I had three nice experiences here, until today. I have a broken hand and only need a one hand manicure. 'Emily' was not happy that I questioned the price, as the pricing was different from the last three manicures I received here. I opted for a simple manicure, she offered clear polish- that's fine, since I can't maintain my own nails at this time. 'Emily' cut my nails straight across, yet did not file the sharp edges; my manicure was very short (a few minutes!!) and she was throwing my hand around. I really should've requested someone else, or just left the salon. The clear polish did not reach the edges of my nails, and she only polished half of my ring finger. I was making this my new nail salon home, but now I won't- or maybe I'll just steer clear of 'Emily'. I left and went to a salon around the corner, where I had a very nice experience. I definitely should've written a nice review before writing a bad one, and I actually recommended this salon to a couple of friends, however I've never been handled in the manner that 'Emily' handled me today. Worst/most expensive pedicure. I got gel French and it's genuinely terrible. The tech was entirely too rough. Instead of being relaxing I was on the edge of my seat. My feet soaked for approximately 5 minutes before she began. The pink used is so patchy. The white French is uneven. My nail filed uneven. My toes aren't even fully painted. Worst gel manicure of my life! The really frustrating part is I knew it would be as it was happening. It was one of those situations where the tech kept asking for my hand after the gel had only cured for about 10 seconds. When I said "the light isn't off yet" she just said "it's fine." I knew it wasn't, but I didn't want to be a Karen so I'd remove my hand. I should have been a Karen. I know my nails are short, but that's not the problem. This picture was two days into the manicure. This absolutely should not happen with gel. I would have gone back to get them fixed but I was on vacation hours away. This was my first professional pedicure and the experience overall was a bit disappointing. Typically, I do my own mani/pedis because I'm self-conscious about my feet and really don't feel like dealing with the nail technicians talking crap about my them. Sure enough, I was already nervous when I walked in and the vibes certainly didn't help. I came in wanting a "Special Pedicure" ($43") and added gel, which is another $15. The receptionist was alright. Not welcoming by any means. I figured people would try to give newcomers an amazing experience so that they would become repeat customers, but maybe I'm just being overly optimistic. Lily was my nail tech. When she directed me to the pedicure chairs, the other nail tech was already making fun of me in Vietnamese saying that she (Lily) kept getting fat customers no wonder why she's poor. First of all, I don't know how being overweight correlates with poverty. Secondly, people shouldn't be talking behind people's back. They made the assumption that I can't understand their language and I heard and understood all their rude remarks and complaints, but decided to give them them another chance because I figured maybe they actually do a decent job. They got really high ratings and various people in my neighborhood recommended this place so I decided to give them a chance. Lastly, I'm not overweight. Just because I don't fit the typical beauty standards of Asian and Vietnamese women (petite and skinny) and I'm fit and thicc, they shouldn't be body shaming people. Lily proceeded to comment on how gross my feet was to the other nail tech. The other nail tech disagreed and thought my feet were pretty (thank you). Honestly, I would have done the pedicure myself if my back wasn't in so much pain. I wanted to love this place and this experience so much, but the negative vibes and rude comments really ruined it for me. As she continued to work on my feet, one of the nails got stuck to the heat lamp and ruined the gel polish. She shaved off the lumpy part of the polish and painted over it so the final product is pretty lumpy and uneven. She didn't do a good job cleaning up around my toe nails either - there are dried up paint marks all over the skin around my toes. Curious, I asked her if she was going to scrub my heels because that was supposed to be included. She suggested that I upgrade to the CND package ($65) and it seemed reasonable so I agreed. She pulled out a tray with three different scrubs, lotions, clay, etc. The warm orange liquid in a bag was placed over my feet and it felt really nice. Apparently, it was supposed to make my feet super soft. The clay material that she rubbed on my legs felt pretty cooling and soothing. The hot towel wrapped around my legs were an added bonus (highly recommend!) She rubbed my feet and leg muscles, which was fine. I expected something more relaxing or with more force but she might just lack the strength or ability to do so. It just felt like someone was feeling up my legs. No biggie. The CND package advertised that it would take approximately 55 mins. The entire experience - soak, gel polish, scrub, paraffin, hot towel, foot rub, etc. - took 30 mins. The final damage was $80. I walked in with the intentions of tipping $20, but after the negative experience, I figured $5 was better than nothing. Overall, the experience was meh at best. I could've done a better job at home for free 99 without feeling super uncomfortable and all the insults. The best part was the minty clay stuff that she rubbed around my calves and shin, hence the two stars. I paid for an $80 pedicure but it looks and feels like $20. I'm pretty sure I'm never getting a pedicure ever again. At least not here. read more

