Great experience here every single time :) I came here to buy my foundation and some powder. Got all the way home though and found that the display powder that said medium was not the same as the powder I ended up taking home. The one I ended up with was for very very dark skinned girls and it still said medium.. First of all, I love the makeup here. But the customer experience I witnessed today was awful. My friend and I went in to get some samples of foundation. One lady was super sweet and greeted us and found someone to help up with the samples. The girl who helped us with the samples acted like we weren't even worth her time. She grabbed one foundation and put in on my hand. I said "Oh I don't think this is my color it's really dark." She said "Well your face is a little darker" and I mentioned to her that I do put a little bronzer on my face so I don't look so pale. She then looked at me and said very sarcastically and rudely, "Well you're not going to put the makeup on your hand are you?" I'm in customer service so I am very understanding but I was so blown away at how rude someone would be when all we wanted was some help and guidance. I've spent so much money at Sephora but the mixture of judgmental and pushy staff, lack of stock, and the sheer amount of 12 year olds allowed to tirade the store even though they can't buy anything finally has me pushed out. I have been coming to this Sephora for years. I always get very good service. All the employee's seem very knowledgeable in what they are taking about. I'm pretty well versed in cosmetics, so I don't usually have questions, but when I do, they are more than willing to help. I always get nice compliments about my makeup which is always a plus, as I can feel self conscious walking into Sephora with all the other ladies and their nice makeup. The only downside to this location is every time I go in there, I feel like there are a lot of young preteens, and younger teens in there (more so than other Sephora's I've visited). I will see them opening new products to test, instead of using the testers. This has nothing to do with the store, as they can't help it, and we don't want to discourage teens from trying makeup, but it would be nice if they used the testers that are available for that reason. read more

I appreciate that I was not pressured into purchasing a $20 eyeliner, but instead shown their own brand which I actually liked a lot better. The older blonde/gray haired woman and several of the other employees ARE EXTREMELY RUDE AND NOT HELPFUL at this store. I can't stand shopping at any establishment where the staff is paid to do a job and they are horrible at it. I will not spend another dime at Sephora until this problem is fixed. The sales associates on the floor are not helpful, rude and honestly disrespectful. I went in to this location for the 2nd time on Monday (my first experience was horrible too) and I was in my lazy day clothes.. I wear nice clothes all week and want to just be lazy on my weekends.. well these associates followed me around the whole store from the time I walked in till I paid for my $100 products. I find it extremely judgmental to follow someone who is just trying to find a new foundation around the store... I am part of the loyalty program and shop online most often, now I remember why! go to Macy's or Nordstrom, they are honestly a lot nicer, listen to your skin needs and help you find the best you can get for your skin needs... the Sephora associate was suggesting cheap brands that I told her SEVERAL times I do not use as they didn't help my skin and I was trying to upgrade to something more expensive to see if the it was worth it, PLUS I always watch beauty bloggers and this is what they suggested... they are RUDE.. never going back here again.. oh and my fist experience the line was so long it took me 45 min to get through... associates were standing around while we all waited! read more

This location is quite horrible. I have only rarely had good service and that is only with the employees who work skincare. Those who work makeup always pass me by and ask another customer if they are in need of assistance. I was fully willing to spend a heap load of money the times I pop in, but they just don't seem to approach me, or want to even help me, and instead, go to other customers. One particular time, I was looking for an eye product and kind of wanted the employee to do a demo on me so I can see how a particular eye look I was going for suited me. First, she verbally mentioned the products. Then, when she took me to them, and I suggested my unfamiliarity with applying the eye product, she said that she could do a demo, but that there are also a lot of youtube tutorials... So why are you even here? What's the point of having people work there? The only reason I am giving it two stars is as a previously mentioned, the girls who work skincare are generally kinder and I have had good experiences with them. Maybe I'm just not the kind of customer this store wants to care about. Weird, because I haven't had this experience at other sephora stores but it is just lynnwood. (the Lynnwood ulta has a similar issue). In sum, the service needs to improve. read more

The staff at this Sephora has always made me feel welcome, provided good customer service, and made excellent product recommendations. They took time to help me find the right color foundation (a bit of a challenge since I'm extra pale) On another visit one of the associates taught me a couple of make up tricks that have been extremely helpful. Walked into the store and it was a wreck. There was make up all over the shelves, and it was dirty. Walked around for about 10 minutes and anybody who worked there made eye contact and avoided me by walking around, instead of directly in front of me. Walked in with the intention of buying 300$ or more of make up for school and felt very unwelcome in the loud and dirty store. Will never shop here again. read more

