Greatest way the bartender started off my Valentine's Day dinner was "Would you like a glass of champagne?". Why yes, I would! What I loved most was the unique roles offered and when I asked the bartender for suggestions, she did not steer me wrong. I ordered the Jose Erin (spicy) and Strawberry Field (sweet). I enjoyed the light and fresh taste of both. My only regret is that I didn't have room in my stomach for a third roll. This place was really good. I had the salmon and the rest of the group ordered various type of rolls on a large plate. All the rolls were consumed at the end of the evening. What does that tell you? Yummy!! My friends wagu burger was very good and tasty. I asked for my salmon to lay on a bed of lettuce with dressing and they accommodated my request. Their is seating outdoors and indoors. It gets quite chilly in the evening inside if they seat you near the doors so bring a sweater. Lots of parking. Wear a mask when you enter and removal of it when you are seated. read more

I used to absolutely love this place ! Something happened since they have moved to their new location however. I have been five or six times since they reopened in the cannery district and it has been a disaster every time. The vast majority of their servers are unenthused, seemingly underpaid, and always slow. Sushi in Montana???? Absolutely!!!! Fresh, Fresh, Fresh! Great atmosphere with hip and experienced service. If you're lucky enough to see oysters on the menu, don't miss out! I always order the yellowtail jalapeño appetizer and the green dream roll. Everything on the menu is fantastic but if you're feeling adventurous the sushi chefs are very talented and creative and provide a unique omoksee service. Hostess rolled her eyes when we walked back from the bar and asked if we could wait to sit until the bar was cleared of half-eaten food and drinks left behind by previous diners. We ordered the calamari appetizer, 3 rolls, and 1 dessert (+ beer and wine). The service was acceptable. The calamari were the sort of rubber strip sticks, which are never better than the rings. The appetizer was disappointing, but the dipping sauce made it edible. Our three rolls were all totally fantastic. We had the Pablo Escolar, the Green Dream, and the Rainbow (with crab, not krab). The fish tasted really fresh, and was texturally good. There were three dessert options, and we went with the Creme Brûlée. It came out, with an artfully cut strawberry, and a solid dark sugar surface. However, the custard was runny, curdled, and tasteless. I used to live in Bozeman and when I did, there were only a couple of sushi joints. Since I left, a few more have opened and I've been excited to try Seven while back in town visiting. I finally had the chance to do so on a recent trip. Boy, was I sorely disappointed... My friend and I arrived around 7pm on a Tuesday night, and were greeted and promptly sat at a table. Unfortunately, that's where anything "good" really ends. First, the restaurant was freezing. We both left our coats on throughout our meal. Secondly, the service was just terrible, and in an I'm-going-to-bug-you-to-death way. Our server was at our table literally every 60-120 seconds. Yes, the restaurant was somewhat slow. I can understand that maybe she was a bit bored, but we felt SO hurried, in every aspect. Hurried to order, hurried to eat, hurried to pay, and then to leave. It just left a bad taste in my mouth. And speaking of bad tastes...the sushi was in the top 3 of "worst I've ever had". The fish was really dry, and clearly not fresh. The rice was hard, and the rolls were incredibly hard to pick up with chopsticks because they were rolled too loosely. This is what we ordered: unagi (eel) nigiri, sake (salmon) nigiri, Rainbow roll upgraded to real crab, tuna maki roll, Pablo Escolar roll. There is some great creativity on this menu and with fresh fish, I can imagine that this food can be phenomenal. Unfortunately, it completely and utterly missed the mark for me. For $60 plus tip for the sushi, a beer, and a glass of wine, I felt really ripped off. I've literally had better tasting and fresher sushi from grocery store cases. I wish I could say that I'll be back to give it another shot, but the truth is, I can't see myself spending another dime here without cringing. There are other sushi restaurants in Bozeman. All four of us had excellent food: Carpaccio, Wakame (seaweed salad), Philly Roll, Yellowtail classic hand roll, and (my new favorite!) Ziggy Stardust. The service was excellent. The ambiance did not interfere nor create a strange environment for our fun celebratory meal. The sweet potato fries were an art form and are unique to this restaurant. The best part about this restaurant was the waiter, Able. Very attentive, personable and accommodating. A bright young man with a bright future. The sushi was very fresh and tasty, but small portions considering the $15 price tag. Likewise, the dessert portions were small and the presentation was unimpressive - but it was tasty. Then the waitress proceeded to lie to the manager about the time we had ordered, yet there computer system had tracked it and proved she was not telling the truth. I've had more interested, caring service at a snotty french restaurant. The service staff could not be less interested in you. They are way too into their own 'Vanderpump Rules' life