The service was provided for my 2 preteen daughters and me. But, my 11 y.o. spent a lot in her nails, meaning extras, for one I was asked for the other one, not. My 12 y.o. was fine. when we get to me, the person who did my pedicure and nails made a mess putting me in a seat that had a bad drain and made me move.Then she cut my second left toe and it kept on bleeding and she insisted in pushing my foot inside the hot water. I ended up 5 days later in the ER with a toe nail infection. So I thought I had payed too much to suffer but I see that I didn't know what was going to mean in the end. The staff here is friendly. The place is clean and well spread out. Michelle was my go-to for acrylic fill-ins and gel polish pedicures. She did great. Unfortunately, she's recently moved to a salon in Towson, I believe. If she happens to return though, be sure to book with her. Yen and EZ are great with acrylic fill-ins as well. I recommend them too. The young receptionist is awesome. Great at keeping techs' appointments on schedule or communicating delays. One note though: their ATM machine is often down/not functioning and they do not allow tips as add-on to charges on cards so take cash with you for tips. read more

I went here on a recommendation from someone in my neighborhood. Most recently I decided to let my nails grow out. I wanted to maintain them and keep them looking healthy. I had heard great things about this spa from so many people so I headed here. This was my 3rd visit to Serenity, that's how much I love this place. When you walk in you're immediately greeted by the receptionist. The ambience of this place is very relaxing. The area where the pedicures are done are so nice and it's no wonder they named themselves Serenity. There are also plenty of stations for people (I think I counted like 12? It may be more). I let the receptionist know that I was there for a gel manicure. She showed me the polished available and set me up with Crystal (I think that was her name? I didn't quite catch it) Crystal quickly got to work and soak my nails to remove the previous polish. She did and excellent job of preparing my nails for the new polish. The one thing I appreciated what just that. I have gone to another salon previously and the gentleman at that location had filed my nails too thin and cut my cuticles causing them to bled. Obviously I never went back and the tech here made me very comfortable in her ability to give a manicure. She cut my nails to a nice, manageable (I.e. wouldn't get in the way) length and filed them nice and even. When it came time to apply the polish, she did so nice and evenly, ensuring that they looked perfect. I appreciated the fact that she was rather quick 45 minutes but didn't give me a half-a**ed manicure. It was obvious she cared about her work. The only negative (and it's not really negative) thing I experienced was the polish was applied too thickly the last time so it took a while to remove. However, it never chipped (and it hasn't previously) between visit which are usually every 3 weeks. They do accept credit but make sure you carry cash for tipping. They won't add it to the credit transaction. They have an ATM on the premises that only has a $1.00 service charge so that's a major plus (the Bank of America charges $3). I highly recommend this salon and they are guaranteed my business until I leave this area. I hope you pay them a visit when you're in the area and are in need of any spa services. This was my first time visiting this nail shop. A fellow yelper recommended this place. I didn't have an appointment so I just walked right in as soon as they opened. All the staff were very friendly. I liked the fact that they had a huge selection of nail colors and plenty of pedicure chairs. I can't remember my nail technician but he was very nice and did a great job on my nails and toes. My first time in, I got lucky with Tiffany and have been going to her since whenever I come in. She does amazing work. I can bring in a picture and show her what I want and she replicates it, while still making it signature to me. She has the most bubbly personality, and creates an atmosphere that is comfortable and relaxing. ---- To add on, all nail techs are not created equal. I tried a new person when Tiffany was out , and I was not very pleased with my nails. The work was a bit sloppy and the shapes of my nails didn't match. Even still, I would recommend this shop. Look how thick this nails is, was quite disappointed in this place. My nails look like they are press ons, if you are paying $64 be sure that they don't look like this. Previous time I came it was not bad, I asked for glow in the dark nails again and told several ladies that's specifically what I wanted. What i got was not the same as the previous time, it ended up being a different powder. The manager said they couldn't do anything because what's done is done. Be aware!!!: They don't care once you pay, they don't do refunds and no courtesy of anything!! so please be sure you are satisfied before you leave and