Pizza Quest -- Episode 6: Sgt. Peffer's Next stop on the quest was Sgt. Peffer's. I tried the Five Cheese and Hamburger slices, while my wife grabbed a Hamburger slice and the famous Chicken Florentine soup. The Five Cheese was the highlight for me. You could actually pick out the different cheeses in each bite, and the crust had just the right amount of chew and bounce to support all that topping weight. These slices are no joke either. They are incredibly filling, and by the end of the meal I felt like I had eaten a whole pizza instead of just a couple slices. What impressed me most was the speed. The slices come from a warming case, but the pizza moves so quickly that fresh pies were constantly replacing what went out the door. Everything still tasted fresh, and it was fun watching the steady stream of customers coming through the door. Although I generally get the same thing when we come here, and it's always to go, the food consistency and quality is always on point. I'm in-laws live up the street from this location and we often get it on game days or when we want a quick, yummy lunch or dinner. I get the chicken salad with either the veggie or Fab Four pizza. The orders always come out correctly and on time. The ordering process is seamless and I haven't had any issues with it. The food itself is good, nothing worth complaining about for sure but nothing too spectacular either. read more

I've been to Sgt Peffer's a couple times, Millard and Saddlecreek location, but my first time leaving a review. If you are ever in the mood for classic Amerian style Italian food this is the place! You order at the counter, take a number, and they bring your food to you. They have a lot of different options from salads, pasta, pizza, etc. My husband ordered the manicotti and I had the seafood lasagna. We both enjoyed our dishes and I loved the lasagna! We ordered pizza bread for our kids but they were not hungry from eating a lot of sugar at a bday party prior so my husband and I ended up trying it. The pizza bread was okay, I think they should use a different, thicker slice of bread. Speaking of bread don't miss out on their rolls, they come with all the meals! I've only tried their white rolls but they have honey wheat as well. They are so big, fluffy, and delicious. If you come at lunch they have cheap lunch specials. My parents recently moved here from California and Sgt Peffer's (Saddlecreek location) is their go to spot for lunch because of the delicious, cheap food! Definitely a steal! read more

I tried their pizza after Sortinos closed down. It is excellent, and very tasty, much like Sortinos! We have a new favorite pizza restaurant! Mother tells me that their pasta is always excellent. There are two Sgt Peffer's locations, one off Saddle Creek and one in Millard. We have been to both and both are excellent. Last week, we ate at the Millard location. We were promptly greeted when we arrived, and asked to order at the counter when we were ready. I ordered the seafood lasagna and my husband ordered the meat tortellini with Alfredo sauce. All meals come with Italian rolls and choice of soup or salad. We both chose soup--I got the minestrone, and my husband got the chili. Our server loaded a tray for us with the soups and rolls and told us our pastas would be brought out to our seats. We chose a booth, but there are tables as well. All are covered in cute checkered tablecloths. I loved my minestrone and my husband enjoyed his chili as well. The rolls are rather large and dense, good for dipping in soup. When our entrees came, they were still bubbling, fresh from the oven. The seafood lasagna was rich and creamy. I planned to eat half and take half home, but it was so good, I wound up eating all of it! My husband did the same with his tortellini. A couple days later, we called the restaurant and put in an order for catering for Christmas Eve. You can order half pans or full pans of their dishes. We got half pans of lasagna, cheese ravioli in Alfredo, and meat tortellini in Alfredo. We easily fed our 16 guests, and had leftovers for a few days as well! read more

My favorite is their chicken florentine only available on Fridays, first come, first serve, til they run out. It is sooooooo good! We got our food to go and we both were seriously disappointed. My wife's lasagna was totally smothered in tomato sauce, no cheese on top and very, very little cheese in the middle very tasteless. My spaghetti with meat balls was totally tasteless also, the sauce was very thick and dried out and the meatballs were more tasteless than the sauce. I have been a fan of Sgt. Peffer's for over 15 years. My first job out of college always used to get catering from the Saddle Creek location. I have dined in and ordered take out from the Millard location. This one is showing its age a bit, but when ordering takeout on a Friday night they were able to turn around the order in 20 minutes. The food was still hot when I got home. My go-to meal of choice is cheese tortellini with alfredo, but over the years I have enjoyed pizzas, a variety of pastas and sandwiches. Tried to give this place a try again tonight. Still very underwhelming. Last time I tried the chicken parm.... the chicken was not crusted, just sliced up chicken on pasta no cheese melted on top and red sauce very acidic tasting like it was tomato past thinned out with no seasoning. Tonight thought I'd try lasagna. Before ordering I asked the employee at the counter if you used full sheets of lasagna making the dish, she said yes. I thought ok, great. Got the dish, no meat in it as described on the menu, no cheese, purely just the sheets broken into pieces probably about 8-10 chunks drenched in the same acidic unseasoned sauce with no cheese in the dish to be found. Last time I checked lasagna is layered not tossed in with a 1/2 full bowl of sauce. No mozzarella on top as the employee stated there was. Another item to not was the roll that comes with the soup / or salad. Another employee who got that part of the order together asked if we wanted a warm roll, yes please! He grabbed a roll out of the warmer where they are typically warmed to perfection and squeezed the roll and it appeared hard. He then grabbed a different roll from a tub full of rolls on the bottom shelf of a stainless steel work table. Warmed it in the microwave and brought it to the table. Roll had a tough crust to it as you get from only warming breads in a microwave. I will not be back to try this another time. Perhaps you could get some recipe help from Romas in Bellevue, where the food is great. Chicken parm is the best. read more

