Wow. Amazing food and great service. We met our family here last night for dinner and were very impressed. All pastas are made in house. Lasagna and the pasta bolognese were heavenly. The tortilloni with wild mushrooms and charred corn was incredible. My daughter is vegetarian and gluten free and there weren't a lot of options on the menu so she asked the chef to surprise her. Wow did he ever! This incredible plate arrived with romesco sauce, brocollini, sautéd artichokes, two eggs and then a drizzle of truffle oil. OMG! We all wanted her plate. Delicious. Brought OOT guests so the pressure was on, unfortunately the place didn't quite deliver... pretty empty on sunday night around 7ish but the place was cute- little rustic, neighborhoody, had a decent table by the windows... My food was good, split the plin as an appetizer which was good but lukewarm. Did hit the carb craving though and I definitely finished off my app... had scallops for my main which were a decent portion, well seasoned and quite tasty. Others had mixed review on entrees though... Pain came with service alllllll night long. Items forgotten, waitstaff rarely checking in ( so constantly had to flag down which took surprisingly long given the relatively empty dining room) and on occasion having a bit of an attitude. Definitely didn't get the bread other reviews have mentioned. Probably will not be making a return trip given the other strong Italian contenders but I suppose I get the local appeal if you live in the neighborhood. I loved Serafina! The restaurant has a really cozy atmosphere and all the food was delicious! We had two orders of bread (focaccia and oil), polpo, and polpettine for appetizers, rigatoni bolognese, a carbonara special, and lasagna for dinner, with the cioccolata for dessert. Each dish was near-perfect and my complaints have more to do with personal preference except the lasagna which should have been much meatier for featuring three meats at $26. Service was excellent - our waters were always full. We had a bit of a wait between finishing our mains and being brought the dessert menu but there were also a bunch more tables beginning to come in at that time so I understand. Firstly we sat and the bar and had amazing service. We shared the Salmond had it was undercook and very bland. The pea vines where good, but a little overpowering. The manger said the corn sauce on the salmon is his favorite, but it was bland & flavorless. This was my first time here. It was OK but no need to rush back. The portions are small--even the lasagna--and as I write this a few hours later I am hungry. The bread was cold--no excuse for that--like it just came out of the fridge. The gnocchi was not memorable--not what I expected. Cream sauce had very little flavor. Crunchy kale was good but its just an after thought. Meatballs as an appetizer were a bit chewey but tasted good. Eggplant looks great. Its their specialty. But didnt get to try it. I have been to Serafina many times and always had great meals. I ate here again this week as part of Seattle Restaurant Week and figured it was time to do a review. This is a great choice for special occasions. Parking can be a challenge at times, so play to arrive early. This is a great Italian place with wonderful fresh, handmade pasta. It also has an outstanding Italian wine list (and worthwhile asking for advice). For the first course I had something called Vongole which is a dish with clams and sausage. It was a really tasty mix--very unique and a perfect starter. I also tried the salad with candied hazelnut and that was also very good. For the main course I had the Pappardelle. This is thick noodles with mushrooms and a cheesy sauce. I have had a few pastas at Serafina and although this may not have been my favorite, it was really good--particularly the pecorino sauce. This is great item for restaurant week and a generous portion. Outside of restaurant week, I think my favorite item is the lasagna which is heavenly. For dessert, I was glad that they had a cheese option. They cheese was super and the jam was a great complement. The pumpkin cake was also good, but I was very happy with the cheese. Perfect night out! I reserved a table outside for my friend's birthday. We brought blankets, but it was actually really warm back there. They have nice coverage and table side heaters. We had the Cacio e Pepe, burrata, eggplant pasta, and the meat lovers had the rigatoni. Eggplant and rigatoni were the crowd faves. I also really loved the cacio e Pepe with foraged mushrooms You just can't go wrong. We kept eating ! Finishing with port wine and a hazelnut cake dessert. The service was incredible! Took my wife here for her birthday last week. The food was excellent, the service was outstanding, and the overall value was very good, I felt. The only reason I wouldn't give this restaurant five stars overall is because of the ambiance. It was so loud in there that I had to ask our server to repeat herself several times. I recognize that it was a Friday night and the place was packed, and I'm not one to shy away from crowds or energetic places, but it became slightly annoying at