Avoid this company if possible. My homeowners insurance used them to do a tear out and mitigation of damage caused by a leaky roof. Communication was lacking and they damaged multiple items in the bathroom. One of the items that they broke was a toilet that they said they would repair / replace. Its been months and I have repeatedly called them for an update or for my next steps.. They are effectively ghosting me. I purchased and replaced the toilet myself. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Whatever good reviews you see, were under old ownership. The new owner, Levi Borsca, is an insurance scammer and should be investigated and arrested as far as I'm concerned. My insurance adjuster is the one who sent them to my house as one of their "preferred providers," but even she made a comment that she "wasn't sure about the new ownership." There was only one guy/kid who ever came out, Daniel. Daniel was the assessor, the measurer, the packer, mover, the cabinet remover... Yet, I had to explain to him what cork flooring was... he had no idea. He also believed he was qualified to set up containment and remove asbestos in my home, which is strictly to be done by a legitimate abatement company, which ServiceMaster (SM) is not. He was actually caught by the legit company, and Daniel and SM were fired on the spot. But because he had the A/C on while he did this, we have been out of our house going on 8 months now, and in a legal battle to get them to ensure my home is safe before we can move back in. It's been an absolute nightmare! There have just been so many lies and broken promises made by this company and just straight up shady stuff. Like when I would pay for something, they told me to give them the receipt to submit to insurance, when obviously I could do that myself. They kept insisting that I allow them to do the pack out of my kitchen, even though I told them I preferred doing it myself as I needed to make sure I had access to certain things. Then they told me my things were to be stored in a POD in my driveway, but when they came, (and two days after they said they would), there was no POD. They said they were taking my stuff to a "local storage unit" and that I would be given a code or key to have access. When I questioned them for it, they said "I can't have access to it till everything is done." It's as if they were holding my stuff hostage, trying to get me to agree to let them finish the job... AS IF!! To this day, they cannot produce a storage receipt. It is my sincere belief, that my stuff was in someone's garage or just kept in the truck while they were billing the insurance for "storage unit" fees. Every job that should be done by someone more qualified, they did themselves, but were probably billing insurance as if the qualified people were actually doing it! Then after the screw up with the asbestos, stupid me did not move the key I had hidden for them, and my neighbors actually witnessed them going into my home, AFTER BEING FIRED, removing drywall (evidence), not bagged or contained, and throwing it into the back of their truck. When I told Levi that we were hiring a public adjuster to look into his wrongdoing, he produced a report a week later - suspiciously ordered by another company he owns - that could clear him of wrong-doing. No one, not even insurance had even heard of this company before, and insurance is supposed to approve everything first. And apparently, my insurance is standing behind this suspicious report, (which only tested for what could clear SM, not all the other standard elements that would normally be tested for), which I can't understand. So here's another bit of warning... don't use Farmer's insurance either!! read more

ServiceMaster did a fantastic job on my carpet. They explained the soils in my client's carpet and they pay close attention to the type of carpet they are working with so they don't damage it with the wrong type of detergent or cleaning agent. Makes sense to me! They even pointed out how the last people we used may have damaged the rug they cleaned because it turned yellow due to using the wrong detergent. Too late to fix but I know now for the future. Great job, I'll use them again! read more

My dishwasher drain hose exploded, resulting in water mold damage to our kitchen and family room. This master magician made the problem go away. Now I call for many of their services because I have a tornado of a toddler. I just can not make the house sparkle like Service Master. read more

The Napa ServiceMaster crew were professional, efficient and made sure my family's home was restored to better than before the smoke damage. They made sure that my family was comfortable and back in our home very quickly. We have used Lynn and her staff on two occasions and both were perfectly smooth sailing. . We would not use any other restoration company ever. We had no idea that we would need them a second time, but I kept their number in my contacts -- and when another circumstance arose, they remembered us and we're as professional the second time as they were the first time. We experienced such a mixed bag of irritating practices and helpful extras, that we were left scratching our heads. While we were out of town, our cat walked across the stove control board, activating the self-clean mode. Inside the oven was a pan with a wooden handle. The resulting slow-burn filled the house with smoke. We called ServiceMaster to help eliminate the smell from the air. They provided an air scrubbing device, which worked well, but the billing policies told to us by the office differed from the practices of the field technician. We had to put them on speakerphone together to get the issue resolved. (The office said that the original trip charge would be rolled into the cost of overnight rental of the equipment, but the field rep wanted to charge us a trip charge plus rental.) After agreeing to pay the new amount, the field tech then sprang on us an additional fee to pick up the unit the next day, something that was not mentioned in the original price quote or at any other time during the whole process. Rather than going through another hassle, we paid the extra fee. Their lack of clarity up front, plus their hidden fees, could be seen as practices bordering on scamming. When the equipment was picked up the next day, that field tech (a different one) pointed out our dirty heater filter, which we knew about, but have never been able to figure out how to remove. He showed us how to remove it, and did not charge us anything more for the very helpful service. The second field tech changed my review from a 2 to a 3-star. So we are left scratching our heads in puzzlement. Would we use them again? Maybe, but only if we can get a clear price quote up front and in writing, including any possible extra hidden fees. Also be warned that they do not accept credit cards, but cash and checks only. read more

I had a pipe leak under my kitchen sink which caused damage and mold to my kitchen and family room. ServiceMaster responded and came up with a plan to get my home back together. Tom and John from ServiceMaster have been so awesome and have made the whole ordeal very smooth for us. They are courteous and knowledgeable and above else, they totally clean up after themselves and leave us no mess at all. They work directly with my insurance which is an added benefit! We had Service Master at our home this week to both stretch and clean our carpets. We were referred to them by two business acquaintances. We could not have been more pleased with the job they did. They came and gave us an estimate. The estimate was fair and reasonable. They arrived on time and both the employees were professional, polite, considerate and most importantly... did a great job. A neighbor's water pipe recently broke in her town home and flooded both her home and mine while both of us were out of town. Service Master was on the job quickly and Eric, the service technician, worked diligently to clean up the water and save my saturated walls. Because I work out of town, Eric worked in my home for 4 days and kept in contact with me to let me know how the clean up was going. He also went above and beyond in my opinion and explained the insurance process to me as this was my first-ever home owners insurance claim. He helped me understand the process and while I will need to replace all of my downstairs flooring, it was a a joy to work with such a professional and efficient company. Hopefully I will not need to have this type of work done again, but if I do, I will happily use Service Master again! I highly recommend this company! read more

This company did a very good job of cleaning up our water damage. There was only one problem. Their equipment failed after removing almost all of the water. Every drop of water that was removed by the dehumidifier was released onto our living room floor which meant they had to leave the equipment for an extra day. That would not have been a problem for me if they had not made me pay for the extra day but they did. They told me the equipment had to stay another day because we had turned it off. Well, we turned it off because we were told to turn it off when we called to tell them the equipment failed. Well guess what...they had no record of us calling and they refused to decrease the amount of the bill by the amount that extra day cost us. My suggestion, if you use this company take detailed notes of whatever happens during the process. Also, their technician put a fan by my hot water heater in my garage causing the pilot to go out resulting in my home being filled with toxic gas and forcing me to have to call the fire department and PG&E. When I called to tell "Terrie" that we would forward any bills to them that we may incur as a result of their negligence, she cut me off telling me she could "see where this is going." Bottom line if you're willing to pay the bill with no questions asked you should be okay with this company. read more
