The color Jose applies is perfect with my completion and the short angled cut works well with my jawline. Jose always takes the time to get my cut right. My hair is really thick so after he texturizes with his sheers, blows it out and flat irons it, he goes back in with the scissors to get the right angle of the style. The staff is always super friendly and always offer me a beverage. The team at Serenity Salon & Spa are a well oiled machine. Jose's assistants are super helpful and detailed at what they do. I am a bit confused as to how there are any positive reviews about this salon. I suspect they may be deleting negative reviews. This is by far the worst salon I have ever been to in regard to customer service and quality. I went in and asked for balayage and showed the stylist the model photo with light brown caramel highlights. She seemed to have no idea what she was doing and ended up lightening my hair too much and I left with an ashy blonde color which looked horrible and was not what I asked for. She said it looked like my photo and it was just the salon lighting (??) but if i still didn't like it she would fix it in a few days. I ended up calling back the next day and the receptionist (who was also rude) told me she wouldn't be back until July so i decided to have another stylist fix it. He ended up dying my hair red and in some places it legitimately looked pink. I told him this was too red and also not what I asked for and he told me it was the best they could do and now it will take a month for me to get to the color I asked for but only if I kept coming to him and having him fix it. When I came back and asked for a refund since it looked awful the stylist came out and yelled at me and told me that I don't deserve a refund and life isn't fair and that this is now my reality. I left and contacted the owner who was a despicable man who accused me of lying and said the stylists both said I left happy when that was clearly not the case. He also said both hair colors looked fine when they are both extremely unflattering and completely not what I asked for. He basically kept stringing me along saying he will contact the stylist and see if he could offer me a refund and never got back to me. Please avoid this salon at all costs. They do not know what they are doing and will verbally abuse you if you mention that they did not meet your standards. read more

If I could give this salon a zero rating I would. My previous colorist moved and I was assured a master colorist would take care of my partial highlights and lowlights I have extensions and I was told the colorist was well equipped to work with them- unfortunately after three hour I had splotches of lowlights all over my blonde hair giving cheetah patches. Also having half blonde and half low lighted hair strands. I am all about giving second chances and let the colorist know I'd come back in the next day to fix it. Three more hours of my time and two more bleaching services later it still was not fixed- when I asked to get my money back I was told no by the owner he expected me to come back in and waste more of my time fixing something that never should have happened in the first place. Now I'm out 400 dollars and 6 hours and the problem is still not fixed. Please save your money and time and go anywhere else but here. read more

since the new ownership took over, it has been so bad. they don't value their employees who are so talented. Four of them who I loved left the place and it has not been the same since. The two girls left first! They were there for 8 years and the other two 20 years. One of the hairstylist saved my hair extensions which I paid $300.00 for and they refused to give them back to me. They fuck up. I don't think they will survive past this year. bad karma coming. It is too bad. I really loved that place. I am going to find them wherever they went. This salon is top notch! Since my last review, I have gotten my hair colored, cut, eye brows waxed and have had manicures and pedicures. The hair stylists are all friendly and great. I have curly hair and love Heather! She cut and colored my hair and I love it. I have had my eyebrows waxed by Sharon and she has done a great job. For nails, I have gone to crystal and Phyllis. Crystal is great for designs. All in all, for me, this salon is a keeper because of their service. Everyone goes out of their way to make you feel special and important. I had wonderful experiences at this salon until the ownership change. Most recently, I was surprised by an additional fee for using my credit card to pay for services rendered. There was no email, text, or mention of the fee, even when I was paying. There was 1 very small, ambiguous sign at checkout that I noticed and asked about. I can only imagine how many people paid and never noticed the change. This is just deceitful and bad business and as much as we love Cori, both me and my mother decided to leave. read more