times. Distance, yes, masks, yes, gloves are used when plates placed and removed.however they have not lost their attention to perfection with these added safety measures. The tables are thoughtfully spaced. Our server, Taylor, was eyes on all while keeping her distance when necessary, she reads the room expertly (trust this lady to pair your wine). The entire team at Serafina works seamlessly together to bring you what you need at the moment it is ready for you. The steak tartare was divine and a perfect share to start. A Seattle classic, but somehow my first time here. Was able to make online reservation, they checked vaccine cards diligently upon arrival. The ambience was romantic and lively. We went here on a whim on a weekday night- it had the feeling of a warm, Italian restaurant during a cold winter night night (which, both things were true lol). There is a great cocktail list and a nice selection of wines both bottles and by the glass. Their menu is split into small, medium and entrees, and can have the selection of a large entree or small. This is a very underrated idea, and I liked not having to box up my leftovers and only ordering what I needed. Serafina has been my favorite restaurant in Seattle for as long as I can remember. So this year when asked where I'd like to have dinner for my combined Mother's Day and birthday dinner. We arrived on time and we're seated on the patio. Although we had an early reservation, the special had only one serving left and so they saved it for me. This is where it goes down hill. Four of us were dining and we all ordered different dishes. I have to mention the service which was severely lacking that I don't know where to start. Long waits, confused vague server who seemed unclear at a level that she wasn't even sure we were there to order food. Little to no attention to our requests, and again just a vague attachment to what we were doing, which was having a celebratory dinner. The prices were fine, save the wine and drinks which far too high for the quality. They are less in London, Paris and NY. All of our mains were average, at best. Mine should have been sent back as the special was glued together homemade pasta with virtually no sauce. Just stuck together pasta, but I chose to not make a fuss. The other dishes were not the quality I've always known. Desserts were unimaginable, and a bit less than creative. Ambiance and location is great. It's time for a major rethink by the owners. . The dinner was such a disappointment and the tab over $450 with tip. Sadly we won't be back. Too many top notch choices. read more

Serafina combines well prepared Italian tapas small plates with a great outdoor experience. We ordered the following: Affettati Misti - A mixture of artisanal salumi, prosciutto, country style pâté and terrine served with house-made giardiniera (pickled peppers, olives, cornichons), and fresh Pecorino . A dash of ground coarse mustard seed sauce to enliven your palate. Risotto Milanese-- if you want a superbly executed al dente arborio rice that melts in your mouth, this plate definitely pleases. The hints of saffron, seafood and white wine add to the velvety Parmigiano-Reggiano, makeing every spoonful an unctuous treat. Rigatoncini con Polpettine- I should put this on a list called, "Comfort foods to try in Seattle." A simple looking dish, but the effort to make the tomato sauce - so fresh and balanced in tart and sweetness will have your umami tastebuds rejoicing. The lamb meatballs adorn the plate as prized gems that go with every bite. Garnished with fresh ricotta as counterbalance to the tomato's tartness. The Columbia City Bakery is now a personal favorite. They won the best Baguette in Seattle, and now their country bread as a side with olive oil at Serafina is a must have! Imbibed with a Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley - Torii Mor, just right for the cooling evening breeze and went well with the tomato sauce and rich risotto. PS. Damn. Awesome bar service with house-made gin, infused alcohols, well shaken and well strained cocktails, and great presentation in classy stemware, fruit, and zest. Cool and fairly efficient and redundant service. This place is one where the kitchen rules, the staff is listed on the menu, and things get served when they are plated and not when a waiter feels like picking it up. Plates are delicious and a value for what you get. I've had $15+ plates of pasta often and they are rarely worth it elsewhere. Here they have an impressive menu, fresh specials, and the chefs clearly have an exquisite palate. Delightful. They have a beautiful back patio where, in the light of the setting sun and amongst the surrounding greenery, you can enjoy yourselves. There are also a generous amount of propane space heaters. If things get chilly, they are happy to turn them on for you. Their wine list is epic in size. Their dessert menu is also huge. Also worth noting is that they have a late night happy hour until close and late night limited menu available after their kitchen closes. Great service! Wonderful decor. This restaurant is full of 2-seater tables set up in a romantic arrangement. It has a large Italian