This review is for the spray tan option as I have never used the tanning beds. Spray tanning is a blessing for those of us with pale skin that burns instead of tans. I go here frequently because it's close to my house and I have not had any problems yet. The staff have always been friendly, and helpful. Maybe I always arrive at off-times but there's virtually no waiting for the booth. The important considerations for the spray tanning booth are paper towels and lotion. They've never run out of those supplies, and they always offer you the option to have booties and a cap. I don't use the booties because I want the tops of my feet to get sprayed, and in the past I've had tanlines from the edge of the booties. I do use the caps though, because I have bleached blonde hair and I don't want the product to seep into my delicate porous strands of hair. The only complaint I have about the tanning booth is that the air dry passes are cold air. It would be so much more pleasant if it was warm air. Unfortunately I think this is more of a manufacturer issue then the business. read more

Respectfully, can CalSun go back to offering a basic tanning membership? Not everyone needs all the wellness add-ons when some of us already have that at home. Paying $30/month for access to one bed is getting a little ridiculous. Please cater to the members who just want to tan too. read more

I used to have a Cal Sun membership but had to cancel it a while back. Decided to come back in for a sunless tan and wow... so much has changed! I honestly wish I knew more about the options they offer now, but when I was asking questions at the front desk, I kinda felt like I was annoying the girl working there. So I just kept it simple and went with the basic spray. To be fair, she was working solo and there was a pretty long line, so maybe she was just overwhelmed, I didn't take it personally. The spray tan machine worked great, and the color came out awesome! It lasted about a week or two before it started fading, which was exactly what I expected. Next time I think I'll try the smaller location closer to my house, hopfully it's a little more relaxed and I can take more time to ask about the newer stuff. read more

Tried this location once more, again disappointed. It was earlier today 4/11/24, before 5 pm, one young lady on. She was helping someone before me, customer had brought her lotion she had purchased, to return it because she was having an allergic reaction. The young woman called the owner and told the customer the owner would not take it back because it must be within 10 days. The lotion had hardly been used, the lady bought it March 27 and it's April 11th. She offered it to the other customers because she had no use. The young lady working here had the conversation with the customer and owner publicly, in front of about 6 customers. She could've been more discreet, respectful and professional. She moves on to helping me. This owner could really benefit from offering the young woman some help in professionalism, a course, some advice, something. She was argumentative with me about what I normally do, that the spray tan machines they've had for a long time (although I know theyre newer), and so on. It was obnoxious and embarrassing. She didnt inform me she charged my card for additives, I ask her bc I see that a discover is charged on her screen, she says 'oh yeah I charged you for an add on accident, ' she didnt say anything about it until I mentioned it. She said she would void it, never gave or offered me proof of that. She argued about the new spray tan machines being there forever yet she accidentally charged me because its confusing dealing with them??? Since she's not use to it?? Had she been nicer or more professional in all this, I wouldve let it go, but she wasnt. read more

Buyer beware!!! You can't just visit for a tan. You either have to pay an exhorbantant one time fee, or they will push you into a monthly subscription which is INCREDIBLY difficult to cancel. You can't do it in store. I tried to cancel in store, and was sent to the website. I tried canceling on the website only to discover that you will have to pay for at least one additional month no matter when you cancel. So you're on the hook for at least 3 months, and the services don't roll over. I was being charged $30, and didn't know I was going to keep getting charged even after canceling, but when I went back to try and use the 'service' I had been forced into paying, I found out it was expired. Lots of money with nothing to show for it. Don't fall for it. They are clearly making their money on charging subscriptions and making it difficult to cancel rather than the actual services they offer. read more

This place is just terrible. I went there today to become a member and they tried to slip an excessive charge past me and on to my credit card without me noticing. I did. As I stood there explaining to the receptionist that this was incorrect, other customers showed up to check in. It was definitely interesting g to see the clientele and to hear their vulgar, inappropriate language. I would not want to lay my body where these kinds of people lay their bodies and sweat. And after encountering the intellectually challenged staff, I cannot be assured that things would even be cleaned or maintained. I just received the best service from a young lady (on July 3rd) that went above and beyond to help my daughter and me. We slid in at 15 minutes to closing, which we wouldn't normally do unless we had no other option. There was an issue with my account and then the discount for my daughter wasn't showing. Decided to get my T out of my GTL filled day. Lucky for me my bestie loves to get his tan on, too. I decided on getting spray tan. I am cool on all the UV stuff. Got 3 for 30 instead of 15 bucks each. Good deal. My friend, however, does the tanning beds and apparently forgot his eyewear. Once I was done he was out there trying to get some eyewear and for her to restart the bed. She called all over (I am assuming corporate or another store) to get a code to reset this tan. He has a membership and something to do with it already being checked in was the issue at hand. Literally he waited there for a good 10 minutes before she figured it out. From what I overheard on her end of the phone conversation this is something they should ask everyone ... do you have eyewear. Oopsie. During this time I am waiting in the lobby and she says "I can help you right here". Ummm ... okay, yeah I am already done you goob. LMFAO. When my friend walked out of the room, she asked him the same damn thing. SO FUNNY. I should give it another star just for amusing me but honestly they have too young of staff to be working there. It got busy and they were all sweaty and looked like deer in headlights. I will go back to finish out my tans but I will probably try a different location next time. read more

