I don't shop at Sephora for myself but they make great gifts for my friends who are obsessed with the store. I also prefer this location as it is walking distance from where I live. This location is in the packed South Coast Plaza mall so it is usually pretty crowded inside the store. There are, fortunately, multiple employees and they are really good about signaling to one another to find someone available to help you for assistance. When I went I also wanted to get the free 'mini make-over' for my eyes as I was going to an event later in the evening so I figured, what the heck. Have a professional do my eye make-up for once. The assistant was super sweet and explained all the make up she was using and how to use it. The check out line was long but moved surprisingly fast. They keep the cashiers stocked pretty well, at least at this location. I have been to a couple other Sephora locations and they were about the same size as this one, maybe a little larger but you can definitely find what you need here. As for me, I will be back next time my friend has a bday because the samples they gave me and the birthday gift (small lipstick), will be plenty for me for awhile. Browsing and MINDING MY OWN BUSINESS at the lashes section, here comes lady in red (staff member) would just get in front of me and trying to adjust merch. Although it was fine. No excuse me, no pardon me, no nothing! Here comes another lady in red training another girl and literally cut me off by showing lashes etc etc .. I'm a customer! I'm Freaking shopping! This Sephora loc is my go-to store for all my makeup add-ons, perfume and more. I have been coming here for the last 4 yrs and have always had a great experience. Store is super busy on most days and on the weekends and holidays, however it stays organized, friendly and super helpful. Every employee here is smiling and ready to answer questions. The make up team here is awesome. Ready to let you test out eyeshadows, blush, lip color and more. Be sure to check out some of the featured items too. I did notice that there is a glass door way in the back of the store that reads: "Personal Beauty Advisor" I am not sure how that works, but interesting enough to come back and find out! : -) A+ for mystery. Perks: Huge MakeUp Forever station, also this Sephora carries most of the Sephora line and Skincare lines in OC. and I must mention its inside South Coast plaza, so more shopping awaits you. Okay, moment of honesty. I'm a total dude when it comes to these places. I stand around and try to not look like I'm in pain while my significant other looks at all of the various products and fragrances and makeup products for 20-30 minutes. At Sephora, thankfully, there's a very large selection of men's colognes and skincare products. It's not as entertaining as the XBox display at Best Buy, but I can definitely smell a few new colognes for myself, possibly steal a few samples of eye creams and lotions that are too expensive for me to buy, and at least time passes by at a reasonable rate, compared to other stores. read more

Went in when the store was pretty empty, I couldn't find my shade of concealer on on the shelves so I tried looking for someone to help. There was a male employee that went straight to help another group of girls that had designer bags, walking right past me. Another group of employees were just chatting and ignored me, so I gave up and went to pay for the things in my basket. Yikes! I'm a VIB Rouge member, so I spend a lot of time and money hoarding beauty products. First impression of this store, the staff definitely needs more training!! First, I'm looking at concealer and a tall older blonde woman offers to help. She steers me toward a gorgeous Tatcha product that she admitted while swatching it on the back of my hand, they don't even have in stock. Bummer! I can order it online right? Nope, she gives me this fake sad look, shakes her head at me and says the manufacturer is totally sold out. Sooo thanks for showing me this product I can't even buy?? Then I start looking at a summer foundation that comes in two formulas - matte and dewy. I told her I prefer matte. Again with the head shake and insisting that I need dewy bc that's what all the girls are doing these days. But. I want. Matte. She fully ignored me and then pawned me off to the visiting Givenchy sales rep who talked my ear off for half an hour so I can buy from her. Ew. I'll just stick to buying online! read more

