    Fresh Choice Pizza

We just happened to be parked infront of Serrano's so we thought why not get a late night snack. I've never heard or seen this spot but there seemed to be a steady flow of customers. We got a slice of the fresh pizza which included red onions, basil, and tomatoes. The slice was huge! And it was very interesting because it seemed like a personal pizza with crust all around the slice. I loved it. It was super fresh and hot.

This spot is not bad for pizza. I am from NJ so unfortunately I am biased. I think it is decent if you are craving a slice of pizza, but the crust could be better. It is definitely a good spot for a quick slice of pizza.

This review is more for the wings than anything else. I love that their serving of a slice of pizza is equivalent to TWO of the standard pizza shop's single slice serving size. Spectacular bc I usually need 2 slices to satisfy this big boy hunger. The wings used to be good here. I'd get the Serrano Special and would be a happy camper. But a few days ago...I got an order of buffalo wings and was SUUUUPER disappointed. How do you ruin wings? I tell you how. They're supposed to have sauce. Buffalo wings have buffalo sauce. So what happened? We get home and open our to go tray to find what looked like bland ass baked wings with only a tinge of orange coloring and a tiny little spice

Note that I did not try their pizza but their pasta since I was craving that. Perhaps that was my mistake since it's Serrano's Pizza, not Serrano's Pasta. It came with garlic bread, which was appreciated. The garlic bread was the standout: crispy, warm, and flavorful. I even thought about asking for another one. The lasagna was just alright. It wasn't the worst I've had, but it's not something I would think about coming back for. It was swimming in oil/sauce. It was $16, which is steep for lasagna that unfortunately tastes like something you get from the frozen aisle at the grocery store. Their sauce, while it said was made in house, just tasted like something out of a jar. I also wish they put a bit more cheese in between the pasta layers. The food also took awhile to come out - like 20-30 min. There's no table service - more of a takeout place with a few seats on the side if you're looking for that.

Ordered a slice of pepperoni and apparently it's made to order slices. After waiting a bit I received a huge personal slice pizza. Nice, hot and tasty. Here's the kicker...only $8.00!

Came here for a late night slice since it was right across the street from our parking garage. I was pretty shocked to see that a slice of pizza was $10, that was until I saw just how big those slices were. Each slice was actually cut into two - making it much easier to eat! The picture doesn't really do it justice, but take my word, they were big! I would say they were similar to the size of a pizza my heart slice, but bigger, more doughy, and way more toppings - so much more filling. We had to wait about 10 minutes for them to be ready, but the pizza came out piping hot. We ended up taking it to go, driving about 20 minutes, and the pizza was still warm when we got home. I got the chef's pizza and my bf the pepperoni and we were both happy with our choices. Don't see myself going out of the way for this pizza but would definitely get it again if I'm in the area looking for some drunchies or a late night bite!

Two slices (from left to right): one slice of Serrano's, one slice of Americana; $25 after taxes.

Amelia recommended one pasta dish per person in the party, to share family style (which ended up working well for us, since we also got three appetizers, and finished the meal with a small amount of yummy leftovers for tomorrow) so that's what we did, along with the starters... We got the "big juicy meatballs with tomato and pancetta," which were incredible; the bread was delicious and certainly is not just a side to the amazing (definitely juicy) herbed tender meatballs. I'd definitely get this again, along with the grilled zucchini with worm salt and mint, which was so flavorful and tasty. We also got the smokey romano beans with fire roasted tomato, which was also really good but just keep in mind the emphasis on the smokey flavor! It wasn't my cup of tea but that's for sure a personal thing. For pastas, I'd rank them in this order: 1. our favorite was today's lasagna du jour, which was mushroom! So delicious, with a crispy cheesy crust, soft tender interior, and an almost caramelized tomato sauce accompanying. 2. Reginette with pork sugo (meat sauce) and spicy turnip greens was next, which had wonderful flavor with the tomato-based sauce and pieces of pork but if you like it slightly softer texture it might not be for you (same with the fusilli; the go-to preparation is aldente!). 3. Fusilli alla vodka with tomato, calabrian chili, cream, basil, and added garlic butter shrimps; this one's sauce felt a little underwhelming and more watery than creamy, and I'm just now realizing that although the menu said four garlic butter shrimp (an extra $7), we only got three. I think I'd come back for the lasagna and/or to buy the pasta from their expansive stock, cook it a bit longer, and serve it covered in a decadent creamy sauce.

We arrived around 5:00 p.m. and were told there was about an hour wait for indoor seating, but we could be seated immediately on the patio. We decided to take the outdoor option, and it ended up working out perfectly. The patio still has plenty of ambience, and the beautiful weather was definitely on our side. We actually founded the indoor dining room to be quite festive and loud, so being outside made for a much more comfortable and enjoyable experience. We started with the salted Brussels sprouts and Caprese salad, both of which were hearty and delicious. We also tried two seasonal cocktails, the Watermelon Sour and the Blood Orange Martini. Everything came out with excellent timing. We asked that the appetizers be brought out before our entrées, and the pacing was perfect. The service was great. Our water glasses were consistently kept full, another team member was attentive about clearing empty plates and providing fresh cutlery, and our server was courteous, knowledgeable, and helpful when we had questions about the menu. For our entrées, we ordered the Ultimate Pizza, Angel Hair Pasta Pomodoro with chicken, Classic Spaghetti and Meatballs, and the Skillet Pasta. The food overall was delicious, and there was more than enough for our small group. We enjoyed sharing everything family-style, which made it fun to sample several dishes. One note: we found the Angel Hair Pasta and Spaghetti and Meatballs to be quite salty. That's certainly a matter of personal preference, but next time we'll ask if the dishes can be prepared with less salt or perhaps have the sauce served on the side so we can control the seasoning ourselves. Overall, we had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the patio was a great choice. I would definitely return, especially now that we know to plan ahead for indoor seating and to request less salt on the pasta dishes.
