We were immediately greeted and seated even though we did arrive early. The restaurant was spacious and not very busy. However, after we ordered and looked around, all of the tables were filled! I believe that Kristie/Kristine was our server and she was friendly and informative. I started with a Key Lime Martini and I enjoyed it even though it seemed light on the alcohol. I ate at the old location a bunch of times and I love the food and the people that work there are great but it was a little small and for first time visitors it can be hard to find. The new location is easy to find since its right on the main road to get to Duval Street. Also the new location is really nice looking. And since its right on Truman there is plenty of free parking (as long as you can parallel park). The inside has so much more room inside and no longer have to worry about bumping elbows with the table next to you. And they can seat so many more people. The best part though is the menu is still awesome and still has all our favorite dishes like the Curry Fish, Bamboo Chicken and the sushi appetizers. We had the Valentines dinner here. Everything was spot on. Food, service, and ambiance was perfect.

After a local suggested this dining venue, I made reservations to Seven Fish about 24 hours prior to our dinner time. I highly recommend making reservations because this restaurant does get fully packed after sunset. There is a private parking lot behind the restaurant, but I am not sure how many spots there are. My friend and I rode our bikes (and you should anywhere in Key West). The outside of this restaurant can deter you, but do not be fooled. Seven Fish takes on a minimalist modern design with a laid-back yet classy atmosphere. Upon entrance, the hostess is straight ahead. There are about 18 tables throughout the restaurant and a full bar at the back with some seats. I'd recommend asking for the corner table to visualize the whole restaurant while dining... we got lucky. FOOD: Spicy Tuna Sushi Roll (4/5): Fresh and simple. Truth be told, I was disappointed in this 5-piece sushi roll because it is definitely not sharable (and not spicy for me). However, the spicy tuna and sushi rice ratio (2:1) was excellent. I'd order this spicy tuna than pick up the ones found in groceries like Publix/HEB. Large Roasted Red Peppers & Goat Cheese Salad (3/5): My friend chose this, and I recommend the large portion if you want to split. Just OK taste-wise. My friend and I agreed the focaccia bread with rosemary helped. I wouldn't order this again though. Snapper with Vegetable Thai Curry Cream over Sushi Rice (5/5): Our server informed this is the house-special, and I can taste why. Ginger pieces, Thai curry, and snapper... all savory together. I'd ask for more curry cream in this dish though. The sushi rice incorporation brought out a different but enjoyable flavor, pairing well with the Thai curry. The house vegetables are only carrots and broccoli, so we ordered a side of asparagus. Vegetables were overcooked though. I'd recommend this if you do not know what to order! Strawberry Whipped Cream Pie with Chocolate Graham Cracker Crust (3/5): Whipped cream was not too sweet, so it was perfect for us. Simple dessert... if you like strawberries and cream. I preferred chocolate graham cracker crust with the strawberries... only to find myself crave dark-chocolate dipped strawberries. Server was pleasant, but we had to get another server's attention two times. She recommended her favorite items off the menu to us. Water never touched bottom. Everything came out timely. A new location (about 2 years in larger space), but the same terrific seafood as the old spot. The only trouble is the prices are a bit aggressively high. It's easy to find (on a main street near the Margret Truman Laundromat, which is my favorite business name in Key West). Take an Uber no matter which direction you're coming from, because there are no low-cost parking options. Strangely enough, both entrees (grouper with creme-based sauce, the other grilled maki maki) were terrific, but the star of the show was the appetizer: a mango-shrimp salsa with lime chips. I knew a lot of food was still coming afterward, so had to resist ordering a full meal of the salsa. Most things on the menu here are seafood-based and prepared in healthy ways. The service was terrific the food was terrific, but as noted the prices would make even Wholefoods blush. Even with the tourist price boost, and all the other higher cost of doing business in Key West factors, this was a little extreme on the aggressive pricing. read more

The roll was good but not great. It was five pieces and there were four of us so it was a nice little bite. The crab cake was their own spin on it, I believe it had shrimp (and maybe scallops? Unsure). It was more filling than seafood than I prefer but it was still pretty good. I got a scallop dish with mashed potatoes and peas. The quesadilla was very good, simple, but flavorful. The smoked Mahi was incredible. It is a nice piece of fresh Mahi smoked in house and served with a delicious mustard aioli, chopped onion and jalapeño and cracker. So freaking good. Must must try, very unique dish. For dinner we shared the banana walnut chicken and their signature curry snapper. Wow both were so good. The banana walnut chicken was enormous, so flavorful, served atop a bed of delicious sushi rice and presented with a yummy piece of homemade focaccia. The Grilled Shrimp appetizer was arguably the best shrimp I l've ever had (and I've had shrimp maybe 400 times in my life), accompanied by one of the best slaws ever. The Main Lobster Alfredo... the Yellowtail Snapper Curry..... I'm getting emotional just thinking about it. We've altered the remainder of our vacation around eating here again at least once more. This place is such a treat! Doesn't look like much from the outside and a bit of a walk if you are coming from the Seaport/water, but worth it. You'll want to walk back down Duval since you'll be stuffed and need to walk off the food. Of course we didn't make reservations and the place was packed, but the hostess was amazing and got us drinks and at a table in 15 mins (it was 7:30PM so luckily folks were starting to leave). It has a small bar and definitely can get a bit noisy in there so don't expect a quiet type ambiance. We loved the Ceviche and the Mashed Potato bread was to die for. We split the special of the evening - Mahi Mahi and it was cooked to perfection. I would totally recommend this place and will definitely come back.
