Hands down best biryani in the western suburbs. This is the real deal right here. They've been open 7 months now and I've been 4 times. Super clean spot. Great family service. They took me in the back when a fresh batch was coming out.. amazing. If you like it spicy or more "juicy" just ask for more or extra "masala." They serve it with the yogurt mint traditional raita (yogurt sauce) as well as the traditional earthy brown chutney... but this biryani is so perfect that you don't even need chutney. The family value pack is the best value at $20. There is no way you can only have one plate of this beloved delicacy we call BIRYANI! The greatest rice dish ever made!!!!! I am of Chinese/Caucasian descent and did not grow up eating this type of food. But wow, was I blown away by the tastiness of this food! I got the chicken and rice dish, can't quite remember what it was called but that plate was cleaner than a Will Smith rap album by the time I was done with it. I was the only one there at that moment. Two teens took my order who I believe have zero experience in customer service. I support family and local businesses but you have to give me a reason to. They barely communicated with me, I didn't even know if they placed my food until 5 minutes later when I asked. Next is the quality of the food. Food was below average, I ordered some rolls and bihari kabob and the bihari kabob is not the traditional kind. The rolls were packed with onions and the meat wad just okay. Today stopped by for lunch with my son. Ordered Shaahi mixed grill with garlic naan. The grill consisted of lamb chops, sheek kabob, marinated tandoor grilled fish, tandoori chicken and 3 to 4 other kabobs. It tasted phenomenal. Each type of kabob had different spices and their unique taste and all of them were very tender and juicy. If the garlic naan was any lighter, it would float away. Hands down the tastiest kabobs and naan I tasted in Chicagoland. Highly recommend this restaurant if you have a taste for authentic Indian kabobs. Terrible service. My 76 year old elderly father has some incontinence issues and mild form of dementia. He had to use the restroom and my mother took him in after ordering food. My father made a mess unfortunately in the bathroom and tried to clean up to the best of his ability. My parents left the restaurant after getting the food and then get numerous phone calls from the restaurant to pay $35 for cleaning the bathroom. He kept harassing my mother on the phone after my mom apologized and explained my dads situation. He was very rude to her and not sympathetic at all. My mom doesnt mind paying the $35, but the way he handled it was unprofessional and pathetic. He kept asking my mom to transfer the money or give a credit card over the phone without listening to my mother's explaination of the situation. All he cared about was the money. My mother promised him she would pay the $35 and as Muslims we dont break our promises. The food may be ok, but as service goes; they are terrible and care all about the money. Dont show any compassion to long time customers. As a Muslim restaurant owner you should be ashamed of yourself for treating my fellow Muslim parents the way you did. This is the 2nd time I've ordered from Shaahi Biryani and I have had trouble both times. They publish that you can pre-order before they open and that they will contact me once they open, but I pre-ordered and my food was not ready. In fact, they cancelled my order and told me to place my order again! It was a large order and I was on the road so I wasn't happy. The biggest aggravation is that they are so overpriced! They charged me $11 for 2 seekh kabobs. When I asked why there were only 2 pieces in a single order, they said "we cut 2 kabobs in half so that's 4 pieces". Same thing with chapli kabob. The young man behind the counter does not care about customer service one bit. I seriously can't believe this place. Do not go here if you don't want to get ripped off! read more

