This restaurant is just okay. The food is fine. They don't have anything specialty. Standard past and sauce combos and they allow you to add a protein. The service is strange. They are very no fuss. Given that a lot of the restaurants on 14th street in DC have great service it's a shocking contrast. They don't try to make exceptions or make patrons feel special. I went in with a group of three and the waitress brought out our checks already split without asking - I was with my significant other so that was a strange choice. My friends and I went to sette on a Sunday at 5:55 pm, and the menu online says that happy hour is from 4 pm to 10 pm. We didn't get service for 15 mins after getting seated, and then the waitress sent the manager Sandra over to inform us they wouldn't honor happy hour. She was extremely rude, told us we sat down after 6 which was completely false, and overall ruined our entire experience. We got up and left after we felt completely disrespected by the manager. I have attached the most up to date menu that is posted on their website that they did not honor. They have just lost a customer who lives 1 block away and has loved sette for years. This is wildly disappointing. The least they could have done is honor 1 round since we were seated before 6pm. read more

I honestly would give this place 4 stars but the unfriendly service is the reason I won't. When my group arrived, the waitress asked us why we were sitting at the table the hostess had allowed us to sit at. She was rude to my group the rest of the time, despite us being very polite and relatively low-maintenance. I understand working as a server can be hard and frustrating, but customer service is a large part of the dining experience. The food was pretty good and reasonably priced. The bread basket was delicious and large, so it was definitely worth the $5 price tag. It also looks like they have a great happy hour. The ambiance was fine, but the issue was the restaurant was super hot. I think that might have to do with the pizza oven, but we were sweating the entire time. They have tons to choose from in terms of brunch essentials and three different options for bottomless (mimosa, cider, and peach Bellini). Company dinner to celebrate their successes. On a Wednesday night at 6pm, it was dead. There was one gentleman at the bar and our party of 10. We were sat and while we waited for the last 3 of our party to join us, the rest of us enjoyed the fresh baked bread, the appetizers and conversation over our drinks. When the rest of the folks arrived, we placed our orders. The service was absolutely amazing. They totally doted on us from the moment we arrived until we left, and the food! let me tell you, I ordered the Chicken parmesan and when it came to the table I was gobsmacked. The entree was literally the size of three hands! That's a Big entree, and it was SO tasty too. Served with brocolini and fingerling potatoes (What is it with DC And Brocolini?) The sauce was amazing as was the texture and flavour of my entree. No, I didn't eat the whole thing. Only about a third. I visited this location of Sette Osteria for the first time last week after having brunch twice at the DuPont Circle spot. I had high hopes and they delivered! A friend and I took advantage of the happy hour specials which included a modest but good selection of beers, wine, sangria, and cocktails, along with small plates, flatbreads, and pizzas. The Caesar salad was served with a rich, creamy dressing and topped with fresh Parmesan cheese. My friend had the calamari and reported that it was crispy and delicious. We shared a generously sized prosciutto flatbread and we were provided with crushed red pepper and some fresh Parmesan cheese. The flatbread was great- not too salty and the dough was crisp and not too chewy. The oven was situated right at the bar and it was fun watching the baker diligently making the pizzas, flat breads, and bread. We also ordered the pumpkin tortellini, also fantastic! It was savory, sweet, just wish we got two orders instead of the one! (We received three large ravioli; they were so good we wanted more!). We finished the night off with a huge portion of tiramisu. It was served with a blueberry drizzle which complimented the flavors immensely. I found myself practically licking the spoon after each bite! The service was a little bit slow, possibly because the bartender had double duty and had to run drinks out to other patrons. Not a problem though, we ate, drank, and were quite merry! Overall, this was a great option for happy hour and a casual dinner. The food was absolutely fantastic, the drinks were quality, and the price couldn't be beat. We received terrible service at brunch. We waited for at least half an hour a server to talk to us, let alone take our order. They never even asked if we wanted something to drink. Eventually after we