I first arrived around 6:15 PM. The area was packed and finding street parking was surprisingly difficult, so give yourself some extra time if you're driving. I also didn't have a reservation and was quoted about a 45-minute to one-hour wait for a walk-in. The woman at the front was very nice, though, and took my number for the waitlist. I used the time to drive over to Kerry Park for some sightseeing and came back around 7:30 PM. By then, my spot was ready and I was seated at the bar. I hadn't really eaten a proper lunch after the race, so at this point I was basically combining lunch and dinner. On the recommendation of the woman serving me at the bar, I ordered two half portions of pasta: Tajarin con burro e salvia -- $20 Fine hand-cut egg yolk pasta with butter and sage. Cavatelli al ragù di costolette -- $24 Cavatelli with short rib ragù and marinated cherry tomatoes. While I was waiting, they also brought out a complimentary amuse-bouche with toast, fig, and a dark reduction. It was a nice little start to the meal. The tajarin with butter and sage came first. I was starving and finished it pretty quickly. They also served bread and long, thin, crunchy breadsticks that I believe were grissini. The pasta was good, although it didn't completely blow me away. I'd probably give that dish around a 3.5/5. Then came the cavatelli with short rib ragù. Oh my gosh, guys. This might genuinely be one of the greatest pasta dishes I've ever tasted. Somehow, it was even better than the spaghetti Bolognese I'd had at another Italian restaurant the night before. The short rib ragù was remarkable -- incredibly rich and flavorful -- and the cavatelli had this wonderful soft, chewy texture that worked perfectly with the beef ragù and tomatoes. Everything just came together. This was easily the highlight of the meal and one of my favorite Italian dishes I've had anywhere. The bar seating also ended up being pretty social. I talked with a guy next to me who had recently finished a triathlon, and chatted with another woman whose birthday was the following day. It made eating solo considerably more enjoyable. By the end, I was completely full. Considering those two half portions essentially became my post-race lunch and dinner combined, I thought it was well worth it. I'm giving Spinasse 5/5 largely because that cavatelli with short rib ragù was absolutely remarkable. I'd come back without question the next time I'm in Seattle -- and I'd probably order that exact dish again. One word of warning: I'd strongly recommend making a reservation, especially on a weekend. If you're dining solo, walking in and waiting for a bar seat can work, but I'd still be prepared to wait. 5/5 stars Last visited: August 30, 2026

What's most disappointing isn't that problems happen, it's how they're handled. The attitude often gives the impression that the customer is always wrong, rather than making any effort to understand or resolve the situation. The service has come across as rude, dismissive, and unnecessarily confrontational. Good hospitality should make guests feel welcomed and want to come back. Unfortunately, my experiences here have done the exact opposite.

