An unbiased review... Along with my cousin, we like to try different restaurants. She had never been to the Seven Stars Inn and wanted to check it out. We had been to the Seven Stars Inn in its heyday when the food and service was spectacular like 30 years ago. We had also been a few years ago when it was so-so. I followed the news last summer about the shutdown by the health department and about the reopening after things had been cleaned up. I was curious. Before we went I read the recent reviews and was alarmed, expensive with bad service and bad food was not very inviting. Just the same, I wanted to give it a try to see what it was like now. We were prepared to leave if things were not going well. We had a drink at the bar first. My cousin had an espresso martini which she said was excellent. My wine and my husband's mixed drinks were good. The bartender was friendly. We were told there was a problem with the heat upstairs so we were seated in the booths just beyond the bar. Our waitress, Michelle, was very pleasant and helpful and we ordered our food which came out promptly. Two prime rib orders and a lobster tail. The Prime Rib was enormous and cooked as requested. Tasted great and took home a huge piece. My cousin said hers was the best Lobster Tail she had ever had. It was rustic with a lot of deer mounts overhead but I can't complain, we had plenty of good food and good service. Glad we went and suggest you give it a try! read more

I went years ago and decided to go back last week! The service was great Josh was our waiter and absolutely no complaints there! It's a very very old building that being said nothing is updated inside or outside. It looks like you walked into the 1970/80s. The restaurant itself was FREEZING not sure if the heat wasn't working or just wasn't being turned on. I just wish some things were updated like the bathroom, floors, some of the furniture or wallpaper but I also understand it's historic! The food itself is good! We got the mushroom stuffed with crab and that was fantastic, the 2 pound lobster again it was great! The price is just higher than the quality of the food in my opinion. read more

I've been here a few times over the last 30 years and I always thought it was very good. The last time we went, we got sat in the basement. It took them forever to get to our table. We were using a gift card my parents gave us for Christmas. The food took about 45 minutes to come out, you our steaks were not done correctly and mine had gristle all the way through it. It was basically unedible. They took the gift card off the table and charged us for the full meal even though I sent mine back then they refused to give any kind of a refund. Twenty years ago this place was 3 stars at most. You were supposed to "call ahead" to reserve your enormous oversized prime rib. It was schtick. They always had plenty. The meat, back then, was meh. Flash forward to today. The restaurant has aged very very very poorly. The paint is coming off the walls. The ceiling tiles are stained everywhere. The carpeting is a stinky smelly mess. There is even plastic sheeting up, real classy like, in the hallway. The food is just awful. Dreadful. Shrimp cocktail ($19!) is five tiny shrimp on a small plate with limp lettuce. The steak was overcooked and unseasoned. The "cold water" lobster tail was overcooked and unseasoned. The accompanying butter was horrifically nasty. The creamed peas...oooh this one was our #1 pick for worst loser dish, has baco-bits in it. Yes, the artificial bacon substitute ftom our youth on the sizzler salad bar. Baked inyo peas. Chemicsl nasty! Lamb chops cooked well, just 100% unseasoned. Desserts are brought in. Please close this restaurant. Ooooh, forgot the bathrooms. They were down to one. Black mold on the walls. Door does not lock, so it is a tag team event with a look out. Someone had blown up thd toilet before us, so yay!!! Please close this restaurant. The owners are unwilling to clean it up. My husband pick Seven Stars Inn for his birthday dinner because he wanted prime rib. We were here over 10 years ago and things have really gone down hill. When you walk in things feel extremely dated and unkempt. There is a strange smell that's off putting when you are about to eat. It looks like nothing has been updated for 30 years. The bar was full, so they must have some Friday night regulars. The staff was very kind, very efficient, and seemed well trained. We were seated immediately. It's striking how big this space is, and how many tables they have. On a Friday night at 6:30 maybe 5% of them were full. When we sat down I was stunned by the prices. I travel all over and eat at top tier restaurants. To see a $96 prime rib on a menu at a place in the middle of nowhere was a shock. The least expensive entree was around $50. I have no issue with paying premium prices for excellent food, but this was average at best. The food is just as dated as the decor. Heavy sauces, overcooked entrees, salads from 1985. The food was fine, but for these prices I expect something exceptional. The drinks were good, as were the cheesesteak egg rolls we started with. We were told these were new on the menu. The entire place, including the menu, could use an update. There are plenty of other historic restaurants in the area with much better food. read more

Back in the early 90's, Seven stars was really nice. From the time you walked thru the door to being full upon leaving. What a wasted trip. when enter the restaurant, there's musty smell and seems like the carpets haven't been cleaned in a decade. The staff isn't as friendly as in the past. The bathrooms - I won't even comment on this issue. Last there on 12-13-2025: The waitress we had was very friendly, honest and made things very enjoyable. The food -for the most part- was done very well, but only because the old chef came back. What was not good: The prices were much higher than previously. For 20 years, this place was known for excellent food, large portions for a decent price. The main problem- the bathrooms were NOT functional. This is a legal requirement for restaurants in PA- to have functional facilities. If the owners ever review yelp reviews about their business- if you don't fix the bathroom plumbing, the health department / OSHA will force you to either fix it or close you down. Make the smart choice and get the bathroom situation fixed. read more

I just had great meal after old chief returned, and lobster was sweet and moist the prime rib was tender and tasty. The new England clam chowder was flavorful and to end meal took cake home was also great I enjoy the old steak house feel and staff is wonderful and helpful. I all most forgot maybe the best thing stuffed mushrooms with tender and sweet crab meat with generous amounts of both crab and hollandaise sauce and since PA is mushroom capital the mushrooms cooked so warm and not dried out and soft as perfect saucer to hold the crab meat. If you visited and not impressed the former chief back and I feel you will enjoy your meal this time. read more

