Used to be my favorite coffee place when I worked across the street. They reconfigured the space to be smaller, and the place wasn't large to begin with. They don't even have a bathroom anymore which has to be health code violation. Schmuck behind the counter told me to walk to Trader Joe's. I would've left if I hadn't ordered already. Coffee took forever to come out despite only 1 other person waiting. Not nearly as good as it used to be either, and yet the prices are still high ($8 in this case). At that price point, this setup and the absolute lack of good vibes, fuck that shit. Plenty of other options nearby. read more

I stopped by here earlier today by myself for my morning coffee. When traveling, I like to hit up local coffee shops and on this day I happened to go to Seven Grams Coffee. For full disclosure, this was my second coffee of the day but I did grab it on my walk into the office. I had actually noticed Seven Grams earlier in the morning but it was still closed at that point. In any case, it's located on Charlton Street in SoHo and the storefront itself is somewhat small. Inside there's a clean, modern setup with some seating and a display case loaded with yummy looking pastries. After looking over the drink options I ultimately decided on a cappuccino. It took about five minutes from ordering until I had my drink in hand and was on my way. Once I was able to taste it, I thought it was pretty good. The espresso here easily stood up to the milk and had a nice strong flavor. Then the milk itself was smooth and paired well with the coffee. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. I enjoyed my cappuccino and would be interested to try some of their pastries. read more

Seven Grams Caffe is located in a nice upscale area of SoHo and very close to where I was staying on my recent trip to NYC! They have amazing vegan savoury/ sweet options as well as coffees. I got a Cortado and my friend got a pumpkin scone along with Americano. Everything was delicious and so rich! I see Vegan options on the menu, and that itself wins my heart, this place although won a lot more (vegan) brownie points with it's taste as well ;) It's a very small cafe with limited seating. I did spot a couple of people working from the caffe and enjoying their coffee on a gloomy work day. I wish I knew about this place sooner but will definitely visit again when I'm back in the city! read more

The ambiance of this cafe is so nice, long tables with plenty of seating. I ordered a chai latte and the sizing is JUST right! They don't add too much ice either. The workers are so nice and patient. This den of decadence has no business being located right across from any hotel I'm staying in, but there we were. Oh, I was very familiar with those sinful vegan chocolate chip tahini cookies, believe you me, without a doubt the most incredible chocolate chip cookie in existence. And there I thought choc chip cookies were solid but pretty basic. Nothing I'd go out of my way for. Ha! Then Seven Grams goes and adds tahini and the mic doesn't just drop but falls through the stage and leaves a crater in the earth. Now the Seven Grams scone has entered the chat. They have a few varieties, but I decided on the seasonal cherry chocolate chunk. Stop it! Just effin' stop it Seven Grams! I've always had it bad for baked goods, but this scone has ruined me for life. It's got heft but doesn't leave you feeling like you ate a pound of... scones. The texture is the m-word in droves, slightly fluffy and just the right amount of sweet, luscious chocolate chunks. The sour dried cherries are chef's kiss and balance all that sweetness. True story: I was only staying in the hotel across the street one night but I went back the next day to get a second scone. They are that divine. And the coffee is pretty damn good, too. read more

The coconut offered some sweetness but I think the dark chocolate was a bit too intense. It costs close to $7, and the cookie isn't particularly large. Every time my husband and I are in NYC, I always have to end up stopping by Seven Grams. The chocolate chip cookies are so gooey and soft, and truly live up to the hype they receive. I also got the vanilla latte this time, which was really well balanced and just the right amount of sweetness. Previously my husband and I had tried the matcha, which was ok but not made the traditional way using the whisk (yes, we admittedly are matcha snobs and have high expectations when we order it). This was a nice coffee shop right by our hotel located in South Village. You can either order with someone upfront or order your drink/food at the kiosk which was easy and convenient to use. They have a variety of pastries that looked good, but I didn't try and also coffee beans you can buy. This coffee shop has a nice cozy vibe to it and it's not very loud which is nice. I ordered a vanilla latte and it had a nice balance of vanilla and coffee. Would definitely come back here to try the pastries out next time I am in New York. read more

I looooove this coffee chain. I think about their vegan chocolate chip cookies almost all the time. Why are they so good? Do they specialize in coffee, or cookies? I want to know. They have a range of flavors but my absolute favorites are the vegan ones (tahini olive oil chocolate chip, pb dark chocolate). They almost remind me of a vegan version of Levain cookies. They also have other pastry items that are great as well, and obviously coffees/teas. This particular location is on a quiet side street. I dont know what crowd it caters to, probably the people that work in the office buildings nearby since the neighborhood is neither touristy nor trendy. Either way it's great if you want to avoid crowds and lines. read more

Another great neighborhood gem of a coffee shop. As of the 2nd week of November 2020, they are still operating and serving drinks for take-out only. I ordered the oat milk latte here (in my quest to find the *best* oat milk latte in my walkable vicinity), and Seven Grams made me a very good latte. Great, balanced flavors - none of that hyper-acidic espresso stuff that other cafes nearby serve. Haven't tried the baked goods here. Back in town for a visit, Seven Grams is a welcome addition to this once barren wasteland off Varick Street. Right across from the Sheraton hotel, this little caffe offers simplicity in its baked goods and caffeine. If all the offerings are just like the perfectly flaky, buttery croissant I devoured, you can't go wrong. My americano was strong, but balanced. The quality of bean used here is excellent. Service was just as good, pleasant and welcoming but not too much so since it was so early in the day. The physical space is not designed for one to linger, and the music too pop oriented for my tastes- but that's beside the point: a proper cup of coffee with a perfectly executed croissant is.
