I travel internationally 7-10 times a year, and always secure travel insurance. I've used Allianz for years, have made several claims, all of which were paid. A few months ago I switched to Seven Corners, after reading a review (not here unfortunately), because their per diem was higher that of Allianz. In August traveled to Taiwan, where my wife was scheduled to meet me a few days after my arrival. Her flight was delayed in Japan by 2.5 hours because of a typhoon, she eventually made it but missed the last train to the southern part of the island, where I was staying. She was forced to overnight in the hotel in Taipei. The next day the trains were cancelled outright because of the storm, forcing her to stay yet another night. I submitted a claim to Seven Corners, with all supporting documentation. Each time I checked up on the claim, they asked for additional information, and each time I provided it. They never updated me without me prompting it. Finally I checked up a few days ago and was told the claim was denied (this is well over a month after the claim was submitted). No explanation as to why. I called and was told that it was denied because the flight was not delayed by more than three hours. She arrived 2.5 hours late. When I explained that the trains were cancelled the following day, and that at least that hotel night should be covered, the person I spoke with suggested I file an appeal. After all the time I've spent on this claim I give up, as the likelihood of success is slim, it should not require this much effort to make a simple claim that is the result of a documented, named storm. This insurance company is a waste. I purchased trip insurance with them, something I seldom do. But it was for a trip to Alaska to see the Iditarod Finish in Nome, Alaska March 13-23. I saved for 2 years. I was packed, read to go. One hour from leaving the house for my flight, I was called by the Tour Owner stating the tour was being canceled. The City of Nome, Alaska did not want people/tourists coming into their town due to the spread of COVID and not having proper medical facilities in addition the potential spread to Alaskan Villages for be devastating. I supplied all the information including the announcement by Nome Council. Seven Corners declined my claim. The pandemic does not fall under natural causes or terrorist threat. Their trip insurance is a total scam. I thought I was covering myself and making the right decision. In addition to losing thousands on the trip, I lost several hundred more for trip insurance that didn't pay out.Very, very frustrating. However, with that said, Delta Airline refunded my airfare in less than 36 hours after submitting my claim. Also, I found out from the tour operator that of the 10 people on the tour, 1 couple got their claim approved...they purchased their insurance through Travel Guard. Good to know for future reference if I ever able to afford the ability to go to Alaska, which unfortunately isn't in the near future due to how much I lost. read more

Seven corners claims it covers pre-existing conditions and relies a DOCTOR's diagnosis to establish it. I bought visitors insurance for my parents from this company expecting them to use the same claims processing systems that American insurance companies use. But oddly, they NEVER contact the hospitals and doctors for the paperwork (WHY IS THAT?!). They expect the providers to send them the documents, but never have records of receiving them (WHY IS THAT TOO?!). It is a scam to prolong payment. When I filed claims for doctor visits, their support insisted I mail the records by post ONLY. When I did and called a few weeks later, they claimed they never received them! After numerous calls (including to Kathy below), I managed to get across to a manager who showed a brief flash of generosity and gave me his phone number and email to EMAIL the documents. After I did this, he disappeared and stopped responding to my calls and emails! After 3 months I am still to see a single penny. This company used to be one of the most respected companies in the travel insurance business, however, recently it has worked its way down to the bottom of the barrel. It is too bad that I had to give them 1 star which is required to be able to write a review, but my rating to this company is - . I took an iternational policy called "Majestic International" supposedly underwritten by "LLoyd of London" for six months and paid $ 745.00 premium. When I filed a claim for emergency medical expenses incurred overseas, this company immediately denied my claim for no declared reason on the EOB I received from the company. I will do everything I can to expose this company to the public, and I am in the process of writing to LLoyd of London about this company's sleazy business. read more

