We stopped her for some late night dinner and this is one of the best pizza spots in SF. The owners were making everything fresh and were very sweet! They let us do a split pizza and we also got a pasta which was enough for 4 people. I love how they make the pizza and pasta in front of you and you can tell everything is fresh and made with love. Came here on a DIY pizza food tour. Started across the street at Angie's and noticed this place immediately after. It's the perfect hole in the wall and don't be discouraged. They do fresh slices, made to order and they're huge! It says 1 slice but it's really two big pieces. Easy for sharing. The prices are a bit crazy ($12 for a slice) but again you get two massive ones! This ended up being the best spot of the night!! Flavor was on point. read more

Yes I threw in an extra star for nostalgia. This place is one of those gritty, mom and pop shops, that reminded me of so many of the most rewarding places I have visited over the years. The slices are huge and cheap and made by pop. The timeline is loose depending on how many slices he is making, as they are all made to order. Nothing slick about this place. They could probably use some help with signage and interior design but I'm pretty sure the years march on around them and they are just focused on surviving day by day in a tough business. Small little hole in the wall pizza/Italian place ran by a mom and pop. Pop was here making taking orders and making food during my visit. I don't have much to say during my visit but I wanted to finally put up a more recent photo of their menu items. Dont be fooled by the picture, the portion was giant! I was definitely caught off guard by the prices when i first walked in, but once the slice came out i could see it was well worth it. It was around 10 dollars for these two slices, so price is ultimately not bad for the amount of food. Despite the price, the pizza was extremely fresh and crunchy, and the cheese pull was never ending!! The service was great and they really did put work into the pizza, judging by how fresh it was! The inside was a bit rustic, which was also off putting at first, but it does truly feel like a family owned kitchen and that you are being taken care of. This place makes really amazing pizza, I always call and order ahead when I'm planning on having a picnic at Dolores park. It's a block away and makes for a great snack for me and my friends! The crust is so fluffy and their pepperoni pizza is spot on, traditional and delicious. it had giant pieces of sausage, I love a good meat lovers pizza so this was fantastic. We also ordered some chicken wings which did disappoint a bit. We placed two orders and our order was still quite small, and the wings were very soggy and oily. They were probably microwaved and reheated, needless to say, it wasn't Their strongest item on the menu. Have you ever been to a new place and swear you've been there before? Well, ironically, Deja Vu isn't one of those places for me. Nope, never been here. Ever. It's not really a pizza place, more like a pizza stand with three tables and a counter. It's on 16th, and it looks to be a neighborhood hangout because people come in very casually and pick up their gigantic slices and off they go. Jamie W. and I came here looking for an alternative to the Sausage Factory in the Castro. Creatures of habit that we are, it was hard to find something within proximity that fit the bill. Deja Vu works in a pinch, but I wouldn't call it destination pizza for anybody outside of the Mission or the Castro. The cashier is very sweet, and there was nothing wrong withe the clientele. It just was regulation pizza with a whole lot of toppings. We went large and ordered the pricey $29.25 House Combo which was chock full of cheese, salami, ground beef, pepperoni (a must with Jamie), mushrooms, bell peppers, tomatoes, black olives, onions, and garlic (see photo). We secured the middle table and started demolishing it only to stop short at half the pie. Too many ingredients after all is said and done. Burp. PIZZA - 3 stars...a solid pie with lots of stuff on it AMBIANCE - 2 stars...well, not to be a total snob... I like their slices of pizza better than I like their whole pizza-their whole pizza is average. For example, If you order 1 slice of pizza you'll get an extra slice with that for the price of one-so a total of 2 slices of pizza. Great deal! Déjà vu I've been coming to this place LITERALLY for decades now. I love their pizza. I'm originally from New Jersey, so initially I had to adjust to their business model. The notion of making a SLICE from scratch, after I order it, was unfamiliar to me. The concept of waiting 15 minutes to get a slice took some adjusting. I'm much more familiar with the way they do things at The Pizza Shop on 24th and Folsom, also a good spot. But, once I realized the trick to Déjà Vu was calling ahead and ordering (Yes: calling ahead for ONE SLICE) I learned to stop worrying and love Déjà Vu. My friends in Brooklyn laugh at me when I tell them I'm buying slices for $5, $6 a slice. Déjà vu is not cheap. But, to be fair, the slices are Déjà Vu are like a slice-and-a-half of what you'd find at other pizza shops, and let's face it, NOTHING is cheap in San Francisco. (Well, maybe Banh Mi sandwiches are cheap, but that's about it. I mean, even burritos are costing $12-$14 bucks now. Remember when they used to be $5 - $6? I'm getting old.) Think of DV more as delicious fresh-baked bread with awesome toppings, as opposed to traditional pizza. I love their signature "Déjà Vu" slice, and I'm a huge fan of their regular slice with SAUSAGE. Their sausage is AMAZING. I cannot recommend it highly enough. I'd take their sausage over their pepperoni any day. As is the case with most pizza shops in SF, I wouldn't venture beyond the pizza. I would not rely on them for pasta dishes, "Buffalo wings," etc. Let's face it, we ain't on the east coast. But for really good, relatively affordable (as compared to say Delfina) fresh baked pizza, you can't go wrong with their slices. Oh, one more tip: stick with the slices. You'll do better with individual slices than you will with ordering an entire pie. I know, that sounds counter-intuitive, but trust me. The whole pies are disappointing, the individual slices are fantastic. I would not steer you wrong when it comes to pizza. read more

Deja vu gives me deja vu because it tastes like the meh italian food i used to eat as a student when I was drunk and it was late. So I'd say those rules probably still apply. If you're sober and it's early enough to eat somewhere else, you should eat somewhere else. But sometimes it's late and you're... well sometimes it might make more sense. I got a large half and half deep dish was charged a extra 7$ for it to be deep dished and I was given a sad disappointing pizza that came out to 40$. It's super greasy too much cheese and the pizza just fell apart, I grabbed one slice and the top fell right off? I'm very disappointed. I also contacted the establishment about the quality of this pizza and requested a refund (I only had one slice) and offered to bring the pizza to them to show them they said no.
