DO NOT BUY FROM THIS STORE, ESPECIALLY NOT GIFT CARDS. Bought a gift card here in store and when it was attempted to be used by the person I gifted it to we found out that had been used in the middle of the night fraudulently. The gift card was not tampered with and the PIN codes had not been scratched off so no idea how it could have possibly happened unless it was some kind of inside fraud where someone at the store or in supply chain has the PIN codes. Customer service at the store was absolutely no help and said this problem has been happening and the customer service phone numbers were of no help either and also admitted that there have been problems with the gift cards and fraud. Chana, you deserve a shout out for making this Sephora sparkle a bit to me during our quick unexpected pop-in while visiting the area. So much so, I am dropping a quick Yelp about it. It is often the customer service that absolutely sets the tone in a retail space. Very familiar with Sephora over many years and also being a self proclaimed "skincare junkie" of my entire life, I actually know a boat load about skincare and very little about make-up (because if you take great care of your skin, you will require little to no makeup!). But I am with my husband and we are seeking a specific coverup for him to cover a blemish for he has to speak at a funeral in front of hundreds the following day. This store is slimmer and longer than I am use to with a Sephora, but this little spot packs a punch. Makeup generally up front, skincare in back, very clean, very organized, despite the chaotic weekend business of shoppers and holiday displays. Queue Chana to the stage. I am the first person to decline assistance from Sephora staff who I kind of always think are never going to know as much as I do about skincare and are too green to really understand the science behind skincare, but I actually want help this time because I need to color match my husbands skin. Clearly proficient in make-up and not pushy in the slightest for I am not willingly bowing to the idea that a Sephora staff member will get this right, but Chana made me let down my guard. Color match with the MAC product we needed and a suggestion of a product from Caudalie that I was not familiar with (because as a skincare junkie I am certain I know it all), Chana was the unexpected WOW to me in our quick visit. I've been to many different Sephora locations in the Bay Area; I must say that this is the best one, by far. I went to this Folsom location, since mine is closed in Roseville. Sephora stores are all generally the same. They sell the same products and have a similar set up. The factor which sets this apart from the others is the outstanding customer service and product knowledge. Mary is the most attentive and knowledgeable Sephora employee I've ever consulted. I was in-need of a new, daily skin regimen and was luckily paired with her. Mary provided stellar service and listened to all my concerns, before recommending any products. She added a layer of warmth and humor, as I was very nervous to go out of my comfort zone. Mary didn't try to sell me something I didn't need, nor did it feel as though I was being ripped off. There were other friendly associates, including the person at the register. Not only are they using best-practices for the COVID situation, the Sephora employees are able to spend as much time needed with individual customers, meeting all of their needs. Young man on headphones reporting to someone (through the headphones) as to how many customers just entered. Ok, this didn't prove to be stupid until later. We wandered about looking for products. Not ONE salesperson in sight to help. We just wanted to spend a gift card and never come back at this point! My friend picked up two items, but she needed to spend more to use up all of her gift certificate. We looked at the checkout line. UTTER SHOCK. EIGHTEEN people in line - NOT KIDDING! 18! And only ONE salesperson at the checkout. My friend said "let's just go". I said "No, I will get in line, and you pick the third item that you need. Just make sure you spend that stupid gift card!" While thirty minutes of my life were already wasted standing in line waiting to GIVE SEPHORA MONEY, I observed THREE employees walk up behind the counter, put things on the back counter for other customers, and then they DISAPPEARED AGAIN. Those customers (I witnessed this) were told by these employees "Just wait in line". Those customers had the same look of shock and abandonment on their faces as the shock I was feeling. SEPHORA: CUSTOMER SERVICE 101!!! TAKE CARE OF YOUR CUSTOMERS! Two registers were open, with no employees behind them. UNACCEPTABLE! FIFTEEN more minutes passed, we finally were called to checkout. I was here the other day to pick up some beauty essentials. I think it's a smaller Sephora but still with lots of products and brands at your heart's content. Parking is always a little tricky here but once you find a parking spot, you can easily walk to this corner destination. The staff were all super friendly, asked if I needed help with anything. Overall, lots of products to choose from, it can be overwhelming. You can sample and try almost everything and I love being a loyalty member so you can earn free samples or products. I used gift cards to purchase a few items while on vacation that I didn't like so I made the trip to this Sephora to return them. While finishing the transaction, I specifically asked the cashier if I'd be able to use the refund online and she said "Yes, you just use this code right here." So I walked away happy...until I got home and discovered I cannot use the merchandise credit online. When I called to discuss this with the store, Jennifer was very unhelpful. They obviously need to train their employees better. Had the cashier been knowledgeable and answered accurately, I would've shopped while in store but now I have to make another trip since it can't be used online. Well, this Sephora has been completely disgraceful. They have sold use a horrible product with out being remorseful, let alone helpful in any way. The product (lotion) was completely moldy and nasty. The sales lady said, well you must have gotten a bad one with Covid and all. We bought the product for only three weeks. Using it at day 2 or 3. We had to throw it out right away, considering it was black mold and may create a terrible health issue. We have a 13, 4 and 2 year old kids, so it got dumped out quickly. However, it appears to be my fault of not keeping the terrible health issue item. And waiting for time off to bring it in for a refund. Black mold can seriously damage the body. But Sephora's sales ass, it's supervisor, did not consider this one bit. They did not look up my account, ask for a receipt of proof of purchase... nothing....except "without item call cooperate yourself" I then had to spend hours over the phone speaking to several reps before finally getting to "mgmt". After speaking to the supervisor she issued a refund only after I said, I would like to close my account with Sephora. After that Ordeal, I wanted to have nothing to do with Sephora