I bought my Sirrus in 2010 and I'm guilty of not doing any proper maintenance since then (grimace)…read more There are a handful of bike shops in the city but traffic and parking have prevented me from doing so. I am so GLAD to have found this location by the powers of Google as it's very close to where I live and traffic/parking will never be an issue. Paige & Kevin are awesome guys, and I received great tips for keeping my bike in tip-top shape. I hopped on the bike the moment I got home and took it for a mini test ride around my driveway and I could instantly feel the difference from before. It's a brand-new bike all around!!! Super thanks to you all!

Recently, I've had 2 separate experiences within a week a week of each other. The first one, I was selling a bike on CL. A buyer living in Colorado asked if I could ship the bike and I was reluctant to do it. I suggested he call Specialized Bay Area to see if they can handle the packing and shipping of the bike, basically taking liability to get it shipped there. The transaction worked out perfectly where the buyer dealt directly with SBA on the shipping. Buyer Venmo'd me payment and received his bike in 3 days! Kudos to SBA for offering this service! The second experience. I was gonna go for a ride on the Levo this morning. Found a broken spoke. I texted the SBA and explained my problem, gave them a copy of my registration of the Roval wheels, and they said to drop it off any time. I stopped in @ 4pm on a Friday thinking to pick it up next week. One of the managers, Yoav replaced it on the spot, trued the wheel, lubed all the nipples, installed factory tubeless tape, all within 10 minutes! Best of all, the spoke repair was covered under warranty! Actually, the best of all was the staff were friendly and personable. :-) My bike was down for only a few hours! By far, the best experience I have had with a bike shop. I hope they stick around because I want I work here when I retire. Specialized for life!

The store was huge, full of merch and pretty much devoid of people. I headed towards the shoe department and spotted the pair I had seen online, although here they were not on sale. I figured I would ask an employee but there was only one working in the vicinity. There was a kiosk that I attempted to use but it did not even show the shoes in stock. I did not have all day to wait but I hung around for a bit longer by the entrance to the shoe stock room and an another employee finally appeared, said 'excuse me' and walked right by me without asking if I needed help. This is probably obvious to others, but if you want to get good service it's best to go to a smaller business! Or even just another large sporting goods store, of which we have several in the Bay. Dicks though, they live up to their name.

For starters, this is one of the most pretentious sporting goods stores I've ever visited. The ONLY…read morebright spot was the guy in the shoe department -- he was solid and actually knew how to treat a customer. Everyone else? Completely useless. They sold me a floor model with a broken box, and honestly I only took the shoes because I needed them badly for my recovering stress fracture. Otherwise, I would've walked right out, and here's why: They tried to deny their own promotions, acted annoyed when I pointed out the ad, and only honored the discount after I pushed back. On top of that, the pair was a floor model AND the box was damaged with a piece of hair inside it, and they still tried to charge full price. In the end, I got them to honor the $40 in coupons -- but the attitude, the snobbish vibe, and the lack of basic customer service was ridiculous. Thanks for the kicks, but you won't be getting my business in the future.

It's located underneath the gym next to the entrance to the soccer field. I've NEVER had any problems here but there have been a few employees I feel wouldn't have done a great job protecting my baby which worried me a little. For example: One time I was picking up my bike and the attendant was playing Guitar Hero. I walked up with my bike to the window and turned in my 2 matching tickets and signed out on the book. He didn't even look up. So, I stood there for a while until he said: "Hey Dude, I know I'm playing guitar hero but if you're trying to steal a bike right now, I will F*%$ YOU UP!!!!" I laughed and he said that there were camera's down there. I haven't seen him there since. Just as an added precaution, I lock my bike up now.

If you're trying to find it from the bookstore, just go toward the Burk Hall building, and make a right in between the Gymnasium and the Ethnic Studies & Psychology building. You will see an outdoor bike rack, just go through the parking structure ground floor and you will see it to your left. The staff are usually friendly every time I go. They have a little clock on the counter when you sign in/out now so you don't have to guess what time it is. Have peace of mind knowing that an actual person is always behind the counter, keeping an eye on the bikes. I always lock mine up (better safe than sorry) but if you don't have a lock, that's ok too (but at your own risk, of course). Bonuses: they also have a bike tire pump, just in case you happen to need it. No more wet bike because of the rain/mist/fog/whatever, yay! So glad I found this place!

I brought it to Barbary Coast and had a great conversation with George about what I wanted fixed, issues I was having, and solutions. George was very transparent about price and lead time on both parts and service. When I arrived to pickup my bike I was blown away by their attention to detail and quality of service. -Bars taped perfectly. -Drivetrain was extremely clean and silent, with perfect crisp shifting. -Wheels true. -Hubs rolling smooth. -Brakes bleed with a sharp bite to them. - They even took the time to scotch bright my titanium frame bringing it back to new condition. There were some parts I hadn't anticipated needing to change but George and the staff at Barbary Coast caught them and reached out to me regarding the issues. This shop clearly takes pride in the quality of their service and treated me and my bike accordingly.
