Friendly & attentive service. We went for Friday dinner about 5pm for two. We were seated inside promptly & ordered 2 drafts of Stella to start. We were served our beers, water & bread with garlic olive oil. Beers were ice cold and hit the spot. We ordered the Trio Pasta and Fish & Chips. Both entrees were delicious. The fish was lightly breaded so not oily & it came with coleslaw which was lightly cooked which I really liked. Husband's Trio Pasta was flavorful & a big portion. He enjoyed it. Hidden gem at the base of the hill Got a Bogo coupon and thought we'd try it. The staff are super helpful in redeeming this Facebook coupon as it is impossible for mere mortals to understand why it takes twenty or so clicks to get it activated The staff are great , by the way. Got the Old Fashioned Meatloaf plus an add on salad. Everything was quite good. The salad was very fresh and topped with carrots, corn, cucumbers, red onions and tomatoes. This place is usually very good and caring. I placed an order this past Sunday. Two orders matter of fact, one was sloppy Joe's the other garden burger. My family enjoyed the garden burger which comes with a salad. When I started eating my sloppy Joe's, it tasted funny. Which I appreciate. I was having lunch alone so I just wanted to relax and they delivered on that note. Dinner with a friend with their FB special buy one get one free burger OR brunch offer. Main parking lot was pretty full but not a lot of folks at Misto. Greeted right away as there were plenty of tables to choose from. We were handed menus, drink order taken and a small bucket of bread and an Olive tapenade/olive oil spread. I ordered the California Burger and my friend ordered the Classic Cheeseburger. Both came with a cole slaw and dill pickle slices. I had sweet potato fries. She had classic fries. The menu says sweet potato fries can be substituted but it doesn't say for an additional $3.59 nor did the waiter mention it. The portion of sweet potato fries was less than half of the side of French fries. Although both were delicious, it should have been mentioned in the menu and by the waiter. We go here often. The menu is huge and so is the food portion. I would say some of the food on the menu is OK and some is pretty good. The meatloaf is good. The salads are huge and good. The quesadilla is massive and good. They only have breakfast on weekends and I've heard from friends that it's pretty good, but I've never tried it. read more

Came for lunch with my mom and based off of other reviews, I got the "World Famous Fussili Bucati" which contains chicken, bacon, onions and is tossed in a sun-dried tomato cream sauce. It was a generous size and delicious! I would come back for that dish for sure. My mom got the almond crusted sea bass, which came with mashed potatoes and streamed spinach. I snagged a bite and I liked it, but both of us found the Marsala sauce way too sweet. I would put it on the side if I was to order that again. Service was attentive and friendly as well. read more

Misto is a cute and hidden cafe in South Torrance's Hillside Village. Lately our timing has been good on arrival at the last couple of eateries. Upon arrival, the Mr. and I had our choice anywhere for outdoor or indoor seating. There was only one other couple dining in for linner (late lunch or early dinner lol). On a hot south bay day, there were a lot of flies in their outdoor patio so, outdoor dining was not looking good. After us, more diners came in and sat indoors and out. We sat somewhat close to their bar and TV with a soccer game on. The wait staff were super nice and attentive. They brought us bread and oils to start out. A little fly did come by that I had to shoo away w/my hand. As for the mains, it reminded me of 3 star corporate diner type places. My club sandwich was kinda tasty and I liked the shoestring fries. The Mr. chose the chicken ravioli and a tomato bisque soup. Both alright and not too impressive. Ravioli needed to be seasoned better. Ambience is chill. I liked their jazz and swing music on their playlist. Will we return here? Probably not but, hope they can make adjustments for the better. read more

My husband and I had the worst service ever yesterday at around 1 PM which was very surprising after years of eating here. We made a couple of request for salt, pepper, sugar substitutes for our tea and did not receive them and was ignored by the waiter. I could barely understand what he was saying and he acted as if he was completely uninterested as he passed by our table several times. Never once did he stop after we made our request to see how we were doing. Not only that but the tea my husband ordered which was $3.99 was for hot black tea and he brought a herbal tea instead. When we asked for the correct one he also ignored that request. My phone gets bombarded with coupon offers and if this was the problem maybe they shouldn't offer them. This the waiter really needs to work on his customer/people skills if he is going to continue and expect a tip. read more

