    Cobb Salad
    Julie W.

Super nice employees and so accommodating for our group of 10. They were able to break down our bill to 3 persons per tab. I had the Cobb salad. Tasted like a Cobb salad with boiled chopped egg, bacon, tomatoes, lettuce, meat and the dressing on the side. No complaints. Everyone else said their food was okay except the Chinese chicken salad had something missing. They couldn't figure it out. Ambiance was just fine. Good place for a casual meal. A grade above Denny's.

This is a very comfortable cafe. If we lived nearby, I could see us being regulars. The staff is very courteous and pleasant. We were given a lot of attention and our food came out quickly. My go to drink is iced tea and they make it well. All of our food was what you would expect from a cafe. The hash-browns were my favorite. We also had a Belgian waffle, Denver omelette and typical sides. The food made for a nice breakfast.

Grilled French toast combo with eggs and sausage

Classic diner in Burbank next to an Armenian church that was welcoming and provided terrific service from the moment we entered. We were there for a quick late brunch, and the combo grilled French toast with sunnyside up eggs and sausage, as well as over easy eggs with hashbrowns and sourdough toast. Everything was cooked and seasoned well. Also tried their cherry cobbler which was a bit too sweet but still tasted good. Service was attentive and friendly throughout our meal. Overall, an excellent experience!

    Loaded Tater Tots

I've visited this café three times with a group of friends, and each time the staff has been incredibly patient and accommodating. The menu is extensive--maybe even a little overwhelming-- offering your typical diner food. So far, I've only ordered from the breakfast section. The best plate for me was the breakfast burrito. If you try it, definitely ask for their spicy salsa (they won't bring it unless you request it, but it's worth it). On a recent visit, I went for the loaded tater tots, which I wouldn't order again. Terrible choice! I probably wouldn't come here on my own, but if I end up back, I'd like to try the waffles. A couple of my friends have ordered them multiple times, and they always look delicious.

Buffalo Chicken Salad -- SO GOOD!

Haven't been here in years but still the same cozy, diner vibes with kind service and delicious food. I got the buffalo chicken salad which was plenty for 2 meals and had all the flavors on a hot summer day like today. Michelada was very watered down almost immediately so minus one star for that - otherwise great lunch!

Went to Hill Street Cafe on a random Thursday and ordered the steak and eggs. Eggs were solid--asked for sunny side up, got exactly that. No complaints there. The steak though... asked for medium, and what I got was chewy, dry, and way past well-done. Felt like I was chewing on leather. Service was friendly, staff was nice, and there's a big parking lot which made things easy. But food-wise, I wouldn't come back. I get that it's a diner, but given the area they're in, they could easily bump the quality up a bit--even if that means raising the price slightly. Just expected more.

This was my oldest brother's place to go to. It was his favorite place. He brought my parents when he came to visit them. He also brought his coworkers after a long day out on the field or just for meetings. Hill Street Cafe is similar to diners that you are most likely familiar with. It does cater to the older folks but has something for everyone. My bro's go to was their Chinese chicken salad. The salad is huge and very tasty. At one point I would come just to get the salad as well. I've tried a good amount of items on their menu through the many years of coming. Everything is delicious (except breakfast burrito) but my main gravitation is their BLT (add avocado). I guess one simple thing about Hill Street is they have tatter tots. Its simple and for me its almost an automatic win. The service is great, the staff is friendly and I've brought my friends over to introduce them to having a meal with me at Hill Street. I do talk about my bro in memory of him and my father who loved coming here. If you have gotten this far, order the Chili Size. It is not on the menu no more but they will make it for you. Make sure they understood you as well. Last time they made me Chili Fries instead. Luckily they found their mistake and now I had both items, one was comped. ;) Parking: medium sized private lot VERDICT: Rinse and repeat

    Waffle with mixed berry

Hill street is always our go to when it comes to a breakfast spot that never disappoints. My usual go to are the chilaquiles but recently I tried out their waffle, with a side of water tots. The waffle was great but I would recommend getting the fruit or toppings on the side because it ended up making my waffle soggy in the middle. Parking is plentiful as there is a huge lot and there a ton of options for food and drinks to choose from. This is a diner style restaurant, but the serving staff are always attentive and friendly. If you are in the burbank area, this is spot you must try!

