Decided to go for a nice dinner with the wifey during a weekend getaway. After a long search for a nice place to dine at we decided to have dinner at the Fairview Cafe. We we're told that they're BYOB so it made us look forward to our evening. This place is extremely cozy, have a decent size parking lot and a moderate size fire place right in the middle of the dinner area. Nothing at this place was too tacky or over done. We we're lucky enough to be hosted by a great host who was at the time training another server. Our host/server was extremely nice, pleasant and approachable. She definitely helped us with the menus and made our evening special by taking pictures of us per our request. We started off our dinner with Arugula salad and a French onion soup that I never had and been wanting to try. Both the salad and the French onion soup right off the bat beat our expectations. We then moved onto our appetizers and had the highly rated fried goat cheese and blue crab popper delights. Both of the appetizers were spot on. The appetizers set our expectations so high we decided to move on to some of their best on the menu. My wife picked the rack of lamb and I went with the cowboy ribeye. These main courses were very good. The ribeye and the rack of lamb was cooked to perfection. The rack of lamb with blackberry bourbon sauce was perfect choice for the rack of lamb. The steak was meaty, fatty and very tasty. I had my fingers crossed and just like I hoped the steak wasn't over cooked and was a perfect medium well. Our dinner experience was very pleasant and the food definitely met our expectations. Only disappointment we experienced was when it came to dinner the options were a lot, but a lot of cakes and pies. If you have a sweet tooth you'll definitely like their cakes, but if you're not then I wouldn't be too excited towards dessert. I hope this place really ups their dessert game and focus on quality over quantity. Overall our experience was great, dinner met our expectations, and the ambience was perfect for a cold winter evening. Must add the service was highlight of the evening. Terrible wait staff, t shirt waiter, stood at head of table and asked for drink orders. No sparkling water, no seltzer, only drinks for kids was apple juice. No AC, 80 degress in the dining room. This place is garbage, no other way to say it. I don't know where to start with this place. Or how to express how horrible the experience was here.... We drove an hour to come here for a birthday dinner. Let's start with the only good thing, the server was nice and friendly. The restaurant it self is cute, however when you start looking closely not the cleanest place, cobwebs and dust in all the corners but whatever. Now the food... horrible is too good of a word. Wife ordered the Scallops, she got 4 tiny, about the size of a quarter scallops, white rice which was unseasoned and tasted like mold, and green beans that were old and wilted and also unseasoned. I ordered the "cowboy cut" rib eye. First off this was not a cowboy cut which is usually a nice bone in steak, this was the worst quality steak I have ever eaten, I know ribeyes are usually fatty compared to other cuts, but there was no edible meat on this steak. Basic salt and pepper seasoning, nothing special, and the "whiskey butter" was completely flavorless. Came with garlic mashed potatoes that were also unseasoned and flavorless and the same old wilted green beans as my wife. Even the soda I ordered was flat. No choice of sides, you get what you get and most likely will get upset.... I've had better food sold out of the trunk of peoples cars and the audacity of the owners to call this "fine dining". Dollar general sells a better quality steak than this... Claimed they took 20% off the bill cause we didn't like the food but when we did the math, they took 20% off my steak and not the total bill. I dont understand how this place has such good reviews... What an absolute disgrace and disappointment. Do better... No wonder the place was empty , we should have taken that as a sign and just left than. Ended up at Arby's which was far better a choice than Fairview, also even the name is a lie, Fairview? Very bad experience, service was not good, they were out of olive oil and could not prepare several entree's, my friend ordered chicken cutlets, un eatable, they were clearly bad, taste was scary. Even the salads were awful, French onion soup awful. For the hell of it today, I looked at review dating back to 2022 and they are pretty bad. Came here not in a group (like my last review) and had a completely opposite experience. The service was so terrible, it detached from the entire experience. We were sitting for ~20 min before anyone brought over menus or even water. From there, we had a round table of wait staff, making it very inconvenient to ask for things as we had to ask multiple wait staff multiple times. We literally only saw the waitress that took our order twice - to take our order and give us the check I did not like my meal. It should have been labeled the weight watchers meal. It was the chicken cutlet and I was expecting a breaded chicken cutlet. Instead It was a plain grilled piece of chicken with under-steamed Brussels sprouts and sweet potato. Not flavored at all. Super super bland. Two opposing experiences here to definitely be aware of. Luckily we had a bottle of wine to chill and relax, if we didn't I think I would have left. read more