I took my time with it and really savored each bite -- the rich, creamy sauce with the Bolognese was honestly heavenly. Exactly the kind of comforting pasta I was hoping for the night before a race. I'd recommend making a reservation, although surprisingly they weren't particularly busy on a Saturday evening. Given how good the food was, that genuinely baffled me. All in all, a home run -- and I went on to finish 5th overall in my race the next morning, so I'd say the pre-race pasta did its job. I'll definitely return to Brunello if I'm back in Seattle. When we walked in, I had an amazing first impression. Quick bartender who upsold on an amazing Negroni (try the superiore), kind hostess who quoted an accurate time, proactive staff that found us in the bar when our table was ready and smiling servers at every corner. Then we sat down. Our waiter had a positive greeting, where he knowledgably explained the specials and additions to the menu. Let me preface my comments by saying that I'm a restaurant general manager and that being with other restaurant people for dinner, some actions were obvious. From there on, it really didn't go well. He showed disappointment that our 6-top went down to a 5-top, because it meant less tip and/or no auto gratuity (mind you, he still got 20% at the end). Then, it was about 15 minutes before he came back to check back for a drink order, losing the support of two of our five immediately. We decide, lets just order it all now so that we don't wait too much. He then told us about the fresh truffles for $10 that can be added to each entree. Great right? Fresh truffles, thats awesome!! Then my friend went to order a duck dish, the server asked if she wanted to add truffles, "why ofcourse truffles" (pause... she's looking for the price, looking for the price... wait... $10 dollar truffle shavings... nevermind) No thank you. At this point, he shows disappointment again. I get upselling, but don't get angry when it doesn't work or show that to your guests. He lost another one of us there. Three down, two to go. We all go around, only ordering entrees except for me, I wanted a salad. He turns to everyone and says as a joke, "Are you guys going to let him be the only one with a first course?". Nice... thanks for that single out... now I'm holding back the whole table or its a disappointment upsell and someone will order something out of pity. I almost just took the salad order back but I didn't want to blame the kitchen for the 'disappointment upsell' again. I wanted to see how their spinach/mushroom salad tasted. I decide, so that the group doesn't feel bad, to just have it with my entree. We then don't see the server for a good... say... 45 minutes. He clears my beer glass and no mention of another beer. I turn to my friend and say, "Its sad when our servers at our restaurants lose the opportunity to sell a guest anything but just not asking..." because I wanted another beer. To his credit, our friend ordered a rabbit dish with 4 one-inch long bones which he immediately removed and gave him another dish. No fuss, no argument, but barely an apology. Either way, one more of us lost our enthusiasm, only one more to go!! (I'm curious what the kitchen/manager/chef said because thats not something a braised rabbit pasta dish should have, since its impossible to stop from accidentally eating, I mean, its pulled braised rabbit leg mixed with pasta.) Finally, dessert order comes and goes. Candle in, he noticed it was a friends birthday, and we all say happy birthday. Oh good... the bill came... we, I guess, added ice cream to the dessert and got an extra charge. By we, I mean our server, so that the candle could sit on something. That's when he lost the whole table. The great comment from our friend was that it didn't feel like nickel and diming, it was dollar and dollaring. So, some servers aren't going to always be there to do this so please don't blame the restaurant (and its staff) for that. Bussers were attentive and kind. Hostess was very positive and checked up on us, suprisingly. Bartender was quick and precise. Great negroni, just like I make it at my bars. Duck was amazing, as Moulard should always be. Squid Ink pasta lacked substance and was dry. Spinach/Mushroom salad was good. Beverages and atmosphere were well done. I saw a nice 'Viao Amarone' being poured which almost makes me want to come back to enjoy with the duck. Almost. read more

I am impressed. I went into Serafina this week for our monthly mom's night out and I haven't had such great service in Seattle in a long time. I showed up early for the reservation and got a prime seat in the bar. The bartender was a glossary of information, and the next thing I knew I was slurping a delicious (house infused) apricot gin martini. This is espcially important for me becuase I don't drink gin, it is my least favorite liquor - but how could I not trust this bartender? I did, and it was delicious. After the rest of my ladies arrived we were seated (by the super friendly manager/owner) in a cozy little corner by the stage. I don't know, whenever someone compliments my shoes they go straight to a corner in my heart. Then our server came over, and as someone that isn't that knowledgable about Italian wine, she made us all feel comforable. She recommended a value priced wine that was soooo good. The thing about Serafina is the service. I feel like the staff acutally want to be there - that they are happy, and that makes me happy. Now for the food - we had the bruschetta to start (olive tapenade, tuna and goat cheese). I highly recommend it and for the 4 of us it was perfect to share. For dinner I had the chicken dish which had ingredients combined that were so perfect (a little warm salad of squash, brussel sprouts and bacon) with pomegranate seeds. Amazing. I lost my heart here. Serafina will do that to a guy. Cozy little ambiance. Romantic spot for a lunch or dinner with a friend turned date. Wine flows. Many years ago I met a smart, sexy, hilarious, sweet, thoughtful, caring, drop dead gorgeous woman. She was attached but we let our friendship grow. One day I brought her here for lunch. It was a working lunch at first but then we laughed, talked and cried together. The food, the atmosphere, the service. It was perfect. I always believed after that lunch that lasted all day that Serafina cemented a love that would grow. This woman will have my kids one day and before that of course one day this woman of my dreams will look at me over the amazing out of this world and so good i would trade my bike in for it pork belly appetizer, scallopini, a plate of tortellini. She would finally see me for the love of her life. She is mad as hell at me right now but Serafina is still here. It's waiting to bring us back together once and for all. And I know that once I get her here to share that pork belly, bruschetta, and some veal meatballs she is going to want me. Me! Not just the food. Not just the wine. I recently visited Serafina, an Italian restaurant known for its cozy ambiance and authentic Italian cuisine. I was thoroughly impressed by the quality of the food, the welcoming atmosphere, and the impeccable service. To start, we ordered the Melanzane - a perfectly baked eggplant dish with a rich tomato sauce, creamy ricotta cheese, and crispy breadcrumbs. The combination of flavors was truly outstanding and it set the tone for the rest of the meal. The Bucatini Carbonara was the standout dish, with perfectly al dente pasta, crispy pancetta, and a creamy, egg-based sauce that was rich and flavorful. The dish was perfectly balanced and not too heavy, making it the ideal main course. To end the meal, we enjoyed the biscotti, which were the perfect accompaniment to our coffee. They were crisp and delicious, with a subtle sweetness that was just right. Throughout our meal, the service was exceptional. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu, attentive to our needs, and made us feel welcome and comfortable throughout the entire meal. "The month of love." This may have added to the experience going in Serafina's month of love. The service was top Notch. The food was amazing. I am not a food connoisseur by any means but I am 1/4 Italian and this place pleased my pallet. I would highly suggest ordering all three courses. We had the brochette with tuna tar tar and olive toppenade to start (really great flavors), A delicious main course and the cheese cake to top it off. Parking could be a problem but we got lucky and found a place. I also read on another review they have a parking lot and directions somewhere on their site. Again this was the month of love and we were on our valentines date but it was well worth it. The place is small but cozy if your going as a couple. I would probably not make this a group gathering. Small bar but the bartender Chris is a genius with his concoctions! If you like Whiskey get the infused Manhattan in a high ball glass. The maraschino cherries are amazing and the drink was well poured (stiff) and had a nice infused flavor. Go now and have a very good time. read more

