Mixed feelings about this place. It has a modern retro diner vibe. It was cute but I couldn't tell if it was trendy or an updated diner. Either way the fresh squeezed orange juice and huevos rancheros was really good and portions were big. Two friends got a latte with an extra shot of espresso and one was strong one was weak. I enjoyed my birthday luncheon here at Serendipity with a group of 15 family members & friends. Maria/Mary was our amazing server. Nancy the manager is very nice & helpful. The chefs did a great job of preparing delicious food. My friends and family that attended my birthday luncheon had not eaten at Serendipity before. So I was happy when all the feedback was positive. The food was very overpriced for what it was. Corned beef was very dry and bland. Chips were bendy/chewy and unseasoned. The Cabernet I ordered, Bonanza, ("by Caymus" kinda sorta) was good and I'm guessing there are not many places that offer $4.99 glasses of decent-quality wine. Our server, Evan, and whoever was helping him out were both really great. They were nice and they were jammin' to get it all done. I think the owner was there and he seemed to be keeping a good eye on things and energetically greeted us as we came in. We sat outside... a little bit of noise from PCH but nice vibe, in general. I liked the Parisian Bistro chairs; really comfy on my boney ass. When we showed up, the place was pretty empty. Gotta say... with no plants and, really, next to no decorations, the place felt a little cafeteria-ish but as the tables started to fill up it just sort had a spacious-but-busy vibe. But I think a few small screens-and-greens would charm it up without losing the spacious vibe. I went to serendipity today super excited to see the new layout, vibe and of course taste the food. Five of us went for brunch and we were sat pretty quick which I appreciated. I reserved ahead of time, which I recommend. I saw a lot of big groups celebrating and I can see how this would be a great place for that. It has the space. Ambiance was mixed, I personally like the color choices, I think the back wall painting was a little off, but maybe there is a story behind that. The place gets a little loud with the music playing and I'm not sure if it's because they didn't have pictures or paintings on the wall, but it was a bit loud. We had to sort of yell to talk with each other and they sat us in the area that had less sound. The server couldn't hear our orders too. Our food came pretty promptly and mostly together. Overall sentiment was the food portions was on the smaller end with the prices they were charging. My toast was almost black and my friend ordered a soup (poblano) and it was very salty and creamy. My friend didn't realize it was a super creamy soup so she asked if she can switch to a salad. I think where we were all a little taken back was our servers response that once we told them we can't have cream, was "it's a poblano soup". Made us feel like we should know what that means, we all knew poblano was a pepper, so we didn't get reference and it was articulated a bit rudely. He did make the swap for us for no charge to a salad. Which we appreciated. Food: Portion was a bit small for the cost Taste was a bit off on a few items, pancake was dry and soup was salty. I recommend they add to their overall menu little Indicators for v, dairy free and gf. I know this seems like a hassle, but it's pretty much the normalizing in restaurants Quality: I think to be a little more attentive to what they put out, burnt toast is not good. I did appreciate that our server did come to check on us a few times. I did take a Dulce de leche pancake order with strawberries home and my daughter liked it. Overall, it's a solid 3. I may try again to give it another go. There are so many good breakfast places now that all of this is important. I forgot to take a picture of my Corned beef hash, it was good. I'm SO happy that there is a serendipity by my house!! They don't have their alcohol license yet (but mostly will next week!) so I will definitely be back with my friends to do the big mimosas and happy hour. Just like the other serendipity in Moorpark - the food is amazing, service is fast, and the ambience is beautiful. Nice to have this new restaurant in the neighborhood! Use to be Ortega Mexican restaurant which was also a great place, unfortunately Covid shut it down. Everything is new inside this bright airy open decor even the plumbing in the restrooms. Plenty of room and free parking inside the complex. Mary greeted me right away after the host seated me, ordered the Spinach Scrambler with hash brown and rye toast $16.99 Mary surprised me with an introductory Strawberry Crepe to try on the house which is awesome, light and flavorful. Spinach Scrambler is also yummy and just the right amount of portion. I'm so looking forward to my next visit to try more of the menu and to enjoy their bar when their liquor license is approved. Second visit, its on our list for South Bay breakfasts. Walking in you are confronted with a large space containing numerous well spaced tables. There is also a nice dog friendly covered patio area and a bar space with large screen TV. You are made to feel welcome, service is prompt, decent coffee, good food. We've had the huevos rancheros, cinnamon pancakes, benedict florentine, and veggie omelette. All were enjoyed. On our first visit they brought out a cheese blintz for us to share which was very good...if a single blintz was on the menu we would probably order to share; two would be a bit much. After finally getting over the slow death of Ortega 120, I was able to bring myself to check out the restaurant that replaced it. Serendipity appears be the second location of restaurant. The restaurant has a modern and brighter appearance inside. They had duo playing live music this morning. Maybe this is a Sunday thing. I tried this place for breakfast. I had originally considered a couple of the omelettes but one had hollandaise sauce on it (why? I dunno, so passed on that one although I could have asked for it off), or the egg white omelette but then it doesn't come with hash browns (not sure why exactly). So I settled for the country scramble and added an extra egg. It was served as an omelette and not a scramble and the eggs were cooked to death. Ugh. The egg portion seemed to be about the same amount as my wife's spinach scramble which made me question if they really put in an extra egg. My toast came out just over the line on the burnt side. (To their credit, they replaced it when I asked the server if they could change it.) The hash browns were well portioned but bland and not as crispy as you'd think by looking at them. Everything I ordered was underseasoned. I tried some of the crepes my daughter ordered and the crepe seemed dense and eggy. She was fine with it though. It did look pretty. There were four crepes. The service was nice and friendly. Value wise: I felt it was more expensive than most breakfast places in the area and the food wasn't as good. Bottom Line, would I go back? Um, not on my own, at least not for breakfast. I think there are better breakfast places in the South Bay that are of better value and just better food. I might go back for lunch/dinner to check it out. Would I absolutely sink the idea if a group wanted to go there for breakfast? No. Who might this place be good fit for? I think if you want bottomless mimosas and hear live music while trying to talk to your dining companion(s), this would be good (we were there on a Sunday). a friend of mine warned me about this place and how online prices they advertise change when you get there. i looked up the menu on yelp and saw the price for a cheese burger for $16... so i called in my order and added fries. when i got there pick up the cheese burger was now $23. i asked why... the first server said i had to order through yelp to get that price... that doesn't make any sense. she called her manager and she said the yelp menu was all wrong. i said your restaurant has been open for a while now... and now you're finding out its wrong... i don't so?? she finally honored the online price. something seems shady about this whole price changing thing!! but the burger was decent.... fries where really tasty. i really doubt i will go back. read more