drama. They are all highly attractive, seemingly professional young people. But I've rarely been so ignored. It's as if serving you is secondary to whatever else they might have going on. It's unfortunate. I had this experience the first time and thought perhaps it was a fluke. But the second time was worse. My server could hardly be bothered to get me a second glass of wine. Never asked me how the food was. The most attention I got was when the check was dropped off. Unfortunately for me, I'm a shamelessly generous tipper, so both times the servers were probably clueless as to how dreadful their service was. I most likely just won't return. Before y'all slam me for under-rating this place, I'll say that it's not a terrible choice for getting some sushi rolls in Bozeman. The sushi rolls are pretty good, but they're also quite overpriced and only of average quality. My opinion is that this restaurant is an exercise in style over substance. That said, they do good business and Bozemanites tend to like it, so good for them. I definitely don't think I got my money's worth, however. Like I mentioned earlier, the sushi rolls are pretty good. I'm partial to the Sesame Street, the Pablo Escolar, the Kamikaze, and the Hamachi Popper. Despite the clever names, I don't think the quality of the rolls is great. The fish is fine, but the rice consistency and flavor leaves a bit to be desired. The rolls are quite tasty and they'll hit the spot for a sushi fix, but don't expect to be extremely pleased if you've enjoyed great sushi in Japan, Hawaii, California, or in major US cities. I'll go as far to say that I'm just as happy getting sushi at Town and Country, and Town and Country is waaay cheaper. If this review was based on sushi alone, it would be a 4 star review, seeing how we are in Montana and sushi isn't exactly ubiquitous (see? I'm being fair). However, I've got to drop Seven Sushi down to 3 stars because the other items I've had just aren't up to snuff. First, the gyoza, or whatever it is they're claiming is gyoza. No no no no no. This is some kind of thick bubbly-skinned fried concoction that looks like a Chinese-Korean fried dumpling on the outside and contains some kind of veggie medley Asian fusion bullshit on the inside. I don't know what it is, but it ain't gyoza. Some folks may like it, but I find it nearly inedible. Plus, the disappointment of receiving this when I am expecting a plate of traditional thin-skinned steam/fried pork potstickers (you know, an order of gyoza) is enough to raise my blood pressure. Second, the tempura. Now, I should probably know better than to expect great tempura in Montana. And I did know better. I was just expecting passable tempura, like what you'd get at Wasabi on 19th street. This was not passable. The batter had fallen off just about every vegetable in my order. Instead of lightly-fried veggies ensconced in a delicate, light, and crispy batter, I had weird hunks of oil-laden vegetables with hardly any batter stuck to them at all. It's like the fry cook at a New Jersey diner got really drunk and made some crappy onion rings with an improvised batter consisting of 7-up and cake flour. Disappointing. So yeah. 3 stars. Fabulous! I was skeptical. Sushi in Montana. Could it be possible? Light and airy sushi and I loved it. Hammer roll is the Very best to me and it was for our group. I prefer food on the spicy side and jalapeño with sirachi with yellowtail - delicious. Nigiri is my fav or I could give you insight on the other. It was very good. The waitress did a good job keeping our glasses full. The ambience - Montana meets Japan and you would just love it. It is a must visit of you are in town. Next door to a neat little brewery too I'm not a "beer girl" but it was full and our friends enjoyed a beer prior to dinner. read more

Okay, so, two out of five seems pretty harsh, but I understand they are just launching their delivery endeavor--this is a grade on a delivery order therefore I'm grading it as such. First of all, they build in all delivery fees to compensate the drivers. Not only is the idea of sushi delivery (if perfected) totally bad-ass, but here is finally a restaurant willing to treat a deliverer's time fairly. Both their delivery charge (flat $3) and 15% upcharge (gratuity) go toward driver gas and wage. That is awesome. My fiancee and I even tipped more than said charges because the driver was totally rad and gave us the impression he teemed with passion. That being said...the product did not live up to the hype--a typical recompense of Bozeman, MT. Sure, it was fun to pretend I was an eccentric rich person while dropping a C-Note for a bevy of food, but that one-hundred dollars meant to create a special dinner, and, lesson learned, didn't come close to spending the same amount at other restaurants in town. Our order was incorrect (two items missing), the sushi was wanting (but what did I expect, it's Montana) as it tasted haphazardly thrown together. The cheapest thing we ordered (the miso soup) was clearly the most satisfying despite representing only 4% of our bill. The only reason I felt a 2 star review was more appropriate than three was because we live relatively close to the restaurant and figured it was a safe bet. Moral of the story? Just cook the chicken in your fridge you have been procrastinating making and leave the money in the bank. read more
