After eating at Kuma, I've yelped the closes mall in Torrance, and up pop Del Amo Fashion Center, and I was stoked to find out that they had a Sephora adjacent from LUSH, woohoo! This Sephora (along with LUSH) is located in the shopping center with Nordstroms and AMC theater. This was my first time EVER going to this mall, and so I made the rookie mistake by going to the Macy's Men's and Furniture section adjacent to Crate & Barrel, which also houses Joann Fabrics, etc., and Burlington Coat Factory, and got lost trying to find Sephora until I regrouped and found the AMC on Carson Street later. I thought they were in the same vicinity, lol! :p Anyways, once I found Sephora, oooh, I was in HEAVEN!!! This Sephora was bright, clean and spacious! Surprisingly, it wasn't as crowded on a Sunday afternoon as compared to the Sephora at home (Westfield Santa Anita, Arcadia). I was in the cashier line at most 15 mins. Around every corner, there was a Sales Associate, and they were nice and helpful, and greeted me as I walked by, and asked if I needed any help when I was browsing through the products. I find that the best way to get their attention: stand in front of a product, and start typing on your phone while looking at the product or take pics of the product(s). Instantly, a Sales Associate will approach you. Usually, this trick works for me ;) I came in to get the Makeup Forever Brush Set Cleaners $8, as well as redeem my free 100 Points: Clinique City Block Purifying Charcoal Mask + Scrub - got two of those! I also got some Clinique samples such as the Charcoal Cleanser and Foam Sonic Cleanser. I was slightly bummed when the Clinique Smart Serum ran out, and the Sales Associate, who had helped me pumped out as much as she can, but couldn't open a new bottle to give me a full sample. Sucks, but hey, at least I got one use out of it, lol! Overall, I had a fun time at Sephora, and will definitely be back here when I'm in the Torrance area again! read more

I didn't know they aren't allowing customers inside the store anymore. I should have checked to begin with, so that's my bad! Right now they are only allowing for you to pick up your online order, returns, or if you know what you want they will go inside and get it for you. You pay outside in a little booth. I was hoping to go inside because we all know the swatches you see in photos or online are not the same in person. I came in not knowing my shade basically. The young lady who helped me was amazing, she didn't have to help me find my match (I overheard another sephora male employee tell a customer they aren't color matching right now). She looked at some photos of swatches online and went into the store and looked at my skintone (socially distanced of course). She came back out and told me which one she thought would match best. Shopping at this Sephora in Del Amo Mall was the most UNCOMFORTABLE experience I ever had. I came in with my sister looking for the perfect eyeshadow palette. Because I am very indecisive, I took my time and like to spend my money wisely. The whole entire time I was shopping, I was being followed and closely observed by one of the security men. He was tall so you couldn't miss him. I felt extremely uncomfortable. It made my shopping experience very unpleasant. I felt extremely offended. Was it the color of my skin? How I looked that day after coming from the beach? Or because we took our time shopping? I noticed I was the only one being followed, alongside my sister who I was with. When I finally purchased my stuff and walked out, my sister mentioned it also. At first, I thought I was just overthinking things. But she noticed it too. It bothered us the rest of the night. So we walked back standing outside the store to see how he treated the other customers. Once we came back after about five minutes, he was posted at the exact same spot when we left. Not following anyone else. I have never had this experience in any other cosmetic store in Del Amo Mall. Every other makeup store always has a warm, welcoming, and friendly feeling. Seeing the reviews here, I wasn't so sure about coming here. I already had a bad experience with Sephora years ago at Downtown Disney so I didn't want to deal with another one years later. Came in today anyway and had a rather pleasant experience, fortunately. I was greeted by a few people and some also asked if I needed any help or samples. Huge yes to samples! I got a sample of a Marc Jacobs perfume, a Versace perfume and a Givenchy lipstick because although I somewhat want high-end products, I'm about the NYX Cosmetics life and don't want to pay more than $10 for most things :) Got a fairly good amount for the perfume samples. Considering I don't wear it alot but still wanted some, the sample sizes were perfect. I went on a Monday afternoon so... it was kinda busy but definitely not as crazy as it probably gets on the weekends. Excellent selection of products. Just wish it didn't cost so much :p but it is what it is. I did come out with a travel-sized Urban Decay Perversion Mascara so I'm excited about trying it out! read more