We were here about a week ago. Great restaurant for Gluten Free people. I have an allergy and the special of risotto, filet and scallops in a mushroom gravy was gf. It was delicious! This was our 3rd visit and our last. Such a cute place and a great outdoor area. BYO is a plus for sure. Food was always decent, not great, but decent. Was very cold inside, but chalked it up to the huge vaulted ceiling which prob cost a ton to heat properly. We were the only ones in the place which is not a good sign (another couple did show up later, but that was it). The server let us know there were a lot of items on the menu that were not available, another red flag. Bread was actually very good & fresh & mushroom cap app was nice & hot which warmed us up lol. We ordered the house salad which was supposed to have olives, sunflower seeds & pine nuts. It had none of that, just a few yellow tomatoes & 1 strawberry sliced & a raspberry dressing which was way too sweet. Salad was awful & not anything of what was described. So we decided to split the entrée which was a seafood dish in marinara sauce over pasta. Was supposed to be clams, shrimp & crabmeat. Server said they had no clams so they would add extra shrimp & crabmeat. We got the dish and there was crabmeat & old shrimp & what appeared to be the end piece of a larger fish with the black skin still on it. I asked what fish that was and server said it was salmon. It was mostly that black slimy skin and was old. Were they trying to do us a favor by adding that piece of salmon? No idea but this made the dish awful. Did the cook think we were blind and not see this chunk of old fish that was not even supposed to be in the dish? At least we didn't get sick from it but will never return to this place. Maybe they are going out of business and that's why half the menu was unavailable and they were throwing stuff in just to get rid of it? Gee thanks Fairview Cafe for serving us one of the worst meals we have had in a restaurant ever. And we go out all the time to eat. read more

Came here based on the good reviews. It's a miss for me. You have to make a reservation in advance and it's BYOB. I highly suggest you bring alcohol because the service was very slow and you will be sitting there for a long time. We didn't bring alcohol so maybe that's why we noticed how inattentive and slow our server was. She never asked us if we liked our food or needed anything. Never came to see if we needed more drinks etc. We tried to order apps first but she said the chef insists that we order everything at once. Then she came back 20 minutes later to take our order. Some of the other servers seemed a little more attentive so I really think it depends who your server is. I had the feta and spinach stuffed salmon which was meh. We did the blue crab app with was small but decent. The platings of the entrees weren't too exciting either we just kind of expected more. The ambience is great but the service was severely lacking for the cost. Management should also come around to check on the patrons and they didn't. I feel like the Fairview tries to be upscale but lacks the finesse of a higher end restaurant. My advice: go there for dessert. read more

This charming restaurant is much more than the name suggests ! Seven of us enjoyed al the entrees & our server Sara was informative as well as attentive to us . Three of us enjoyed the rack of lamb , as we had to finish every morsel by cleaning the bones ! The Ahi Tuna was enjoyed as well as other entrees . Went here tonight for an early dinner with my sister and daughter-in-law. I had the lobster ravioli as an appetizer was phenomenal. Then I had the French onion soup. My sister had the Cornish game hen, and she shared, was awesome. I just wish it was more predominantly advertise it was BYOB. They did offer me local red wine , which I took, was very good. My daughter in law had the crab cakes which she shared, they were great. I had the cowboy steak with chipotle butter, need I say more. Lol to full for dessert. the service was great. We had a wonderful experience at this charming BYOB. We had a bit of a wait despite having a reservation, but the host (maybe owner?) brought us wine glasses and opened our bottle to let us get started. The goat cheese balls and pumpkin ravioli starters were fantastic and large enough for 5 people to each have a sizeable piece. Our steak was cooked perfectly and the pasta tasted fresh. Broccoli and garlic, slivers of raw garlic. We all had steak except one in our party, she had pankoe crusted stuffed chicken with marinara Ketchup disguised as marinara. We ordered to pick up 7 dinners since they could not seat us at six or 6:30. When I arrived at 6:30 there were many empty tables. I picked up the food and got back to the house and it was missing the salmon from the order even though my family heard me order it over the phone. The steaks were done well, but the two salads were very small even though the website did not say they were side salads($8 each) The Brussel sprouts were way undercooked and the steaks had no seasoning on them. Came here the other night. If I didn't know it was BYOB I'd say the vibe was a bit like a funeral parlor, but the lack of a bar scene will do that. But it was no issue because we were told it was byob and picked up a nice Cab on the way. Place is very nice. The fireplace is garishly massive. Seriously. It takes up 60% of the floor space and produces zero heat. If I were the owner I'd scale it down and get 8 more tables in there. That said, service was good although our server was admittedly overwhelmed, she kept up nicely. Entres were good decent price. No complaints. Salads were lacking however. Our only issue is the appetizer menu is very odd and limited. The Brie was served with and exceptional amount of blueberry juice and rice crackers which is a very odd pairing. They would do well to refresh the apps and provide a bit more "pubby" things like calamari. I know they are trying to be fine dining, however with the refrigerated case with the deserts right when you walk in and the massive porch, hints of Cracker Barrel come through. Terrible!! We went there for a wedding rehearsal dinner. The food was basically inedible! The chicken was so tough you had to saw it. The vegetables ( sweet potatoes & brussel sprouts) were actually raw. The other 2 entrees were just as bad. We had to wait an eternity between each course.I felt bad for the groom who was paying for this. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The cafe is a beautiful post and beam structure with a large four open sided fireplace in the center of the main dining area. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and full of ambiance and charm. Our appetizers were well made and delicious. I had the onion soup which was top notch and my wife had the fried goat cheese, which she loved. I had the prime rib which I ordered medium rare. It was pan seared in both side and was really over cooked. Sorry, but I was not a fan. However my wife had a filet which was served with a rosemary sauce. The dish was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. We finished our meal by sharing a serving of super rich chocolate cake and a piece of peanut butter pie. Both were the perfect ending to a delightful meal. Our server was very warm and friendly and the service was timed perfectly. We will definitely return soon. read more

