Went to see a car listed on CarGurus for 7995, I liked it and confirmed the price as "$8000" with a…read moresalesperson. The next day I went back to start the purchase process. I returned the third day having obtained insurance and other records. When I arrived the female manager told me they were "giving" me the extended warranty. When I read the contracts there was a line item for $2,000 for the extended warranty and the price of the vehicle was now $10,800 making my $7,995 car $12,800. I said "who asked for the extended warranty?" She told me "The finance company requires it because it's an older vehicle, and they find that when people are paying for repairs, they don't make payments" I said "Ok that's the most absurd thing I've ever heard, but let's table that for the moment, let's move to the price". They looked confused, they said "the price was $11,500 we knocked it down to $10,800 for you" They showed me on online listing for $11,500. I pointed to the salesman who I had seen 2 days earlier and confirmed the price with and he looked like a deer in the headlights and kept his head down mostly. I went outside to clear my head. I went into my email and found the actual listing for $7995. Then I called the finance company who told me that they would not require someone to purchase an extended warranty. I put the finance company on speakerphone and went back into the dealership. "The manager went into the bosses glass walled office for 2 seconds and came back out and said to me "Oh, you're right they don't require the extended warranty on THAT vehicle". I said "no, no.... They don't require it on ANY vehicle so let's not do that". Then I pulled up the actual listing on my phone for $7,995 and presented that. I really needed the vehicle or else I would have just walked out in the first 2 minutes. Finally, they removed the $2000 extended warranty and changed the price back to $7,995. I'd say if you wanna buy a car here, just be careful and don't let them bully you. If you want to buy a car there, let me know and I'll go with you. This place is why car lots will soon be a thing of the past and online models like Carvana, and Carmax, along with independent car brokers will be the norm sooner rather than later. One star here is ok, because I do like the car. The front headlight is out which they offered to fix, but, how do you sell a car with a headlight out ? Whacky stuff. At the end of the day I got what I wanted. Here's the thing though, which they will never understand unfortunately, I brought someone with me that day, who is looking to purchase a used car for their 16 year old son. When we walked in, he picked up a business card, when All this was going down, he put the business card back!! See, if you just operate honestly, your business will grow, when you don't, it shrinks... that's just the facts. They effectively turned 2 repeat customers into 0 repeat customers in one hour. I hope someone there learns this lesson at some point. Also, if you just put the price of the car on the vehicle while it's on the lot... but they don't so they can manipulate the price whenever they feel like it.

No beating around the bush or changing things on you. After we agreed upon a price and trim level, Rob ordered it for me and we picked up our new vehicle. It's very nice and I thought he did the best he could on the price, we were very happy with Rob and even Tom the Sales Manager. That being said, my only gripe was the finance department. We got another gentleman, also named Tom. While signing the paperwork I explained to Tom that the price was different than what I was quoted by Rob, all in. He glossed over it and explained there was a delivery fee, however that was already built in to the price. I realized after taking the car that the fee was doubled up on to the tune of around $1,100 or so. After numerous calls to Tom, the finance guy, he finally sent a payment to my bank to remove the incorrect overcharge. Mind you, I had to get Rob and the Sales Manager involved for this to be remedied. I was not pleased with this portion of the transaction, but the sales part was great. Rob A. Got me everything he promised and kept his word. Just keep an eye on the final price and what the finance team puts on your paperwork. A mistake or oversight, whatever it was, it was extremely frustrating and I probably paid a little out in interest on his wrong final price during financing.

While we were en route, he guided us through the application, credit check, and income verification process over the phone, making it all very smooth and convenient. Cons: Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this dealership overall. I believe they engaged in a bait-and-switch tactic. The price quoted to us online and over the phone changed once we arrived, with additional conditions that were never disclosed beforehand or listed online. So I believe, they do deceptive marketing. Additionally, they initially lowballed our trade-in offer by $3,500. It was only after we showed them a competing offer from CarMax that they increased their offer by $2,000.

Prior to my visit, she provided the Carfax reports and confirmed that both vehicles were available. Based on that information, I made the 45-minute drive from the Bronx to Long Island, paying for gas and tolls along the way. Upon arriving, instead of being shown the vehicles I came to see, I was repeatedly pressured to complete a credit application. I explained that I wanted to inspect the vehicles first before discussing financing or submitting any personal information. Rather than honoring that reasonable request, the staff attempted to redirect me toward two completely different vehicles that I had never inquired about and had no interest in purchasing. After standing firm and again requesting to see the vehicles I had specifically made the appointment for, I was eventually informed that neither vehicle was actually ready for sale. Had I been told this before making the trip, I would not have wasted my time, gas, tolls, or nearly an hour of travel. Confirming that vehicles are available, scheduling an appointment, and then revealing upon arrival that the vehicles cannot be shown is unprofessional and misleading. The continued pressure to complete a credit application before even viewing the advertised vehicles only added to the frustration. I cannot recommend doing business with a dealership that operates this way.

Bought a 2005 Dodge Stratus from them 2014. Overall the car is still running and reliable. However,…read morethey lied to me about the water pump and the timing belt being "brand new". The car had 102k miles on it when I bought it. I had to buy new tires ($600), replaced the water pump and timing belt after 3 months of having it ($800), and there was a crack in the windshield the day I bought the car which I didn't see until I got home. The first couple days I had the car I had to keep jumping the battery. They replaced it. When I went to pick it up, the car was dead. They sent it back to the shop where their mechanic couldn't figure out what was draining my battery when they put a new battery in and the alternator was good. After the third time the car was sent back to the shop, they still couldn't figure it out, so I asked them to take it to my usual mechanic and they gave me a hard time about it. Per lemon law, the car had the same issue 3x in the first 30 days of ownership. I told them I have to return the car if it can't be fixed. They agreed to cover the costs of my mechanic figuring out and fixing the problem. He was able to solve and fix the problem, and I haven't had any battery issues with it since. 5 Star Auto handled the costs and made the frustrating experience easier. The one thing I felt was they were charging me too much above retail value. I have to say to this day I still feel like I should have paid less (at least by $800 for the water pump and timing belt), but it's been a few years of this car being very reliable since having those parts replaced. I've only had to do regular maintenance on the car (oil changes, brakes, etc...). I walked in there with one thing in mind, a car that gets me from point A to point B, and this car does exactly that. The beginning was rocky, and the transaction just never felt right, but I got a very reliable car out of it.

They listed a car for $20,691 in one ad and $19,995 in another, but in order to receive the advertised price, you must agree to pay $1,600 of completely bogus fees. They tried to charge me $700 delivery charge, when the car I was interested was actually the owner's vehicle. The other $900 fee is to detail the car and prepare it for sale... which anyone selling a car has to do to prepare it for sale condition anyway. Even when I agree to pay their bogus fees, they then said the only way one can receive the advertised price is to finance through them at a minimum of 12% APR, for which one does not qualify unless they have a 760 credit score!!! lol With any score under 760, according to the owner, the rate can be 15% or higher!!! After checking my credit, they told me I have 660 credit score, which I know for a fact is above 700... when asked to fax me a copy of my credit report that I authorized them to check, the owner replied to not tell him how to run his business and that the only way I can get a copy is to drive to their dealership (which is over 1 hour from me)... apparently they have not graduated to the fax/electronic age! Anyone seriously thinking of buying a car from them, think twice, three times, and four times.... they will rip you off on every step with shady math, hidden fees, and dishonest advertising. In addition, owner and salesperson were rude and act like they are doing you a favor by even talking to you. I would avoid this dealership by a 3 block radius!