Shout out to Synclaire for doing an amazing job on my little sister for her prom! She not only did her makeup but talked her through the whys, how's, of applying her makeup for the future. Love that they carry a large selection of Tarte products (which is a line that doesn't test on animals, uses less chemical ingredients than other commercial products, is vegan and works great too). I was looking for some item to try out contouring and Mauricio helped me test out some Tarte products while giving me a tutorial on the best method of applying the makeup. Customer service is a hit or miss at this location. The check out line gets very long. There are times where they'll open all 3 registers and you can see they are trying their best, but there are also other times where one employee behind the register will randomly walk away and never return or send a replacement. Maybe they were called to tend to a more pressing matter? I'm not sure, but it doesn't seem like they are short staffed because you can see multiple employees standing idly around the store. There have also been multiple instances where certain items I am shopping for are out of stock. One time it was 2 different items in the same day...I recommend saving your time and shopping at Sephora online. read more

Me and my friend came to this Sephora and I was looking for products to get since my friend was paying for everything for my birthday. We needed help finding a concealer I wanted so we asked this girl with blue contacts for help. She immediately had rude body language and an attitude. I said hello and she just nodded her head at me. I even said thank you and she glared at me. She then proceeded to follow us throughout the store, the whole 45 MINUTES we were there. We felt very uncomfortable. She would follow us to every section of the store we went to, making it obvious. She finally stopped following us when she saw we were paying for everything. This behavior made me very uneasy. For the first time in Sephora history , I was color matched to a T.! Sylvia (I made sure I checked her name tag) was so helpful, so educated on the different brands & even tho we are so different she's dry and I'm oily, she knew exactly what to try on me. I think it's important & people should follow her lead - I am oily & told her that I'm the reason my makeup oxidized , but she told me it wasn't me and makeup does that (mind blown). Made an appointment for a custom makeover yesterday afternoon and loved the experience! Would recommend making a reservation beforehand - this location is always booked up. With the custom makeover session, it is a 45 minute session that is complimentary with a minimum purchase of $50. I worked with Allison and she is an amazing makeup artist! She asked questions about my vision for the look and really worked to enhance my features! I ended up purchasing quite a few of the products she used during the session and would definitely encourage you to venture out and try some new products. read more

I was interested in trying Fenty in my shade, since I never used it before I wanted a sample. However, they didn't have anything close, as usual. The mall was pretty busy with Christmas shoppers. The store was also quite busy. I came in looking to replace some eyeliner I ran out of. Taryn helped me find what I was looking for and asked if I needed anything else. I told her about some issues I was having with my current makeup. I basically told her that I was enhancing my flaws and wrinkles on my face with my current makeup and asked her for suggestions. I told her that I was tired of caking on makeup and not seeing the results I wanted. I also told her that I didn't want to use as many products and I did not want to look like I was wearing a lot of makeup. She sat me down in her makeup chair and went to work. She gave me a complete makeover. Not only did my skin look great,I also looked at least 10 years younger. I have received so many compliments on how much younger I look and how great my skin looks using the products she suggested and putting them on the way she taught me to. Taryn asked for my email and she sent me the names and colors of all the products she used on my face. In addition, I did not have to wait in the very long line at the cash register. She was able to check me out at a credit card station near her makeup counter. I also forgot my coupons and she was able to still give me the discount by using my email to look up my rewards account on the products I purchased without the coupon. This is one of the best Sephora's I've been to. The layout of the store is great (with the exception of the two tall displays right in the door which then make getting out of the store tricky because you can't see around then whatsoever). They have all the products you're looking for and the staff is very friendly. What made me write this review is their great customer service. I came in on a busy Friday evening and there were plenty of staff asking if I needed help but let me be when I said I was ok. They don't push you to let them help but are always there to answer your questions. I bought a palette and opened it up when I got to my car to realize the product was shattered. I'm not usually the type to go back but I was still here at the mall so I ran back inside to exchange it and I found the same girl who helped me check out. She was so sweet and helped me get a manager to exchange the item. All done in less than 5 minutes. Keep up the awesome work! read more