We've been coming here for over 30 years and it was just sad. The food was inedible. Everything is drowned in bad hollandaise sauce, most likely to cover up the bland food underneath. My husband ordered stuffed flounder. I've never needed a steak knife to cut a piece of fish before. It was chewy and tough and the crabmeat stuffing was stringy. My filet was tasteless and mushy. The crabmeat on the side was dry, like it was left over from the all-you-can-eat crab night earlier in the week. Dessert was no better. Our banana caramel cheesecake was a rolled mess sitting in banana flavored instant pudding with dried banana chips. The only good thing I can say is our server Jen was great. read more

My daughter and I took my mom for her 68 birthday. We were so happy with everything, that we thought to share a wonderful review. First , it's a beautiful restaurant, it felt very warm and when you walked in we were greeted and immediately taken to a beautiful table. Next , our waitress, was amazing. I'm struggling with this review. If I could give 3.5 stars I'd be happier with that. We made a reservation via Open Table. There were no issues. When we arrived we walked in and headed to the hostess. The ambiance was just off putting to me. Dim lighting and a bar right as you walk in with a sports game on the TV. It just did not go with the whole restaurant itself. Then there were staff gathered around the bar watching the game here and there. It was just off for me. We sat and waited to be seated since the other 2 guests go our party had not arrived. We opted to be seated about 5-7 min before their arrival. Our waitress was great. She get our drinks and appetizers. The food was so expensive. I was expecting it to be expensive but, almost $20 for a shrimp cocktail, $80 for 32-40oz prime rib, just shy of $100 for each of the lobster items on the menu. I know covid and all but part of me wondered if they were taking advantage of the whole covid thing and charging more than necessary. The food was good. My lobster 15oz tail from South Africa was cooked perfectly! I loved having a butter warmer while eating. The dessert was also good. The carrot cake was my favorite. My family loves Seven Stars Inn, but I'd consider it just an average steak place. The ambiance is what you'd expect from an Inn with deer on the wall, and other large items on mantle pieces throughout the establishment. While I think the food is overpriced, the service you get at Seven Stars is excellent. From start to finish the servers are attentive, give great suggestions, and just all around kind people who enjoy a good laugh. The meals are family sized portions so your getting the bang for your buck. From the NY Strip Filet Mignon, everything was huge. I just wish there was more depth of flavor. I got the Triple Shrimp which was solid. My favorite dish was actually the Crab Bisque. Add a little pepper and it was a home run hit. read more

Was there two Sunday's ago. I have dined here at least a dozen times since 1977. Third owner since Pupek's owned it. I was here two years ago when the 2nd owner owned it. It was great. Had the over 20 OZ Lobster Tail and it was delicious as ever. My friends had the Prime Rib and the Seafood Combination. They both loved their entrees. Ambiance still wonderful inside. We have been here many times over the years. Once again for us it was a fabulous evening. The staff is very friendly. The food is over the top fabulous. Our waiter tonight was one of the best we have ever had and his helpers were great. They worked as a team as there was a large party elsewhere in the restaurant but they kept us all happy. I would have given one star but the bus people saved the day. They were the highlight of this awful experience. Place has gone way down hill since my last visit 13 years ago. Bus service was only good thing. Wait staff was spread too thin. Hostess is terrible. Two disabled people in our party and they were sorry they had to make us walk all the way to front of the restaurant just to be served flavorless slop. I'm sorry too. I've seen better food presentation in a pig trough. Snapper soup was just terrible. I don't know what it was but it wasn't snapper soup. They smother everything in hollandaise. They must buy it by the 50 gallon drum and go through that much every night. Stuffed mushrooms came covered in it even though I said on the side. Pork chops had no flavor at all. Duck the same. Veal Parm used to hang off the plate. Now it reminds you of the Where's the Beef commercial. Such a small portion!!! Came with sauce on it despite being told to put on the side. My husband and I went to celebrate our 30th anniversary. We had not been there in awhile. The meal was excellent. I had the twin lobster tails(lobster is my favorite)and my husband had the veal. My salad was excellent with a delicious raspberry vinaigrette dressing. Hubby had the soup. (It was either crab or lobster bisque, not quite sure ) but we shared and it was delicious! Importantly ( knowing the food was superb is most important however ) the server was Fantastic! Michelle went out of her way to make our evening wonderful and it was.She was attentive and caring and before we left she brought us a little dish of wonderful ice cream( it was delicious, we were full but couldn't stop eating it) with a candle in it. I've gone here off and on for the past 35 years. Talk about price gouging! I've never seen prices like they have now on the menu. We took my parents and they even said prices have literally doubled in the past few years. And, to add insult to injury, there was some sort of service fee added to the check that is NOT for the server. We were told it's to help off set costs - the prices are HIGH and more than cover the food. With all that said, even with the insane and unacceptable pricing, the restaurant was full, the service was good and the food is consistently good. It's a shame. The Seven Stars everyone use to know is no longer. The prices are out of control. I'm fine with paying top dollar for good food but this over the top. Chicken Parm $49? The place looks like it has been updated or cleaned in years. I almost tripped coming out of the ladies room for the carpet was torn and they had duct taped it down. My husband said that the men's room had a trash bag over one of the urinals. So the Ambiance again does not match their prices. I had seafood combo and it had no flavor for $68! I will say our waitress was wonderful but took way too long to get our entrees. So unfortunately we will not be returning. read more