Some of the best pancakes that I have had in a long time. I was really impressed with this diner and thought it was a great breakfast. Burbank has a lot of great and famous diners so the fact that this one sticks out in a good way really says just how good this place is. Parking is extremely easy, they have a very large free parking lot attached. Our server Alena was extremely polite and super fast with everything. They have a huge menu filled with all sorts of options and they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I also felt pricing was fair and you get a lot in terms of portion size. For my meal, I chose the Eggs San Francisco, which is basically an egg scramble with bacon and cream cheese, and I also added avocado, which I feel was a great addition. We also ordered the Pancake Combo which came with thick and delicious pancakes that were truly fantastic. I get pancakes often and these were some of the best that I've had in months. Overall a great diner in a really retro and unique setting. They have a lot of different seating options indoors and I definitely plan to be back in the near future to try more items.

Breakfast burrito w/ sausage and bacon (added onion). Side of tator tots.

Our family of 13 came here around 1pm on a Saturday. Plenty of parking in their lot. We were immediately sat at a table near the back. The staff was very friendly, attentive, and accommodating. They offered a variety of coloring sheets for kids. The hello kitty Dodger sheet was a popular one at our table. While waiting for our food, we asked the staff if there were any more Dodger sheets. The lovely woman at the front said she can look for more and bring it to our table... and she did! Every time we come here, my bf swears by their crispy French toast. I always order the breakfast burrito with sausage and bacon, add onion, and a side of tator tots. So delicious! One of our servers saw that I was dousing my breakfast burrito in Tapatio and was kind enough to bring out a spicy Mexican salsa he thought would pair well with my burrito. He was right! It was spicy and slightly sweet, and was exactly what it needed! Shoutout to Adrian and our other male server (whose name I didn't catch) for great service as always. We will be back and continue to come here.

First, their cafe de olla is absolutely delicious. This remains one of the only places where I genuinely enjoy ordering cafe de olla. Second, their food is incredible. They serve excellent portions, everything tastes fresh, and the food is just so good. I've had their taquitos and chilaquiles, and both were delicious. The only downside is that every time I've come, there has usually been a bit of a wait, especially because the restaurant itself is pretty small with limited seating. The inside is cute, but small, so we usually end up sitting outside. This is where their Monrovia location does have the advantage because it has much more space. Parking can also be tricky. Good luck finding a spot close enough where you don't have to walk far. We usually end up parking in the residential area around the corner. That said, the staff are wonderful and always try to be as accommodating as possible despite how busy they are. Highly recommend this place if you're okay with possibly waiting a bit for seating. The food and cafe de olla are worth it.