countryside mural painted on one of the walls and another is full of wine bottles. This place is great for dates, or even meetings if you're up for the price hit. The food is flavorful. They fit so much flavor into familiar sauces. Even the bread and oil was bursting with flavor. The bread was obviously homemade- crispy and chewy crust with a steamy moist center. The oil was infused with spicy garlic and fresh herbs. We got the calamari and I did the plin. I am a sucker for duck and the dumplings were burst with fatty shredded duck. The surprising best part of the dish was a fusion of the brown butter sauce with a shredded cheese. I hate when people shred cheese table side. They brought it out perfectly cheesed here and I was impressed with it- creamy and rich. My friend got a pasta dish with lamb and its familiar looking red sauce tasted nothing like any tomato sauce I had tried. It was phenomenal. We got offered seconds and then thirds on bread before our food came. It took a little longer than expected but the calamari held us over nicely. Our drinks were refilled every ten minutes or so. I did find the food to be on the salty side overall. The bill came and it was $64 for two lunch entrees and a shared appetizer. I have never spent so much on lunch. I can't say I wasn't impressed with the food or the service, but the food was outrageously priced for lunch. read more

I came for restaurant week and I actually didn't order from the RW menu. I opted for a simple Insalata con Salmone Bollito, which was pretty disappointing unfortunately. It was just over dressed making the lettuce wilt. No crisp. My friend had Mezzaluna di Zucca which was the better choice, but I was low carbing it at the time. Parking is kind of a pain in the butt too so more reason for me not to return anytime soon. Prosecco for lunch was awesome though! read more

My roommate and I came here for SRW and loved it. First off, service was great. Our server answered all of our questions (it was both of our first times at Serafina) and made recommendations on the menu choices. To drink, I wanted something fruity, sweet, and tart and ordered the Pomegranate Smack on our server's suggestion. It was exactly what I needed. For the first course, I had the warm beet salad while the roomie had the roasted cauliflower. The beet salad was great. I find beets to be one note and not too flavorful on their own, but the pomegranate and salsa verde added to this dish gave it the pops of flavor and texture that it needed. I'll also admit I've never met a cauliflower that I've liked....until the roasted cauliflower here. Prepared simply with olive oil, anchovies(?), and garlic, it really made me question my dislike for the pale vegetable. For dinner, I ordered the pork loin while my dinner companion ordered the Tagliatelle. The pork was cooked well and incredibly tender (though I wish it would have had more of a sear). It had a porky-ness that I enjoyed, especially with the pickled cherries to contrast its fattiness. The Tagliatelle was really good. A complete comfort dish with house-made noodles. To end our meal, I ordered the fall-spiced panna cotta and after my first bite, I immediately understood why they called it that. It had a burst of the warm flavors we're so accustomed to during the fall/winter months. I could almost taste leaves changing colors in my mouth. Seriously. I could have done without the cookie/cake at the bottom, but I wouldn't have minded another spoonful or two of the panna cotta. My roommate's poached pear dish was also good and a great way to round out our dinner. After my experience here during SRW, I'd definitely come back. read more

Two words: FRENCH TOAST. I came here for brunch due to a soon expiring Living Social deal that I'd bought months ago. It included a fruit plate, carafe of mimosa or bellini, and 2 brunch entrees. (We opted for the bellinis.) You never know how service will be once you inform the server that you have a Living Social or Groupon Voucher, but luckily we weren't treated like second class citizens, and for that, I'm appreciative. There was ample patio seating in the front and back of the restaurant, but my friend and I opted to to sit inside the restaurant so we could hear each other. This turned out well because shortly after we sat down, the violinist started playing some contemporary tunes, which I thought was a nice touch to the atmosphere. I ordered and devoured the french toast, and let me tell ya, it's probably in the top 3 of the best french toast I've ever had. Yep, it was damn good. I took my first bite, shouted in pleasure, "Oh God!" and then offered my friend one bite because I knew I was about to inhale the entire dish. Very romantic date spot. Just dark enough and cozy as hell. It's filled with couples or groups of couples doing couple-y shit. If you're not attached, it might make you gag though. So consider yourself warned. There was about a 45 minute wait for our table on a busy Saturday night, but the time flew by. We sat at the bar and ordered a couple cocktails. The bartender was Johnny-on-the-spot with everything and chatted us up just enough not to be annoying or intrusive.
