item, but blamed it on a 3rd party! What a bummer. In the past I would rave about Sephora because they were like Costco. The best customer service and exchange policies. You always get what you need and want at Sephora. Will at least you did. Not anymore. If I can give this a zero I would! I had the worst experience at this location. I approached a Sephora representative to ask for a product. I didn't know the name of the product but the representative knew what I was talking about. Everything was fine but I noticed he/she/they quickly made the judgment that I would be able to afford the product I went seeking. He/she/they started to direct me to where the location of the product was and he/she/they said along the lines "it's too pricey, the "dups" are against the wall. I was shocked, and very upset by the comments he/she/they was making. Grant it I was looking my best because I had rushed over to south coast to get my kids Santa pictures, but your position as a sales associate is not to judge. Wow. Most improved since last I have reviewed.. Awesome staff, clean store, super organized and vast improvement since it opened. I love Sephora, and as a Costa Mesa resident, I am lucky enough to have 2 locations to splurge at, but this location is at Crystal Court So. Coast, and is less crowded, but very well stocked with products. My previous review did have some negative experiences, but I do feel strongly that the atmosphere, appearance and entire experience has been better and the last few times I've been here, shopping has been awesome. :-) OverALL: Bravo! Definitely going back again! So here I was with my cosmetic distress call. Apparently youre not supposed to scrub your face hard with your Clearsonic. That pretty much turns your pores inside out (purges it). Once your skin purges, it opens up the pores. FML cause i did that exactly for a month and a half so my skins been hating me. I honestly thought i was having a negative reaction to my cleansers but it just because I was using the Clearsonic incorrectly. Stephanie took her time to teach, suggest, and help me out with many products since I honestly had zero product knowledge on skin care. I walked out of Sephora with confidence in product knowledge and a Boscia facial mask (those masks you let dry & then peel). Going back for Stephanie & more masks in the future! As for their "Spring Social" event... I was surprised to find so few people waiting to enter. That made for a peaceful and uncrowded shopping experience for me. What was disappointing was that some items weren't stocked; they were out of a few items on my list (I'd expect better supply, especially when holding an event -- and arriving prior to the official store's opening). However, that's another benefit for me... I didn't need to spend more; I'd already made enough damage in one morning. I expected more excitement at an "event"; sure, there was coffee, a little bottle of water, and a small selection of satisfactory pastries; however, there wasn't the opportunity to "meet experts and brand ambassadors for personalized advice" as Sephora had promoted. The limited-edition cosmetic bag is cute enough, but the "free samples" consisted of a pinch of a small assortment of square packets. Other than shopping prior to the store opening, the gifts and services didn't offer much excitement, as I feel the day after Thanksgiving, or going to events where plenty of samples are distributed (not so much that I want or need the items; it's just fun feeling like it's Halloween, and I'm filling my bag with goodies!). With the cost of cosmetics and products, at least give us a 20% (or more) discount. I like this location in that it's quieter. The staff at this store is very nice; outside of today's special event, they're not always easy to find (unlike the main store at South Coast Plaza). The parking is more convenient here. The only issue is, will they have what I want in stock (today is not the only day they haven't had what I've gone in to get)? read more

