I organized a dinner for my friends for 4th of July at Severn Inn. It's $100 each bc you can see the fireworks from the deck and the have a buffet. The service was pretty good seating us and filling drinks, very nice. The salad buffet had shellfish including raw oysters and shrimp. My friends were excited they had shrimp but when they ate it they realized it was undercooked. We said something to the waitress and she said, it's a raw bar. We are no spring chickens and have had plenty of shrimp on our lives and we know it's supposed to be fully cooked. That was kind of embarrassing for me that I invited my friends and then the shrimp was undercooked and the waitress kind of gaslighted us about it. My only other complaint is there was no cooked vegetable on the entree buffet except potatoes. As a vegetarian I try to be really flexible and eat whatever but I was pretty disappointed they didn't have green beans, broccoli or asparagus. Severn inn, you should visit Toby's in Columbia. This restaurant has a Gorgeous location on the Severn River. An actual small beach, with the sounds of water breaking on the shore make a perfect backdrop for delicious food. The dining areas, inside and out are spacious giving our group ample space to spread out, eat and catch up. I apologize for the lack of good pics but I was STARVING! So I'll be as descriptive as possible. Starters included steamed shrimp (nice size) crab dip with the option of chip/cracker or soft bread. Both were delicious. Lox with chopped shallots and capers (yummy) and super fresh salads and fresh fruit. They also offered yogurt parfait. No time for healthy stuff. The main buffet included quiche, a French toast lasagna (think custard layered with fruit), baked, perfectly seasoned salmon with a corn salsa, omelets, waffles and chicken wings(again perfectly seasoned) or eggs Benedict ordered at your table. They also have beef, carved and in a potato hash. Whew, I don't know how u ate all this food but I saved room for the chocolate bourbon balls. OMG!! All of the servers were fantastic. Our server says she's been there since the beginning. She was great she even made fresh coffee- twice! It's a great place for a special occasion. This meal was highly disappointing for someone who cooks professionally. First, had shell pieces in my soup. The creamy crab soup was so thick it was hardly eatable. I enjoyed a dinner here for the first time with a group of 10 people. I ordered the soft crab. The flavor was good. The presentation was beautiful. I was shocked to find the gills (we call them deadman fingers) still intact. These are not meant to be eaten. The harder knuckles also led me to believe this may have been a paper shell. I come from five generations of Waterman on the Chesapeake Bay. We had shedding boxes and have processed hundreds of crabs. I emailed the restaurant directly, thinking perhaps they had someone new in the kitchen. I got no response. Three stars for the customer service. I'm not trying to be condescending at all. But again, the gills are not meant to be eaten. If nothing else, they can contain a lot of sand. read more

The view is fantastic. Spacious patio sitting with 2 decks. The sunset made everything better. Food is way too basic. I wish i could give this place more stars but 3 stars is just for the view. My coconut mojito was bland. The crab dip was literally a cheese dish. Why Bother saying "crab" if it's just cheese ? The baguette was excellent so scrumptious. I got the crispy pompano on linguini. I did like the fish: light and crispy but the linguine was awful: cheese clumped to the pasta and not much flavor to it. My husband got the miso mahi and he didn't like it. Kids menu was standard TFIfridays quality. I wish the food was better so I could come back or recommend it. We were pleasantly surprised. I wasn't sure where the restaurant was but I was impressed with the Fathers Day Brunch buffet menu I found online. When we arrived the staff and service was great. We were definitely not rushed and were able to sit and enjoy our meal as a family. Food: The buffet had a little of everything. If you wanted an egg item you simply ordered it through your server but everything else was available in the buffet. The price was about $55 per person, not including drinks, but considering the amount of top shelf items (crab dip, oysters, tenderloin, etc. ) they had on the buffet it was well worth it. Honestly, as great as the food was the view was even better!!! Like I stated earlier I wasn't sure where it was located until we got there but OH My!!!! The view of the Severn is the best in Annapolis. From almost every table you can look out onto the Severn River and all of the beautiful boats passing by. Across the River you can see the Naval Academy. We had seen this restaurant from the boat before but had no idea it was the Severn Inn! We will definitely be back!!! read more

My boss took us here for breakfast brunch on a Sunday. I love this place. The view of the water is fantastic. Be sure to sit either outside or inside by the window like I did. You can see the Annapolis Naval facility across the water. The assortment of food is unbelievable. There was shrimp, crab dip, sausage a meat station to name a few items. The egg dishes you have to order separately. Everything was delicious. I especially loved the sausage and gravy on a flakey biscuit. The coffee was even flavorful. I hardly had to use any creamer, it was just that good. After breakfast there is a glorious desert station setup by the front entrance. Very clever. You get to see all the scrumptious deserts before you eat your meal. I thoroughly enjoyed myself with the ambience and delectable food. I hope to be back here in the near future. I had heard pretty good things about this place so I was really excited to come here but if I could give it 0 stars, I would. First, they do not take military IDs nor do they take vertical driver's license so if you have either and you're trying to drink here, you better find another place. It is right across from the Naval academy so this was very surprising to me and my friends. Second, their food is just very subpar. I got the crab eggs Benedict with the home fries and I've had better. The crab cake was just okay and it definitely had a lot of tiny bits of shell in it, more than a normal crab cake should have. The home fries barely had any seasoning on it and it was just bland. I definitely will not be coming back here again and I was very disappointed to say the least. read more