The first time I went to serendipity I had a wonderful tuna melt that had great cheese and delicious French fries. My friends also enjoyed their eggs and waffles. The second time I was a bit disappointed. We had to wait a very long time to receive water, our drinks and the food was subpar. It's a big place so very loud. You can sit by the window but then you hear traffic. Inside is like a big banquet room. I had the tuna melt again as the first time it was so good. This time it was terrible. I asked for light cheese so the chef just added a slice of cheese without melting it. Plus it had no flavor. I hope they have corrected their issues as I would enjoy returning. read more

Serendipity is such a welcome addition to the South Bay! I have eaten there many times, and everyone I take there loves it too. Walking in, you will be immediately charmed by their closed patio and impressed with their full bar. And there are tons of tables for huge parties to dinners for two. Their breakfast choices are varied and creative, all things sweet or savory. I love their lunch selections too, and no one has onion rings quite like theirs. we are always looking for a good brunch place near the Riviera Village and were excited to see a new restaurant, Serendipity, opening up not too far from the village. However, the food at Serendipity was SO disappointing and overpriced. Upon entering, we were greeted by a trendy atmosphere in which there is the pink walls, loud music, a bar full of drinks and a bartender, which set the stage for our high expectations. Unfortunately, the excitement quickly faded when our meals arrived. Everything was bland and pretty mediocre, especially for the price. I couldn't even finish my meal and didn't bother asking for a box. We tried the eggs Benedict and a breakfast burrito, and honestly, neither had much flavor. This place feels more like a bar where people can drink and have fun without really caring about the food. Sure, alcohol can make anything taste better, but it didn't help here. The loud music and focus on drinks made it less family-friendly, too. Overall, I won't be coming back. I'm bummed we still haven't found a good new brunch spot, but I'm hopeful that more places will pop up in Riviera Village since it's such a great area with so many locals and tourists. read more

Natalie was our rockstar host and server for the evening and provided stellar service. Starting with a Peach Princess cocktail which had a splash of champagne, I was ready for the appetizers and my main entree: Roasted Salmon Fillet. The salmon was accompanied by seasonal vegetables and 2 puréed sauces which reminded me of a paint palette. I practically licked the plate clean it was so good! In addition, it's just gravy, no sausage gravy. With the S, it appears as if it's sausage with gravy and biscuits, but I was told that was not the case. When I realize this, even my order was to go, they did give me a sausage patty to add him with the biscuit and gravy indicated in front is not sausage. I believe I met the owner and his brother or business partner bc I told them about an issue I came across in Yelp while trying to order, and they took care of it right then and there. They were both very friendly, you can tell they are very grateful for their customers and providing top tier customer satisfaction. Now to the food, my son got a breakfast burrito he ate it all so I guess that's a good sign. Their serendipity grand breakfast is yummy, Also got their mozzarella cheese sticks basket which came with onion rings and fries, that was a 10/10 They also added a crepe to my order which was very yummy. Marina is the manager and was so happy to hear when I called to compliment the chefs. Every time I order from Serendipity they go above and beyond. Yes, I can be frustrating with changing up orders or adding items/sauces that don't belong, but they checked all my boxes and the presentation was perfect. I always love my hollandaise sauce on the side and they gave me two different versions to choose from. I also asked for salsa on the side (which is not in the description for the meal) but they did not forget to follow the notes. We also ordered the 4 stack of the most fluffy picture perfect pancakes that taste even better than you can imagine. 5 stars all the way for service, quality of food, presentation, and following detailed notes. Serendipity Restaurant is a new casual restaurant along PCH. Parking has gotten a bit challenging in this mixed use development, but we were able to find a spot. The bright and cherry restaurant is large. We were fortunate to be seated immediately on Sunday for brunch as there were just two of us. In addition to the large dining room, there is a large patio. The menu has lots of breakfast items as well as salads and sandwiches. It is not very friendly for the gluten intolerant. I had a tasty egg white omelet with fresh fruit, which was a generous portion. It was a bit underseasoned, but it was tasty. The wines are super low priced for a restaurant (smaller mark up), which is nice. There are not tons of selections, but they are good. The restaurant is VERY loud. A group would be challenging. Service was meh - they rarely come by but I didn't need much either. I am curious to try happy hour - maybe the service is better than at brunch. read more