What my girls and I love most about this store is that we can come in and just look and play. We use to go to Ulta and they follow you around and you feel pressured and watched. Made us uncomfortable. I wont buy anything if I feel pressured. I buy a lot of things here for me girls and myself and I love the platinum rewards. I have always loved coming here but last time I got the worst customer service experience in my life from Sephora. I walk in (this is the actual store Sephora, not the one in JCPenny) and I did not get greeted, nor did anyone ask if I was looking for anything or if I needed help, I was going to buy makeup and some skin care product, I asked one of the employees that was right next to me if they could check a price for me on how much the product is, he told me he would but continued to stand there and talked on his microphone to see if anyone else could help me and I was standing there for 20+ minutes still waiting on a price check with the guy still standing right next to me. I ended up putting all the stuff I was going to buy back and walked out. But they had no problem standing by eachother, talking amongst themselves. I had to walk up and interrupt their convo for them to tell me where the Becca section was! They were also out of almost every popular product.. Got so fed up that I walked over to the Sephora inside Jc Penneys, and found everything I needed there and was also helped by some very nice women.. Step your customer service up. I have shopped at a few sephora stores, but I have to say this one at the alderwood mall in Lynwood is the worst, and I won't be returning, after having the same poor experience twice. As I get in line to pay for my products, behind 10 other waiting customers, I look to the check out desk and there are 4 registers but only 2 clerks checking out customers, while I counted at least 9 employees just wandering around the store basically doing nothing but walking around. If you want return customers, make their experience enjoyable, not annoying. read more

Okay - decided to try this Sephora one last time . Came in after having a facial with no make up on ( maybe that was my mistake ?) Not a single associate greeted me . Not one . This review is for the Sephora on its own and not in the Jcpenney. I came to this location like I always do for my Sephora brand eyeliner. I'm not into make up that much, I am pretty good at doing it, but that night I was feeling a little adventurous and wanted to try some different shades of eye shadows and not stick with my usual light Browns. As I was browsing the Sephora brand eye shadows I was greeted four times in a span of maybe five minutes. After the fourth greet I found my color of eye shadow, and when I turned around there were two employees looking at me. At that point I knew they thought I was a "sketchy" person. I was dressed like a mom and not like a crack head. I had my two year old with me and he was in his stroller so I made it a point not to put anything in his stroller tray so they wouldn't think I was stealing, I held the items in my hand the whole time, I even waved at them with the hand that had the items, they turned around very fast and pretended they were doing something. I was then greeted again and I asked her about eye shadow primer, she showed me some and we even tried it out with the color I had just picked out, it looked awesome so I picked one of those up as well. As I was waiting for my husband to come to the store so he could pay (I forgot my wallet at home) I thought I might as well grab an eyeliner sharpener since I'm already here. I walked over to the sharpeners that are against the perfume wall, so I could see that being a little sketchy. I picked the usual one and looked up to see the same two looking at me again. My husband came and I walked up to the cash register, I was rung up by one of the two employees that were looking at me, gave them my beauty insider email, dropped $60.00 and told them to fuck off. I'm a VIB rouge member. This store is probably the worst Sephora I've ever shopped at (Trust me, I've been to many). Nobody greeted me, and the associate I ask for help from pretty much refused to answer my question or offer me assistance. I went to the manager to complain about her behavior, and the manager just gave me a blank stare. However, there was an associate there who was extremely nice and offered me help. I have never walked out of a store so happy. I came in yesterday to get my makeup done for prom. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted and checked in. My stylist was a little late because of miscommunication with her manager, but it was only about 5 minutes so it wasn't a big deal. My stylist, Kylie, was an absolute sweetheart. I had come in last month to get a foundation match and had made my appointment with her the same day for prom. She made me feel like a princess. My makeup was amazing and she gave me her honest opinion about everything I asked. I have never felt so beautiful before and it was all thanks to her. The staff at this Sephora are all so incredibly friendly as well. As I was checking out, at least 3 other employees greeted me and told me how beautiful I look! I received countless compliments on my makeup and I couldn't be any happier. Kylie is an AMAZING stylist and person, I highly recommend her to everyone!!!! I love Sephora, because I love buying makeup and Sephora carries so many great brands. For the budget conscious, they have some lower end stuff, like their own Sephora line of cosmetics and tools, but they carry higher end brands as well such as Nars, Dior, and Smashbox, etc. If you've been in more than one Sephora, you realize they are all pretty much the same - however there are two things about this location in particular which I think are worth noting: The selection is just a tiny bit smaller than some other locations I have been to, including Bellevue Square, U Village, and a couple in CA. Also, for the most part the employees are friendly and helpful if you need assistance, but only one incident in particular stands out to me where a single employee was unjustifiably rude. (She was working at the cash register and the poor girl working with her just seemed mortified at how nasty she was acting, guess she was having a bad day....) Despite those little things, I feel that this is the best single store around Lynnwood if you are shopping for makeup or beauty items. read more

This is the first time that I've had a professional makeove done and I am so pleased with the results. I first sat down with a skincare specialist and she walked me through the toning and moisturizing process while giving me suggestions on products appropriate for my skin type. Then they sat me down with one of the make up artists, Colleen, who was conveniently wearing the same look that I wanted to achieve! She was super nice and friendly and very knowledgeable of the products she used. I felt like she genuinely cared about how I liked the products. The only reason why I didn't give 5 stars is because everyone seemed so swamped and constantly the employees were interrupting one another and it was a bit distracting. I know they were pretty busy when I came in but the make up counter could have been cleaned up a bit more. The mirror was a little dirty and the lighting wasn't great but I love my new makeup! read more