This was on my Foodie Bucket List & it was a Date Night as well.. first of all this place is kind of in the cut by the water but no matter what time you come is fucking beaaaauutiful as hell..The customer Service is outstanding and our waitress was very knowledgeable on the different items , she often checked on our table etc how service should be! My bf and I agreed that it was a true chef back there in the kitchen and not a cook because everything we had was flavorful , seasoned well and fresh!! There was no after taste at all everything was clean and tasted as it should have!!.. it was definitely delicious!!!!!!!! . First time here and came with a big group. They were able to accommodate us and the service is very good. Since it was winter, you can't see the beautiful views of the water during dinner, so maybe next time. As for the food, well, it was just OK. Started with the cream of crab soup and it really lacked the rich flavor I was expecting. Sufficient enough crab, but salt/pepper couldn't save it....and it came out lukewarm at best. They have an interesting limited menu, from burgers, salads, tacos/burritos, and seafood. A place like this must specialize in great seafood, and since I wanted fish, I ordered a tuna burrito. Not my great decision-making moment, as the fish was pretty flavorless, as was the entire burrito. A side of salsa didn't help much. I did like their fries, although their ketchup was really sweet. Not sure if its homemade of some off brand, but they should switch to Heinz. They had some good sounding desserts, but by this time, I didn't want to be more disappointed. Usually checkout time for large groups takes forever, but again the service was great. They can handle separate checks very easily and the waitstaff even went around the whole table to make sure orders were correct before coming back with checks. Was able to pay quickly with the QR code on the check which works for both Google and Apple Pay (via Toast). Severn Inn is a great place to go to treat yourself or to celebrate a special occasion. The waterfront views are lovely. The food is decent, albeit a bit pricey. Service is consistently good. I came here for restaurant week recently and had the calamari (excellent) and the smoked pulled pork grilled cheese (okay but on the small side). Their fresh bread is heavenly. Reservations can easily be made through Open Table. Parking can be limited, especially during Sunday brunch. My husband set up a reservation for us for our Anniversary. We were seated right away. Great view! I ordered crabcake withOUT the bun. I was given the crabcake WITH the bun. They offered to take it back but I said no. I was hungry. My husband's dinner was so-so. Our server rarely came around and we felt he forgot us. We got our dessert but no coffee. Went with my wife and 17 month old on a Friday afternoon. Sat us in a corner table with a fabulous view and a brand new high chair for the little guy. Service from start to finish was great (I forget our waitresses name but she was great) food was fabulous - especially the Chopped Salad with Crispy Rockfish (which I think is seasonal) and the double crab cake entree. The mac and cheese - which we got for our son - was the unsung hero and it was also incredibly delicious. I gave a surprise party for my husband on December 18, 2021. From the first, Jami (catering manager) was pleasure to work with. She worked with me regarding big things like menu choices but also honored small things I requested down to opening the shutters to allow more light into the private room. The room was beautifully decorated for Christmas and setup exactly as I requested. Linda, Tony and Sea were amazing waiting on the tables and several guests actually commented to me how attentive they were. I have not forgotten the food. Everything was absolutely delicious. The passed hors d'oeuvres of Beef Wellington was an absolute winner I ordered the shrimp scampi for my entree and the shrimp were plump and perfectly prepared. I was told the tenderloin of beef was also excellent. My surprise party received rave reviews from my guests and oh, yes my husband was overwhelmed. read more

This past Sunday Brunch with my 2 adult children was delicious. Many choices. Our waiter, Kevin, was very informative and helpful with his suggestions. The bartender talented and her drinks were refreshing. All the staff personable. Food on the line was replenished rapidly. The spinach quiche and the eggs Benedict my favorite along with oysters on the half shell. I've never seen so many dessert offerings. Glad to see they were mini sized instead of the larger pastries. Bottom Line: Great waterfront location but pricey, average food. The Severn Inn has some of the best views of any restaurant in Annapolis but you pay for it. Crab cakes are $47 which I think is the priciest crab cake I've ever seen. Usually I see lump crab cakes for around $35. I skipped the crab cakes and went for the Ahi Tuna which was average. My husband really enjoyed his pork chop entree which is a new addition to the menu. The crab dip was good and I appreciated the basket of warm bread. The exterior of the restaurant is very attractive. The dining room is nice but kinda fuddy duddy. It doesn't help that Bette Midler's "Wing Beneath My Wings" was playing in the background. The bar was hopping and on nice weather days I'm sure the deck is jammed pack. I might come back for brunch or drinks, especially since this place is about 7 minutes from home, but I wouldn't do dinner again. For seafood with a view, I'll stick to Eastport. read more