Had a private afternoon party with 45 guests. We opted for a sit down meal. The menu included 4 options including meat, fish and vegetarian. Plus 2 appetizers and a dessert selection. We had a 4 piece band. The weather was perfect so we were able to have everyone on the outside porch. Because they lack a liquor license we provided the wine and beer, which saved us a lot. The staff made it available at a serving station and wine could be taken to tables by the bottle. The service was excellent. The food was also excellent . The desserts were delicious. We were beyond satisfied and our guests were very impressed . Wouldn't hesitate to book here again for a similar event. Also kids were allowed to play the adjoining miniature golf course. read more

The best I can say is that it's a relief to not be there any longer. The building is impressive but the service and food were horrible. Our waitress forgot about us and I finally had to approach another wait staff to get her attention. The food we ordered was insipid and uninspiring. French onion soup that was lacking onions and had a bland broth, ravioli that had been left out and was dried, and an undressed caesar salad! The bread was served with a saccharine butter concoction which was not consistent with anything else on the menu. A restaurant should have a brand, in the case of the Fairview Cafe the brand is expensive poor food. read more

My family and I had an amazing experience at the Fairview Cafe. The ambiance was so relaxing and it felt like we were truly in the country from the cozy cabin element the restaurant has to it. There is a large 4 sided beautiful fireplace in the dining room as well! The service was exceptional from the beginning to end. The food was delicious! The arugula salad was my favorite appetizer. You can't go wrong ordering any pasta as your entree -- they were all delicious, especially the Linguini Mediterranean. To top it off, my favorite dessert was the carrot cake. 3.5 stars, bumped up. Stellar food and an absolutely beautiful rustic-chic lake cabin interior and exterior. However, service was lacking (they were, at least, friendly). We were a little disappointed we weren't sat in the main dining room with the gorgeous stone fireplace in the center and the large windows. We were placed in the side dining room off to the left when you walk in. Round table, though, so that's a plus (better for conversation). The room we were in was very beautiful and classy, but felt like the child's table at Thanksgiving, away from the action and oft forgotten about. BYOB is nice so we brought a few bottles of red and white (although the unused section holding glasses in front of the restaurant would make for a great bar). Our server was sweet, but seemed pretty inexperienced. She forgot to check on us often or bring out requested waters, interrupted at awkward times, took forever in between courses to take our orders. Dirty dishes weren't cleared unless we flagged her down. Getting dessert and then the check took forever, so our meal lasted close to 3 hours. We weren't in a rush so didn't mind the time to catch up and chat, and the kitchen may have been a little backed up, but impatience set in when we just wanted to place our orders and start eating. They weren't even busy that night, so I'm not sure what the hold up was. As for the food, though, it was pretty fantastic. For apps, some got salads, but I tried the fried goat cheese appetizer with apple, crispy prosciutto and balsamic glaze, which was VERY tasty. For entrees, 4 out of the 5 of us got the signature ribeye with the chipotle/whiskey butter, all at different temperatures, and all came out literally perfect and were massive in size. The garlic mashed potatoes were creamy and delicious. The asparagus was tasty, but they only provided 2 spears, which was weird. Steaks were juicy and seasoned well, but I had a ton of uneaten fatty parts at the end which maybe could've been rendered into a nice edible gristle. However, that chipotle butter was addicting - although my dad thought the dollop on top was carrot or sweet potato because of the orange color and ate it in one bite, which gave us a laugh. The 5th guest got crab cakes and really enjoyed them. For dessert (on display in front so as to tempt), we tried the carrot cake, chocolate cake and caramel apple pie. Chocolate cake was okay, but the carrot cake was fantastic and that caramel apple pie was literally the best apple pie I've ever had (although they were out of ice cream? Which was disappointing). I would return for the food (and maybe dine on the pretty patio in less humid weather), but service could use a refresher course. read more