I don't even know where to start, but we bought an insurance for our tickets when we went on vacation around March-April to Philippines because my husband wants and its a good deal since it says it covers lost baggages trip delays or even last minute cancelation .. we were supposed to come back April 19 but our trip got delayed for 3 days in manila , we couldn't do anything but wait for the next available flight. April 22 is our flight, back to california again, and our aircraft had some issues and was delayed again for 4 hours. we landed in Hong Kong rushing to get to our connecting flight because we only had 30 minutes ro board, and guess what because of all the delays that happened our frozen baggage got delayed too and sent it to us 3 days later.. it was all thawed and when we finally talk to SEVEN CORNERS your staff said to send all the requirements needed, WE ALL HAVE THAT and sent it but got denied because the policy was only for "if ever we spend extra money while we were delayed, like foods or hotels, but we couldn't provide any because it was the airlines expense those 3 days delayed in. manila. now my husband followed it up and they said the policy wasn't covered baggage delayed or trip delayed like WTF? we read the insurance thing before we bought the ticket and it says there "trip delay (100 percent) baggage delay covered! you guys needs to stop scamming people. we provided everything you told us but you guys ended up saying "the policy covered only Food or extra money you spent while on delayed process". read more

I will not purchase again a travel insurance policy from Seven Corners!! Due to a family medical related issues my wife and I had to cancel our participation in an organized tour. On March 11, 2019 I submitted a claim for trip cancellation and it was only ONE MONTH later , on April 2nd that I received a respond from their analyst requesting additional information. They were not satisfied with the invoice and confirmation letter they received from my travel agent and they asked for my credit card statements!! During the next two months I had several follow ups with their customer service representatives ( Kim , Tamara, Candy...) where I was told that my case is still being reviewed and they kept on asking for additional information including personal medical records. Note that they do not allow for a direct communication with their claims department and each time I called I had to tell my case to their customer service person who kept apologizing on behalf of the claims department saying that they are overloaded with work. By the beginning of June I was so frustrated and I approached an attorney who wrote to them a letter indicating that if they do not honor their policy and make an immediate payment he will press charges in court!! When you need to file a claim, they request endless documents, many reports from doctors and once you send all those documents they ask for 30 weekdays to analyze, after your wasted time, they send a letter requesting more documents and more documents, after 90 days they just send you a DENIAL letter and you do not receive a penny from them. I'm extremely disappointed by this insurance company. I purchased medical insurance for $800+ for my mom covering 6 months in 2018 and she was coughing and had an allergy issue. We went to see a doctor and got a bill after 1 year. It's a $450 bill and apparently, we didn't get any discount or insurance payment and the doctor plans to send this bill to collection. I called them and found that United health group has approved the claim, but didn't receive a payment from seven corners for 1 year. I don't know what to do and what to say, as an insurance company and I'm insured while paid my premium, you didn't make the payment on time, didn't notify my the UHC has approved it and didn't contact my doctor's office. Enough lying and enough ball-kicking and thank you for giving me this lesson. After a week I sent an email from the website asking for an update. Got no reply. Got through via phone and was told my claim had not been assigned but would be contacted when that took place. The sales people are very friendly and eager to help. Unfortunately when you have to make a claim, they will pay you the least possible. What did I expect for an Insurance Company? More than this!!! Our cruise ship was not able to continue to our final destination for us to get off and continue our vacation. We were delivered to a port and stranded there until we could fly out in 3 days. by then we had missed one of the most expensive and best parts of the trip. They denied my Trip Interruption claim stating that the "Carrier" (My Cruise Ship) did not "Cease all operations for 48 hours) regardless of the fact that we had to get off in the WRONG port and were stranded there! After an Appeal my claim was closed and I was paid under the Travel Delay which pays out at a much lesser amount. When I called to ask about filing a Grievance, I had the misfortune to speak to a nasty lady named Candy. At this point, I have to get the cruise line to write a letter stating that they "ceased all operations for 48 hours". While they were in port for that long because of the storm, we were no longer passengers, as we had to disembark. Sticky wicket! She would not listen to me only argue. The contract only states that for a Grievance you only have to call to have it passed on to the correct people for a grievance to begin and a further review started. DON'T BELIEVE IT! Our great-grandmother passed away while were on a school trip in Europe. The group we were traveling with booked my new flight home and I filed the claim with Seven Corners a few days after the funeral. 30 days later, Seven Corners rejected my claim on the basis of "great-grandparents are not considered family on their insurance plans". This is crazy to me to say that these people are not important enough to be considered family. When I called to ask about it, the woman on the phone just keep reading different scripts to me and told me I could appeal it by writing a letter. DO NOT BUY TRAVEL INSURANCE POLICY FROM SEVEN CORNERS!! Let me explain. My wife and I purchased travel insurance from seven corners for our trip to the nation of Uganda. We have used this travel insurance company for many years. Never had any problems before. This time was different. Their policy that we purchased said that we would be covered for up to one million dollars in medical coverage. I had to have emergency surgery in Uganda to remove my prostate. The condition was unknown to me or my PA. After dealing with the company, and turning in all necessary paperwork from surgeon and hospital and from my PA back in the states, they denied the claim. The claim was for around $8,000.00 US. After 8 months trying to get them to cover the expense, they claimed it was a pre existing condition. Everything is pre-existing in your body physically. They want you to have a written letter from the airline like it's still 1999 and people communicate via telegram or something. I used this service, with my flight. I had a family member (cousin I was staying with pass away) I could no longer fly there. Had to rebook my flight, plus pay for room and board. Seven corners at first said , we need the death cert. . OMG how disrespectful as , she died unexpected, my cousin was home alone now, dealing with underage children. I was not asking him for this. I did send a Facebook go fund me about it and all my documents that I had to rebook flight. After over 30days of review and asking for things so personal, and out of line. I was told that death in family does not count for a cousin. ?????? My trip was planned to my cousins location. BUYER BEWARE! I purchased the travel insurance, unfortunately had to use it to pick up my daughter from AZ to Atlanta, GA on the first leg of the EU trip. I called Seven Corners customer support and they instructed me on arranging plans to fly to Atlanta to pick her up from the hospital. $2100 in travel and medical bills later my claim for expenses to pick her up was denied- despite that the policy language say it is covered. After fighting with them for 2 months I filed an appeal and it was denied. This company should be investigated by the FCC for criminal practices. First rate scam. read more

