Had breakfast there a few days ago because the Paupack Diner was closed for some unknown reason. Was expecting great things but was probably the worst breakfast I had in years. 2 eggs (overcooked) 2 slices of slimy greasy bacon and toast that wasn't even toasted ! just warm. For $16 you would think they could give a few slices of bacon. The toast is too thick to work with over easy eggs, but they didn't even give it time to toast. Never ever will I go back here. Amazing dinner with my sister. We sat outside on the deck. Great garden view. We started with the Squash blossom appetizer, which was very good. Then I had the onion soup which was good. My sister had the filet mignon which was cooked perfect. I had the Chicken which was also great. Our server was super friendly and professional. We opted out of dessert since we ate to much for dinner. This this the best restaurant hands down in the area. They gave us a tasing of salmon with some kind of ginger sauce. Amazing. My boyfriend and I stayed at the Inn for a belated birthday weekend. We had two breakfasts and dinner here, all were amazing. Breakfasts were included in our stay. For breakfast day 1 I ordered the omelette with Brussels sprouts, Swiss, caramelized onion and bacon. So good. My boyfriend got the country breakfast with bacon. We got coffee and juice. The coffee was great. Definitely skip the room coffee and get coffee at the restaurant. For breakfast day 2 my boyfriend got the country breakfast with sausage. I got the oatmeal with a side of fruit and bacon. The oatmeal had a mix of grains in it which made it interesting, with maple syrup, brown sugar and raisins for topping. I skipped the raisins and used my side of fruit as topping and it was *chefs kiss* Dinner was amazing. Not cheap but great for a special occasion and the food was delicious. We both started with cocktails. I got the honey blueberry cosmo and my boyfriend got the old fashioned with candied bacon -- honestly I liked the old fashioned better than the cosmo, and I don't typically like them. My boyfriend liked the cosmo, I regret not switching. We both also started with soup. I got the butternut squash soup, poured tableside. It literally tasted like fall. My boyfriend got the seafood chowder special that was so flavorful. Would recommend either. For dinner I got the miso blackened cod and my boyfriend got the coc au vin. Both were delicious-- all the flavors were so distinct and fresh. We skipped dessert because we were so full, but I got the French press coffee to close the night and it was so creamy and smooth. It was expensive for a cup of coffee-- but very good. All meals come with some sort of bread -- either a sweet quick bread with bfast or a fresh small loaf with dinner. The butter is whipped and flavored in-house and it's so delicious. So, if you made it to the end-- highly recommend if you're in the area. It's a great treat! I'll add that the hotel and restaurant is committed to sustainability-- everything from sourcing food from local farmers and vendors, to paying their staff a living wage-- you'll feel good about coming here. read more

It's a lovely space with tons of outdoor seating and super friendly staff. But when we went (around 9 pm), they were out of 2 entrees on their very short menu. If you have any food limitations whatsoever, that can make it really hard to find something possible to eat. I love a seasonal menu, and having few offerings means that what they do, they almost certainly do well! From the professional and very kind staff, to the rooms, the sheets, the all around cleanliness, the food, the grounds and everything else about the Settlers Inn. I have no real reason to return to the area but I'm trying to find one just to spend more time here. The dining room is beautiful - The Oatmeal is to die for and so is the coffee. The breakfast was truly top notch! I've traveled around the world and have never had anything come close to the breakfast here. The food was truly an amazing experience and so well Prepared. Compliments to the cooks! The bar area was beautiful. The wine list was expansive, wine tasting was a great treat! They really ace'd the hospitality business. Hats off to the management. Pretentious, but by and far not the best in the area. Can be okay, but they will treat you poorly if you don't have the right "look". The food is overpriced, but just ok. You can get better for the price in this area. Don't expect service to always be on point, they don't pay or treat their workers all that well. They do invest a lot into making everything look pretty, but not into a their people. We dined at Settlers Inn for our anniversary and they really went out of their way to make it a special evening for us. We were seated promptly. Our waitress wished us a happy anniversary and brought us champagne as a special treat. The food was fantastic. The crispy artichoke hearts were a standout. All of the staff members we spoke to were very nice and the restaurant is following all the COVID protocols (masking, sanitizing the tables, etc.). We felt very safe. Visiting