Had a great experience today. I was enthusiastically greeted immediately by Brigid upon walking towards the fragrances in the back of the store. Brigid was an absolute angel talking to me about a specific gift set that I was looking for. Unfortunately, they didn't have it in the store but Brigid was able to order it online for me. Walking in to sephora without makeup on - no greeting. Walking into Sephora with makeup on - they're literally chasing you to sell stuff on you. That's how I feel about this location. As I walked in today, not wearing any makeup but still well dress the two ladies who were talking to each other couldn't care less about me walking in , no greeting. No hello even though I SAID HELLO. Walking past the lady I hear her greeting other potential shoppers who walks through the doors. The store is small and cramped. Claustrophobia warnings!! Shopped themselves are unthoughtful. Blocks aisles and don't care if you need to just get through. Line is usually long. Kudos to the ONE girl on the back by the skin department who even just asked if I needed any help. I ended up walking out because of all the people. Lack of products and unprofessional staff. Went there with my boyfriend. We wore crop tops, I had forgotten how much of a tourist trap this area was (big mistake) The amount of attention over belly-buttons was unsettling. We went into Sephora expecting (I don't know what exactly) more of a welcoming environment and some friendly faces. We weren't greeted, and proceeded to be cold shouldered by most of the staff. I'm not sure if it was an off day, but what a disappointment. They've been running a lot of ads about "inclusion and happiness" when in actuality they made us feel more awkward than half of the grove. Entering this store is like walking into a toothache. Music blaring, garish lighting, with a bunch of workers rushing around like they are working in an emergency room. I couldn't stay in there for more than 2 minutes. I am not exaggerating, 2 minutes was it for me. Horrible store. read more

Very poor service. The managers reacted rudely when we asked for a bag. We asked him and he was very insulted and just shook is head and walked away. He kept mumbling about it like we had asked for free merchandise. I don't usually write poor reviews like this but this treatment was not needed. Not stroller/baby friendly. i was rudely interrupted by a worker as i was asking another worker where an item was located "to move myself & my stroller to an aisle (an aisle that was crowded with more people then the center isle (at the time that was clear of customers) i had been patiently waiting in for help. the middle aisle is large enough for traffic to pass through. My baby was sleeping perfect time for a mom to shop you think! Maybe she just doesn't like kids! I had both my hands on my stroller in no ones way. It was all very unnecessary. I've never had an issue at this location or any other. Till yesterday, I walked in around 6:30 the greeter did her thing , I smiled and went directly to the make up ever section because I was there with my teen who is a little emo kid and wanted colorful eyeliners. As soon as they picked up a pencil we were approach by a woman that was wearing more make up then the queen back in 1600s. She asked if we needed help which we didn't. I didn't think anything of it bc the staff usually approaches you and asks if you have questions. The issue I have is that in 5 mins I had 3 associates ask me whether I was finding everything ok, did I need help ? Did I need a matching ? This all sounds normal but the vibe was not it, especially when I had one associate looking at my kid from head to toe. I honestly felt like they thought we were gonna steal. And all my kid wanted was two colored eyeliners and a mascara and was treated like she didn't belong. I'll just keep going to the Sephora in Glendale they're much nicer and professional. I love Sephora but this one not so much. The store is small so although they try to stock all the brands, it's usually very limited. There are usually alot of associates scattered in the store and they are helpful and generous with the samples (if they aren't tending to the other 100 customers). It's in the Grove so obviously it gets super crowded on the weekends - products sell out quickly and the shelves empty out. I'd recommend the Sephora on Hollywood and Highland. It's HUGE and they carry everything! read more

