I brought my daughter in for a head spa service for her birthday and she has very curly hair. When the service was finished, her hair was left with multiple matted knots, to the point that it took us over an hour at home to carefully detangle it and massive clumps of hair had to be cut out. This should never happen during a professional service, especially when working with curly hair textures. For my own service, I was not informed ahead of time that the shampoo was not color-safe, and as a result, a noticeable amount of my hair color washed out. That should have been clearly communicated before starting. Additionally, the head massage itself was extremely aggressive. Instead of being relaxing, the repeated squeezing and pressure on the top of my skull caused me to leave with a headache, which completely defeated the purpose of a spa treatment. In addition, they used gloves to give us facials causing friction and damage. They also used honey from the grocery store as a "mask". I highly doubt these ladies are cosmetologists cause the practices are not professional at all. To make matters worse, at the end of the appointment, we were asked to tip which is super rude in my opinion. Overall, this experience felt careless and unprofessional, particularly when it comes to communication, technique, and consideration for different hair types. I would not recommend this place, especially for anyone with curly hair or color-treated hair. read more

The BEST head spa I've been to and I've been to head spas in Asia and at high end spots that were nowhere near as thorough. They really work to clean your scalp and leave your hair the cleanest and silkiest it will ever feel. I immediately knew I have to make this a regular thing after coming here, and I have never felt that way at other spots. Ask for Reaka, she's the best! It's a small spot in a strip mall but plenty of parking spots. Pro tip: hit Manaao a couple blocks over for awesome Thai food and then wash that food odor out of your hair afterward. I want to start off by saying I will unfortunately not be returning. I regret my decision to try someplace new. The technician that performed my scalp cleanse was way too rough with the shampoo process. Not once but twice. My poor scalp is so tender the morning after. She also brushed my tangled hair while soaking wet. That was so cringe I wanted to cry. I give it 3 starts only because the technician was nice. This is a review for the Serene Head Spa. Everyone should really visit and experience this amazing new technology and their top-quality service! I stumbled upon this place and decided to give it a try. The owner is incredibly nice and took the time to thoroughly walk me through the entire head spa procedure, as I was completely new to it. First, they examined my scalp before the treatment. My scalp was in pretty good condition, though I did have some clogged pores. Then I was taken into a private treatment room, where I laid down on a cool body massage chair while my scalp was massaged. It was incredibly relaxing--the massage chair made me feel like I was in heaven! The scalp massage itself was very soothing, and I could tell the products they used were high quality. They smelled amazing and made the whole experience feel even more luxurious. After the massage, I sat back in the chair while the therapist blow-dried my hair and applied some great hair products. She also used some innovative machines (I can't remember their exact names) that sprayed cool products between the strands and included a galvanic treatment, possibly to promote hair growth. TLDR: Amazing head spa right in Tustin! Check it out for a relaxing experience and a healthy scalp! The place is clean and the owners have invested a lot of high-end equipment for the treatment. Prices are reasonable and there's plenty of parking. In same plaza as Koki's. I just came from a last-minute appoinment at Serene Head Spa and it was the best way to spend a couple of hours on a rainy day when there's not much else to do. I walked by this place when I went to Tommy's for dinner one time and was surprised to see a head spa right here in our little Tustin! Super excited because I had only been to one before and it was in Anaheim somewhere (probably the one on TikTok). Anyway, I called and decided to treat myself and she said I could come right away. 5 minutes later, I'm walking in, in the pouring rain and Reaka greets me and has me take a seat. She does a scalp analysis with bar code looking scanner thing and you get to see your scalp UP CLOSE. The last head spa I went to didn't have this feature and it is really gross what you can see at that level. She showed me all the build-up I had and told me that my scalp was pretty normal (thank goodness). She did that for a few minutes and we talked through it. She does all areas of your head and you can point out if you have any troublesome spots. She explained that hair doesn't grow if there's a lot of blockage, and also that each hair follicle should have about 3 hairs coming out of it, so if it doesn't, that means there a problem. Who would've known?? I learned a lot. After that analysis, she said I should do the 90-minute treatment (which I had planned for anyway), to really get rid of all the build-up. They have five treatment rooms and all with massaging beds, which are amazing. You take off your tops and she gives you a robe to wrap around yourself, then you lay down and she covers you up with a blanket so you're not cold. Then she asked if I wanted an eye mask, which I did, to just keep out the light. She then proceeds to give you a head massage (amazing), and then I think she shampooed my hair like 3 times with 3 different shampoos, one of which was for hair loss, since she said a lot of hair fell out (that's normal for me). Pretty sure I felt asleep at some point. The pressure was perfect, and it was an overall relaxing experience. I think I was in there for an hour? Not sure, because time stops when you are in the zone. Then she dries you off, has you sit up, and you walk to the chair to get your hair dried. She does all these treatments with the expensive-looking Korean tools. There are serums, and potions, and creams, etc. Then she used one of the tools for cupping. I've never had cupping like that before, only the traditional ones with the glass cups. She did say not to shower for 6 hours after the cupping because your pores are opened up. She dried my hair and even styled it a little bit to smooth out the frizz (my hair is always frizzy and the rain outside didn't help). And I was on my way. The awesome thing was I didn't even know they were having a special of 25% off! Regular price is $158/90 minutes and $118/60, and with 25%, it was an amazing deal. And she said the owner lets you choose one of the departure gift from the stand by the door, which was full of beautiful hairclips. I thought that was such a nice touch. Reaka told me not to wash my hair for 3 days, and then come back to another analysis to see if there was any build-up. And then if I want, to come back after a couple of weeks to ge another analysis and then check how my scalp looks then. At that time, they could assess whether or not my shampoo/conditioner is contributing to anything detrimental to my scalp. The great thing is that Tustin finally has its own head spa and I don't have to drive all the way out to Diamond Bar or Rowland Heights! Please visit them and support small business. Take advantage of the deal right now and they also give you a loyalty card where you come in like 4 times and the 5th, you get $20 off. This is a fairly new business so i Purchased the Groupon to check them out. I had some last minute schedule changes and the owner was very accommodating and sweet about it. From start to finish, I had a wonderful experience! They have a tool to show the state of your scalp before and after so you know the work was efficient. The owner is very nice and informative about the needs of your scalp, so at the very least i would come to gain more information on whether or not you are using the correct shampoo/conditioner and what to implement to your routine.