I just moved to this area and in desperate need of a cut and color. This salon had some good reviews so I gave it a shot. I first time my hair was FRIED due to being over processed. I went back a few weeks later for a correction. The stylist blamed me!!!! I've been drying and styling my own hair for years and never had an issue before! When I called to cancel future appointments and explain why, the receptionist was very polite when she hung up on me! My current stylist has had to cut at least 6 inches off of my hair! Sent my daughter here (a very pricey Christmas gift) and she came home in tears. She has very long curly naturally blonde hair, which I specified when I made the appointment. She wanted a good cut and to darken up some of the sun lightened parts. I did some research and found on Serenity's site that they had a stylist who claims to specialize in "blondes, difficult curly and short hair." I am giving one star because the color looks good. But the experience was a nightmare. She was there for 3.5 hours. After coloring and washing her hair, my daughter had multiple stylists ripping through her hair to comb it out. If you know curly hair, as this stylist's description touts, you know to section it and start gently combing from the bottom up. Nope, not at Serenity. Here they start at the top and rip downward. My daughter's hair ripped out out, broke off and her scalp turned blood red. And, worst of all, she left in tears. When I called to speak to the owner, Melissa, about our experience, she defended her stylist, and instead blamed my daughter's hair for being "kinky and dry." Really? If I could post a pic here of my daughter's hair (before the Serenity nightmare), I would. Yes, it is blonde so maybe a bit dry but there is absolutely nothing "kinky" about her curls! We paid top dollar - $250 - for this experience. But I suppose the insults were free! read more

I came into this salon for a simple service and within the short amount of time I was in the salon I witnessed the owner and the stylists barking orders at the only assistant working at that time. I have been to Serenity for a massage in the past. Today, I went in for color and a hair cut. I had a horrible haircut a few months ago and I was growing my hair out. When I first moved to Tampa, it was not only in my apartment complex (west Park village) but someone referred Chaz to me specifically. When I went in, Chaz had apparently called in sick so I got Kendall. I was pleased with the color but not the cut - I went back for a walk-in appointment and saw Franky who did a good job but eventually left to open his own salon. I went back once again and made an appointment with Chaz to give her another shot since she was highly recommended to me - again, upon my arrival she had called in sick...again! The owner was very apologetic about it and had me work with Heather - who I believe was new to the salon. Well - lucky me! Heather has done an amazing job month over month when doing my highlights, lowlights, base bump, cut and style! She's such a sweetheart and makes for a fantastic experience! This salon gets a 5 for massage and facials, but a 1 for haircuts. I went in yesterday for a haircut and asked for bangs and 1 inch off (the stylist repeated what I said) and came out with lots of short layers everywhere - a horrible shag that resulted in about 6 inches off in places. I was busy trying to entertain my 5 year old while she was cutting, so I didn't notice things had gone wrong until it was too late. Facial estetician and masseuse were top notch. I am new to the area and don't often have time on the weekends to get my hair done, so I was so happy to see that I was able to get an appointment on a Sunday when most other salons are closed. First of all, they have the nicest staff I have ever met at a salon. The sweet girl at the front desk was warm and welcoming in such a genuine way from the moment I walked in and so professional. Next, Jose and Francisco are absolute rock stars. These guys are not only so unbelievably talented, but they make you and everyone else feel like a million bucks from the moment they meet you. The salon is so beautiful with lots of natural lighting, and everything was so clean and updated. Francisco did my highlights and he was a genius. He was SO FAST and SO PRECISE! I was stunned...I have never had highlights done that quickly and come out so well. I'm usually there for hours and hours, and this was such a change. Jose cut my hair, also, so fast and he did such a beautiful job and styled it in such a glamorous way- they both truly care about their customers and it shows! They work so well as a team, and honestly I felt lucky and honored to have had this random chance to have my hair done here, because I was only looking for whatever was open on a Sunday! Also, the girl who washed my hair is extremely talented too...I wish I knew her name, but she scrubbed my scalp in such a relaxing way and took such great care in her work- this made a great impression on me.