A small cafe in Torrance hidden in business shopping center. I was introduced to the cafe back in 1992. Many years have gone by but re-discovering the about 15 years ago was thrilling. We make an effort to stop by for lunch when in the area. We favor the calamari greek salad. Plenty of calamari and excellent salad. Service is friendly snd hood. Drinks are refilled when needed. Somehow I've never written a review of Misto, even though my family and I have been going there for 20 years! The food is solidly above average but perhaps not spectacular. For a long long LONG time, we had the same 2 servers waiting on us, but I don't think I've seen either of them lately. Dear Wife and I usually get quesadillas or the fusilli pasta and a flavored iced tea. Back in the day, my boys got burgers or chicken sandwiches. The cookies, especially the pecan ones, are always yummy. We kept coming back for the overall vibes of the place. It's truly like a neighborhood cafe, with an outdoor patio in front and a homey feel inside. For years and years, we'd walk through our neighborhood, often with one of our boys in the stroller and park ourselves at an outdoor table. More recently, I've met old friends and work colleagues there for lunch. It's a lovely place to catch up and spend a quiet hour or two away from the hustle of the world. It's right on Hawthorne, but somehow it always feels peaceful. I don't know if they do this anymore, but we also used to often get "box lunches" for the Hollywood Bowl with a sandwich, salad, cookie and drink, well packaged in a nice box. Went for the first time on a Saturday had a Facebook deal of buy one burger get second one free. I was pleasantly surprised with a small bucket of freshly baked scones . Mmmm so good . Ordered burger to dine in and second to go for my roommate. Burgers were fantastic with a side of golden crispy fries. Service was excellent. Young man with curly hair forgot name . My bad.... On my second visit , I was given another deal for a free pizza with entree purchase. My friend got the margarit pizza and I got the Trio Misto pasta . No scones during the week but, some cold bread with a type of bruschetta I think it was. The bruschetta was good but, I think warm bread would have made it taste better . The pasta and pizza needed some flavor . I didn't read pasta came with fried onions... I gave it a try , didn't complement the pasta for me that is. We ordered a cream brûlée ... that was not so good either. We will give it another try on a weekend for those scones and try the brunch and see how that goes . Otherwise I'd stay away from the pizzas and pastas . My friend concurs. Again service was excellent, ambiance is a simple dive cafe , looks pet friendly. Heater lamps outside. My boyfriend and I stopped by for dinner here before heading to the movies and it was pleasant experience. We wanted to go somewhere where the food wasn't too heavy. This spot was perfect for light meal. We decided to split the Tropicana salad special and Steak Dianne. The Tropicana salad was perfect for a summer night. It was definitely tropical. It had slices of granny smith apples, oranges, strawberries and mangos. It was a very refreshing salad. The Steak Dianne was an entree that was recommended by the waitress. It had thin slices of grilled fillet mignon medallions with red wine mushrooms and balsamic sauce over mashed potatoes. It had also had some asparagus spears. I was glad to see the steak wasn't too heavy of a meal. The grilled fillet mignon medallions were perfectly tender. The sauce on this dish was amazing. It wasn't too rich but yet very flavorful. Hidden gem is an overused way to describe a nice place to eat, but if ever a place deserved this designation, Misto is certainly worthy of it. You would never even know it's there. Even when you have the address and your GPS takes you to the address you'll not find it unless you follow the sandwich sign they place near the parking lot. Follow the arrow to the end of the walk and you'll be rewarded with a truly charming place to dine. I was there for lunch. It wasn't crowded at all. A place as good as this would likely be crowded if more people knew about it. It's just about a block south of PCH off Hawthorne Blvd., the way south side of Torrance in a business center. You'd never think a nice restaurant would be there, but truly I say to you, there is one, Mistro Caffe & Bakery is its name! Our server started us out with some really