The place is about as adorable as it gets - without feeling kitschy. Each room is it's own little "cabin" and it feels as private as it can be - unlike a hotel. There's a free continental breakfast every morning and a sign up sheet for the next morning's hot breakfast (paid). As nervous as I was, the bed was comfortable and the room clean but still homey. The heating system worked perfectly, and we were totally comfortable even though one night was the first frost of the season! Everything about this place was charming and cozy. The only - ONLY - drawback I noticed (which wasn't even relevant to me since I'm still injured) was that it's not in a running-friendly location (no sidewalks just not highway but not regular road) and you'd have to drive a little to find a place to go. Downtown is freaking adorable and only like two miles away, so it's not too bad. I would go back in a heartbeat - and might have to make a trip in the summer to enjoy the back patio each room had! To start, our room was immaculate; upon entering our room, we were greeted with homemade shortbread cookies and flower petals on our bed to commemorate our fifth anniversary. Our room was perfectly clean and the bed was beyond comfortable. There were just so many little things that the inn had thought of- from Diptique toiletries to the most comfortable bathrobes laid out for us. After arriving, we spent the day meandering around the quaint town of Weston. Once the evening arrived, we arrived at the amazing Left Bank. The front desk helped us organize our reservation. One of the most enjoyable parts of our evening was finding out that the restaurant has their own sommelier to help us find the right wine! We had a cheese platter to start, steak frites, as well as ice cream and chocolate mousse for dessert. It was all divine! Once the evening winded down, the inn had everything to make us have a nice, relaxing, evening. We sat by the fire outside for some time and enjoyed the tranquility of the Weston. The next day, we were greeted with homemade blueberry muffins and coffee. We also stoped by their bakery, where they had a plethora of delicious breakfast and lunch options, such as farro salad and homemade rotisserie chicken. We are so sad to leave the Weston and will definitely be back soon. The highlight of our stay was: the amazing staff, impeccable attention to detail, delicious food, and the quaint town of Weston. They were there when I needed them, but also gave the perfect amount of space and distance, even for an inn as quaint as this one. The location is very ideal, it's only a short walk (which I did twice) to the Vermont Country Store, and even though they're closed, it's just few more steps to the Playhouse and Theater Company. I'm a sucker for beautiful Millwork, and the room I stayed in was built so perfectly it felt like it was handcrafted. I'm attaching 2 pictures to show how detailed it was, and with all that detail there's an extra layer of soundproofing which is excellent because I was working remotely during the day. Along with that, the wifi was very fast and had no lags for video calls. From there, it's shut laptop, head downstairs to The Left Bank for a meal and a drink.

You are familiar with the phrase "put lipstick on a pig?" Sometimes you end up with a beautiful…read morepig, actually. Such is the case with the Brittany, which is an old-school 10-room motor lodge of the type that used to be operated as a Ma-and-Pa business by owners who lived above the office and did all the work themselves. Many of these hotels have disappeared, most that remain are of somewhat questionable quality. Not so the Brittany: it has been reasonably spruced up and operated on a streamlined basis, such that (seriously, to my surprise) I had a better two-day stay than I had at the last two Hampton Inns I've stayed at. As noted, this is a self-service motel (it's so lo-fi, I'm tempted to call it a lo-tel) where you get a text with your room code and number and you let yourself in. The rooms are basic but comfortable (this may be the only hotel I've ever stayed at that didn't have "hotel art" on the walls, which was honestly kind of a pleasant change of pace). There is a breakfast room of sorts -- "The Gathering Place" -- which is a converted former room that has a cold a la carte self-serve selection of things. (The hotel is refreshed mysteriously while guests are out and about; I was up at 5 AM and the coffee, according to the machine, had been made nine minutes earlier, but I never even saw an extra car in the parking lot. Stealthy!) I wish the Gathering Place had been open a bit later than it was, as I wanted to play one of the games I had spotted at breakfast, but using Elf labor probably requires they lock it up a bit earlier. Similarly, there's a nice fire pit with a mountain view and adirondack chairs out front, but it's a mystery as to how one might use the fire pit without logs and such available. (BYO Duraflame?) The setting is quite peaceful, and while I could hear stirrings from the room adjacent -- there's only so much you can do with old construction to soundproof it -- the other occupants were quite quiet. Around you is a whole lot of nothing, although it's just a few minutes south of Manchester center, so getting provisions is easy. No microwaves in the rooms, but there's a mini-fridge, stocked with some complimentary water. The TV was also the tiniest screen I've seen in a room since CRT TVs went by the wayside, but all I wanted to watch was the Red Sox game, and they had NESN, so I soldiered on. There are a few other nits I could pick, but the old-school full-sized bathtub was a pleasant surprise and a big upgrade over all the identical awful shower-only bathrooms in almost every hotel around these days, so I will gloss over those nits. One particular kudos on the amenities: there was herb tea with the self-serve coffee! THANK YOU! It's appreciated by those of us who like a nice tisane before going to sleep. So this isn't a five-star hotel like the Four Seasons, but it's a five star motel within its class - decent value for the money, well-operated, quiet. The quiet part is all I really want from a hotel stay (that and having a door that locks correctly) and the lovely surroundings and the very very low key breakfast were big plusses.