Serafina is one of my favorite restaurants in Seattle! When you walk in, the vibe is bustling and friendly. The staff is extremely gracious, and they make you feel like you're part of a big Italian family. Their wine list is incredibly expansive and features truly unique picks from Italy and beyond for great prices. I am also fascinated by the house-made infusions, particularly the orange-infused rum that they use in the orange-basil mojito. And the food! I ate their last night just in time for their new fall menu. All I can say is pork wrapped in pork: the porchetta is a pork loin wrapped in pork belly - yum! What a perfect dish for the season. My friend is vegetarian, and she loved the pumpkin ravioli. I also love to come here for late-night cocktails. They have a delicious selection of food for great prices and awesome drinks. I wish I could give this place ZERO stars!!!! This place was awful. We had a party of 8 with a 6:45 reservation which took them 3 hours, 3 HOURS for them to get our full meal out to us (app's, dinner & desert). They mixed up my order and brought me out this dry flavorless, TERRIBLE meatball dish, when I ordered veal. Since, I didn't order it and it was so disgusting, it just sat in front of me. The ambiance was terrible as well and they crammed all eight of us into one small table. The desert was okay, but with an almost $500 bill they served up at the end it was ridicously bad. I want my money and three hours back. Serafina was by far the WORST dinner I have ever had and save your time and money and just pass that one by. read more

I strive to leave balanced reviews, but my experience here was nothing short of disappointing. I wish I could offset this with praise for the food, but unfortunately, I never even got the chance to try it. My reservation was for 7:30 PM, and we arrived early at 7:00 PM. After checking in, we decided to have a drink while waiting. At 7:30, I followed up with the host and was assured we'd be seated soon. However, by 7:50, there were still no updates or communication. Feeling ignored and frustrated, we decided to leave. It's disheartening when a restaurant fails to honor a reservation or communicate effectively. I expected better. read more

I went there for my birthday and I love it! When we arrived we still have to wait for like 15 mins even though we made a reservation for 2 people already but the staff are very friendly, Chatted with me for a while I was waiting for our table and they wished me a happy birthday. The food are great! I love the Cozze Affumicati ( I really recommend this for mussel lover ), love the Pancia Arrostita Lentamente , i had pan seared scallops that just melted in my mouth and my husband had Bistecca alla Griglia, but he said it was ok. Went to Serafina about a month ago based on good things I've heard from friends. The ambiance is very nice, but you pay a premium for very ordinary food. I believe my bill came out to around $40 including tip for a salad and an entree. No drinks. For that kind of money, I'd expect something that would really impress. The parking situation on Eastlake is a mess as well. They have these stupid zone 8 parking sings pretty much everywhere, so be prepared to tack on another $50 for a parking ticket that you're bound to get stuck with. read more