Really nice staff! I'm trying to do Christmas shopping early this year and saw that members get 15% off right now. The staff was really good on covid precautions, probably better than any other store I've been in ! They let in limited customers, which is good because it lets the workers have more dedicated time to help you while you shop. A little bit of an irritating trip, I called Sephora in advance to confirm that I was able to get samples at the products that I needed due to me having an event coming up and I wanted to try them out, I got there and I asked the lady upfront if I was able to retrieve some samples and if I could just bring her the product when I was ready. she told me that I was only allowed to get samples of foundation. I knew this was incorrect because I called and she explained to me everything was available for samples as long it was in A pump dispenser, and they were no longer giving samples of fragrances. I asked her if she was positive and she said yes, even the girl next to her back away with a funny expression bc it was wrong and about to be an uncomfortable situation, so then I asked if she would mind confirming with her manager, the manager came up and said exactly what the phone call had stated earlier, but that didn't seem to be good enough for the woman who just told me a different answer, since she gave me the wrong answer she just stared at me like I was horrid for not accepting her response and then being told something different by management. The store is always clean and everyone is always so friendly and kind enough to help find an item or do a stock check. Whether I make a call or shop in store, I always am happy with the service and ofc with the goodies I shop for! Only one guy made it heavily uncomfortable to shop. He was the manager for the evening that I went in for an exchange/return. He wore glasses, tan, avg height, shirt dark hair. I'm only being specific because he was THAT unpleasant. I had no gift receipts and my birthday was just literally a few days prior and he made it seem like I was taking money from his very pocket for wanting to return items. I love shopping at Sephora but the one at Crystal Court is horrible on customer service. I went in there looking for a specific product and asked an associate who was just standing there (not busy) if they had it. She looked at me and said "no" and walked away. I then asked her again in a polite way because I honestly thought maybe she didn't hear me right. She turned around and said "I already told you NO!". Then she walked away again. I then asked her why was she so upset? All I asked was if they had a product I was looking for. She then rolled her eyes at me and said, "I already told you 3 times we don't have it". I then went to the front of the store where another associate was fixing the beauty blenders and asked her. She very nicely said, "oh, yes we have it" then proceeded to show me where it was. I understand we all have bad days or whatever but the way that associate which by the way her name is Colombia.....yup, that's actually her name. The way she treated me was unacceptable. I love Sephora, and I've been a loyal client for a very long time now, I usually spend my days shopping at this location but honestly I don't think I wanna come back. A few days ago I went in to do some of my regular shopping, firstly I was looking for a foundation and I had asked for help twice but was kept waiting for the longest time and that was a bummer. A moment later I noticed an issue that made me very uncomfortable. I noticed the cashier was very busy helping multiple clients at once, when I heard him ask a man for help who i'm pretty sure was the manager. The man who had seemed to be the manager responded in a very aggressive and rude tone. It's a shame to witness that this is how management treats their employees. If this is how they speak to their employees in front of clients I can only imagine how their treated when we're not around. That's very poor behavior. I recently became obsessed with the Laneige Water Bank Gel Moisturizer after being recommended it by a worker here. I have repurchased it several times in the last 3 months, but the one I purchased from this store a few weeks ago was clumpy and felt like microbeads when I put it on my skin. Having used this product before, I knew this wasn't right so today I came in to let them know and exchange it. Keep in mind, I buy so many products from Sephora and have rarely returned anything. I was able to exchange it pretty easily by just letting them know the phone number on my Sephora account. However, I am rating 3 stars because the lady who handled my exchange seemed to do so begrudgingly. Maybe this wasn't her intention, but she was dismissive of my concerns that it was clumpy and told me that the formula had been changed so the new one I got would be exactly the same. I let her know that there was no way the new formula was supposed to be clumpy like how mine was and that I had compared it to another one I bought recently but she continued to insist that the new formula is just like that which I found a bit weird? I'm really only writing this review to let her know it wasn't the same at all and the new one I received was not clumpy. The one I had purchased originally had to have been a bad batch or something. The formula may have little white dots in it, but it goes onto the skin smoothly and should not feel clumpy!! I like this Sephora; every time I'm there the workers are friendly and helpful. I've never had a problem with any of the associates there and I feel bad for them due to the rude customers that come to the store. Even when the Fenty line from Rihanna came in, the associate (I can't remember her name, but I did remember she got a husky puppy recently...random I know) was really awesome, attentive, and was able to color match me right on the spot! I usually never attend Sephora as I don't use makeup but I made a quick stop here because I wanted to pick up a certain makeup brush for a birthday present. It was a very quick visit but it was also thanks to the great employees that I was able to find what I was looking for so quickly. They are very nice and the store is very clean. I don't think I saw any trash on the floor as a matter of fact. The price I would say is a little high for this makeup store but I've been told that it's justified in the quality but I just don't see it. Love this place. It's my go to for all my beauty needs. Everyone is helpful and knowledgeable in the products at the store. I am a bit particular with my products: no parabens, no fragrance, no phthalates, no sulfates. I send my request to one of the beauty specialists and baam! A long list of products with what I desire is responded immediately. My husband is so sweet. He knows I love Sephora so when we go shopping he'll suggest we go in, but I tell him it's okay because once we go in, it may be hours before he sees the exit sign. read more

Crystal Court Sephora is my favorite! I make the commute out here from Riverside County because they are almost always fully stocked with my favorite items, have amazing personalized service and I leave happy with my custom makeovers. I am a rouge so I get my makeup done a lot and shop a lot. I have been to Riverside, Brea, Disney, and main South Coast Sephora, and this one is the best because its so clean and they really care to make sure you have a good experience. I sat for an hour to get my make up done today and saw 6 teenage girls during the hour ask for samples and then leave not buying anything. No one made them feel awkward like I have witnessed in other Sephoras. I also like that it's so calm in there. I am able to focus on what I am doing or buying more. read more

Went to this Sephora to buy ONE simple concealer & wanted to be color matched. I waited 30 minutes and I was very patient (understanding that it is the Holiday season). Because I waited 30 minutes, I tapped an employee on the shoulder & asked politely, "Excuse me Miss, do you mind color matching me, I've been waiting here a while..." She then gave me a nasty look & said, "Yeah, go ask someone else... can't help you with that" and she walked away / minded her own business. The correct thing to do was to just reply with, "Yes, I'll have someone else come help you..." I am NEVER coming back to this Sephora again. I've only recently started coming to the Crystal Court Sephora, as the one inside South Coast Plaza is always so jam-packed. Maybe I come at the right times, because I've never had to wait in long lines at this location. The staff here are always extremely friendly and helpful, you don't get overlooked as much since their store isn't as big as the other one either. At the South Coast Plaza location, it always takes at least 10-15 minutes for someone to be able to help me. At this location, it's always in and out. Since I've been coming here, Rebekah has stood out to me the most since not only is she very helpful, she's very personable too. She remembered me after only seeing me a couple of times. She treated me as a human being and showed me the respect and courtesy all stores should. Tory (our MUA) and the manager were wonderful.