I would like everyone to take a look at my letter and see the way they are responding to me. I am clearly a very unhappy customer and they keep telling me I've been served by one of their fabulous beauty advisors and have a good day. Are they totally blind or tone deaf? This is my seventh or eighth letter to them and they just keep saying everything's fine even though I am continuously complaining. They showed me the picture of one thing, they sent me a different product bottle. I'm fine if they would say hey we're sorry the wrong picture was up there but they keep acting like it's all fine even though I'm very unhappy. I rarely write a negative letter but they really deserve to be called out for terrible terrible terrible customer service. I'll start by saying that I like the layout and space of this new location. However, I've been to dozens of Sephoras and this may be the single one where I felt totally invisible. I arrived shortly after opening and was one of the only customers in the store. The "greeter" didn't even make eye contact with me, let alone say hello/welcome. The employees were either walking around with their gaze straight ahead or talking amongst themselves. There were some brands I was seeking out, and I'm sure I looked lost as I wandered around, but nobody asked if I could use any help. Instead, I had to approach someone if I wanted to ask a question. I made my purchase and on my way out, the same greeter again ignored me instead of saying goodbye/thank you. I would recommend this location for anyone who likes to be totally left alone while shopping. read more

Never had any issues finding what I needed here. They also seem to have ample stock in the latest releases. I'm a huge beauty junky and love trying out new products. Location is in the grove a little past the apple store. I'd say the most annoying part is getting down to the store with all the people traffic. 11.19.17 at 1:30 pm. Had a very negative experience at this particular Sephora. My fiancé took a photo of the wall display and the employee walked up to us and asked if he took a photo of a client. We both told her no. She responded in a very snarky, and rude manner and said the following- we had to call the authorities recently when someone did this, you wouldn't like it if someone did that to you, would you?? Etc. I felt incredibly put on the spot and extremely uncomfortable. I 100% understand why you cannot take photos of customers in the store, and I agree. We were wrongly accused, and then instead of the employee apologizing, she became defensive and continued to reprimand us and justify her actions in a condescending tone. Ok, woah there Sephora! This new and improved location is a-mazing! So much more to offer here that most smaller locations don't have (like the in-store facial bar). I had gotten an invitation for their grand re-opening, and let me tell you, they didn't disappoint. It was like a perfect little piece of makeup heaven. Every tester was brand new, everything was well stocked, and all the employees were kind and attentive. Even their gifts for the Beauty Insider points were better than most locations. My sister (who is a minor) and I went shopping yesterday this was our first time at the grove location having the best day until this....We were being rung up by Aly who was extremely rude and had an attitude the entire time for whatever reason. (Retail isn't the greatest I understand but does not give you any right to have an attitude with ANY ONE). My sister had a question about her gift card she didn't have it at the time, but asked if she can just use the numbers because she had pictures of it (Other Sephora locations have allowed this). Aly said no immediately then went to another employee asking came back with the same answer and said only if you add it to your Apple wallet. My sister and I didn't know how to do it, so if Aly and the other employee said we could you would think they would know how to add it. My sister asked well does your manager know how to do it? And Aly's response was "no you need to figure it out yourself". If you're going to say for us to do it one way then I would expect you to know how to do it or even at least be respectful when answering her questions!! Long story short do not want to be assisted by Aly she is RUDE and if you're having a bad day do not bring it to work. If you do not like your job go find a new one! First with the boyfriend (which I ended up walking out empty handed) because I was being timed! Yep, that's true all that is pretty much what goes on in my head (not out loud) while moseying through each isle filled with chicks trying on products and getting their makeup done. This place was packed okay! I honestly didn't want to spend money, I swear. But I needed that Sephora concealer brush the helpful Filipino girl with long hair recommended. *Shoutout to all my Filipinos, heeeyyyy.* LOL and I needed that ABH brow pomade and I needed a new setting spray (mine was empty). You see, I needed the stuff. I'll admit I'm stoked Sephora has opened up in my hood. I can spend a good 45 minutes in that place. The staff was helpful and attentive, walking around with baskets to hand to consumers, asking if we needed assistance. You know, the works. I love that Sephora gives out samples -that's honestly I think the best part about the store. To me it shows that they care about their customers & sales. Like, look I don't want you coming in here returning shit -so try this. The samples I picked up are an absolute hit! I'll be back to buy them. Anyone looking for makeup products/fragrance: You are able to sample MOST of the products. So I highly recommend asking for samples of things you're REALLY interested in testing out prior to purchasing. I walked in needing a new foundation, new brand and shade. Ricardo (I think that was his name ) was so incredibly kind and patient in helping me find the perfect shade and formula. It's always been difficult trying to find my shade and he took the time to find it. When my summer tan comes in I will definitely be going back to him to help me try and find my new shade. Also in the skincare section there was a woman (I didn't get her name) but she was so kind and helped explain the different products and benefits of the First Aid Beauty line that I've been hearing so much about. Over all I went in looking for foundation left with the perfect match, a fabulous dry oil and a perfume to die for. The service at the Grove Sephora was extremely rude!!! Most of the testers were missing and when I asked a salesperson for a brow gel tester she said I should just wait with an attitude. The cashier was equally rude. I had $55 worth of products and left them behind at the counter. I will take the short walk over to Nordstrom & buy the same things. The service at Century City Sephora by the way is excellent and I am a long time Sephora customer. Will not be returning to the Grove location. Disorganized and rude! read more

