    Chicken Savannah

Hidden gem at the base of the hill Got a Bogo coupon and thought we'd try it. The staff are super helpful in redeeming this Facebook coupon as it is impossible for mere mortals to understand why it takes twenty or so clicks to get it activated The staff are great , by the way. Attentive but not Intrusive. Even though I had the coupon for two brunches , they were totally flexible in getting one brunch and letting me upgrade to an entree (for the extra charge) The service is fast The Savannah chicken is AMAZING The pecan gravy is the best I've ever had. The chicken is cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes are as smooth as a babies bum. This is the meal! The interior is cozy , casual and upscale. Perfect for those lazy long lunches Parking tip: there is a small area in front of truxtons, but got under the arch at the base of the "u" (height limit 6 10") and there is plenty of parking only a few feet away Really positive experience. I'll be back

Got the Old Fashioned Meatloaf plus an add on salad. Everything was quite good. The salad was very fresh and topped with carrots, corn, cucumbers, red onions and tomatoes. The meatloaf had a good texture. The mashed potatoes were buttery and creamy. I think I tasted a hint of garlic in the creamed spinach. Service was very friendly.

Was supposed to be sloppy joes sandwich but it's a pulled pork sandwich

This place is usually very good and caring. I placed an order this past Sunday. Two orders matter of fact, one was sloppy Joe's the other garden burger. My family enjoyed the garden burger which comes with a salad. When I started eating my sloppy Joe's, it tasted funny. I thought maybe it was the sauce, but as I got half ay I looked at it and it was a pulled pork sandwich! I sent a msg to this establishment first but no reply so im helping. Didn't want to but just want them to pay close attention to their orders for take out. Please correct this

Menu is quite large with plenty of dishes to pick from. I'd say there's something for every palate here. The two servers yesterday were pleasant, attentive, not overly sweet they were chill. Which I appreciate. I was having lunch alone so I just wanted to relax and they delivered on that note. I ordered the warm spinach salad but I ordered extra fried goat cheese because it only came with one medallion. Other than that the salad was amazing. I'll be back for the fish menu. Oh and the actual restaurant atmosphere is chill and mellow. Casual but classy.

Dinner with a friend with their FB special buy one get one free burger OR brunch offer. Main parking lot was pretty full but not a lot of folks at Misto. Greeted right away as there were plenty of tables to choose from. We were handed menus, drink order taken and a small bucket of bread and an Olive tapenade/olive oil spread. I ordered the California Burger and my friend ordered the Classic Cheeseburger. Both came with a cole slaw and dill pickle slices. I had sweet potato fries. She had classic fries. The menu says sweet potato fries can be substituted but it doesn't say for an additional $3.59 nor did the waiter mention it. The portion of sweet potato fries was less than half of the side of French fries. Although both were delicious, it should have been mentioned in the menu and by the waiter. Burgers were healthy in size and delicious. Cole slaw was from a jar and didn't taste good. Thanks for the BOGO offer but still upset about the unpublished substitution charge. Ok, bye.

Tomato Basil Bisque Soup and calamari salad.

Still a quaint, little hidden gem in the Hillside Village on Hawthorne Boulevard right before you head up the hill. A nice place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I always recommend the tomato bisque. During lunch, you can get a soup and salad combo. the service is quick and professional. I had the tomato bisque and a calamari salad. Both were very good.

Misto is a cute and hidden cafe in South Torrance's Hillside Village. Lately our timing has been good on arrival at the last couple of eateries. Upon arrival, the Mr. and I had our choice anywhere for outdoor or indoor seating. There was only one other couple dining in for linner (late lunch or early dinner lol). On a hot south bay day, there were a lot of flies in their outdoor patio so, outdoor dining was not looking good. After us, more diners came in and sat indoors and out. We sat somewhat close to their bar and TV with a soccer game on. The wait staff were super nice and attentive. They brought us bread and oils to start out. A little fly did come by that I had to shoo away w/my hand. As for the mains, it reminded me of 3 star corporate diner type places. My club sandwich was kinda tasty and I liked the shoestring fries. The Mr. chose the chicken ravioli and a tomato bisque soup. Both alright and not too impressive. Ravioli needed to be seasoned better. Ambience is chill. I liked their jazz and swing music on their playlist. Will we return here? Probably not but, hope they can make adjustments for the better.

The food was delicious, and the drinks were unique. We ordered the citrus matcha and bumble espresso, both of which were light and refreshing. The caffeinated tonics also looked yummy. For food, we opted for the mango and chia syrniki, which was lightly sweet and had the consistency of pan-fried cottage cheese, and the Shakshuka. My only feedback is that the portions were a bit small, and we all wished the Shakshuka was served with more sourdough. Our friends got the strawberry & orange lemonade, matcha latte, Shakshuka, and the cheese & dill syrniki, which they also enjoyed. Overall, would recommend for a light meal and refreshing drinks. Parking is also a breeze, as there is a parking lot for the strip mall that Cool Beans is located in.

I don't like sugary drinks, so the friendly crew member recommended replacing their usual sweetened tonic water with unsweetened, and reducing the yuzu to 75%. Great Demand, But Poor Convenience for Working Customers…read more I've had The Nook's mushroom coffee before. My best friend took me here on a weekend afternoon, and even then there was a line, although it was manageable and mostly stayed inside the shop. Because of that experience, I knew The Nook was popular, but I wasn't prepared for what I encountered on a weekday morning. I wanted to pick up a coffee before work, so I actually planned ahead. Before leaving home, I checked the mobile website expecting that, given the obvious demand, there might be an order-ahead option. Unfortunately, there isn't one. So I gave myself an additional 30 minutes specifically for parking, waiting in line, ordering, and waiting for the drink to be prepared. I figured that should be more than enough for a morning coffee pickup. I arrived around 7:30 AM, and as I walked toward The Nook from the south side of The Enclave, I could already see the line stretching out of the door and into the courtyard. I was honestly shocked. There were easily 15-20 people ahead of me. I decided to give it a fair chance and got in line. After 10 minutes, the line had barely moved. At that point, I walked out. I understand that popular businesses get busy, especially in the morning. But there is a difference between being busy and having a customer wait in a line of 15-20 people with virtually no movement at 7:30 AM, particularly when there is no mobile ordering or order-ahead option. For a coffee shop with this level of demand, I find the lack of an ordering system especially frustrating. If you're going to consistently have lines extending outside the business during the morning rush, there should be some way for customers who are trying to grab a drink on their way to work to order ahead. And that's really my issue: the customer experience doesn't seem designed for people who need coffee efficiently. If you're coming here on a weekend, have nowhere to be, or are willing to dedicate an unpredictable amount of time to waiting, you may have a completely different experience. But if you're trying to get coffee before work, I would strongly recommend accounting for significantly more time than you think you'll need -- or having a backup plan. I no longer work as close to The Nook, and I don't drink coffee after noon, so I don't have much reason to make a special trip. Unless I'm conveniently nearby and see little to no line, I won't be making another attempt anytime soon. The Nook clearly has a loyal following, but popularity shouldn't come at the expense of basic convenience. If the demand is consistently this high, the ordering process needs to catch up with it.
