We went to one of our favorite restaurants today only to be disappointed in service and cleanliness. Let's start with the service. My wife wanted an order of a salad and 1/2 sandwich. She wanted to sub a 1/2 hot Tri tip for the sandwich and offered to pay the difference. We were told you can't order a 1/2 of hot sandwich. I've never heard of that at any restaurant but this one. Then when I needed to use the rest room, the restroom stunk and was dirtier then any restroom I've seen at a rest stop. It stunk of urine and the deodorizer in the urinal had to be months older due to the build up on the deodorizer. I've never seen or smelled anything as bad as this. For a restaurant where you're paying good money for food you'd expect better. To be honest the place was dirty and disgusting. Won't be going back or recommending this place again. read more

One half very well crafted Veggie and Cheese sandwich and one half bowl of pretty solid chili. They were both so filling I actually wonder how "light" they were but were delicious nonetheless. The ingredients in the sandwich tasted like they could have come from the nest produce of your favorite grocery store and the chili was robust. Disappointed with what I purchased. Super expensive for just meat and a sandwich. A tritip sandwich (almost foot long) descent size, but a bbq chicken sandwich on a ciabotta bread, (small). It's just meat, no lettuce, no tomato, no onions, just bread and meat. I also purchased two drinks for a total cost of $36. What a rip-off! This place is usually pretty good but it's been a while since I've been. I was pretty excited about the meatball soup, it's a really good soup. However, I was served literally the bottom of the barrel and it was like mush. The potatoes were all broken up, it was just full meatballs and the little bit of broth in there was more like gravy. Disgusting. I went inside to tell the girl I didn't want it and she took my soup gave me a "free sandwich" card and said sorry. I asked if I could have my money back and she said she couldn't. One thing I can say for sure is you get a huge sandwich for the price you pay! I think they use quality ingredients and you are left feeling very full. Every time I come here I only eat half of my sandwich and save the other side for later. I do wish they had more gluten free options since I found out I am gluten intolerant. We really love the food here which is why keep coming back but after today I don't think we will be giving this place any more of our money. The last couple of times we have gone we have noticed a steady decline in the quality of the food, the quantity and just the overall customer service have been going what seems like downhill at a readily fast pace. Today was the straw that broke the customers back .. We ordered our food to go, I got the Cobb salad and ordered extra dressing with it, when I got home it didn't even have blue cheese crumbles and it had 1 dressing with it. My husband ordered the Cobb potato and nowhere on the description did it say it had tomato on it but when we got home it was covered in them and almost had more of those than the actual meats it was supposed to come with he also asked for extra dressing & got 1 and that was it, He also got the Sunday soup special which was Chicken Pot Pie but it was literally like cream of chicken soup with no veggies in sight. I thoroughly enjoy the Turkey Club as it is jam packed with delicious and delicately-cut turkey and yummy bacon. The sandwich is large and the ratios are well-made. It is slightly heavy on the Turkey portion but I think it still makes for a balanced sandwich. I really love it! My husband and I always enjoy our food and it consistently tastes the same. The New Yorker sandwich is one of the best sandwiches I've had, period. I've had various famous sandwiches in NYC (Artie's etc) and this one is as good or better than those. It's a glorious concoction of pastrami, corned beef, swiss cheese, Russian dressing, and coleslaw served on rye bread. I've had some of their other sandwiches and those are just ok in comparison--specifically, I'm talking about roast turkey on squaw bread and the club. Their baked potatoes are worth a mention too. See my pic of that. As for the actual location, it's in a strip mall in Clovis; there is a starbucks near and other strip mall-type places. The interior has plenty of room to sit and there is outdoor seating as well. I'll be going back for the New Yorker and also to try their cakes which look scrumptious and filling. The sandwich looks like it's burnt but didn't taste like it was, tasted good for first time trying this place. The baked potato was big, I was expecting for them to actually put everything in there for me but then I didn't know you had to do it yourself but overall it tasted good also.