Very bad.. We ordered catering for Team Lunch in office and paid good amount. Samosa .. spoiled already. Butter Paneer.. there is hardly any paneer in that. Bhindi Masala... very bad.. Chicken Haleem.. not at all tasty.. All the Items are Oily.. I wont recommend this to any of my friends. Please dont give this type of food when we are taking it for team lunches.. I had one the most traumatizing experiences of my life at Shahi Biryani (Glendale Heights) restaurant today. Ordered two biryani's (1 chicken, 1 goat) and one chicken 65 - togo. Picked up the order and after reaching home and getting ready to eat the biryani, i realized they never gave me the dahi and chatni and also that the goat biryani had about 3 pieces of meat. Drove back to the restaurant asked for the dahi & chatni and gave them the goat biryani telling them there is not enough meat.(this isnt the first time - twice before we had called them with the same issue and one can also read similar reviews from other customers here on google). A couple minutes later the owner comes out and tells me i am lying by shouting in to my face - he says thats not how they pack their biryani because the meat was on the top - which of-course i had put on purpose so they could see how much meat they had put in the box - humans don't have meat scanners for eyes - the biryani had to be taken out - thats the only way i know there was less meat - but the guy never gave me a chance to explain, he kept jumping on to me and claiming i was lying because "thats not how they pack their biryani" but packing was not the issue, if he would have listened to me to try to understand the situation instead of jumping to a conclusion, it was a very easy situation to resolve. Felt extremely threatened by the way i was treated, at one point i thought he would hit me. After i took my refund and walked out multiple customers who witnessed the whole scenario approached me with "I'm sorry you had to go through that, thats not how they should be treating customers". I have been going to Shahi Biryani since many years and always gave them the benefit of doubt because they are in my neighborhood, but the extremely dangerous situation i was put in (apart from being called a liar) for a few pieces of meat has prompted me to not only write this review but also consider legal action. read more

Worst biryani/maandi in town and owner is very rude and they cheat you out of your money. For example: I ordered LAMB MAANDI and what we got was plain rice with tomato curry soaked mutton pieces.... Best nihari in the Chicagoland area. For anyone who hasn't tried it, it's a spicy beef stew that you eat with naan (fresh cooked bread). It's famous in Pakistan and India. We had Shaahi Biryani cater our iftaar party during Ramadan and everyone was really happy with the food. This is a really authentic Hyderabadi restaurant which was referred to my husband by a wedding caterer. We ordered Goat Marag, Chili Chicken, Chicken Biryani, Mirchi ka Salan, and Raita. My favorite was the chili chicken. It had the perfect amount of spice and flavor plus the consistency was perfect when paired with naan. Our special order was goat marag and I'm so glad they agreed to make it for us as it's not an item on their catering menu. I would say there is some room for improvement for the marag. It was very close to how my mother makes it, but it was lacking something which I can't put a word to. Chicken biryani was pleasantly authentic. It reminded me of the biryani in Hyderabadi weddings made by a bawarchi. In all, I would have them cater many more events as the food is deliciously Hyderabadi , the service they provided was courteous, and their prices are reasonable. read more

Great Pakistani restaurant in the suburbs! We (myself, fiance, sister and mother) were greeted and seated right away, even though there were quite a few large parties already seated. Water was bought to the table right away. We had to wait a little bit for our order to be taken, but once we ordered, the food came out pretty quickly. It was amazing! You could tell the food was made fresh to order. The staff were friendly and very helpful when asked about catering options. Our total bill was very reasonable for the amount of food we ordered ($44 without tip for biryani, chicken 65, behndi, naan, apollo fish). Devon and other Pakistani/Indian restaurants can be dirty, low quality, and rude staff. Shaahi Biryani was the opposite. I was impressed with the cleanliness and decoration. It's also great/important that they use Zabiha meat. Can't wait to try some of their other dishes and their weekend brunch specials. read more

Worst service I've received in a long time. We arrived at the restaurant at 6:00 pm on Sunday 06/24/18. I took my family of 5 out for my wife's birthday dinner. When we got there, they had a table that was already reserved & we were asked to sit with another family that had some seats available. We refused, so we're seated in a small table & had to squeeze all 5 of us. When we asked for menu, we're told that party before us had taken all menus & was brought 1 trifold paper menu. We tried to order chicken pakora, was told they didn't have them, we tried Kachori & was told again they didn't have them. We ordered French fries. When asked for Lamb Biryani, once again we're told they didn't have it. We ended ordering Butter Chicken, Naans & Kabab plater. we asked for water while waiting & was brought warm water. Asked for some ice & were told they did not carry ice, finally were brought some cold water. Appetizers were brought in decent time, however plater & butter chicken took some time. No one checked on us (not even once). We had to ask for onions, cucumbers & some lemons. After 30 mins, they brought Goat Biryani (which we did not order), I told them we don't eat goat & that we order family pack chicken biryani. They took the goat biryani & never returned. After waiting for another 30 mins I went up to the counter to have they biryani packed. For $95 bill, we received horrible service. Will never go back. read more
