I made reservations for a party of 20 for my birthday dinner ahead of time and was seated quickly. The servers were quick with bringing us our menus, waters, and taking drink orders. For such a large party, our server did an amazing job. Our dinners came out fairly quickly and no mistakes were made. The food was good and the perfect portion amount. I ordered the Linguine della Paranza and recommend it if you enjoy seafood pasta dishes. My party was in and out of there in under an hour and a half. We were impressed with how prompt the service was. Our waitress was great. Yum! Homemade pasta on some of the dishes and great service. We had a party of 7 which can be trying for even the best of servers, however ours did. It disappoint. I have never felt so lied to and gyped-- and treated so fraudulently by a restaurant ANYWHERE. I have been to this place many times but never had an experience as bad as I had this evening. I took a party of 4 to Sette for dinner. Outside is a sign and I will write it exactly as it was written. Happy Hour 4-7 Daily 4-10 Sun & Mon PATIO HAPPY HOUR 4-6 wine, beer & cocktails $5 15 small plates & more $5 We arrived and were seated at 5:30-- no server could be found for 15 minutes, we promptly ordered 4 coctkails from the "approved patio list" -- so the server told us- and appetizers from the small plates. We later ordered main courses. When the bill came, I pointed out that the prices charged did not match what the sign said out front. We were told by the manager that the prices for the bar and the patio were different and we were charged the patio prices. The manager could not have been ruder and the server lied to her when asked what prices he told us were to be served on the patio. Though I put up a fight, the manager said we should have known the the bar prices were different from the patio prices, and even after I showed her a photo of the sign out front, and her telling me that the sign is not accurate, she would do nothing. DON'T GO TO THIS RESTAURANT THAT LIES TO ITS CUSTOMERS TO GET THEM INSIDE AND THEN LIES ABOUT WHAT THE SIGN CLEARLY REPRESENTS. I CALL IT FRAUD! WHAT A RACKET THESE OWNERS ARE RUNNING! wow. how is it possible that bertucci's has a higher rating than this place? no way bertucci's beats this place, unless you like your pizza un-italian! i, for one, like my pizza and other italian foods to be as italian as possible. this is one of the better places in dc for that. i eat here quite frequently (often with italian friends who come several times a week). i usually order charcuterie, as well as pasta or pizza, and it's always delicious. pepita is a pizza fiend and loves the pizza here. the wood burning stove and fresh ingredients make it a worthy stop for those craving a great pizza. read more

So this was the only lunch spot that was still opened when we arrived at our hotel. The menu looked safe. Unfortunately when we arrived to sit at the bar, the bartender was just flat out rude. Welcome to DC ;)! Seriously, even my husband looked at me like what the heck. She left shortly after we arrived which makes me think her shift was ending, I have been there as a waitress and I would never have greeted customers the way she did regardless of timing. The rest of the experience was so/so but it was their slowest time of day if I had to guess. The drinks were good. The pizza was delicious, our pasta dishes were ok. Went here last night for a friends birthday dinner and had a wonderful experience! The food was amazing, the wine was excellent, and the service was on point. Hamza was our server and he was so patient with our roudy birthday group and was kind enough to take the time to split our check like 8 different ways - I used to work in restaurants so I know how much of a pain in the ass that can be. And for all the amazingness the prices were very reasonable! I will be turning this place into a frequent dinner spot! I had the pumpkin ravioli and it was divine! My boyfriend had the Vongole and that was also quite tasty. He has traveled a lot and said that it was the best he had every had - for a kid that grew up in France that is saying something! read more