pay . This is the nail salon that I go to every three to four weeks. I love this salon so much I drive almost an hour each way to go here. Make sure you have an appointment. If you don't, you will wait. It's not their fault. They are usually slammed on the weekends and do not rush their technicians. While this could make some upset, but I would rather my nail technician take their time and give me a personable experience than rush me through to get to the next client. They have a wide variety of color choices. Tiffany, Sophie, and a few others are the best at on trend nail designs; however any of the technicians will provide quality work. The salon is clean and nicely decorated. The pedicure area is my favorite. Their pedicures are relaxing. Make sure you get at least the special pedicure. It's a little more, but absolutely worth it. Some other people have mentioned issues with their nails. It happens. Ive been getting my nails done for over 10 years. It's happened to me before. BUT, if it does happen the managers make it right. They will fix the issue at no cost and no wait without an appointment. No questions asked. I appreciate not being questioned when there is a problem. I went last week for a mani pedi and had called for an appointment. They took me back to the pedi chair right away where a waited 45 minutes and only after complaining did someone come. She was not happy she cut my big toe nail below the quick and painted the skin to make it look better. Then she did my nail and cut my finger. I have been here a few times now. The first couple times were fine. The most recent times however were awful. I got acrylic overlay and a pedicure. Acrylic was okay the pedicure was horrible. The woman massages and scrubbed my feet so hard I had bruises on the top of my one foot the next day and it was very sore. I just went back today hoping it would be better. I got a fill. Came in here with my coworker who likes coming here after work, was kinda skeptical at first by the reviews but I was greeted & treated like a regular. Lily was going to do my services at first but then I decided to do a half leg wax which came up to $38 (not bad ) & she did an excellent job to make me feel very comfortable, I was even falling asleep. She did notify me that a client might come in & some one else would have to do my gel mani & pedi, which I was completely fine with. This place is AMAZING! I had a Dr's appointment near by and l was way overdue with my pedicure. So l pulled up the reviews and was like okay lets get this started. I was seated right away and they put a plastic liner in the pedicure tub before you. Now talk about not passing along the germs. Yessss finally! ! They also autoclave there instruments and open the bag in front of you. I couldn't ask for better service than that. I also was offered a refreshment. On the list was a bottle of water, coffee, or soda. I opted for the water since it was a warm day out. I was asked if the water temperature was good. Thanks for asking .. much appreciated. My tech name was Angel and she was exactly that! They have a list of pedicure services that they show you once you are seated. Starting with the basic. Which trust me it's just that. At $35.00 for basic. I decided to go with the milk and honey scrub which was $45.00 . .Omg l'm glad l did. My skin felt so silky smooth and soft. It was the best pedicure that l have had in a long time and the rub down and massage to my legs and feet was again so relaxing. Angel was very good with only one exception. . I wasn't crazy about how she pulled on each toe separately. She seems to be a little heavy handed and l think she could have left that part out. Con: like the other review, I got a male tech the older one, and he went nuts on my cuticles. My toes were sore for days and have now turned in a cellulitus infection. I emailed the salon with photos and have not received a response yet. I dont want any reprisal against that employee, he was otherwise good, just needs to not cut. Don't let him cut on you. I've now come to this place a handful of times for different things. Mainly pedicures, 2 times for acrylic and 2 times for dip. I've had different people each time. My first time I did a $55 OPI pedicure and dip nails with tips. The gentlemen did wonderful! I loved it. Each visit after my nail polish chips within days and the acrylic literally does not stay on. They start peeling away after 5 days or completely come off. I've never experienced such cheap acrylic before. This last trip I did a milk and honey pedicure and dip nails with tips with Nancy. It was my worst experience by far. She made me bleed by cutting my cuticles too short on not only my toes but my fingers as well. I paid $99 plus a $15 tip for both services. Serenity Nails & Spa can be hit or miss. I've only come here for pedicures and eyebrow waxing. Sometimes, they do a good job. Sometimes they don't. During my last experience, I felt like it was really rushed. I barely got to dip my feet in the water before they started working on my feet. Therefore, the tech didn't to that great of a job removing the dead skin from my feet. During another experience, I had a male tech who scrubbed my feet too hard. I literally had scrapes on my feet after he was done. This place has been old faithful for me because it's close to home but I think it may be time to try other places. read more