This is my second plan with Seven Corners, my first was a US State Department plan in 2014. Coverage was fine, and reimbursement was very quick. After living the ex-pat life for the last few years, I decided to go back and do a PhD at the University of Cambridge in the UK this year, and took up a Seven Corners Student Liaison Plan. It has been disastrous. Customer service has been atrocious. I submitted a claim over a month ago - for £255 - it still lacks a claim number, and my 5 calls with them have been fruitless, they emailed me asking me for my entry/exit stamps and proof of student status after one month, I sent to them, heard nothing. I asked them if I could send them my clinic notes directly, they said it would take another month. It's been absolute fiasco and the customer service has been awful - I would encourage all ex-pats and students to save their money and go with a real company that has proper customer service. Like others have said. They are great until you have to file a claim....Also, doing business under other names! Here is my experience: First of all, I am not disputing the verbiage in the policy itself. My complaint is regarding the purchasing process of this policy right from the start and the use of multiple brand names to create confusion. I will post this under the under brand names so everyone will be aware that it is really the same company. Half my overseas trip was ruined by a situation out of my control and I incurred hundreds of dollars of charges as a result. The entire airport in Manila was closed for the APEC summit meetings. I was relieved to know I had purchased trip insurance from a well-known company in Chicago, John Hancock Insurance--which according to the website included cancellation and delay. Upon requesting the appropriate claim forms, the form itself says it is actually "American Modern Insurance Group". However, after making sure that was the correct form it appears the forms are actually mailed to "Seven Corners". I later found out that "Sever Corners" is only the processor of claims. It appears that multiple companies are involved and that they are simply using different names to confuse and mislead consumers. My claim for trip cancellation was denied and I was advised (after several emails) to file an appeal under a different reason, trip delay. I spent countless hours filing out all the forms again and providing proper documentation and proof of such occurrence. The second claim with "John Hancock Insurance" was also denied. There were no responses to my emails, again for weeks. I also, placed many calls and emails to the "zero complaint team" at squaremouth.com asking for further clarification regarding my specific trip insurance policy that I purchased. After about a month I finally was given an answer, simply stating, that I was not covered for that reason under that policy. Regardless of the writing in the policy, I am asserting that I was cheated and completely mislead into purchasing this insurance policy from the start. I am asserting that I was lead to believe I was purchasing from a prestigious name; John Hancock Insurance. This was clearly a bait and switch scheme and absolutely unacceptable. In addition, I was not made aware prior to my purchase the extreme limitations of this policy and that I would be dealing with multiple companies other than "John Hancock". Square Mouth removed itself from the claims process after I wrote a letters to the insurance commissioners of several states (Florida, Indiana, Virginia.) Because insurance is regulated by the state, it is your home state insurance office that reviews any complaints related to insurance for citizens of that state (regardless of where the insurance company is physically located.) Within a few weeks, I had a letter stating the VA Bureau of Insurance was reviewing my claim. Within 2 weeks, I received 3 checks from Seven Corners totaling over $3,800 for claims submitted, with an actual explanation! Most individuals lack the time, knowledge or patience to persist with pursuing a rightful payment for expenses incurred and covered by a travel policy. Squaremouth, as our "broker" failed to settle the claim when it claims a Zero Complaint Policy. Warning: you are pretty much on your own if you buy travel insurance through the Squaremouth website and you need to file a claim. read more