the poconos in January during Covid feels like a ghost town, but this place was full and busy in comparison. Tuesday night was $10 burger and beer night, which we opted for and so did the kiddos. My wife and I also ordered the French onion soup, one of our fav's. The broth was flavorful, soup overall great. Burger came out shortly after.. good, nice charcoal flavor, fantastic brioche buns.. my medium was more well and dry, and my wife's medium spot-on. Cheese options included Swiss and cheddar. (My daughter a bit sad to hear no American) Our server was friendly and checked in as appropriate. My daughter mentioned to her early on that her birthday was yesterday... later, when she ordered ice cream it came out with a lit candle, and the whole pace sang happy birthday to her. So nice. Also the dessert was complimentary. Also nice. My chocolate mousse cake was unpleasant - doughy crust, lacked taste and... texture? Ice cream also tasted freezer burnt. Maybe check in with the pastry chef? All said.. the service was great and the food was between okay and good, and the ambiance and setting are cozy and welcoming. Our favorite restaurant in the area. Excellent food, drinks and events. When we want a special night out we trust the evening to Settlers Yet another fabulous meal at Settlers. Tonight's plate paradise was the ribeye for two. Perfect. The crispy lobster risotto was also amazing and of course the bar is spot on. Now, not all the menu items resonate but the choices are great and have always pleased. Dessert... for me needs something else. Wasn't into it tonight. I was very disappointed by my experience at the restaurant last night. I highly doubt I will ever go back or recommend it to friends. The Inn was decorated beautifully for Christmas but the atmosphere was very unwelcoming. The food wasn't that great either, especially for the price. I started off with the mushroom bisque which was probably the highlight of the evening. For my main meal I ordered the prime rib, it was served with sweet potatoes and parsnips. The sweet potatoes were bland, I didn't eat the parsnips. The prime rib was just a hunk of meat on a plate with a little dribble of sauce on top. I ordered mine medium rare but it was more on the well done side. I was hoping the waiter would have come over to ask how everything was but he didn't. There was only one other table seated so it wasn't that he was too busy. maybe my expectations were too high but needless to say when you're paying that much for a meal you should leave feeling satisfied. It is a COVID 19 summer and our wedding was downsized to our witnesses and our honeymoon trip to VT was cancelled because of strict rules affecting out of staters. That said in a search for an alternative we stumbled upon the Settlers inn. It is well kept service is perfect mo- thurs rates are discounted 60%. Rates include breakfast which has a small but varied menu. Everything is perfect coffee main dishes and a side if their delicious crumb cake. They are clear but unobtrusive about social distancing and masks. It is affiliated with Ledges and Silver Birches and therefore have access to all of their facilities. It is located close to promised land state park,the lake wallenpaupack trail, childs, Dingmans ferry and Rasica parks. read more

Such a disappointing dinner on 4/10/2021. We have so enjoyed past dinners at Settlers Inn but last night was a letdown. Service was terrific, this review reflects the food! Here is why: appetizer of Duck Arancinis was SO bland/tasteless, the Parm Crusted Artichoke Hearts also SO bland. The good app was the Deviled Eggs. Our entrees also greatly disappointed: Sea Bass too salty, Pork Chop just ok, veg lasagna was good, chicken dish was the only 'star' of the four entrees. Dessert? Carrot Cake inedible due to it being stale! We all took one forkful and and agreed it was terrible. So, to the kitchen staff...What has happened/changed?! Visiting the Settlers Inn for a meal is such a lovely, charming experience that I have to wholeheartedly recommend. We love spending a special brunch here or a celebratory dinner. The environment is so warm and cozy with an adorable garden out back. And the staff are always pleasant and welcoming. The food won't blow your socks off, but it is decidedly delicious. For our most recent brunch here, I had the chef's omelet of the day w/ kale and mushrooms and sausage, and our table was treated to a basket of fresh homemade blueberry muffins to start- yum. I recently stayed at the Settlers Inn and ate at this restaurant during that time. Had breakfast here each morning during my stay since it comes included with the room. Was at the inn on 01/16/2020 - 01/18/2020. Polenta pancakes were very good two out of three mornings. I suspect a different chef/cook on Saturday, since that was the only day there weren't that great. Light and crisp served with a cherry sauce, which was very nice. Was excited to get pancakes that were not extremely thick and heavy. Also had eggs each day, which were also good well. Coffee was strong, which is how I prefer it. Dinner was an absolute delight. 