I come here mainly for convenience because it's close to my home but also, I enjoy the brands they carry. This Sephora is always crowded and the line moves relatively slow. Service isn't the best, I've asked staff questions and they sometimes just ignore me. It doesn't take much effort to tell me where NARS is right? I don't understand. They also need to train their staff better. One girl color matched me and told me to go with Bisque (M) for the Marc Jacobs foundation. I trusted her so I bought it. Now I'm stuck with a very dark foundation that I can't even return. Oh, and samples here are always destroyed, dirty or messy. Especially lipsticks and eye shadow palettes. Bummer. Came in on a whim after shopping @ Macy's. Mother-in-law gave me a gift card to Sephora and figured I'd use it that very same day. I came in, and asked if they had time for a full-face makeover. If you're an avid Sephora shopper... you know that there's a difference between a mini makeover (spot on face) or full face. Olivia greeted me and asked me exactly what I wanted done. I initially wanted light purple lid and a nude lip. I rarely have eyeshadow done... since I don't know how to do it myself. Lol. I end up looking like Carrie after attempting to paint my face lol. Anyways, after Olivia finished my eyes, I wasn't happy with the purple color. It was "Very Alice and Wonderland," she nodded and suggested going with a brown. I'm happy that she wasn't fazed by my indecisiveness and last minute changes. Olivia was attentive, patient, sweet and a master at her craft. Although this location was big, I wasn't impressed with what I found. I came here looking for an eyebrow enhancement kit. It took foreverrr to get some help. I don't mind that some of the workers were occupied with other customers, but there were a few workers who weren't doing anything and saw me wandered around looking clueless, but didn't mind to help me. I made eye contact with some of them and before I could ask for help, they would look away, walk away, or touch up on their makeup and whatnot. =/ Thankfully, I finally got some help from a lady whose name I didn't ask for. I told her what I was looking for and she gave me a few options, which was nice because I like a variety to choose from! I also asked for the huge combo palettes, but unfortunately, they do not have them in the store until winter, so I can only get the big ones online. I finally decided to get the Sephora Arch It Eyebrow Kit that came with the eyebrow color, 3 stencils, eyebrow gel, eyebrow brushes (1 big one and 2 mini ones), a tweezer, and a small pouch to put all of those things in. The price was $35. I came home and used it that night and it didn't work so well for me. The thing that sucked was that this kit only comes in ONE SHADE for the eyebrows, so you can image that the shade didn't fit my hair color very well. Maybe it was only my second time using stencils, but I cannot seem to use them effectively! Any tips with stencils? Anyway, I'm definitely returning this kit. The only reason I took away some stars is because: It is always packed The testers are often out/applicators out because of the above They keep running out of different things I want and I end up going to Macy's. First of all, I'm the kinda girl who never wears makeup and if I do, its minimal. Second of all, I have little experience with makeup and I dread going to makeup stores in fear of being looked down upon as a plain someone who's trying to look for something to fit my skin complexion in a store like Sephora. BUT LO AND BEHOLD; I came out with a dazed smile and a Sephora bag with my self esteem still intact, if not totally shined and polished x20 like my face. The ladies at Sephora were super helpful and friendly. I had a lot of questions regarding finding the right moisterizer and cleansers for my face and they did a superb job at finding my right shades! There was also a special at Sephora where you could get a free facial and they also kindly directed me to one happily. They were really attentive and gave me wonderful recommendations and comments about which items suited my skin. The products are rather pricey, but I walked out with a smashbox lip gloss, eyeliner and moisterizer with a happy face :D Once I save up more money, I'll be back to Sephora~ read more

I'm not really a makeup person but thankfully Sephora isn't all about makeup. They've got all kinds cool stuff like perfume, skincare, and nail polish which is more my thing and when I do want to dabble in the makeup world, I can come and play here. I spend so much time here that I've even got a Beauty Insider card which I can add to my PassBook. They also have an iPhone app. I like stores that are tech savvy. I also love that I can check out at any time with one of their associates because they all have a Square card reader like device attached their phones. I came here to redeem my birthday freebie and to also get a lip exfoliant. Every major brand has one but I was able to find one that I liked from Fresh that was all natural and organic. The sales associate was kind enough to point out the different ones and help me make a decision. Now thanks to her, I no longer have dry chapped lips which is often an occurrence during Winter. This is a pretty big Sephora located near Bloomies and has several products. Customer service is also friendly. I'll be back for more goodies. read more