I have had several wonderful experiences at this location. The two different ladies that have helped me were attentive and genuine. They sold me several different products based on my skin needs(Which smell incredible) and helped guide me into which membership would work best for me. I appreciate their service and time spent helping me make the best decision. I love going to CA Sun, it feels like a treat to myself. So far, I have done the red light therapy bed which I adore! I did the cocoon pod thing which was not my favorite but relaxing -and of course their tanning beds. Have yet to try the spray tan. I will definitely recommend this location. read more

I am thoroughly convinced it is due to the effective and efficient management of the associates by their leader Paige. It is kept exceptionally neat, clean, and organized. Updated review: customer service from many associates isn't as great as our experience with Lacy and even though one of them went over every product line with me the same woman tried to do it again the next day. It didn't feel personable, more pushy than anything to make a commission. Benefits changed based on who was working and I purchased a bottle of $100 lotion (when I asked for one that wouldn't stain my skin or contain DHA) and it stained my skin. When I'd shower the water would run off and be brown. When I tried to return the lotion after being out of town and not tanning for almost 10 days, they wouldn't honor the return and offered $5 off if I gave them the almost full bottle back. When waiting I could hear the trainer talking negatively about other employees and how training was pretty much terrible for her. The massage chair was nice but left me very sore and some of the buttons didn't work in the 3rd level tanning bed. I don't recommend this establishment due to pricing, inconsistency, attitudes, and equipment not being up to par. I did read reviews but wanted to tan to be ready for summer and I should've just went somewhere else or laid outside, which I do now and my tan is amazing. read more

Tried to cancel my membership in June but they were closed due to covid. Or so I thought because knowone answered the phone. Went in July 1st to cancel membership in person because they were open and was told I had to do it through corporate. Spent all day searching website and on phone with corperate to cancel. Finally cancelled membership only to find that not only was I charged for July but they charged me an additional "$10 once a year annual fee" ( I had only been a member 4 months) because everything procced on the 3rd instead of before the first. I used this membership 1 time in the beginning of March. I WAS NOT CHARGED FOR APRIL OR MAY due to covid. But they still managed to get about $100 bucks worth of charges out of my account before the membership was canceled. They also still charged me this August but agreed to reverse it after I produced a proof of cancellation email stating it would be closed effective Aug 1st. The moral of this story is beware, they will charge you for anything they legally can and will until you make sure it has stopped. read more

Been a member for 2 years. Originally told my monthly charge (on credit card) would be $18/month. Without any notification, I now find out it is $27/month plus a one year "facility fee" of $10 /year which was never disclosed to me. When I inquired I was told I got a special one-time rate -- apparently only good for some unknown period of time. This was never explained to me. AND YES i was in there when it happened and the man tried to take my purse but the manager quickly handed him the money before he was able to get my purse then he ran out the door and the manager locked the door , the next part I was not thinking but I did this anyway, I had the manager unlock the door I went outside and viewed him duck behind a car where he started counting the money so I screamed loud" I have been robed help help and chased him the men I saw close by I caught there attention they ran toward and after him the bad guy got up and ran... Now we all were after him...ANYWAYS a long story short Because of me they caught him shortly down the street, during the chase the cops came because the manager had dialed 911...... I can tell you this because of me they were able to get all of the money back I was told close to 3 thousand ......a very very horrible experience and my choice may have not been the best but it was a good outcome but to this day I HAVE NEVER HEARD A peep A CARING THING OR absolutely one thing FROM CAL sun but I guess they know I am fine now ...... and I had been a steady customer for 10 years here... I was blown away that I had gone threw that experience there and they had not reached out or anything ...forget the fact that if not for me an my help they would have lost thousands... I went back a couple weeks later to see what became of this sitch....and found the manager had quit because they treated her so bad and for the way they handed the situation. They made her stay and work the rest of the day ...I cant imagine being at my first job and having that happen... The tanning beds here are well maintained and they have a variety of beds to choose from, plus spray tanning and red light therapy. The staff are always friendly. However, there are a few issues with this company that I've experienced at every location. Their prices are outrageous, and you HAVE to have a paid monthly membership to buy more than just a single tan. Example, you can't just buy a ten-tan package to get a price break by buying a package like at most places. No, you can ONLY buy packages if you buy a monthly membership. If you want to tan without a membership, you can buy one tan at a time, but be prepared to pay outrageous prices. Another issue is they try to hard sell you on anything and everything every single time you go in. And I mean, the hard sell. They will NOT leave you alone. There is no way you will ever be able to just walk in, check in, and tan. It's a minimum of five extra minutes of hard selling you on their overpriced products and packages every time you go in. And that's only if you turn them down firmly. The other issue is check in time. The company keeps a very minimal crew at every location, and with the staff's main focus being hard selling customers every tine, the check in process if there's even one person in front of you is at least 10-15 minutes. Today there were two people in front of me checking in, and one of them was buying a new package. I waited 27 minutes to check in! I don't blame the staff for this, I blame the company. They should use some of the money from the outrageous prices they charge to have at least two people working at all times. One person could help new members or members needing more attention, while the other just does quick check-ins for those of us who just want to get our tan done and go. I only go here because there's one close to my house, and since I work all over town, I can pop into any other location if I'm out and about. Otherwise, I'd never go here. read more