You pull in at a motel that fronts the highway - the sign reads "The Pointe at Castle Hill". Regardless of which property you stay at, you check in there. Afterwards, you proceed up the hill to the inn. You park either just in front of the building or, if the spaces are full, there is a bit more space to the side of another building close by (probably their spa). We never heard any traffic noise during our entire stay. The building itself is about 120 years old, built by a former Vermont governor from this area. It still has the feel of a mansion, with lots of dark wood finishes inside. They have a small desk in the large foyer when you enter who can assist as needed. There is also a lounge with couches and chairs (for reading, mostly). The restaurant is also located on this level. The wide staircase to the upper floors is to the left off the foyer. The 2nd floor had at least 9 rooms. Down the hallway there was another smaller staircase up to the 3rd level, which I think had fewer rooms (I did not go up there). Our room was nice, with a queen sized 4-poster bed (you might enquire if they have a room with a king-sized bed). There was plenty of additional floor space, with a small table and chairs near the front windows. There are a number of relatively subtle upgrade touches like the phone line and water pipes for the adjoining bathrooms. A few things we noted about our room: * It had limited electrical outlets, which was addressed via power strips for each of the main plugs. * There is no central air conditioning, which is probably fine for this latitude (barring some heat wave). You can open the windows for a breeze, as needed. * The heating is central and is not turned on until some point in the season when it turns sufficiently cold. They do offer a space heater in the room (if needed), there is a fireplace (we didn't use ours), and the comforter was quite warm. * The amount of counter and table space available was limited (due to the small antique table). This wasn't a huge issue, but you have to be mindful of where to leave things like a wallet, glasses, phone, etc. You can book a massage at the spa, but we did not make use of that service. The hotel's fine dining restaurant is a great option for a special occasion meal. You should book this in advance (I'm not what is a safe time - at least a month or two, I'd guess). On the night we ate there, we had a formal oval dining room for the home to ourselves for half of our meal, as the larger dining room across the hall was full from a tour bus. The food was very good! They also apparently serve a modest breakfast here in the mornings starting at 8 a.m., but we were trying to get an early start each day and ended up getting breakfast in Ludlow instead. Given the somewhat isolated location, your dining options outside the hotel are a bit limited. There is at least one restaurant in Proctorsville (within 0.5 miles). There are a few restaurants in Ludlow, but many have varying days on which they're closed during weekdays. It may be easier on weekend, and is almost certainly easier in the winter, as there is a ski resort adjacent to the town. Also, Ludlow apparently suffered flooding in July of 2023, so that appeared to have impacted the number of businesses / restaurants that were open downtown (at least temporarily). Another observation about location - on the two full days we had in the area, we drove 45+ minutes to the north both days to check out a variety of places near Windsor and Lebanon. That wasn't a problem, but if I had the same itinerary again, I might have stayed one night at Castle Hill (and dined at their restaurant) and then moved on to lodging closer to other things we were touring. If you are going for a cozy / romantic country inn vibe, this is a great place to stay. There are just some trade offs vs. the location. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here.

We used the spa and it was okay. The gym is large and well equipped. I had a massage which was okay. The room I was in had a window which faced the road and the traffic noise was louder than the spa music that was playing so didn't lend itself to relaxing. The massage was over $200 so I didn't think it was a great value because I didn't really feel fully relaxed after it. Ask for a treatment room on the pool side of the building if possible. We ate at the restaurant and it was pretty good. Prices were high but seemed to be about on par with another meal we had in the area. Service was nice. Our room was okay...very spacious but the lack of outlets is tough to manage in 2025 with so many devices to charge. I understand the building is very old so I get that there aren't a lot of plugs. My Verizon connectivity was terrible in the whole area and due to a wide-scale outage, Wifi was not working when I was there, which was problematic because I had to take a business call. That and a couple of other issues with our room led to us leaving early to find someplace that had a working Wifi connection but I have to say the staff were helpful and understanding. It was the off season and I think maybe they were a little short staffed but I get that it's tough for businesses these days. Overall, this place was fine and it is very beautiful.

I guess under our tax laws it finally had to turn a profit of at least a dollar so they slapped together this space and put fries and a sandwich as their menu. Getting there proved a bit challenging when Google Maps routed us on State Route 121 which has some unpaved sections; luckily going back was easier using Route 35 to Route 11. Arriving at Grafton the first impression was of a classic New England Inn with a welcoming glow on a cold winter night. Entering through the B&B lobby had a great warm and comfortable feeling. The feeling of history is reflected in sign over the front desk showing the many prominent guests who have stayed over the years. The restaurant is classy, burgundy-colored walls with white trim and classic fixtures; a wonderful upscale dining room without being stuffy. They even had live music with a guitarist playing soft rock. Our server was very nice, professional and attentive. The menu combines classics and some interesting touches, I ordered the Bouillabaisse and my friend ordered the Caesar Salad and Chicken Wings. Our food came out quickly. The Caesar salad was huge, the wings were tasty and a generous portion. My Bouillabaisse was excellent a nice tomato and fennel broth loaded expertly prepared scallops, shrimp, mussels and a large fish fillet. The highlight were the large sweet perfectly seared scallops, but all of the seafood were delicious. For me this was a Pescetarian dream dish. We were persuaded to order dessert my friend got the Apple Pie and I got the Skillet Chocolate Chip Cookie topped with vanilla ice cream. Both desserts were sweet and satisfying, a great way to end a wonderful meal. I would strongly recommend having dinner at the Grafton Inn, the food, service and atmosphere are great, prices are reasonable for what you get. This was a perfect way to top off our ski trip with a superior culinary experience.

It dates back to 1801- and has old world charm with some nice updates as well. We attended a wedding here- but were able to check out the food from the Phelps Barn Pub- excellent!- and had a delightful breakfast at the Inn. The breakfast was a buffet with eggs, pancakes, French toast, biscuits and sausage gravy, bacon, sausage, fruit and more. Yummy! The rooms and the rest of the Inn have a historic feel. But they provide good WiFi throughout to keep you connected. The bed was a king- I slept like a baby! We will have to come back to check out more of the facility. It is close to the ski areas of Magic Mountain and Bromley. Great service by all the front desk and servers too. Highly recommended!