Just came baccarat k from dinner and boy was it worth every penny! The deviled egggs and crab were probably some of the best I I've evEr tastted and my filet mignon was cooked a perfect medium. My daughter inhaled every morsel of her lobster linguine. I'm only critIcal feedback was the dessert. Hurray! This is a proper brunch. Bottomless mimosas & bloody Mary's. Oysters on the half shell, shrimp cocktail & crab dip with house made old bay chips. I could have spent the day here. The star of the show was the huge scallops topped with crab imperial. There are a lot of small desserts. While visiting family by Annapolis, this restaurant was recommended. It was a little hard to find. You take a sharp right after the bridge past the US Naval Academy. It sits on the Severn river with part of its outdoor seating extending over the dock. The views are spectacular. It is right across the river from the Naval Academy and is below the bridge with large rocks lining the shore. The staff encountered were all friendly though a little slow at times. The restaurant was not full, so we are not sure why the server was was MIA at times. Their was a large selection of bar items which took a binder to display. Huge selection of wines, some specialty cocktails and some micro brews. The food was very tasty. The crab cakes were all crab, very little filler if any. I had the daily special Sea Robin fish which was served on what appeared to be kind of like a crab bisque. Never had Sea Robin before, it was a nice tasting light white fish. The crab bed accompanied it well. Everyone at our table really enjoyed their food and drinks. Note though that it is a little pricey. But I guess that comes with the Annapolis location and river views. We would come back again. read more

I always remember this place, the view, the ambiance, the people! The servers were not always there especially during peak hours but they manage to be there when we need them. LOL. We stayed longer than usual because we dined al fresco and we never felt hurried. The food I'd say is not the most spectacular, they're the usual food you'll find in these kind of restaurants but this certainly has the view. For me, that makes the food enjoyable. Kids meal available too. With a backdrop of the Naval Academy Bridge and boat docks connected to the outsoor area, nothing could go wrong (except maybe the rain, although each table has an umbrella). There's a parking on-site and a walking-distance park where you can take another photo angle of the bridge and maybe take a rest with your kids. read more

Great view. Unfortunately the food has become bitter and the tastes are overall unappealing. I'm not sure what happened except they have always had unappealing items on their menu due to the flavors - always trending bitter - but now it seems even the dishes that used to taste good are tasting bitter or almost flavorless. For instance a traditional deviled egg would be far superior to their version. Even the crab cake dish has turned bitter. They really need new recipes and a menu that would appeal to normal palates. This review is for the catering/private event function for the Severn Inn. We have eaten there a number of times by ourselves, for lunch and dinner. Today, I was invited to a baby shower. The event was set up in the farthest room to the rear of the restaurant, which still has a fabulous view, especially on a beautiful day. The buffet was all the way along the inside wall, and there were a number of delicious food choices. I was really impressed with how lovely the set up looked. They had a big fruit, fresh veggie, and cheese tray first. Then some breads and crackers with an AMAZING warm crab dip. Then they had several options for make your own tacos, including grilled lime cilantro shrimp and a very tender skirt steak (really tasty), plus fajita veggies, rice & black beans, and a large assortment of fixings. There was a very pleasant server who refilled glasses and checked on every one often. There was plenty of room to sit at several long private tables without crowding or interfering with other diners. They had a separate table with cookies and sweets. If you are looking for a really lovely setting for a private party for say 25 people, do consider the Severn Inn. It's right across the Naval Academy bridge and sits on the beach of the Severn River. Our waitress was very nice and attentive the entire time. On the flip side- my party of 4 came here for Sunday brunch and were so disappointed with the menu. Nearly all the options are lunch foods. The only exceptions were the eggs Benedict, the breakfast bowl, and pancakes. There were lots of lunch entree options. I was hoping for more typical brunch options like French toast, waffles, etc... I ordered the Cubano which tasted good but wasn't anything special. I got a pineapple crush which just tasted like pineapple juice. It was tasty but it didn't seem like there was any alcohol in it and it definitely didn't feel like it had any alcohol in it after I finished. For $10, I would hope that my cocktail would have a little more than just juice. Also, they wouldn't take any of my friends' horizontal IDs. They had their military IDs (which are all vertical) and their drivers licenses to verify their age but they still wouldn't take them. TWO government issued IDs and they wouldn't take them. They're from out of state (as are most midshipmen) so they can't just fly home to Hawaii or Washington to go to the MVA and get new IDs. Next time we'll probably go somewhere else in downtown Annapolis for drinks because we've never had this issue anywhere else. It's a shame because this is one of the best restaurants for midshipmen right now since we're all looking for bottomless mimosas nearby and we're required to eat outdoors at restaurants. We gave them a lot of business this weekend because we thought they'd take all of our IDs but now that we know they won't take vertical IDs, I don't think we will in the future. read more

We decided to give Severn inn another try since our family had been going for so long. Another huge miss: the food is just really bad sadly. Way too much salt. We both got the swordfish with risotto. Both took one bite and didn't take another. On the plus side it's a great atmosphere. Maybe just go for pre dinner drinks and move on to another place for dinner. We really wanted to go back to having this as a regular spot but unfortunately we will not be back unless some changes are made. read more