My friend and I went into this Cafe De Olla on the 17th of this month at 2pm. She met me there and lives in Burbank. I have been here once, I believe back in 2018. It was pretty solid in every way. We were warmly greeted by Erick--the host, standing by the podium and right away he got us a seat inside. After like 5 minutes, Elsa, our server approached us to take our order. My friend and I both felt like we were being rushed through our meal. Food came out hot and quick. We opted for a few of their dishes. Tacos Mananeros, came with 4 tacos ($18.95), with 4 complimentary sauces. 2 of the sauces were very spicy and Elsa didn't warn us. We also got the Veggie Omelette with tomatoes, onions, spinach, mushrooms, Jack cheese, topped with avocado and a side order of hash browns. They made the hash browns perfectly. Told her nice and crispy on the top and that's what we got. (18.95). We also shared their French Toast topped with Strawberry, Blueberries, and Blackberries. ($16.95) topped with lots of Whipped Cream (which I love) and a side of syrup. We needed to add more syrup to make the French Toast more moist. The French Toast was a bit dry for our liking. Even the people sitting next to us who ordered the same thing were saying the same. On the flip side, the other 2 dishes tasted fresh and delicious. Great portions for the prices. We also got this drink called Powerful from their smoothies section of the menu. It was called Green Smoothie. Ingredients were the following: blueberries, honey, Greek Vanilla yogurt, avocado and Almond milk. It was simply very refreshing and delicious. My friend wanted some sort of Latte, Espresso, Americano, etc..but they didn't have any of those drinks. All they had was regular & decaf coffee. At first, I asked for Cranberry juice, and Jose, said they only had Apple and Orange juice. We found it a bit odd not to have any of those drinks. Going back to our server Elsa, she was a bit aloof and forgetful. I asked for a bowl of fruit, and it never made it to our table. After we were done eating, I asked for two to-go boxes and a bag, she forgot that too. We had to ask the other employees to get them for us. The same with to-go containers for our sauces. She forgot to bring napkins too. Jose, (our busboy), needs a raise and promotion! This young man read all the ingredients on the Taco menu which came with: bacon & egg, chorizo with potato & eggs, machaka/eggs, & nopaitos/eggs. The writing in their menu was very small. Another server by the name of Angel, truly was an angel. Checked on us while Elsa was taking orders over the phone. They have another location in Monrovia, a gender neutral restroom, place was very clean. Inside was small. It had 10 tables and nice couches with cozy, inspirational decor and pillows. Lovely music playing over head with a nice patio seating. Will I return? Yes, but not anytime soon! Also check for their business hours..

The steak was perfectly cooked and came with the "stubs" of several russet potatoes. I guess we got the short end of the stick there. There was a really nice herbed mayonnaise sauce that came with the fries and another very good (pistachio?) sauce for the steak. My wife's salmon was decent and came with some broccolini and couscous. But neither dish entered the "fabulous" category. It was my birthday and we were presented with a lovely and very generous dessert of a fudge lava cake and crème Brule. Nice touch! Luckily, the staff serving the food were cordial and pleasant. Kudos to them! The food served during cocktail hour was quite tasty. There was chicken, lumpia (fried egg rolls), and goat cheese served on small pieces of toasted bread. And that wasn't all -- we also had lechon, a whole roasted pig! When dinner started, we moved inside to the event room. The room itself was fairly basic, but the service continued to be good. Kudos to the staff there as well. Dinner started with Caesar Salad, followed by a choice of main course. I had the Salmon, which was quite tasty. The other option was a combination of Shrimp and Steak, which most people seemed to order. The gentleman sitting next to me barely touched his meal, and when his partner asked why, he said the steak was tough. However, I didn't hear any similar complaints from anyone else. One thing worth mentioning for anyone considering Castaway for an event: our reception included several dance presentations, but there was no private room available for the dancers to change costumes. They had to change in the hallway leading to the restrooms. There was a door separating that hallway from the main event room, but I still felt bad for them. It didn't rain on their parade, though -- they were happy and enthusiastic about their performances. Kudos to them, too! So, just an FYI if you're planning an event here that includes dance performances or other entertainment requiring costume changes. The ladies room was clean as well. Our hosts validated our valet parking, which was much appreciated. When we picked up our car later that evening, the valet attendant was pleasant. Maybe it helped that it was already dark and the temperature had dropped to around 85 degrees! P.S. Looks like Castaway was doing very good business that day (or maybe they always do!). There were a lot of people in the bar/restaurant area, and there were several other events going on besides ours.

We have been to this restaurant several times before, but unfortunately, our last visit completely…read morechanged our impression, and we will not be coming back. We made a reservation for 7:30 PM specifically so we could enjoy the sunset and celebrate a birthday with our family and children. Unfortunately, we had to wait for our table for more than an hour and were finally seated at 8:40 PM. We were with children, and they had to wake up for school the next morning. Despite the long wait, we were not offered a kids' menu or any complimentary gesture to acknowledge the situation. I have to say that our server was very kind and pleasant, but unfortunately, by that point, there was nothing he could do to save the evening. What was supposed to be a special family celebration turned into a very disappointing experience. Thank you for ruining what was supposed to be a special occasion.