I was looking for spaghetti - tried to other places and they were too full so I ended up here. The person taking my order was very patient and kind - I wasn't thrilled with the spaghetti I got to go from the other store a few weeks earlier as I had asked for extra sauce and it didn't happen. Well they did great here tonight. My problem is that I didn't really like the sauce - it's good and most would probably be happy with it - I would have liked it more if it was a little sweeter. I love the food I get from here, and the only reason I am giving the 4 stars instead of 5 was the cleanliness. Love visiting Sgt Peffers! The food here is always fantastic and the customer service has a usually on point! The small restaurant feel is fantastic and the prices at just right. Waste of time driving here. Website says the Millard location is open till 9pm. Showed up and the half awake kid employee said they just closed. It was 8:01pm. Mentioned the website said 9:00pm and he said "it does, interesting". And onward to another restaurant we go to spend our money. Call before going to make sure they are open. I've always liked this place and it's always a nice spot to go to relax and get something local.

I ordered a grilled chicken salad that has large portions of marinated grilled chicken breast, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, & black olives all mixed together over a bed of spinach & lettuce greens with a side of homemade vinaigrette dressing & a large fresh baked roll that's light & fluffy on the inside! The chicken mix flavor is so flavorful & tasty-then topped with a little dressing it's Delicious!!!! Next time I'd order the 1/2 salad because it's simply too much for me to eat at once, but I did take it to go! The restaurant is clean & service is fast. I called this store to verify an online order I placed because the door dash driver did not bring the correct items. I was rudely told, "Call door dash it's not my problem". I asked how many pieces of garlic cheese bread were in an order because we only received one piece. The man then accused me of lying?! When I asked for a manager he said it was him. 2nd stop on our pizza tour of Omaha. It was pretty good. It wasn't the best. We got the prime cut pizza and the 5 cheese. The prime cut was great. The 5 cheese was ok but not the best. We ordered the meatballs and a the mozzarella sticks. The meatballs were awesome and tasted amazing. The mozzarella sticks tasted like they were frozen and weren't crispy at all. Overall it was like I said pretty good. I definitely wouldn't come here for pizza though. The prices were very affordable and it is pretty good. Would come here again though. read more

Judging from the other reviews, I must have gone to some sort of Sgt. Peffer imposter, perhaps some fool named Sgt. Pepper that I just didn't notice, because the substance I was served here does not rate above le Mac Do. Our order of cheese bread was literally two slices of bread with a slice of cheese on each. I suppose "cheese bread" shouldn't exactly fill someone with expectations of gourmet cuisine, but it still managed to disappoint. To make the side salads, I suspect the staff simply open up a bag of grocery store pre-mixed salad, throw a single portion in a bowl, toss the bowl in the fridge for the day and just whip it out when ordered. To have salads that don't stack up to a basic salad bar is just... boo. We both had pasta, one order of the "sampler" and one basic chicken alfredo with linguine. Neither was good enough to finish. The sampler pasta tasted like it didn't completely get unfrozen and was completely overpowered by the canned tomato sauce. The linguine, on the other hand, was coated in a flavorless alfredo that had a much stronger effect on my stomach than on my taste buds. It's not too expensive... 25 bucks bought us two meals, two drinks and our two-slice-of-wonderbread "appetizer," but for the quality of the food it's not exactly a fantastic deal either. I guess for an order-at-the-counter mega-casual italian joint it's capable, and my problem could simply be that I was naive enough to go for the pasta instead of a sub or pizza... but I won't be back to test that possibility. Love that the lunch specials happen on Saturdays and Sundays as well as the weekdays. I had the two pieces of pizza and a drink and ordered a side salad and the meatball chunks. The good: Pizza slices were huge and delicious. Great flavor! Meatball chunks portions were large for an appetizer! House Salad dressing was awesome per usual. Not so good: the drink was so tiny. Side salad was full of yellow ends of the iceberg. Just wish it would've been a little greener. Overall great experience with calling into order and picking up. I arrived here with a friend at around 6-7pm and ordered a Five Cheese White pizza, and my friend ordered a combination pizza. After about 10 minutes or less, they brought out the pizzas. The pizza tasted old and reheated, my friends pizza had hard cheese; which usually implies it's been sitting a while. Nothing here looked clean or modern, it was dark, dreary, damp, and the bathrooms were in disrepair. The red benches are uncomfortable to sit in and hard to get in and out of. They also have a strange underwater mermaid theme going on, no idea what's up with that. 4 hours after consuming this pizza I was hunched over the toilet projectile vomiting while simultaneously having a gastric explosion comparable to the Krakatoa volcanic eruption. I had to call off work today because I was dry heaving, having cold sweats and chills all night. If the lobby and bathrooms are anything to go by when it comes to cleanliness or health standards, I fear for what's lurking in the kitchen. read more

Skip the garlic bread and salad. I've had more garlic on a PBJ, and the salad is straight out of an uninspired bag. That said: good gracious, eat some entrees!
