First off, everyone greeted me as I walked through the door, every station was clean, vibes were right, and music was great. Moments later, Manny introduced himself, got me setup in his chair, asked what I wanted, and got to work. The professionalism, cancer, and warm demeanor of not only Manny, but everyone in that shop, is part of the reason I keep coming back after a little over 3 years of fierce loyalty. Other reason I keep regularly scheduling cuts with Manny is because he's the genuine article and a savant with clippers. Plus, the guy is easy to talk to. When I asked if walk-ins were accepted, I was told if I could return the following day and was simply turned away with a "sorry." I needed the service that day otherwise, I would have waited and gone to my regular barbershop. I chose this place based on proximity and Yelp ratings, but there was no real flexibility when it came to walk-ins. As a local resident, I decided to try a new shop closer to home. By 3 PM, all three barbers were already booked. While it's great for the business to be fully scheduled suggesting they must provide excellent cuts it was disappointing to be turned away at the time I arrived. Wishing them well in the future.

In all my times of walking through second street, I walked by this place many times and finally thought it time for me to go in for a tryout. I decided to schedule an appointment for a beard trim, and got linked up with Tatianna(sp?). It was a busy day at the barber sharp. All six seats were in use, which i had never seen before, but it was a delight and a good sign of things to come. Tatianna took me on time and checked out a photo on how i wanted my beard to look. She used some very technical skills and lined up my hair with my beard. It was already an impressive outlook and the process just got started. Tatianna was light with the use of her clippers and tools, making me look pretty damn good. All the elements of a shave took place during my appointment and the results were excellent. They definitely set the bar for a place to rely on them to make me look sharp in a couple months. Many thanks to Tatianna and the boys at AVB for squeezing me into their busy lineup of clients. Back to the haircuts--Zoe is always professional and cares what your hair looks like before walking out of her shop. She is very detail-oriented and meticulous--I always feel so much better after getting a cut from Zoe, or anyone from the shop. Out of loyalty I go to Zoe since she was the first person I went to, but she is completely supportive when I go to the other Barbers in her shop when in a bind for a cut. The cooler part is there have been multiple times strangers on the street compliment my haircuts. Just yesterday another stranger reached out and said "whomever did your fade did an excellent job!". Even had a couple of friends go here recently. Highly recommended if you're looking for a new longtime hair expert, I even trust Zoe enough to decide what haircut go with when I'm feeling like trying something new. What has been even cooler is seeing Zoe share her expertise with the other Barbers and even train an apprentice about her techniques. Super fun to watch and experience Zoe share her knowledge with others. I love going here and highly recommend this place for hair care.

Disappointing first experience…read more I booked my first appointment with Karla, who did an okay job. I was a few minutes late because I had trouble finding parking, which I take responsibility for. Karla called to confirm I was still coming, and I confirmed, explained, and apologized. When I arrived, I apologized again. Instead of simply acknowledging my lateness and without even saying hello, Zoe immediately lectured me in front of everyone about the salon's 10-minute grace period. Her condescending comment that there was "a spot right in front" was especially unnecessary, as it was a 24-minute parking space, not a reasonable option for a haircut, and I certainly don't want the parking ticket. I understand being 15 minutes late is inconvenient (that's on me), but kindness and professionalism go a long way, especially in the service industry. Unfortunately, the atrocious customer service and poor attitude made this a very disappointing first experience. I won't be booking again, and based on the other reviews, I am not the only one.

This review is for Rizza, who did Grey Hair blending for me…read more I'm coming to terms with my gray/silver hairs and asked Rizza if she could do Grey blending for me. This can be hard to do, especially since I have ethnic hair and about a decade of vivids, henna color, and other experiments in my hair. I came in with blue and purple fun hair. This is my hair after two sessions and she's done a great job delivering on Grey blending. She found an ashy beige that would work with blending in with my silvers. She really understands color. Rizza also has very chill energy and listens to your requests. I also needed to handle personal medical stuff during my appointment and she was very helpful about it.

To start, I did a walk-in and Kim was nice enough to fit me in her schedule. To top it off, the quality of the haircut and blowdry is HIGH- she really took her time with the cut and was even giving me advice a long the way since my hair is on the thinner end. The full thing included a hair wash, a free hair treatment, wet cut, brow dry styling, and small finishing dry cuts. It was roughly 40-50 minutes but the quality shows. My hair is insanely silky and I keep getting compliments. I WILL be coming back!!