It was a struggle trying to get some help and when I was finally being helped the tall brunette was very rude. I've been going to alderwood mall since forever, and this sephora since it was very first put in. normally I get a fake smile and hello when I get in but can't get ANY help pretty much EVER and i'm in a wheelchair. They have a pretty good selection with exception to some skin care things that always seem to FLY off the shelves. Most recently I went in and was HOUNDED by just about EVERY sales associate there. while the teenyboppers and their knock off louis V bags were free to wander unencumbered. I kid you not, there was ALWAYS at least one sales person at the end of every aisle, or sometimes multiple sales girls just HAPPEN to be behind me or in my general area and it was ALL so ridiculous that they tried so hard to keep "recommending" things an insisting that I follow them, The red headed wilder beast TOOK my basket even though I wasn't done looking around, she insisted on it. I've dropped a great deal of money here and I don't understand this treatment. So apparently if any of you need to find help just follow me and SURE enough there will be 5 or 6 sales girls next to or behind me, not that I have ANY plans on going back in the near future. I was so pissed off I was tempted to make a seen, and that NEVER happens. I was planning on just leaving, but instead went through and picked out the cheapest items and bought those with my beauty insider card JUST to prove to these women that I CAN. This was the second time I have been to this Sephora outlet this week. The first time I went here was on a Wednesday afternoon, which was not a peak period. Nobody greeted welcome and the sales staff/promoters were all doing their own thing and avoided eye contact to the customers there. There were a couple ladies that came in the same time as I did and they were hanging around too, trying to get the attention but the staff were busy chatting and ignoring us. I came again two days later hoping that I can be helped (I am such a sucker I know) and still the staff were all walking around, not sure what they're doing and when my husband had to approach a lady to help me, she said "OK" blankly but then gave baskets to other customers who were at the Nars sections and then disappeared. My husband and I go upset and we both headed to Nordstrom where the Nars salesperson Mandy, was very helpful and informative. Long story short, fix your customer service Sephora! read more

Some employee's are really rude at first this girl was super nice. She had curly hair and short and, asian. She had cute make up as well. I asked her where a certain brand is and she showed me and said let me know if you need help finding anything else. I said thank you and looked around. I was in a different section looking at something and she was walking in front of me while I was looking at products and she rudely said excuse you while her and the customer passed. I was shocked. Honestly I'm not sure why some people at Sephora are really rude. I never thought this was true when people told me but now I can see it. They think you're stupid and know nothing about makeup. They also don't treat everyone with equal respect. Their should be equality. I'm not sure what values Sephora has but I'm pretty one of them is to be nice. All of the employees here were wonderful and incredibly helpful! I had a $100 gift card and with a purchase of $50 or more you can schedule a full makeover! I was originally going to go to the Sephora closest to me across the water in Kitsap County, however their next opening wasn't for another 2 weeks. When I called the Sephora in the Alderwood mall they had all kinds of availability, I was able to schedule it for the next day. They asked me multiple questions, such as was the makeup for a special event, how dramatic do I want it, what colors am I interested in etc. Anyway I got there and had my appointment with Megan Rock who was just amazing and not to mention totally gorgeous. The moment I looked at her I knew I was in good hands. She did a phenomenal job picking out products that she thought would work best on me based on descriptions of my skin type, color preferences, etc. She brought over multiple different products for me to pick from. There was a perfect balance between me picking what I liked and her choosing what to use based on her experience and what she thought looked best on me. She gave me awesome tips and answered all my beauty questions. I told her I had problems with getting my winged eyeliner and eyeshadow even and she gave me some great advice. I was totally stunned- it usually takes me 10 minutes to do my winged liner and I constantly have to redo it over and over until I get it right. Megan got it on the VERY FIRST TRY! Huge kudos to Megan- she is very talented. The store director was also so full of energy. While I was getting my makeup done the director repeatedly walked by and complimented me on my skin, and when it was all done she gave me more wonderful compliments. She made an effort to introduce herself to me and answer any questions I had. Overall I had a very pleasant and fun experience here. I have been a customer here since I started getting into makeup, so about 6 years. The makeup is great and I won't stop coming here for convenience's sake, but the customer service is really off-putting. Some of the workers here are great and helpful, but it seems like every time I come in here I'm given suspicious looks (being a teenager and all). The last time I went in, I asked for something specific, a black cream shadow. The girl who "helped" me smirked at me was really snobby about it, and kept saying things like, "Well, the only thing we have like that is like, gel liner, and I wouldn't put that all over my lids if I were you". It was like she just didn't want to help me out. So I just said thanks anyway and resumed the hunt myself. Found it. Make Up Forever has a black cream eyeshadow. :P I just feel like she was kind of unnecessarily rude. Like I said, a lot of people who work there are really nice, it's just that the number of times I've felt uncomfortable because of the employees there kind of ruins it. read more