1st Dinner: Appetizer: Got the deviled duck egg crostini. Not for the faint of heart. The duck egg, as suspected, made for a heavy, luscious, decadent accompaniment to the thin and crispy crostini. Each order has 4, which would be the equivalent to about 8 'normal' deviled eggs. You have been warned! Entrée: Cod. It was well cooked and seasoned. Sides were also done well. Skin side of fish was crispy enough to enjoy. I have learned first hand how easy it is to overcook a fish filet and appreciated it being done so well. Dessert: Nope - too full at this point! 2nd Dinner: Appetizer: Yep...got those duck deviled eggs again! Entrée: I went against what I normally order out and got the tenderloin. Again, perfectly cooked and seasoned. Couscous left something to be desired, but after all, it is just couscous. Could have used a bigger portion of the veggies. Dessert: Ordered the special for the evening - Chocolate Mousse Trifle. Couldn't find the mousse. Came to the conclusion that it was a pudding and a rich pudding at that. Like the pudding from the Jello box that you made back in the 80's and purposing didn't cover so you could eat the think layer of 'skin' that formed as it set. Yep, it was like that. It's difficult sentimentally to write such a negative review of this place when normally we enjoy Settler's Inn as well as other Settler Hospitality properties. I dined at Settler's Inn a few days ago with some friends. Two of us ordered the special...sautéed shrimp which was the only description offered by our hostess other than "it's very popular". The dish was beyond terrible and someone cooking their first meal ever likely would have done better. For starters, the shrimp was literally SMOTHERED in DRY hot red chili pepper flakes. To be clear, it wasn't cooked into the sautée. It was dumped on the food before serving. It was horribly spicy, hard to eat and tasted terrible. Both of us who ordered it were disappointed and found it inedible. There was no warning whatsoever from our hostess that this was an unreasonable spicy entree. The other parts of the entree were also mismatched and made no sense. The shrimp were served on top of overcooked sliced sweet potatoes. It honestly felt like the kitchen was looking to get rid of surplus ingredients and disguise it in a dump of dry hot red chili pepper flakes. Buyer beware: "very popular" might be code for "we want to get rid of it". No better on the appetizers. Complete mismatch even an amateur would not do. Ordered gravlox (smoked salmon). It was served on fried eggplant. Couldn't taste the fish. Ordered burrata and tomatoes. The burrata was hard - it was either old or just mozzarella. And the tomatoes were watery, past it's prime, beefsteak slices. We were all highly disappointed by this experience. It is three days later and to be graphic the spice is STILL affecting me. Have you changed chefs? Sorry Settler's Inn, there are many other options to consider these days. read more

She also loved the quality and presentation of the homemade granola and yogurt bowl. My wife ordered the Asparagus, Red Pepper, and Brie omelet. I ordered the Steak and Eggs with Hollandaise Sauce. Not one to normally leave reviews here because I find many people to be unrealistic and quite frankly, kind of insane but as a semi-regular diner here I feel like it would benefit the owners to hear this. Firstly, the restaurant and ground are beautiful. Historic , well kept, and cozy. I enjoy the concept and Arts And Crafts atmosphere . Also really enjoy relaxing at Settlers fireplace and back garden area. My only BIG complaint is the food . I've eaten here a good 20 times and I'd say I'm mostly disappointed . I always want it to be better because I actually love the building and the convenience when we have friends in town. The food is often : greasy , bland/ flavorless, and skimpy. I don't need large portions but it can't be small AND lacking. For the price point and ambiance, it's basically chain-restaurant quality food disguised as something more and it is such a bummer. Any way we can get notified when you guys hire a real chef ?! In the mean time , I will keep coming back and being disappointed . read more

The Inn is rustic and charming. Terri, at the front desk is helpful and very attentive. We were encouraged to participate in the jazz dining experience on the veranda 2 nights after we arrived so we made a reservation for 7:30 pm. The jazz was fantastic, yet 2 hours and 15 minutes after we sat down, everyone else on the veranda was served and leaving (all waiting a considerable amount of time to be served as well) and the jazz trio was having dinner at the bar. At this juncture, we had only had our salad. We were understanding up to a point- busy night and new jazz set up. Finally, at our request, the manager and the waitress showed up to tell us the wait would be a little longer. We came from across the country to explore this area and our experience has been mostly positive, however, we have never had such a disappointing and dampening meal experience.