I have been waiting for the refund of several medication that I had to take for 5 months and it's still in process. I have called them so many times. Apart from the long wait on the phone every time you call, each representative tells you a story: "we are waiting because we didn't receive the medical records from your doctor", "we are waiting because we didn't receive the form you have to send us", "we are waiting because we didn't receive your passport"... Once you say that you've sent them the forms, the passport, etc etc TWICE, they tell you that actually, yes, they have received them, but are still waiting for bla bla bla... I didn't have that problem with Aetna and it's been a nightmare to get the refund for the medicines for this company. They are super unhelpful and I'm very disappointed. read more

I am beginning to believe all the negative review posts about this Company. They are good until you actually file a claim and then the run around begins. Conflicting information, multiple requests for the same information. You can create an account with them to follow your claims, but guess what they never post your claim or that status so you have to keep guessing your status and when you call there is never an agent available and e-mail communication is the run around like the old comedy skit who's on first. I live in Houston Texas and my family was impacted by Hurricane Harvey in August of this year. I submitted a claim to get my initial deposit returned for a trip to Greece for 2018. The claim was denied because they said the benefits would apply due to a natural disaster and if your was uninhabitable and remained uninhabitable for the scheduled trip dates. We are not thinking of a trip right this second because the money needs to be utilized for day to day life and rebuilding. I guess I really do not understand how human decency takes the place of corporate verbiage. I wrote them back to say as much. They said everything will be covered not need to worry...we process claim within 2 business week. I will change my review of Seven Corners but will only give them 2 stars vice the one star I gave them earlier. The reasons for the change when my insurance claim was initially rejected, the insurance I had purchase didn't cover lost baggage. You see there are certain packages. My insurance only covers baggage delay, flight delay, and pay a portion of medical injury. The loss baggage insurance was a complete different insurance. Thankfully during my trip I was able to get my bag again about a week later. So I place an appeals for baggage delay. The value they would give is 300 dollars max. The catch is the traveler has to keep all original receipts during the time the baggage was delayed. Unfortunately I didn't have any original receipts on hand but Seven Corners was willing to accept credit card statements and I was able to get the check in the mail but its based on what I had purchase (it wasn't $300 dollars). The problem with this system if say I only purchase shampoo, and a toothbrush which is like $15 then that is what they will give you. I understand that Seven Corners trying to prevent insurance fraud but I really think that if the traveler can at least prove the baggage was delayed, depending on length of time the traveler should be qualified maximum value within reason. For example if the baggage was delayed a compensation of $25-40 dollars day should be given regardless with the documented proof of ELR report. The report is all that's needed to prove how long the bag was delayed. Customers that keep receipts or credit card statements can be additionally compensated. The same can be said in other scenarios such as flight delays a default compensation is given depending on delay or missed flights. Second having a customer purchase another insurance on lost baggage should be included in the insurance package in the first place. Why do customers need to purchase more insurance? Its just common sense that lost baggage, flight, and baggage delays can happen during travel. It really sucks thinking a company like Seven Corners should give customers a peace of mind especially after going thru problems as we travel. Customers shouldn't have to be jumping hoops just to get their claims approve. Seven Corners should make it easier and giving customers a sense of assurance. By doing so it can improve customers trust in the company. I read more