good quality bread and some oil and garlic to go with it. Oh yah! We ate off the lunch menu specials. We had the Misto's Mix Grill. It was healthy and delicious. Perfect for lunch. We also had the Mediterranean Chicken Salad, again, just right in every way! For dessert, we had Triple Chocolate cake and Raspberries. Just the perfect amount of sweetness. We also had the bread pudding. Perfect! Our lovely server, Angga was fantastic. She really made our lunch dining experience a pleasant one. What a great find. I came here for Mother's Day around 7pm it was after the crown left I guess there were only a couple tables taken. I never noticed this place till I found it on Yelp, I drive by here every day! I wasn't feeling that great, but the food was all very good, huge portions and very attentive staff. I took most of my food home and had it the next day - reheated it in the air fryer it was all good as new. It's well worth the visit when you can have double the amount of food as other places. The fish was sea bass that was pan fried lightly breaded and nutty sauce it has a very strong almond flavor. I prefer my sea bass not coated in anything and pan seared or grilled but this is how they prepare it and it's like the size of my shoe lol. You can easily share this with someone and split a salad that's plenty of food. Even the beef medallions were a nice portion on a glob of mashed potatoes. I think it's good but again this is only my personal preference, I don't like vinegar on my steak so the balsamic vinegar sauce is a bit pungent for me, I didn't order that, my son had it and he loved it. I like the balsamic vinegar with just a hint of vinegar on other dishes like duck, chicken... I would love to go back and try more dishes, it's a very cute little place and so close to home I can't believe I didn't notice this place for so long lol. This restaurant goes back decades in Torrance. In recent months it issues a BOGO deal through Best Buys Guide. I gave it a try today. It was an extremely uncomfortable experience. I arrived to a completely empty dining room. Yes, no other customers there! I discussed the BOGO with a waiter, while an employee seated at the bar within earshot offered to help me return to parking with a ToGo parcel. So much for courtesy that went down hill rapidly. Required to buy two pricey drinks I elected not to use the BOGO. While waiting for my entree, I asked for bread. Pre-sliced bread arrived in a bucket with oil dip. Each slice was stale! The waiter arrived to say it was "all the bread we have". Then a different bucket arrived with about the same texture, stale to the touch. I ordered a pasta entree with protein chunks; however, the bits of "filet mignon" were so tough it couldn't have been filet. Ditto for the bits of shrimp. Then I noticed the deep well of "oil" possibly olive oil, about 1/2 inch across the bottom of the plate separated from the pasta entree.That's right, fettucine isn't prepared with an "oil" barrier! I asked the waiter to remove the oil. I take meds for processing fats, so this was dangerous for me. Suddenly the "ass't mgr," who had previously sat at the open bar nearby, arrived, seized my plate to remove the lake of oil. He didn't go to the kitchen, but scraped my plate visibly, whilst attacking me. I was "wasting" his food and he would not tolerate "wasting" food. He wasn't going to charge me for the order, but neither was he returning the plate for me to resume. He would prepare something different for which he would charge me. Futher, "he's had nothing but trouble from me since I entered the restaurant." I left the restaurant immediately. This establishment is obviously hurting for new customers; hence they repeat a BOGO coupon for months through the holidays. Seems to me rudely attacking a customer for unappetizing food and unsatisfactory hospitality is the real issue here. A BOGO coupon isn't going to help this restaurant. The personnel also thought nothing of wasting my time! read more

This was my first sit down restaurant experience during Covid. My friend and I sat out on the patio which had the big plastic tenting. People were pretty spread out and because it was Saturday at 2pm, the lunch crowd was mostly gone. We had a great server and got the veggie burger, sweet potato fries and a salad to share. They bring a little pail with chocolate chip scones and mini muffins to get you going. It took awhile to get our food, so glad we had those snacks.