I bought the Drunk Elephant Vitamin C serum from this Sephora ages ago & used it promptly. The color of the serum was a darker orange from the first use so I assumed that this was as what the product should be like. However, when I recently repurchased a the same product I noticed that the color was a much lighter orange and did some research online. Apparently the color only turns darker orange when it's older and less effective. They sold me an older bottle...be careful about what you buy from this Sephora. read more

I am giving this store a 1star based solely on the product I purchased. Custom service is decent enough when I visit, but as a dude walking in I'm sure they assume I need more help than the average female client. If you have seen all the 'charcoal mask' videos online you will notice how much it gets out, how intense it seems to be ripped off the face, and does everything that Sephora's version does not. It cost $50, and remember when in elementary school you would pour a little bit of elmers glue on your hand, wait for it to dry, then peel it off? Its the same thing. It just peels right off. Doesn't take anything up from your face, all blackheads will remain. I thought maybe I didn't use enough. Made it extra thick, and still got the same problem. At best it made my face feel slightly softer (like any normal $1 mask would do). And the amount that I poured out, if it had actually worked, meant the bottle would only give me 2-3 masks amount of liquid. Do not buy this item, if you want to make a charcoal mask find out how to make it at home, otherwise you will waste $50 read more

I walked in ready to find new products/my shades myself because I was on vacation and didn't intend on buying anything at the time but was looking for future orders... Vanessa offered to help me and was happy to do so anyway despite me telling her that I didn't intend to buy today. She was extremely patient, very knowledgeable, and helped me find products that worked for my sensitive/dry skin. Not to mention, it only took her 1-2 tries to find my perfect shade for every product we sampled. I love the products she recommended, I've ordered them all. This particular Sephora gets ONE star from me. Not based off one visit but MULTIPLE visits on VARIOUS occasions. Why do I keep going back there? Because I have a JC card. Customer service there is non-existent. The people working there do not look like they are happy working there at all! The don't smile, they don't help. I went there not too long ago wanting to buy a $78 Josie Maran Reserve argan oil. It comes in a sealed box but the box they had on display were all open. So, I asked this customer service person to help me and he grabs one that was on display by the walk way outside of Sephora. I bought it, paid for it and left. While I was sitting outside, waiting for my hubby, I decided to check the box. To my disappointment, it was also open. Why the big deal? Because the bottle is not sealed, so if the box is not sealed someone could easily "sample" the product or it could get tampered with. So I went back to the same customer service person who sold me the bottle and I told him the box he just sold me had a broken seal, he said "it's no big deal". When I went to the cashier so she can help me, the cashier told me to have someone help me. Where was the other customer service person? HIDING! He was actually hiding! Yeah. I'm a long time client of Sephora and never had a problem at any of there locations from LA, Ontario, Palmdale, Las Vegas and everything in between except for this one at Del Amo. One more than three different days I've walked into this shop where I wasn't greeted or asked if I needed help by anyone (although you see some workers are chatting amongst themselves or lost in LaLaland) so I usually stick around a while just in case my experience may be different but NOPE always the same and the funniest part before I walk into Macy's or Nordstrom to purchase items I planned to buy from Sephora is the front door greeter always say thanks for coming and have a great day! So for starters I love Sephora! At this location I was such a big beauty insider, before covid of course. Yesterday my husband and I came to this Torrance location and applied for sephora credit card and our credit is amazing so let's say we got a great amount of credit. Before I discredit someone I'll like to thank Cruz for helping us yesterday she is more than informative and high spirits! Now when we went to check out the manager at the time Franky had us call customer service because we couldn't use the credit we were just approved for. So when she had us call customer service, and walked away... the person who she had to make sure we were at least trying to see what we could do. Tried as my husband was on hold and then the employee went and used 500$ credit before everything was handled. Everything I got was put back cause the manager Franky told us to come today and we will be able to use at least 1,000 of the sephora credit card. We came back I'm excited. We get to the register and approach Kimberly who later figure out is a manager. Her behavior, body language, her impatient... spoke volumes. Literally Kimberly and Franky were talking amongst themselves instead of letting us know what was happening. Basically laughed in our faces and Kimberly was so unpleasant and rude about us trying to figure out what was the problem.... that we just used our own money and they told us they couldn't override the applying for the credit card fee because we were willing to pay now instead of waiting another few days for things that were already perfect and at this point they were so engulfed in getting rid of us. Smash Box discontinued an eye shadow trio that I liked but overall a good expedient experience. There are TWO Sephora's in Del Amo. This is the one near Macy's and not in JCPenney's. Currently the map information coming up on Google is incorrect because it makes it look like both stores are in JCPenney's. Hit did you know information as green as you come down the main promenade from Macy's and it will give you exact directions starting with a veer right towards K jewelers. read more