The food is delicious the place is gorgeous. What I find annoying is that you must bring your own alcohol... And I'm not even a drinker but my husband loves an occasional bottle of wine. I know liquor licenses are very very expensive but when you go out for either a dinner date with your partner or a bunch of people ,you would like to know that there is a bar where you can order some drinks. Fairview Cafe I am not really sure why "cafe" is in the name . This beautiful,majestic log cabin on steroids as in the building itself - is not a cafe - it sounds cool though ... You step inside into a lit seasonal scented candle doorway immediately setting the good mood . Next sight is a dessert case filled with cakes and pies of your sweet dreams. And than you look around,up to the ceiling tastefully loaded with country antic stuff. Candle lights flickering through and through. It s like a Disney movie tavern . On your right there is a dining room with a huge 4 wall fireplace,hunting trophy s on the wall - some would be against- i love animals and in this place,does not bother . On your left another dining room a touch smaller ,no fireplace but focal point is an adorable ,antic knick knacks filled huge window with lanterns and candles and baskets, on the wall beautiful mirror with a cool lamp on an antic table. It is really hard to put it all in words if one is not a writer. I guess what I am trying to say is that the whole entire place inside and out is this amazing country chic decor and elevated class with the table settings but to me it is not uncomfortable ,not snob . The food :omg the food !!!! everything is fresh,made to order,simple but direct plating. Never to dissapoint not me and my friends anyways. The staff: proffessional but not cold . Warm and welcoming but not over the top hovering ,just the right amount of attention you need through out your dinner . Awesome job Fairview Team ,you guys nailing it . The restaurant looked great on the outside, but the food and waitstaff suck. Our waitress spent more than 15 min chatting up a nearby table before taking our order, and all the food was bad. Highlights include overly sweet butter and salad dressing, dry ravioli, and tasteless sausage. Everything was highly overpriced (think $30-$69), especially because the quality was all so poor. Moral of the story is don't waste your time here, you'd be better off buying a frozen pizza and eating it uncooked. read more

Not sure why this isn't a solid 4 stars.I gave a five instead of a 4 just to try and bring it up. Our experience was fabulous. The tomahawk steak ,dry aged was incredible. Appetizers great. My only small minus was prices were a little high but I didn't mind paying for top notch meals. Some of the reviews are dumb someone went there and they weren't open so they gave one star. Others say the place was beautiful and meals top notch but service was slow and they waited for their meals. This place makes everything fresh and a good meal at a top restaurant is going to take time. If you want a quick meal ,go to McDonalds. Seriously! Go ,it's definitely worth the trip. read more

We have dined here many time in 2022 and enjoyed it and gave a 5 star review. Been here twice in 2023 within 2 months both times a disappointment. I dont like posting negativity but the owner needs to know the issues to wit: running out of selzer, salad which was frozen, over cooked cowboy steak which was all fat and thin and unedible. 4 of us got the salmon over cooked and dried out. I hope managment takes cognizance of these issues as this was a great place in 2022 I am not sure what is going on here now and while every place can have a bad day this needs to be recitified read more

Fave place in the area, you won't get a better meal anywhere else. Never overcrowded but always SO good. The goat cheese app is so worth every calorie, and definitely save room for dessert (THEYRE huge!!). Jamie is amazing and can help with your menu choices, so definitely ask for her.
