This was a terrible experience. I saw the good reviews and, since my husband and I were staying at Hotel Zaza nearby, we decided to get our hair styled before my sister's wedding. Unfortunate mistake. 1. My husbands hair was cut terribly. It was uneven all over the place and the poor guy was feeling miserable. Worst part was his stylist had a nasty attitude and just wanted to shove him out of her chair and it didn't seem like she even had another appointment waiting. She was just rude. 2. They wanted to up charge me on every little thing. Now, we were visiting from Los Angeles, so I'm used to expensive hair cuts but doubling the price because I want a blow dry after the trim?!! It was just crazy. Ultimately, my trim was fine, but the blow out, which I paid through the nose for, was pathetic. It was flimsy, sad, and had no volume. I got a haircut at this place for the first time and regret it so much! Azam cut my hair and she did a horrible job! Literally half of my head had one haircut and the other another choppy haircut. When I told her she messed my hair up she still wanted to fix it. Hell no! I went to my regular hair dresser at visible changes and she fixed my hair now I have a beautiful bob. She is so so sweet, she will look at your vision or inspo and talk you through what she would do/ what would look better! I recommend Azi highly. After a couple of cuts where I was a little conservative with what I asked for, I asked for a bolder cut and a more complex color and highlight style. She did exactly what I wanted! And she talks me through what she's doing and what choices we need to make. As a teacher, I can't spend as much on my hair as I'd like to, and Azi helps me figure out a good plan for maintenance cut and color so I get go a few months without the full color/highlight treatment and still feel good about my hair. read more

I am terrible about keeping hair stylists. So bad that I'm honestly scared to get my hair cut now, because it's either going to be terrible, or it'll be amazing and then the stylist is going to retire/move/quit hair/go back to school. No lie, I've been through 7 stylists in the past 5 years, and it's gotten so old. That being said, I've tried a lot of places and stylists, and I've decided that I don't want to pay $75 +tip for a haircut anymore. So It was about that time when I'm searching for a new place to try, because my last haircut was just ok, and I'd rather try to find a permanent solution to decrease the anxiety I have about getting my hair cut. SH Salon is in the HEB shopping center, so I'm nearby at least once a week grocery shopping. They also have groupons regularly, so if you're a savvy shopper check out the website for sales. I had Mariam as my stylist, and she was amazing! Absolutely love my haircut, and she was so friendly and nice to talk to while she was doing my hair. I also appreciate that she stayed after her shift to get me in, without an appointment, because I couldn't come back later that week (I was going out of town). She used minimal products on my hair, which I appreciate because I personally don't use too much each day. The oil she put in my hair smelled so good that I bought a bottle- I use argon oil after I wash my hair to keep it soft and bouncy, but this stuff smelled amazing! Prices for the cut and oil were lower than I expected, and the quality of both surpassed my expectations so I'm very happy with my experience. I'll be coming back to Mariam again soon! read more

He suggested to try this location again since we were happy with my last experience. So I did, I scheduled an appointment and was matched with Cristina. I get there and the lady that was taking care for the salon informed me that Kat call out sick and that she try calling me but someone put down my information wrong. How is that my problems!? This salon happens to be near my house and I have no idea why I never came before. I had a last minute errand on Xmas eve to do my hair and she accommodated me. WITHOUT AN APPOINTMENT!!! Stellar customer service. amazing job on color and hair. the entire complex shut down but she didn't rush or do a crappy job. so excited for my holiday now with good hair. Not only that I just found out they also do threading!!! no more long hauls to Hillcroft for me!! And haircuts ... the blow dry quality is better than all the dry bars that put so much product and weigh down hour hair!! I am new to Houston and very nervous to try my 3rd hair salon for a cut and color. I visited this salon on Saturday and just planned on getting a cut since my color is difficult to do and the last salon I tried completely messed it up. AZI IS WONDERFUL! She was so knowledgeable about hair and was very honest on what should and shouldn't be done. I ended up with a cut, color, and keratin treatment and WOW! Awful! Awful! Awful!!!! I called and specifically said 3 times I want a haircut. They said of course, we can schedule you. Go in for my appointment and have my hair washed and tell them how I want it cut and she looks at me like I'm an idiot. She goes to get the manager and they are telling me they can reschedule for another day as you scheduled a wash and blow dry. I said, no, I said I wanted it cut and you even repeated back to me a hair cut, I can blow dry my hair at home. They obviously have no clue what is going on. I will not be going back and do not recommend them to anyone!!!! read more

This place doesn't even deserve a one star. Is there a zero star available? I hadn't cut my hair in three years in the hopes of donating it. So, when I went to this salon it was about two inches below my bum. I'm 5'4". I specifically grew it that long so I'd have some length even after donating 10 inches and I made that clear to Christy. I'm just not that comfortable nor can I rock short hair like other people. Christy's the manager but she also dresses hair or should I say, UNDRESSES hair. I asked Christy to cut 10 inches because I wanted to donate it and then to layer it into a V. She took the liberty of cutting two more inches because SHE felt like it. But I was fine with it because my hair was to the middle of my back still. However, the layers were very choppy and looked like the steps of a ladder instead. She then said she could fix it. So of she went, without wedding my hair first. Goodness, her trying to "fix it" was more like trying very hard to ruin it. She kept saying "I won't take any length off" but she did. It was now to the top of my shoulders but in a straight V. The front parts were uneven. The right side was a lot longer than the left. Just then, her next appointment came in. She asked me to come back so she could fix it some more. She said that this time she knew exactly what to do. When I got home, I saw the horror of what sure had done and debated if I should go back. I decided by now she knew my hair best and had even told me that she could fix it. So I did. When I got to the salon, she said "my mother always told me that the horse that's lazy has to work twice as hard. I didn't wet your hair earlier, so that's why it came out uneven." She again said she wouldn't take any length off and proceeded to "fix it". The end result was hair that was now really short. The longest part was up to my collar bone and the other parts above my chin. It was a complete disaster! I asked her what she called this cut because it looked like i had just received a mullet. She said, "shag cut". OMG! She gave me a freakin SHAG! I usually get over mishaps pretty quickly but I'm writing this after more than three weeks of stewing. I want to help someone else avoid the worst haircut of their lives. In junior high (mind you I'm now in my early thirties, so I've had many cuts since then), my friends and I used to cut each others hair to save money. By golly, my friend back then, without any professional experience is like a GURU of hair stylists compared to Christy. And I can't believe I paid $52! The salon itself isn't that great. Let alone asking if the water temperature is OK, they don't even try to understand what it is that you want with your new haircut. They do whatever the heck they want. Go some place else if you want a haircut that's current and not stuck in the eighties. Or unless you want to go home with a SHAG cut. read more

I got a Groupon for this place, I am so glad I did, the place does look like your average hair salon nothing fancy but the service... The service is outstanding!!!! The owner of this place, a nice, friendly Colombian lady, she does wonders with the scissors, I was able to see her cut the hair of a couple of costumers while I had my highlights done and she did a neat job, great stylist. The lady that took care of me, she is from Iran and she did an excellent job too, highlights and hair cut were done wonderfully.
