The staffer was very informative about the Menu and easily answered my questions. She quickly made beautiful sandwiches that are offered with chips and drinks a la carte. There is a cozy patio that will seat 6 to 8 people on the side of the restaurant. There are umbrellas on the patio to protect you from the blazing sun while you eat. Driving down San Fernando Road at the end of the Burbank Airport runway I found Seventeen Cafe. It was lunchtime and the patio with umbrella covered tables was inviting. The menu includes and array of sandwiches, salads, and soups all of which sounded tasty. I chose the chicken salad sandwich with a side order of the stuffed grape leaves. The woman behind the counter was very friendly and welcoming. The patio turned out to be well shaded and surrounded by a fence with a privacy screen which made this open air space feel very nice. The sandwich was made with fresh multigrain bread. The chicken salad was yummy accompanied by tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion, pepperoncini and lettuce. All of the veggies were crunchy and fresh. So good! The stuffed grape leaves (always have to try the stuffed grape leaves when they are on the menu) tasted home made. The kind you would get as part of the offerings at a big family celebration! Yum! I loved my first visit to Seventeen Cafe. If I am in the area in the future I will definitely navigate here for lunch or just a quick snack. So glad I stopped by today! read more

Seems my review is going against the grain, but it is what it is. I ordered a vegetarian breakfast burrito. Description: scrambled eggs, cheese, green peppers, tomato and red onions. Nope. Wrong. Incorrect. Don't believe the hype. Instead I got scrambled eggs, MAYBE cheese, red peppers (no issue with different color), red onions, cabbage, pepperoncini, and lots and lots of arugula. There may or may not have been tomatoes in there. Usually veggies in a burrito are not crunchy. They're cooked and mixed in with the eggs. Nope, not in this burrito. Everything was crunchy. And let's talk about the obvious... arugula? Pepperoncini? Cabbage? Who sat there and decided these were a good idea for a burrito? They completely ruined the burrito in taste and texture and I'm simply not belonging. Absolute burrito sacrilege. If they added spinach that would have been acceptable but not crunchy lettuce! Taste-wise, same disappointment. No flavors jumped out at me whatsoever. I had to add Tabasco to get some flavor. Otherwise, bland and crunchy and not pleasant. Seventeen cafe is a little piece of heaven in an unexpected location. The cafe is in the middle of an industrial area in Burbank with unpaved roads in some portions which can make parking tricky but the visit is totally worth it. As soon as you step Into the cafe, you forget the hustle and bustle going on outside. The two women running the front counter are very sweet and quick to prepare your order. I tried the tuna sandwich on wheat with everything on it and a cup of their lentil soup. All of it was fresh and delicious! I highly suggest sitting in their small but shaded patio area, full of beautiful succulents! We left the Burbank airport on our way to the bellybutton of California. I mean Bakersfield. We were hungry and wanted something on our way to the freeway. Low and behold, I found Seventeen. We navigated our rented minivan, Darlene toward the location. My coworkers started questioning my ability to choose the food places as we weaved through a residential/commercial hybrid neighborhood. We finally ended up at a small, yet adorable spot. The succulent game is strong here! We sat on the adorable, small patio outside. Not good for groups and you should probably take it togo. Love the sides options (salad, fruit salad, and chips) and lots of standard soda/water/juice options for lunch drinks. There's parking along side the road and not difficult to find at all BUT be careful, only park where the dirt is leveled. I made the mistake of parking somewhere slightly raised and getting off that raised mound was not pretty. This "mom and pop" shop is very cute, from their large, paned, green, doors to the outdoor seating. The menu is pretty simple, they offer salads & sandwiches & iced coffee or hot tea. This cafe is tucked away in a row of uninviting facades in various states of neglect along San Fernando Rd. I don't know how these delightful ladies chose this space, but I am grateful they did. Sandwiches All the sandwiches are served on a fresh baguette - white or wheat. These baguettes are great! Crispy exterior but yielding to the bite. They are not the dense sourdough type that shoots all the meat out the side when you bite into them. I like the tuna fish sandwich. I do have to ask them to go easy on the mayo. They put a great assortment of lettuce and veggies on the sandwich. Side Salad They make a potato salad that has ground chicken and egg in it. I like it. They also have a really good kale salad that I often get. Breakfast Burrito This is not your typical heavy, potato filled breakfast burrito. This is light and delicious. I think the plants in the front give off a very fresh and natural vibe and the interior is very clean and modern looking. The side patio is very convenient and it's a nice spot to unwind a bit during lunch. I ordered a Black Forest Ham sandwich and I have to say it is quite tasty and I can't wait to try the other sandwiches and the breakfast too! I'm a big fan of local businesses and I hope this place continues to raise the bar far above most corporate franchises. Is it better than subway? Yes Better than Quiznos? Yes Why? I often travel throughout the San Fernando Valley for work. In between meetings, it's hard to find time to eat food and it's also hard to find places that offer gluten-free and healthy options for me at a decent price. I had to drive to Sunland for work today and decided to look on Yelp to see if anything caught my eye. I typed in "quinoa" and of course Seventeen Cafe came up. They have a plethora of salads so I decided to check it out. Upon arrival I was pleasantly surprised by the decor outside; a vertical succulent garden on each side of the door greets you and is aesthetically pleasing against the drabness that is Sunland. It's in a rough-and-tumble neighborhood across the way from the Burbank airport so it's hidden away. Inside it's clean, welcoming, and fresh. Most of the salads were premade and in already portioned out containers in a refrigerator that was also stocked with Perrier and several sodas, waters, and juices. This somewhat disappointed me because it meant that for $4.50 I was only getting a certain weight rather than having it be something more plentiful. The only thing I didn't get to check out was the outdoor seating. I didn't see any, which I thought was kind of disappointing. I saw in some of the pictures there is seating so I'm planning on going back. Check this place out for on the go sustenance. read more