I got my makeup done by Lilliana (I can't remember her name exactly) this morning and she was amazing. Very kind and good at what she does. My issue is with the manager or beauty lead that was working over the area. She charged me for a 90 minute service when I booked a 60 minute session because my MUA went outside of the time frame booked. This was out of my control and completely unprofessional for her to come over to me to say she had to charge me. She should have confronted the makeup artist in private about working within time slots. I should not have been held accountable for something that was out of my control and it was very rude to say something to me about it. What was her expectation for me to get up with a face that was incomplete? It's not like I had asked for anything extra with my service--my artist was just taking her time. I was running late to an event so I did not have time to confront her during my appointment, but I am very disappointed at the lack of professionalism and quality customer service. Someone please review with her proper ways to speak to employees and customers because she will definitely run more people away. I wish I got her name to report her. This place has always been an exciting place for my daughter and I to go together. We are allowed to try on as much make up and skin care products as we want without there being any raised eyebrows. And the women at this location were very kind and always smiling which made us feel instantly comfortable. My daughter did go a little bit overboard with the glitter nail polish but they didn't seem to mind. They were giving away many samples today of products they normally don't do that with. I received a sample of their "miracle Botox" which I have yet to see a result with but Apparently it takes 3 days for results. Makes sense. read more

I'm giving them 5 stars but 4 of those stars are for Missy! OMG! I went in, since my birthday is coming and I wanted to revamp my skin care, which up until now has been pure fresh cut aloe vera daily, raw honey mask, and regular facials at Burke Williams. I have great skin, and constantly get complimented on it, but I wanted eye cream, and anything that will keep me young forever. Missy saved me from my skin product ignorance. She instructed me on serums and other stuff, what they were for, what exactly was in them (yes I'm that kind of girl) and what would work best for my needs. She is super knowledgeable, and I'm picky, I can dissect a sales-pitch regurgitating robot in a New York minute, but Missy is confident, knows her stuff and exudes positive energy and her own skin is radiant. She's like a skin expert. ok, ok, I'll stop gushing about her now. I purchased amazing eye creams for day and night and got samples of serums to try since my skin care is so basic, I need to go slowly. I walked out of there feeling amazing, my skin looked radiant from the specific products she tried on my skin. I couldn't have had a better nor a happier experience. The other ladies were super friendly and helpful too, I just love the vibe of the place. My new favorite Sephora store, I will only go to this one from now on. read more

I'm going to preface my review with saying that I'm from NorCal and I'm used to the Sephoras being better stocked (even at smaller malls) and having testers. I don't know if it's because the Grove is a pretty touristy area and maybe all the testers have gotten stolen or something but BARELY any of the testers were out. This location was also pretty much out of stock of most of the popular items (except the Sweet Peach stuff was decently in stock), again, I'm attributing that to the Grove being a pretty touristy place (... but shouldn't they plan for a high volume of customers?). If you need your makeup done for an upcoming event, ask for Mayra. Wow did she do an amazing job on my makeup this past weekend for my company holiday party. I used a picture of Kim K. as my inspiration (thinking it was a little ambitious) but Mayra seriously NAILED IT. I have never felt more beautiful in my life and I owe it all to Mayra. Thanks again, Mayra! You slayyyyed my face :) Also shoutout to Shannon who was greeting people at the door. She had such a radiating personality and was definitely bringing that holiday cheer. Today however, the lady at the counter literally emptied the basket onto the counter as if she needed to let out some steam on my products. Not only did she not say hello, she barely asked me if I was a member at the end as if she really did not want to be there and she had enough of life.
