If you're looking for the freshest seafood to take with you to prepare at home this is the place. The store is very clean. The folks that work there are very knowledgeable on what they have for sale. Also will happily give you information on how to prepare any of it. We were in Destin for four nights and we were at Sextons all four nights picking out our selection for dinner. We also stopped on our way home from vacation and bought a cooler full of fresh seafoods to bring home. Just take cash..they do not accept cards..but they offer atm machines. Great place. read more

Sexton's is my boyfriend's mom's favorite place to get fresh shrimp and fish, and she knows her seafood! They had tons of shrimp (with and without heads depending on how seafood savvy you are) and other fish options. I've had many a shrimp boil with shrimp from this place and they are always delicious! They can package it for you to take home if you're staying locally, or they can pack it to ship and take home with you if you're heading home from vacation. read more

We visited the store to buy seafood to cook at the rental home nearby. The location is ideal but the service and staff are very disrespectful and rude. I would think a place located in the central part of the tourist town would be more friendly and kind to visitors. The seafood was nothing special and overpriced. The rest of the week we drove about 20 mins away to a remote seafood store simply to avoid dealing with the staff at Sexton and this location had more fresh supply. read more

Great fresh shrimp!! We purchased several pounds of shrimp with the heads on and the slap ya momma seasoning and went back to our condo and boiled it. It was very good and a great inexpensive way for the group to have dinner together. Ask to have the shrimp put on ice instead of purchasing a cooler. read more

Great fresh seafood....unfortunately the service was unsettling. The girl working actually sighed when we asked questions as if we were bothering her. Didn't smile one time. Roller her eyes when I asked for the smallest red snapper. Seafood was overpriced but that is to be expected in a tourist town. Very clean establishment with no fishy smell...I'll go back if I'm in Destin, hopefully the staff is taking customer service classes. read more

I gave them 2 stars because the seafood was no doubt good. Maybe I'm a rookie because we normally buy our seafood at Kroger but we spent 100$ on 2 lbs of crab legs, 2 lbs of grouper and a pound of shrimp. I felt like that was very high considering they don't steam it there. I would have payed 40$ for all that at the local Kroger. Needless to say I think that was a one time stop. While vacationing in Destin we were looking for some good food and had 2 locals recommend we try the crawfish at Sextons. We went there to get some and wow they were absolutely delicious! I have traveled all over and have never tasted crawfish as good as they have there. We went back the next day to get more and while there went in to buy fresh shrimp and had the guy steam them for us and they were equally as good. Would have loved to buy seafood for a crowd approximately 20 minutes before closing. Apparently they close when they want: we pulled at 6:40 and there was a lady locking the door. She says "we are closed but will open at eight am" ....REALLY!!!! read more

They win the prize for most variety of shrimp. prices aren't the cheapest really. it depends on what you get. it's not fair to compare apples to apples because the shrimp variety varies from place to place. the shrimp we got was good. I would have given four stars, but they're not as friendly or helpful as the place down the street. and there's not a lot of extras (spices, etc). the smell didn't bother me too much. it's a seafood market. it's supposed to smell. read more

We have been going here for years. Much better prices than Destin Ice and Seafood Market and way nicer staff. We paid $12/lb for jumbo shrimp at Sextons vs $18/lb at Destin Ice. Staff was very nice. There oysters didn't seem as fresh as they usually are, but were good none the less. They did not have Salmon when we were there...Cash only equals better prices. read more

Just picked up some Royal Reds at Sexton's and they are huge...12-15/lb with head on for $7.95/lb.!!!. The market is very clean and everything was well iced; it does not smell fishy at all. They had a great selection of shrimp and some really nice, fresh-looking fish...the trigger fish looked amazing! I'll post back on how the Royals turn out but if they taste as good as they look, I'm going to be one happy camper! Good customer service as well....they offer to put your stuff on ice. They do only take cash but there is an ATM (with a fee I'm sure) if need be. read more

Their product freshness and quality is superb as well as the service. So happy we come here and plan on making this our go to for fresh seafood all the time. We made the tuna sashimi style and the grouper filet grilled with lemon butter sauce. Dinner turned out better than going to bone fish grill for freshness and price. This was my first time going to this place and I was totally amazed. The products that purchased (snow crabs and shrimp) was extremely fresh and reasonably priced. we got a few lbs of shrimp and some different white fish.....one of which was amazing and referred to as "poor man's grouper".....also got some spices and such for the shrimp boil. fresh, fresh and fresh. in summary.....if you come to Destin...and go to a restaraunt to buy and eat seafood....you are an idiot. The fish was so fresh and absolutely delicious. We went back several times during our week stay. The Shrimp, Red Snapper, Grouper and Tile fish were wonderful! The blackened seasoning and BBQ shrimp seasoning is also amazing. Highly recommend! It is cash only. read more

Staff was so friendly and helpful! Great quality and prices. They explained how to cook and prepare everything we bought, even demonstrating how to clean and cut things. They answered all of our questions thoroughly and when we went out and caught our own, even had us come back and they showed us how to clean it ourselves. We were looking for some fresh fish to fry for a good dinner on our visit here. We bought two large red snapper. The building is very clean, prices are average, but I'm not sure how fresh the fish actually was. All of the fish had slightly cloudy eyes. We went around noon, so it is possible that the fish could have been caught early in the morning, but I think it might have been a day or two old. read more

My wife and our bodybuilding family eat a ton of fish. Holy cow they had fresh caught red snapper, grouper, tile fish and many other fish. At their recommendations on seasoning and these 3 types of fish was one heck of a series of best fish meal ever situations!!! We were tourists but a master BBQ grilling family. Sextons is always a favorite stop for us to get fresh shrimp on our way home. We stopped and was suprised to see they had crawfish. The guy even offered to cook some of our shrimp for $1 a pound. The shrimp and crawfish were so good we did not have any left by the time we got home. Wish we had have known about the crawfish while we were there. My husband loves them. Only bad thing is they only take cash so make sure you have cash before you stop. read more

Just driving back to Chicago and decided to pick up some fresh gulf shrimp for the family. Got 17 lbs of shrimp I pack of day scallops and couple of grouper heads for the Asian family soup lol . Couldn't been happier with the customer service. The three young ladies were super helpful in making sure our purchase stayed fresh with tons of ice for our 16 hr drive home. Smell of shrimp was so incredible. Never thought I would say that about shrimp. I had never smelled fresh shrimp like this before. Didn't know what fresh was until I bought here. The shrimp we buy here in California is stinky-- but I thought that was normal. Oh well, what can you do if that's the only thing we have here. The shrimp were really good, I paid a lot for large shrimp and half my bag were small shrimp. Watch what they are giving you closely.

The grouper was tasty but for 20/lb it should have been moving around on my plate! The price on the shrimp was great if I had eaten it... I threw all of it out. I did buy the special of the day so maybe my bad, but u shouldn't sell something with the belief of it being fresh! It did not smell right and the heads were way to easy to remove (indication of not being fresh)!! Best shrimp I have had is at the St. Andrews Waterfront Market.... bring a cooler, great shrimp & fresh vegies... well worth the trip!! read more

Sextons is our "go to" fish market in Destin. It's fresh and clean with many choices of great seafood. The shrimp is always excellent and the staff consistently friendly and helpful. They only accept cash and have two ATMs onsite. Can't miss, you won't be disappointed. read more