This Sephora is only useful if you know what you're getting. Location is pretty nice but the service is slow and they don't acknowledge you. There's tons of staff around that avoid eye contact and pretend to be busy. I wanted to know which highlighter would look best for a natural look and their artist told me to play with the colors. She went on a rant about females finally getting power and how we should experiment and not be told what to wear or do. I came to Sephora ready to spend and for advice on upgrading my look, not to experiment. I ended up going to Nordstrom for real expert advice. Came here with my bestie for a special event. The creator of Tokidoki (Simone Legno) was there doing an autograph signing event. The girls working at Sephora were really fun and energetic. I personally had no idea who this guy was or even what this brand was about. But either way the positive vibes being emitted from the crowd was nothing short of contagious I let my bestie go shopping for about 10 mins and in that time she managed to drop $100 bucks.....all on tokidoki stuff. Yea go figure. But she was stoked to get a personalized sketch / autograph and picture with him, so if she's happy; I'm happy :) Also one of the employees told me that Kim Kardashian will be making an appearance there soon.... It's not rocket science, but good service seems to be more rare these days, so when I find it, I write about it & reward the individuals who made my day. I needed a mini eye-make-up done for birthday dinner with my husband & the super-sweet greeter (glasses, braces, dark hair, sweet smile with a Harvard pin on her uniform, too bad I forgot her name) was quick to find a great make-up artist: Alexis, friendly & professional. Always a great start! I'm SUPER picky when it comes to eye make-up (I know what hubby likes). Often times it's hit or miss, but this was a hit! Alexis skillfully worked her brushes & products, made me look like a rockstar! I then grabbed the lip balm I needed, paid (off hours-short line) at the nice cashier & done! This Sephora is by far one of the worst Sephora I have been to. Jean is a tall blonde lady that only seems to help other women that is around her age and seems extremely bias and judgmental. When I kindly asked for a sample she rudely said you can bring it here. Keep in mind she was doing absolutely nothing besides standing. I hope you can see this Jean because you definitely made this my last trip to this location. You turned a good day in to a bad one just because of your terrible and entitled attitude. Hands-down one of my favorite Sephora locations & I mean, you can only say this so often about stores (am I right?). I'm going to be straight up, I'm not a die-hard makeup enthusiast and I don't know always know what's the latest news about beauty products, but I know what I like and don't like. My recent love affair with lipsticks, lip stains, and lip liners have become so real and prominent - I can lose myself swatching different products while in this store. It's the inner super girly side of me, what can I say? Hardwired to love it all! Wonderful to begin the start of a beautiful collection, but painful for my bank account! The best thing about this location besides all the products readily available to you, is the quality of the workers. The customer service here IS something to rave about. They are super friendly (& not fake friendly) and genuinely there to help you with your makeup needs. While some may not like always being attended to, I really don't mind because it's never been too excessive on any of my visits. It's funny because every time I used to come with one of my good friends, SHE would be mistaken for a Sephora worker. Priceless. If they don't have something in-store, I believe you can order it when you're checking out or if you're not down for that, feel free to order online. The only really main pitfall I can think of is that this location can get super crowded & certain popular items may run out quickly. Another tidbit is that if you can foresee yourself spending a good amount of money on makeup, if you haven't already you should definitely sign up for the beauty insider rewards program. Woo another card to add to your probable ever-growing collection of reward and stamp cards in your purse/wallet. Exciting. tldr; Great location, many different products, great service but can get crowded. This Sephora is so well managed. I have never been asked more if I needed help or assistance. The store was packed with post-Christmas shoppers and the staff was handling it impeccably. When I got to the register, I off handedly mentioned something I missed and the associate helping me left the cash register and went and got it for me! And, even though the line was so long, they had every register open and that line moved so fast. I was so impressed. We were even greeted on our way out and asked if we found everything we needed. Jeffrey gave me the best experience I've ever had at a Sephora or any store to be honest. I rarely wear makeup but was feeling brave and wanted to find a red lipstick and liquid eyeliner. I approached Jeffrey 3 different times while shopping in the store and Jeffrey was the kindest, most supportive and helpful person I've ever met. Not only that, each time Jeffrey seemed genuinely excited to assist me. Jeffrey was so knowledgeable that when I showed a photo of a lipstick and asked what it was, Jeffrey knew what color it was instantly and showed me how combining two colors would get me the color in the photo. Despite 2 new Sephora locations that opened up near me, this store is still my all-time favorite! This location has better makeup artists, higher end brands like SK-II, and a larger selection of gift sets. I love getting makeovers here since they always do an amazing job on me! Weekends get packed so schedule a makeover in advance! Last weekend for the VIB rouge 20% off sale, I got most of my items at this location. Even though this location is always packed, it's such a large store that it has the best selections! As for makeup classes, this location has a ton of classes each month! I try to go to a class every couple of months to learn new tips and techniques. Plus, the classes are free! I also love getting a Perks facial with $75 purchase. The facial does wonders for my skin. Yuck. Service here is a hit or miss for me. Sometimes I get really excellent service and the staff is super helpful. Other times the staff can be really rude and it takes FOREVER to get waited on. I am not a makeup person, although occasionally I stroll in whenever I run out of lipgloss or need mascara (BTW, the place is great if you love the namebrand stuff...I do). The store itself is pretty big and there's a lot to choose from compared to other Sephoras I've been to. Eh...I'd probably write more, but I'm in a bad mood and I'm already a little peeved at my last shopping experience. Very good service here!! I came in the other day looking for my foundation color and an employee by the name of Andrew was incredibly helpful. Looking for my shade under MUFE was a very easy process. She sat me down and tested the products on my face. Unfortunately, MUFE is incredibly pricey, so she gave me wonderful alternatives that did similar things. I didn't want to commit so I asked for samples. Expecting only literally "sample size", she gave me enough foundation from both types that I could probably use for at least 4 times!! She discussed with me the different types of foundations and described with me what works well for what type of skin tone and everything.. superrrrr helpful!! I learned a lot, thanks!! And she was very nice :) Their Beauty Insider Card is probably not as great as Ulta's (because they have days where you get triple points..) but this place is closer. Just because it is inside South Coast Plaza, it is relatively busy, especially on the weekends. Weekdays is much easier. Their return policy is great too! You can keep a product for however long you want but just as long as 80% is still available, they will return it :) read more

For a location inside the trendy and expensive So Coast Plaza, I expected more from this store. Its located steps from Bloomingdales, where the clientele are supposed to be "better off", yet looking at their shelves, it seems the ghetto girls went through the store. I walked through the make up aisle, and it looks like people with no knowledge of hygiene touched the sample cosmetics. I know a lot of ladies like to freshen up their make up, some even come in to do their make up completely, but cross contaminating one color with another, or not even trying to keep make up clean was gross. Maybe it was a busy weekend, where all the riff raff comes to stay cool in the AC? Regardless, no one from the Sephora floor was checking to see if people were keeping things clean, or, maybe they've given up.