asked a server came to talk to us--but only after she started helping a large group that came in 20 minutes after us. She wasn't the least bit apologetic either. Then when we go to order, she tells us that the pizza oven isnt on so they can't make flat bread (or pizza presumably--youd think a pizza restaurant would mention this up front!). This is actually the second time we've been here when the oven wasn't on. I've now been here three times. The first was great for dinner, but brunch has been a disaster. The pizza oven doesn't seem to ever work and the service this last time was among the worst I've ever experienced. The burrata was extremely watery; avoid it at all costs. The beet salad was decent, and my friends' pasta was quite good. The lentil soup was the most delicious, and my favorite dish of the night. I don't think I've ever been displeased with the food or the service--the servers and bartenders are super friendly, and everything is delicious. There's also just something really pleasant about sitting in front of the pizza oven on chilly evenings. Personally, I would recommend the gnocchi, the calamari, and the prosciutto flatbread. The service is always really nice and staff is usually super attentive and friendly. Really beautiful inside and has a slight elegance to it but not at all in a pretentious way. The energy is chill and friendly. I enjoy that a lot. I usually get a nice white wine and the Carbonara and calzone. So incredible. Really flavorful and tasty. I appreciate the work it feels like they really put into these dishes. Everything tastes magnificent and complete. I of course finish it all off with a nice plate of nutella bites. SO HEAVENLY. I was pleasantly surprised by the no-fuss brunch I had here this past Saturday. There was no wait, so I was worried Sette wasn't good for brunch. Thankfully, my assumption was wrong! Our server got to us quickly and generously kept filling out bottomless mimosas - we didn't have to ask for a thing this entire meal! Apple cider mimosas hit the spot. Had a Saturday brunch with a large party (~10 people) and Sette Osteria was easily able to accommodate our reservations. $15 for a two hour all you can drink with choice of mimosa, apple cider, or Bellini. I was afraid they'd all be too sweet but the cider was actually crisp and delicious. I also started with a Bloody Mary but that wasn't anything to write home about.. For the food, we had the bread basket to start (warm and delicious) and I ordered the breakfast pizza for my entree. Large size and very tasty. We ended up getting the Nutella bread bites to go, which is essentially their bread basket covered in Nutella. Large shoutout to our server- she made the whole thing super enjoyable. She was working several other tables yet our glasses were never empty. Empty water glass (or other beverages for that matter) are a big issue for me but that was never the case. I was excited to try the apple cider mimosa but it just tasted like champagne. I had the smoked salmon and capers with cream cheese on a bagel. I was weary because everyone said it tasted not fresh in the reviews. It was so good and fresh! We had an order of nutella bites for free with a yelp check in which were nice to counter act the mimosas lol. We sat outside on the sidewalk and enjoyed the passers. The red sangria is to die for (pretty strong) and the fried zucchini is fantastic (Tip: if you order the fried calamari, it comes with a few pieces of fried zucchini too). Lightly coated and fried, plus the marinara sauce on the side it's delicious. Highly recommend getting the house bread too (they bring out fresh Parmesan and red chili flakes to add to the oil on the table) Also recommend the flatbread. We had the organic chicken with sun-dried tomato and it was delicious (and very large for $6). Underseasoned, but they include salt, pepper and red chili flakes at the table, so it's all good. As nothing caught our eyes at the Farmer's Market, my friend and I decided to check out one of the many different brunch restaurants around, and went for Sette Osteria, a peaceful Italian cafe on the corner, perfect for people-watching. Their food is indeed pretty, and during brunch time, gives the food a delicious glow. But overall, the food was okay. We got the Sette Brunch Tart (veggies in a tart and eggs) and the Eggs Benedict (Eggs on English muffin with potatoes). The potatoes were a little dry, and I found myself drowning them in ketchup. Such a great expierence! Wait staff was amazing, our waitress and waitress in training were super helpful and gave good reccomendations. It was so hot out and one worker was so attentive making sure we never ran out of ice water. The bread basket was HUGE! Kind of like pieces of good pizza crust, really tasty and had a lot to take home. We got the Fettuccine Alfredo and Cavatelli all'Indiavolata and they were spectacular!