The most unbelievable wood fire pizza on the east coast. The pastas were aldente. The chicken milanese was fried to perfection. The drinks stayed filled with wine. I came here for brunch recently and it was so good. I got the capellini pomodoro because I'm not a huge breakfast food person, and it was delicious. We also loved that it was kid friendly and the menu had both offerings for adults and kids, and it was expansive. Deducting one star for the male host who was a bit unwelcoming. When we asked to sit outside he was obviously annoyed, not sure why. And he just had an attitude that soured our initial experience. I really like the food, but it is undercut by the confused service, lack of hands on customer service. For the price, you should get really good service, with attentive wait staff. And right next to one of the only other patrons in the establishment on a Monday? At 1PM? It's not like there were dozens of people waiting. Even a table or two between our party and the other guests would have been welcome. A yes for Date night. My boyfriend and I went there to celebrate his birthday. We were seated immediately, it was a Sunday night. The waitress was friendly. She made a good recommendation for both food and wine. The wine went well with our meals. The soup of the day was very good. We both could only eat half of our meals due to being so full. We both had our food wrapped up. I had the pork ragu gnocci and my boyfriend had the steak. Both meals were wonderful. The many TV's in the place were my only issue. I live just over a block away on S Street and had seem that this restaurant was moving (I thought) from its location at Connecticut and R to 14th and R. But now, I understand that it is a second location. Be sure to not the location in reviews and making reservations! Thought it was interesting that it is replacing anther Italian restaurant that lasted less than a year in this spot. Happened to notice in the morning of the 14th that they were having their official opening that evening and that everything would be half price--how could we resist. Went to Open Table and found great availability for the early evening time I wanted. I was hoping that this restaurant wouldn't be the shout-at-the-top-of-your-lungs just to be heard across the table like the other restaurants nearby. Well, when we walked in it was at least as bad in the front room with a packed raucous of millennials at happy hour. Thankfully, we were led to the back room, where although not silent, you could probably easily talk to those who weren't sitting right next to you. Of course if the crowd in this room gets raucous, that would be less so. There was one twenty-something that had a fog horn of a voice. Fortunately others in her group arrived and they helped minimized her part in the conversation and a return to a pleasant experience. The back room might sometimes be used for private parties. If I can't be seated in the back room, I won't be at this restaurant. The noise is why I don't patronize most of the other restaurants in the neighborhood which seem to be so proud of their "buzz." We had calarmari with deep fried zucchini strips. If you want the clamari, get it with the zucchini. The portion was quite large, easily enough for three or four to share. We also got the grilled Italian sausage with sauteed broccoli rabe and Dijon aioli. This was two flat, six inch long trips. Good for two to share. The broccoli rabe was a nice contrast and the Dijon aioli was great. Next time I'd ask for that with the calamari rather than the good but normal spicy tomato dipping sauce. I had the grilled skirt steak which had a slight char on the outside but still rare on the inside--as I like it. I replaced the French fries with broccoli rabe to keep the carbs down. It was very good but couldn't finish it all after all the calamari and a nice Italian beer. My husband had the veal picatta with sautéed spinach and rosemary roasted potatoes. The veal was tender and had a nice zing. The veges were good but the potatoes, to his taste, could have had a bit more rosemary. That might not be true for many others. When the entrees arrived, we ordered two glasses of wine from the server. I think she forgot. When others were being seated nearby, we reordered from that attendant. It still seemed to take five minutes and we were easily half way through our main course. Maybe we will be sure to order wine by the glass earlier. Enjoyed a nice dinner here on a Saturday night. Got a nice table for two and was quickly brought water and bread. We did not get appetizers. My husband got an Italian beer (bottled) and said it was a little warm. I ordered the evening special - sea bass with seasonal vegetables. It was served as the entire fish (head and all) which was fine by me but some might be thrown off. It was very tasty and minimally seasoned which I appreciated. My husband ordered a basic Italian essential - chicken Parmesan - and cleaned his plate! We shared some vanilla gelato for dessert. The service was great in a nice atmosphere. Reason for 4 stars not five: we weren't blown away by anything. It was good but not great and not bad. Would we go back? Yes. There is no reason not to go back! read more

We had a delicious meal at Sette. All four of us are vegetarian and there were many choices. It was exciting to see some creative pasta preparations that were vegetarian and we didn't have to ask for any substitutions. There was even a "special" that night that was a fabulous vegetarian entree. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. All our food came out timely and very hot. It did not sit under heat lamps. Everything was very fresh. The prices were reasonable and the portions were just right. We took advantage of the options on the wine list of 'by the glass, half-carafe, bottle', etc. The ambience was warm, lively, and fun. We did not sit outside as it was too cool for us, even with the heat lamps. However, since we enjoy sitting and eating outside, we plan to do so in the spring.
