Dining out with a 3-month-old and a 2-year-old can be stressful, but Dante made it feel effortless. Jen greeted us and quickly got us seated, graciously accommodating our oversized stroller without making us feel like we were in the way. That first impression matters. Our server Paul was a true professional. The best way I can describe him is that he represents what hospitality should be. Attentive without hovering, knowledgeable without being pretentious, and genuinely invested in making sure we had a great experience. His wine recommendation of a Barbera d'Asti with the braised beef completely surprised me in the best way. What really impressed me was Jen checking back in after seating us to help get our toddler's order in quickly. She read the situation perfectly while we were managing both kids. That awareness is what separates good service from great service. We've been to Dante a couple of times now. The first time was for a wine tasting event that our friends invited us to. It was a fun event with good wine and complimentary margherita pizza. Some slices were great, though a few had burnt crust. We came back another time to check out their happy hour. Came here for a business dinner and was thoroughly impressed! I had an old fashioned for my adult beverage, I shared a mushroom pizza and brussel sprouts with my co worker and everything was Amazing! The drink was made perfectly, the peppers on the pizza gave it a tad bit of spice, they had a nice amount of mushrooms and the sauce on the pizza was flavorful. We took my family here for a birthday dinner and the experience was sub par. Service was mediocre, we had to send back one if the drinks as it tasted like lemon pledge. Food was ok, with two of the dished being near unedible. Now add in an average of $70 a person and recommending a 40%(!!!) tip. The ambiance was pretty basic and the wine smelled like lighter fluid. Unfortunately, our service was very slow at first. As the restaurant began to clear out, our server did a better job at getting to us. For a drink, I ended up ordering a Cosmo, which quite honestly was one of the best I've ever had, so hats off to the bartender there! For our group of three, we ordered Brussel sprouts for our appetizer and two pizzas. The sprouts had decent flavor. Our pizzas (Margherita and Polpette) were unfortunately extremely soggy in the middle and couldn't be eaten as a handheld The flavors were decent, but the texture really brought things down. We ordered two desserts to share and they very kindly gifted one to us as we were celebrating a birthday! I would still love to give Dante another try in the future. Still one of our favorite spots in Omaha. The staff is so welcoming and the food is superb. It's a cozy oasis serving up a taste of Italy. Had a decent meal at Dante's last weekend. The wood fired pizza was delicious. But the overall experience has gone downhill SIGNIFICANTLY since my last visit. The service left a lot to be desired and was the worst by far. They were quasi busy. But not line-out-the-door busy. We had reservations and the entryway is extremely cramped. We stood there for several minutes before the two at the front even acknowledged us. I guess having worked in customer service... the right thing would have been to at least acknowledge us, then say you'll be right with us. But there was zero acknowledgement. It was like we were invisible. By the time we got seated, our waiter was equally as rude, dismissive and slow. It was at least 10 minutes before he took our drink order and 30+ minutes before he took our food order. We split an order or brussel sprouts and the only flavor you could taste was the char. I love that they are accredited by the Neapoltian Pizza Associated (AVPN), so you know that you are getting real, authentic Neapolitan Pizza. We tried the fried squid which was excellent- crispy and spicy with a good balance of flavor. Their pizzas are Neapolitan style so have a crunchy thin crust. I really appreciated that they have multiple dairy free and vegan opinions for their pizza. They also offer cauliflower crust for individuals who are gluten free. Other people in our party enjoyed the braised short rib and said it was very good! We love Dante. Casual dinner, late lunch, date night, special occasion, we will use any reason to eat here. We love their wine, cocktails, gelato, red pizzas, their creamy honey dripped cheese, charcuterie, when it's on the menu-the seasonal risotto and burrata. Unless it's a slow night (which is rare ) it's often loud and energetic, so be prepared for that. The only disappointment-and it's intermittent-is the wait staff. Some of their younger wait staff are moody, aloof, unskilled at interacting with others and inattentive. Some of their more mature staff have just plain forgotten our orders. Tonight my husband and I visited Dante for the first time, and I can't say we will return anytime soon. We were moderately dressed, and both my husband and I noticed the male manager gave me the "once over twice" as though I was not dressed to their standard. I'm not sure what standard that is, as there were several tables in CWS baseball gear. This same manager was seen asking other tables with older patrons how their meal was but he never came and checked on our table. I had the Monterroso pizza. It's a white pizza with fingerling potatoes and rosemary. These flavors were great, but the crust was nothing to write home about. My husband had the bolognese. He said it was good, not great. Ultimately, I think the concept of Dante used to be something really unique in Omaha. But now with places like Via Farina, Dolomiti, and Lyles who make incredible dishes and have fantastic service, I wouldn't waste my time or money on Dante again, which is more expensive than any of the aforementioned locations. The average food on top of the dismissive attitude left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

I can see us becoming regular's here. We snuck in during their lunch happy hour from 2-5pm for an afternoon date and Marcus took great care of us. What drew my wife to this Italian restaurant was the daily harvested salad. For me? I had my eyes on the wood fired pizza until I was talked into the meatball sub...which was terrific! I took a chance on their roast thyme cocktail with rosemary gin and thyme liquor - a delicious combination and a refreshing tartness to the umami of the meatball sub. FOOD : For starters,I automatically love any restaurant a little more when they talk about quality. Dante works with local farmers and gets local produce, and on top of that has double O flour! Just knowing they source locally and have european quality flour, not to mention cooking in olive oil instead of hydrogenated seed oils -- i mean, say less. It's BOUND to be delicious. We started out with their salad and it was divine, loved that it was lightly dressed and had just the right amount of everything. We got the margherita pizza and the Amore Di Carni pizza and didn't regret one bite! Everything was fresh, light, and it wasn't too oily to where it made the pizza soggy. We ate a pizza each & left feeling full but not sick -- that just goes to show how important quality is! Everything tasted fresh out of the garden and the crust was absolutely delicious ; toasted but so soft and tender. I liked how the margherita wasn't too sweet - the sauce was perfect. The amore di carni was a nice addition for a more savory and mildly spicy mix up. We truly loved them both so much! We ended with the brownie and gelato... truth be told, this place would've had my 5 stars if it weren't for the dessert. The gelato was delicious, the brownie however... massive disappointment. It's very different than traditional pizza. I had the Monterosso pizza, and the mozzarella tasted super fresh, but I found out I do not like Rosemary, so I didn't enjoy my pizza. My parents had the Bianco pizza, and both said it was much spicier than expected. My brother had the Alborosie pizza and ate the whole pizza. He loved it. I would say it's worth a try, especially if you like basil, rosemary, or oregano or are looking for something different. It's worth a try! read more
