Can't believe it's been 4 years since we first came to Hill Street Cafe. But here we are - INSIDE at last! lol Greeted shorty after walking in and escorted to a table. Valerie came to say hello and get us started on beverages. After gazing through the menu I noticed the tostadas salad. I checked to see if they make their own shells and hearing yes, I ordered that. I appreciated that the shell wasn't loaded with wet iceberg lettuce. Instead, a highly nutritious load of DRY Spring Mix greens was the base. The salad was topped with a spoonful each of refried beans, sour cream, guacamole, grilled chicken (3-4oz), some chopped tomatoes, sliced red onions and finely grated cheese completed the array. A side of salsa accompanied the tostada. The salad was fresh and good, but the shell was a bit too greasy. I still ate the whole thing, so it definitely wasn't bad. Hubs went with bacon and eggs over easy with french fries as his "potato", buttered toast and coffee. He thought everything was delicious. Inside looks like the coffee house of the 70s/80s. Comfortable and familiar. Indeed, many people dining seemed to be regulars, sharing stories and family health updates . The staff never hurried anyone along and all in all it was a relaxing lunch. Super nice employees and so accommodating for our group of 10. They were able to break down our bill to 3 persons per tab. I had the Cobb salad. Tasted like a Cobb salad with boiled chopped egg, bacon, tomatoes, lettuce, meat and the dressing on the side. No complaints. Everyone else said their food was okay except the Chinese chicken salad had something missing. They couldn't figure it out. Ambiance was just fine. Good place for a casual meal. This is a very comfortable cafe. If we lived nearby, I could see us being regulars. The staff is very courteous and pleasant. We were given a lot of attention and our food came out quickly. My go to drink is iced tea and they make it well. All of our food was what you would expect from a cafe. The hash-browns were my favorite. Classic diner in Burbank next to an Armenian church that was welcoming and provided terrific service from the moment we entered. We were there for a quick late brunch, and the combo grilled French toast with sunnyside up eggs and sausage, as well as over easy eggs with hashbrowns and sourdough toast. Everything was cooked and seasoned well. Also tried their cherry cobbler which was a bit too sweet but still tasted good. Service was attentive and friendly throughout our meal. I've visited this café three times with a group of friends, and each time the staff has been incredibly patient and accommodating. The menu is extensive--maybe even a little overwhelming-- offering your typical diner food. So far, I've only ordered from the breakfast section. The best plate for me was the breakfast burrito. If you try it, definitely ask for their spicy salsa (they won't bring it unless you request it, but it's worth it). On a recent visit, I went for the loaded tater tots, which I wouldn't order again. Terrible choice! I probably wouldn't come here on my own, but if I end up back, I'd like to try the waffles. Today we went for lunch. Possibly the slowest, worst service ive had in a long time. Had to get up to ask for water to start. Had to remind them bout our coffee, they brought fries instead of rice. Then they don't know what desserts, you have to walk over to other side of resteraunt to choose. Took so long for them to take order, we skipped desert. Then another 10 mins to pay bill.. eventually we just stood up til they brought bill. Terrible, manager was lazy and useless. read more

I got the buffalo chicken salad which was plenty for 2 meals and had all the flavors on a hot summer day like today. Went to Hill Street Cafe on a random Thursday and ordered the steak and eggs. Eggs were solid--asked for sunny side up, got exactly that. No complaints there. The steak though... asked for medium, and what I got was chewy, dry, and way past well-done. Felt like I was chewing on leather. Service was friendly, staff was nice, and there's a big parking lot which made things easy. But food-wise, I wouldn't come back. This was my oldest brother's place to go to. It was his favorite place. He brought my parents when he came to visit them. He also brought his coworkers after a long day out on the field or just for meetings. Hill Street Cafe is similar to diners that you are most likely familiar with. It does cater to the older folks but has something for everyone. My bro's go to was their Chinese chicken salad. The salad is huge and very tasty. At one point I would come just to get the salad as well. I've tried a good amount of items on their menu through the many years of coming. Everything is delicious (except breakfast burrito) but my main gravitation is their BLT (add avocado). I guess one simple thing about Hill Street is they have tatter tots. Its simple and for me its almost an automatic win. The service is great, the staff is friendly and I've brought my friends over to introduce them to having a meal with me at Hill Street. I do talk about my bro in memory of him and my father who loved coming here. If you have gotten this far, order the Chili Size. It is not on the menu no more but they will make it for you. Make sure they understood you as well. Last time they made me Chili Fries instead. Hill street is always our go to when it comes to a breakfast spot that never disappoints. My usual go to are the chilaquiles but recently I tried out their waffle, with a side of water tots. The waffle was great but I would recommend getting the fruit or toppings on the side because it ended up making my waffle soggy in the middle. Parking is plentiful as there is a huge lot and there a ton of options for food and drinks to choose from. This is a diner style restaurant, but the serving staff are always attentive and friendly. But I decided to take a trip to the fancy part of town and there it was -- a glassy, barn-like diner with an awesome family-style menu. E-Z parking naturally, it's Burbank. Think breakfast pancakes and omelettes, lunchtime burgers and salads, and dinner specials -- that's Hill Street. Super friendly service with big booths. I had a great lunch at the Hill St. today. I ordered a fairly new item on the menu. I got Machaca and eggs and it was a wonderful dish. Our server was Adrian. He did a great job taking our order and bringing our food. The setting is very comfortable and I noticed that they have some new shades in that dining room room. Really classes it up. Some of the best pancakes that I have had in a long time. I was really impressed with this diner and thought it was a great breakfast. Burbank has a lot of great and famous diners so the fact that this one sticks out in a good way really says just how good this place is. Parking is extremely easy, they have a very large free parking lot attached. Our server Alena was extremely polite and super fast with everything. They have a huge menu filled with all sorts of options and they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I also felt pricing was fair and you get a lot in terms of portion size. For my meal, I chose the Eggs San Francisco, which is basically an egg scramble with bacon and cream cheese, and I also added avocado, which I feel was a great addition. We also ordered the Pancake Combo which came with thick and delicious pancakes that were truly fantastic. I get pancakes often and these were some of the best that I've had in months. Our family of 13 came here around 1pm on a Saturday. Plenty of parking in their lot. We were immediately sat at a table near the back. The staff was very friendly, attentive, and accommodating. They offered a variety of coloring sheets for kids. The hello kitty Dodger sheet was a popular one at our table. While waiting for our food, we asked the staff if there were any more Dodger sheets. The lovely woman at the front said she can look for more and bring it to our table... and she did! Every time we come here, my bf swears by their crispy French toast. I always order the breakfast burrito with sausage and bacon, add onion, and a side of tator tots. So delicious! One of our servers saw that I was dousing my breakfast burrito in Tapatio and was kind enough to bring out a spicy Mexican salsa he thought would pair well with my burrito. He was right! The service has always been top notch and they really take pride in providing a pleasant experience. The restaurant has a classic feel and is always very clean. I have been coming to this location for many, many years though different owners and actual restaurants. I remember coming here when I was young and it was a Bob's Big Boy. I had an AWESOME experience today at Hill Street Cafe! My husband and I tried this place with our friends who were visiting from out of state and it was an all-around great time. Maria was our server and she was SO sweet, made us laugh, and just had the best energy! She felt like family. We arrived around 12:30 lunchtime and didn't have to wait for a table, we got sat immediately. Our drinks were delicious (iced latte, triple berry mimosas and a PERFECT michelada). Our food came out super quickly and was excellent. The chilaquiles was phenomenal, especially with the added chorizo and avocado. The eggs Benedict were also top notch with perfectly cooked runny eggs and crispy hash browns. The place has a cozy, classic diner feeling to it and the service and food was made to match. Picked this place because it was right across from Woodbury University and we were there for a conference. The place seemed to be very much like a homey, old-fashioned American diner, and staff were friendly and helpful. Overpriced small portions do not recommend unless you are a senior then the prices are somewhat normal