This Sephora can really be a hit or miss sometimes. But with the sales going on this week the employees here have been really awesome about trying to help everyone. Yes, you probably won't get greeted at the door or asked if you need help but the customer to employee ratio is absurd. They're outnumbered so don't take it personally. Onto the good stuff! If you get someone's attention they are more than happy to help you out. I've had a really stellar experience with Hazel who answered all my questions, got my products for me and was just so warm and friendly. She didn't rush me and she was very receptive to my comments. POWER WAS OUT! Only half of the store had lights. Yikes! It was dark and you can't see the makeup in some of the booths. We used the light on our phones to see lol. The mall had issues with power and unfortunately, Sephora was affected. They made up with their awesome customer service. We were offered help by staff and was left alone when we politely said we were okay. My friends and I played and tested with makeup using the store's sponges and makeup tools and it was a lot of fun. Again, staff were very nice and helped us find makeup products that were not on the shelves. Sephora is a Disney store for adults. They carry a wide variety of makeup, beauty and skin care products! I couldn't find the shade of the foundation because the stock was not arranged well and it took me forever to find someone who could help me look. Found someone. Great. Got the foundation. Looked for a brush. The one I wanted wasn't there. Searched the drawers. Couldn't find anyone to help me. Gave up. Looked for the eyeliner. I couldn't remember the name of the shade I had at home, so I tried a bunch of different ones and none were the right shade. Looked for a couple other shades on the shelf as a sample to try and they weren't there. Again, everyone was busy or could not be found. Gave up. Was excited a Sephora opened up near me but after my latest visit, I won't be shopping there again. I stopped by yesterday about 3:30pm and walked passed an associate who had no words for me. I walked towards her expecting a smile, "hello, how are you?" but she looked at me with wide eyes. Weird. I made my way to the back of the store where the fragrances were setup. There was a door to the left that 5 employees walked out of - guessing there was a meeting . Then not 3 minutes later, 5 associates went back in and walked past me .. All 5 of them . and not one greeted me, made eye contact or acknowledged me whatsoever. Wow. The checkout area was busy with customers at the counter and another 7 customers in line . No other associate was around, I wanted a sample but no one bothered to welcome me, ask how I was doing, not a second look. I was with my husband, 12 year old, and a baby in a stroller. You couldn't miss me. Impression: associates are too busy and or too good to bother with customers. A little goes a long way, acknowledging a customer, a smile, etc. would've helped and it's unfortunate this visit will influence where I shop next. So Sephora Del Amo, I will go to Nordstrom or Macy's or Manhattan Beach Sephora, heck i will drive 25 miles to So Coast Sephora because at least these retail establisments know and understand customer service and treat customers appropriately.