and it's bank again. Reason being, We called the bank shortly after, again speaking with someone that supervisor quoted "needed more training in this area" but was told we had to pay to close our account...? And with closing it today, i would lose my credits and rewards. Normal? Nope. Again and two hours later, had to speak to higher up to see what is going on. She said she would waive the fee if I didn't close down my account. This is extremely inappropriate and let's not talk about customer service. Lowest form of life EVER. UGH. My disgust for a store has not been so bad since experiencing this. And believe me, I have worked years in retail and customer service. I have experienced a lot of different characters myself. So that is why when I went in and even speaking with cooperation, I kept my composure, was patient, and explained in complete detail and was accurate Throughout the entire experience. Customer service helps its customer not protect its company. Again and again, disgraceful is just a courteous way of explaining how Sephora at the Palliado handles its business. This is my second time coming here to get my makeup done. I scheduled the Sephora deluxe which is essentially a makeover with a $50 purchase but you must make an appointment ahead of time. My makeup artist was Miriam who I loved! She and I got along so well and she did my makeup exactly how I wanted it! I purchased foundation that she introduced me to because the current one I am using by Too Faced separates and I was getting tired of it. I also bought a beauty blender. I made an appointment for a make over at Sephora in the Palladio for a party that I was invited to attend. I showed up for my appointment time and was greeted by Anne who told she would be my make up artist. She asked me how I wanted my make up done so I showed her a photo of myself on a previous occasion where I had my makeup done at a Sephora in San Francisco. The eyeshadow was rose gold and paired with a pink shimmery lip and matching blush. Simple enough? Wrong. She picked out a concealer shade that was way too light for my face. I looked like a ghost. She laughed and said my skin was too light for any of their concealers. This clearly isn't true because I've had my make up done multiple times in the past and it has never been an issue. She used extremely dark eyeshadow and applied thick black eyeliner on both my top of bottom lash line. I told her it was way too dark and didn't look like the picture I wanted at all. My eyebrows were also uneven and looked like they were drawn on with a crayon. She tried to fix my make up multiple times but each time it looked worse. She finally called the manager over who said to me, "I don't think it looks that bad." (If you even have to say that, it looks bad.) the manager then told me that they had no one else to do my make up and they were fully booked. She said they could only remove my make up and not charge me for the application, but would have to still charge me for the lashes. I told her I don't care I'm already late for the party and had been here for so long at this point that I just need to leave and get ready. Also multiple employees continuously walked by while this was happening making me feel uncomfortable. I'm sure they heard what happened and wanted to get a look at my botched make up job. It was humiliating. I was so uncomfortable the entire time. Another make up artist, I believe her name was Maddie, had a last minute cancellation and said she could take me. She said the make up wouldn't be as clean and defined because I still had some smudged black eye liner left around my eye from the previous "artist" that did my make up. I told her I don't mind and thanked her for saving the day. She finished my make up and I was really pleased with the work she did. I asked for her Venmo so I could leave her a nice tip. When I was finished and paying for the lashes, I also picked out about $50 worth of make up to purchase. When I was finished paying at the register and turned to walk out of the store, I heard Maddie and another employee behind the counter bust out laughing. I decided to not leave her a tip based on that. I also would've returned all the make up on the spot but I was extremely late to the party and didn't want to miss it. I had been there for about three hours at this point and needed to go home and get dressed still. I returned everything I purchased the next day because of how I was treated by the employees. I felt extremely uncomfortable due to the employees lack of professionalism. Sephora please train your make up artists better so no one else has to go through the humiliation I did that day. I showed my friends and family members photos of the botched work the artist initially did and they all were in complete awe that a Sephora make up artist did such a terrible job. I'm too embarrassed to post the photo here. I will never be back. No one should ever walk out of a Sephora make up store feeling stressed, humiliated, and as uncomfortable as I did that day. I love me some Sephora! And I refuse to go to Arden Mall these days cause the whole place is just tragic. So I was really excited when I found out that they opened one at the Palladio. We live in Elk Grove and drive up to Folsom for just about everything we can. I came into this Folsom Sephora and it is clean and has everything I needed the one star is the staff was overbearing. My mom kept asking "do they think we're going to steal something?" In the hour we were there we saw every person in the store at least 3 times asking if we needed anything, did we have questions, etc. It was entirely too much and actually really annoying. Im a VIB at Sephora and a major skin junkie so the overbearingness of this all was just toooooo much!!! But Ill still go back cause I love Sephora! Love love love this place! I'm so incredibly happy that they have opened up a Folsom location. I live & work nearby making this very convenient. There is also a nearby parking structure, and plenty other restaurants/restroom within walking distance. The ambiance is lovely, a traditional Sephora look and set up. It has a fairly average size space to hold merchandise. This is not considered a "runway" location so unfortunately Folsom will not carry all products in the store- (like possibly i.e: San Francisco would.) However the good news is the staff is really awesome at ordering things online for you free of shipping right to your house if products are not available. I've done this a few times and it's always arrived in a decent timeframe. Another perk about this place/company is they always give samples for you to try at home. When you spend money you receive "points" and those points can be redeemed for free gifts offered or they can be saved for something bigger. And the more you spend the greater "status" you gain. For me: this is super motivating and exciting every time I shop! I have over 3,000 in points and I have a VIB status. But I will be at ROUGE status soon, very exciting. Great place, amazing products, great people. I recommend this place all the time. It's definitely my favorite store to shop at. read more
