Tonights experience was terrible. Usually Pizza Express is my go to since it is just on the other side of the hill. Been going here for years! Tonight however, my delivery guy was a real jerk! I notice the guy showed up, so I get up and meet him at my door...this guy was rude and aggressive while handing over the pizza box so that I may sign the receipt. Not a good impression. I try to greet the guy and thank him for the delivery as I am still signing the piece of paper, and I click the pen because I am finished. And then this guy snatches the pen out of my hand and says "that's my pen". I snapped at dude, like "Excuse you! That was rude bro." And I know that he heard me because he was muttering something as he walked away. He was wearing one of those bluetooth headsets that hang on your ears and run along the back of your head. Anyways, I called this in. I explained myself to the woman on the phone and tried my best to not raise my voice with her, because it's not her fault and I was not upset with her or my food. She listened to me and was very nice about it. So thank you to her. But delivery dude needs to take some customer service training because I didn't deserve that shit. I was working 3 minutes away and knew that there was a familiar pizza joint in the Bernal heights neighborhood. I had never been here in person, but I used to work somewhere that ordered from here often back in 2018. As I sat waiting for my large pizza to be ready, I had some banter with the workers. They said that they have been the same owners for over 40 years now. With that said, I knew that I was gonna be biting into a good pizza pie. I wasn't the only one that was making small talk with the staff. A few others that came to pick up their orders were having the same relaxed conversation about the pizza and their everyday life as if they were long time friends catching up. You gotta love it, this business is clearly ran on quality food, service and respect from the community. Now for the pizza.. I was trying to share with 2 other people so a large was just enough to get the job done. Plenty hot and full of flavor. Lastly, the ambiance was that of a classic old school pizza joint. So it's been 30mins since I told the pizza girl to have the owner call me regarding my wrong order....no return call so I decided to post it. Dont order from here. They burned the bottom of my pizza and got my order wrong more than once. Today, with my pizza, I ordered cheese bread and the girl who took my order told me the receipt said garlic bread. The crazy thing is when she took my order she told me to hold on so she can add the cheese bread. But when I got my order it was not cheese bread but garlic bread. So I called back to let them know so they can send me my cheese bread. Simple fix right? Well no! She told me that THE OWNER said they cant send me my cheese bread because I already got it. Got what? I got what I DID NOT order. I told her I'd be happy to give the driver the garlic bread I DID NOT ORDER back. Not an easy fix. Customer service is horrible. They dont want to fix the wrong order instead she said driver cant return. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE! Customer service sucks! When they mess up yr order they will tell you their driver cant return with the correct order because they busy but instead you will have to come pick it up. WTH! Cortland Ave is not a destination for late night, so I was grateful to find Pizza Express this Monday evening, almost home and reluctant to trek down to Mission. They were open at 9:35, the staff were welcome to have me, and the pizza was truly express, done in 10-12 minutes while I waited. As others have mentioned, this is a longstanding, neighborhood small business, and I appreciated the prompt, no frills service, especially when I just wanted to eat. Arriving home I had modest expectations for taste and was happily surprised. Mediterranean Special - UPVOTE. Lots of veggies, delicious artichoke hearts (a fave of mine), legit sundried tomatoes. So once I was exploring my neighborhood looking something to fill my fat ass stomach and then I find pizza express and it was amazing. So tips if you go 1. TIP THE WORKERS because what your about to taste is very good 2. If your with a group find somewhere to eat because the actual place is small and there are not a lot of seats 3. Enjoy it while it last because the pizza there is so good. The crust is so fluffy and the cheese is stringy goodness and it is so authentic because they actually make it like traditional pizza and it's so big it will fill you up with like 2-3 slices. The only thing that is wrong with this place is the price but it is not that bad for the quality. A cute pizza place in a cute little area, there's a couple of tables inside to sit and eat if you order by the slice or want to eat there. We were able to order by the slice, up to 3 toppings. The pizza had a nice crisp to it and the crust had a good chew to it. It could have used a little more sauce but overall had such great flavor. There are many good places to choose from, but the reason I order from them is their crust. They have a really nice doughy crust that is crunchy yet fluffy inside. Not sure what rating I want to give Pizza Express because it can be good and it can be bad - I just ordered a Pizza close to 7pm and it was made incorrectly so I called back and the girl listened to me complain asked me to hold and then said they were making us a whole new Pizza and to swap it out with the new one that they were going to make but now I have to wait 45 mins for the new pizza to get here - before when Jorge was working and was the manager or overseeing the restaurant he would accommodate his loyal customers and since he is no longer there I feel that Paul does not deal with complaints like Jorge did - I should of either been told we can send you another pizza, give you a discount towards your next order or give you a free pizza next time - I love Pizza Express put I think I may have to take my business elsewhere and I would hate to do that because we have been long time customers and my whole family also dines there - my nephews that come from Texas only like Pizza Express but I like to go where customers are heard and valued. read more

Pizza Express at 813 Cortland Ave, San Francisco, CA 94110 is not the same anymore. I ordered the Express Special Pizza because it was once my favorite. This time I had more crust and less toppings and cheese. The crust was harder than usual. The toppings were half the toppings they usually put on it and the cheese was very light. This is no longer my favorite pizza spot anymore. Let me give you advice Pizza Express never change your recipe and compromise your toppings because you rip your customers off doing that.