Everything is fine... until you file a claim. I've spent hours filling forms, sending copies of Proof of Loss, passport stamp entries, and so on. After 5 months they keep asking for the same things for $100! They know it's not worth the effort to follow up and hence make it next to impossible to file a claim. Seven Corners is a very disappointing company! This is a fraud! Stay away from this company! I bought the Cover America Gold travel plan during my visit in the US. I spend couple hundred dollars on the plan because I wanted to be covered in case of an emergency. Unfortunately I had a health emergency. I was experiencing chest pain and heart flustering, so I had to visit the emergency room. It took 7 months to get my claim processed. During these 7 months, they kept saying that they didn't receive medical records from the hospital I visited, so I contacted my hospital to send out medical records, but the hospital said that the reason seven corners wouldn't process my claim was because I didn't complete an accidental questionnaire. I went through a lot of trouble trying to bridge the communication between seven corners and my hospital. Finally after 7 months, my claims were processed but all of them were denied! My plan policy clearly stated that emergency room service without hospital admission will be covered by the plan, but they denied mine anyway and stated that my claims were policy exclusion. Avoid this travel insurance scam. Our flight from Amsterdam to Budapest was delayed this past December due to weather delays for 28 hours. Our first direct flight was cancelled in the morning. We stood in the KLM line for an hour with hundreds of other travelers trying to get booked on another flight. We were able to get booked onto another flight in the afternoon that would take us from Amsterdam to Brussels to Budapest. That flight, too, was cancelled. A flight did go out that evening, but was fully booked and we were not able to get ticketed for it. Finally, we were able to leave the next afternoon after a 28 hour delay. I got this response to our claim for trip delay. "We have completed our review of your recently filed claim and unfortunately, after thorough consideration of your claim, along with the language in your policy, we have determined that your claim is not payable under the policy language. We have denied your claim because it does not meet the requirements outlined by the plan." We filed an appeal thinking they had made a mistake. We received this response. "Thank you for the explanation; however, in my letter, I explained that the policy requires that the airlines completely cease operations in order for interruption/delay benefits to apply. This was not the case. The airline was still operating; unfortunately, they were unable to accommodate you. This is not a covered reason, per your policy." Because the airline did have planes going to other destinations, we were denied a claim for a trip delay. I guess having no other options to get to our destination for 28 hours does not constitute a trip delay for Seven Corners. read more

Just don't use this company. As everyone says... They are scam artist that use the dirtiest tricks to avoid paying.

Missed out on checking if they covered contraceptives. Fine, I had paid them myself anyway. I gotta get a gynecologist check-up, a regular check-up just like any other. Spent 3 months in a back and forth thing of me submitting over and over again documents for the claim I was asking for. At one point they even ask me for my student visa in the US. I'm an American citizen outside of the US, not the other way around. It's clear in the documents I keep sending you and that you keep misplacing in your backlog of claims you keep receiving and instead judge my name to be foreign. I keep waiting. NOPE! We don't regular check-ups either. I'm a student with a very limited budget in Europe for a year. Seven Corners doesn't cover pharmacy, the medical center didn't recognize either Seven Corners or United Health Plan (which was apparently the main plan they contracted to cover students like me), the numbers of the doctors provided by them in their app were all wrong or they did NOT accept Seven Corners nor did they even know them. Now I can't get a refund for a plan that in the end I NEVER USED AND PAID FOR EVERYTHING MYSELF because, and I quote: "... no refund will be made after a claim has been denied or not paid." Seriously? You don't pay my medical bills because you don't cover them but also have a policy for not reimbursing a plan I NEVER USED if I make a claim that, sorry, missed out on the fact that you don't cover a general gyno visit and for that alone I am punished and don't get my money back. Seven Corners, I hope you get what you deserve and stop lying and instead actually be more universally available for people's needs, especially a student's. All your little one sidedness makes you in the end a "if you get lucky, they might cover you" type of health plan. Jeezus. read more