They have different prices on the menu. so if you get a lower price from another higher price menu you have to pay the higher price. according to the waiter the lower prices are on the old menus but still have to pay the new prices even though you get an old menu with old prices. I spoke with the manager and he got angry with me. he said everybody makes mistakes. so why didn't they take the old menus. they are charging 2.00 more an item. the menus are still mixed with the old! read more

Came here one evening after a busy day at Universal Studios. This was very close to the hotel and not very busy that night. As soon as you walk in it feels cozy and welcoming. The employees were all polite and friendly. A gentleman (can't recall his name) took care of us, and was as nice as can be. He even obliged in my kid's silly banter. He even put up the picture she drew in the window. The menu was diverse and prices were very fair. Portions were generous. Everything tasted great, everyone was happy with their meal. Through ownership and menu changes, Hill Street Cafe has really improved in the last couple of years. Excellent food, and friendly & helpful waitstaff. They're more than accommodating to what you're looking for. The "south of the Border" menu items are a hidden gem: the carne asada is very tender and has great flavor. The chicken fajitas are delicious, not oily at all. (Ask for both salsa options.) Other items me and my diners have enjoyed are the biscuits and gravy, the chili, and the turkey dinner. Slightly expensive as Diners go, but it's not money wasted as the food is excellent. It's a relaxed vibe inside, not noisy, and (usually) not crowded. Looking forward to our next visit! read more

This restaurant has been a staple in the BURBANK area on Glenoaks for a long time . The standards of the restaurant are really going down though I cannot blame it on Covid. Covid shouldn't cause a lack of cleanliness. I want to have breakfast there this morning and the bathroom was awful and I don't know about you........ but if a place has a nasty bathroom it really makes me wonder about the kitchen and vice versa someone is supposed to have the job in the morning or before they leave at night to make sure that the bathrooms are clean they have toilet paper the trash cans are emptied and no one did that this morning and I think it was just Awful !!! Had some business to take care of in the area but was early, so decided to walk into this place. Its a time warp to the late 70s/early 80s in terms of decor and maintenance, but as I say in my reviews, I dont eat the furniture. Around 8am mid-week only a handful of customers, I sat in one of the old-school booths and ordered a santa fe omelet with toast and hash browns. It was very filling and tasty; loaded with cheddar cheese. The hash browns were terrific and crispy shredded, with the crispy top sticking from frying, the way it should be done. Coffee was also good and topped-off frequently. A nice hidden find and surprisingly very good food. Costed about 20 bucks and even had enough to eat next morning and tasted just as good reheated. read more

Hadn't been here in over 10 years. When I walked in the door I automatically wanted to leave but we were meeting friends. As I walked in, I was slammed by stuffy humidity. It was hot outside but worse inside. I asked about the a/c and was told it was on. A view from our booth was of an industrial size fan. The decor hasn't changed since they 1st opened. Our booth was torn and stuffing was in view. It was 6pm and the place was fairly empty. We ordered with out much wait. The food was adequate but clearly salad from a bag and frozen fries . The fries were a child size serving. The employees were friendly. The fountain drinks were $4.10 and we were not informed ..per refill. We could have gone across the street to 7-11 for much less. I miss good diners, this one is old and way out dated. I won't be back. read more

Oh man, where to start. How about the hospitality; I felt like I was with family. And the food... I suggest trying their chilaquiles with green sauce. They make breakfast all day. Just be sure to try their homemade salsa; it's not hot per se but does have a little heat. Lastly, the ambiance was great. I enjoyed the music they played.