The food here is 4 star good . I've been in twice and both times I had a real problem with the service. One of my pet peeves is having a reservation and then having to wait extraordinarily long. That's what happened the first time. And to top if off we had been waiting for table (with a reservation) for 20 minutes when 2 tables opened up and they gave them to a party of 6 and left our party of 3 hanging. I've heard great things about Serafina so decided to check it out. The space itself is very cozy, with many parts to the room, so it doesn't feel like you're dining in one open space. The staff was warm, polite, and friendly. Live piano was a plus! The food wasn't especially memorable. The pasta was so-so. I went to this place because of all the positive reviews I've seen. I may think again next time. This place was horrible. Overpriced coupled with a lousy atomosphere. This place is horrible. My server knew nothing about the menu. My reservation counted for nothing as I was finally seated at my table 35 minutes after my reservation time. Once the food came, it tasted like sh#%. Very bland, almost the complete absence of flavor. The drinks were watered down and then the server actually spilled them. Seraphina is incredibly charming. It takes you to an entire place and time. The only thing I would recommend is to not close down the bar or kitchen before your advertised hours, it's bad service and and people change their plans in order to come to you based on your advertised hours and then they show up only to be disappointed. read more

The olive and balsamic oil was really hitting too. Both pastas that were ordered were delicious, perfectly cooked al dente, and had a good balance of flavors. The roast pig with clams and chorizo didn't exactly forged into one Napier's dish. The risotto was a soggy mess. The chanterelle fish was creamy and good. The buratta was really good. Calamari was good, just not ample for what they charge. Wings were good. The fish with almonds was good, just too pricey. Like I said, food wasn't bad, just nothing that stands out and would make me crave to go back another time. Churros was doughy.

Most the reviews I read mentioned the pancakes are the best item to get, so my girlfriend and I couldn't resist. This location is tucked away in the North Capitol Hill neighborhood surrounded by trees and older apartments/ homes, and the interior is just as relaxing and quaint. It's dark lit, intimate with modern fixtures and flowers, and has one centerpiece which caught my attention before anything else: a restored tower espresso machine which appeared to be from the 1950's. I'd only seen an espresso machine like this at the Kent Bakke Espresso Museum in Ballard, so as a coffee nerd with an emphasis on espresso, it was lovely to see. It took us about 5 minutes to get seated at the bar which is outstanding time for a brunch spot in Cap Hill on a Sunday. We were able to order within 5 minutes of deciding what we wanted, which was the bacon egg sandwich with avocado spread, omelette with hearth roasted potatoes, an espresso, and the main event, the pancake. I can't express how much the pancake exceeded my expectations. It was wide and tall, extremely fluffy, had decadent bourbon whipped cream and cinnamon stewed strawberries which is something I've craved for a long time. The menu states to wait 20 minutes for the pancake to cook and they miraculously got it to us in 10. The other breakfast items were tasty but left something to be desired, so we ordered extra Romesco sauce and they gave us a tub of it which helped immensely because of how much flavor and complexity was packed in it. The espresso was very fittingly a traditional Italian style dark roast from Caffe Umbria Roasters which hits the spot when hungover. We were also lucky enough to have sat right next to the espresso machine and the bartender kindly let me take a video of him pulling a shot which still gives me joy to this day. Speaking of the bartender, he happened to be one of the chefs working at the bar due to them being down a waiter and a chef which really speaks to how kindly we were treated despite dealing with an extremely short staffed Sunday. Our waitress and the rest of the staff also made us feel welcome and not as an irritant when making requests which is hard to find in Seattle. Overall, my experience at Single Shot left an extremely positive impression on me. We were assisted quickly, never felt as a bother, and got exactly what we needed to recover and enjoy the rest of our day. We will be back for that pancake and will encourage our friends and family to visit!

Unfortunately, the food overall fell pretty mid, mostly due to major inconsistencies in seasoning. The Highlights: * Octopus: Being an octopus fan, I really enjoyed this dish--it was tender and well-prepared. * Mezze Rigatoni ($33): Served with wild boar ragu, grana padano, and oregano. Easily the star dish of the table and wonderfully flavorful. The Misses: * Smoked Fish Bruschetta: Way too salty and surprisingly flat on flavor otherwise. * Pappardelle ($42): Prepared with crab, brown butter, white wine, citrus, sea beans, pangrattato, and bottarga. Given the price point and premium ingredients, this was very disappointing. In stark contrast to the rest of the meal which ran overly salty, this pasta was completely under-seasoned and flavorless--I could barely taste any crab or bottarga. A few others in our group ordered the steak and other entrees as well, but between the hit-or-miss plates and wild swings in seasoning, it's hard to justify coming back when there are so many other solid spots in Ballard.
