Her name is Amy so we called and requested her and they got us in at 5pm when they opened. She was incredible. World class service! The Dim Sum and some Ngiri were the perfect starters. Then we went to the Chef's Pot and the Curry Noodle dish for entrees. Both were delicious and mouth watering. I don't even know where to start. Best culinary experience. If you have the chance, sit at the sushi bar. Tim, CJ, and Arvin will take wonderful care of you and direct your entire journey through the menu if you let them. This restaurant and the people there are gems. Amy was incredible and checked on us numerous times as well. As my boyfriend said, this was the best dinner and a show ever. We were thoroughly entertained and our palates could not have been happier. Musts: Shishito peppers, green beans- dear lord. Any crudo Tim dreams up- just go with it! The ceviche is a mix of a ceviche and a poke; so fresh, clean, and delicious. The Kobe and wagyu on the hot rock are hot to be missed. We ordered a second round. So fun and the food was surprisingly good! It's fusion so kind of eclectic. Not actually a shabu shabu place but they have one "shabu" option which is a bunch of stuff cooked in a clay pot (comes out already cooked). We ordered that and it was soooo good! The day we were there it was scallops and shrimp with veggies and udon noodles yum! The sashimi was fresh (we asked the sushi chef which were the freshest of the day). Don't order nigiri though the rice is not good (dry). The atmosphere was fun and drinks were good! We sat at the sushi bar, the sushi chefs were so friendly and love their jobs. The service was awful. The host was not polite in a way that hosts normally are. We had a reservation and still ended up waiting. There was a group who knew the host, and they were getting VIP, top notch service, while my group of 4 was treated like crap. It took forever for us to order... the server seemed to judge us and treat us like she did not care. At the end we wanted our bill split up and she ordered us to give all of our cards to her, we asked if she remembered what each person got.. she replied with a smirking "no". We proceeded to ask how she was going to charge us for our food and she just shrugged... The food was alright, but lacked in flavor. The food is why I give this establishment 2 stars. Creative menu and cocktail list, I had the lychee sake drink, reminded me almost of a last word, I do wish I swapped out the vodka for gin or a mezcal to add another layer to the drink, but it was great nonetheless. This place just wasn't worth it. We had a reservation, but the kitchen was backed up and they couldn't make any modifications. I didn't think much about it at the time because our requests were simple like adding jalapeños to the side, but later this really surprised me. Even though the sushi rolls were ordered in groups (for example, three people at the end wanted to share rolls) they brought out all the rolls mixed together. This wouldn't have been a big deal, but we ordered the rolls in a specific way and the waitress never mentioned that she wouldn't be able to accommodate the request. Then on top of that, nobody could tell us what roll was what. They would say one thing and then when we asked where a certain roll was, they would backtrack and change everything they said. So all in all, we had no idea what we were eating. The sushi was not worth the price. The entrees and appetizers fell short. I'm not sure I would come back even for a second chance. read more

We started with the samurai scallops appetizer, which was pretty close to 5 stars, they were excellent, but that's as good as it got. We then ordered two sushi rolls, the coco loco and the honey roll. The coco loco was awful, basil does not pair well with sushi rolls, and the fish tasted off. The honey roll was okay, nothing great, I recommend going elsewhere for sushi. I ordered caramelized cod, and it was pretty tasty but swimming in thick sugary sauce. This place is amazing!! My husband and I ate at Shabu two nights ago and what an experience we had. The food was high quality & delicious (we are picky about Japanese & Chinese food as we previously lived in Los Angeles next to an area with a high Chinese/Asian population / ate authentic Szechuan & Japanese food all the time and thus are picky) and the service was phenomenal . Janelle, the hostess was extremely friendly / accommodating and fun and Iggy, the bartender was super fun as well and great positive energy . They truly made us feel like we were at home and we walked away making new friends! Food wise, again great quality and in terms of specific dishes, I'd recommend the hot rocks (with wagyu beef) and the hot pot dish. Super delic! The Truth is the food is bad enough to be worthy of 2 stars but then they go and excel in making your dinning experience an awkward one. First they have the balls to ask for your credit card to secure tour reservation but when you get there on time, not only your table is not ready but they dare to say "go for a drink somewhere and come back in a half hour or so..." really, that was said!!! When you do get seated this rude waiter tells you what HE wants YOU to eat... he declared the two most expensive dishes as the "world's Best" and then when we didn't chose them at first, he insiste we should have them and again and again, since we did not bite he got mad and took his time putting in the order and the "cheaper $25 noodles" he didn't even bother. When the food came, it proved him right what we ordered was not good, it was lame, tasteless and shallow. They never came back to clear the table and another 1/2 hour to ring the check. While we were excited when we booked our trip to Park City and saw there was a Shabu restaurant, we were greatly disappointed. They had removed Shabu Shabu from the menu, supposedly due to Covid, yet the server did not know. While we thoroughly enjoyed our cocktails, spring rolls, and the Hot Rock Wagyu beef, the ramen and salad were a disappointment. The ramen was room temperature at best and was grossly overpowered through and through by the kimchi. The salad needed more dressing to taste more than just arugula. The service was not great. While eating our spring rolls, a busier came by and grabbed our plate to remove. She seemed out of sorts and said she does that all the time and was sorry. Our sever checked in with us from time to time, but didn't seem to apologize for the nearby drunken party, vulgarity, or cold food. The noise level was so loud we could barely converse. There was a large part of women at a nearby table that were enjoying themselves, heavily drinking, and even swearing aloud. Their server just kept offering and serving them more drinks. This was not at all what we had hoped for with regards to food, service, and ambiance. We won't return to this restaurant. read more

Outstanding! The employees are fun, kind and quick to serve. The food is fresh, flavorful, artistic, and tasty. We ordered the vegetable tempura, which was fresh and with a perfect layer of crispy tempura. The spicy yellowtail works so well as freestyle sashimi with peppers providing the spice, a light vinaigrette and fresh lettuce and other vegetables. The beef shabu was amazing and just want my wife craved. She said the broth was a good balance of base and seasoning. The Egg Foo Yung is crispy and savory. Enjoy! My husband and I ate here on our first trip to Park City and this was our best meal of the week. The restaurant is very small, and we squeezed into a very tight table but the experience was worth it. Our waitress was full of amazing personality. And the food was creative, full of flavor and fresh. It was a pricey dinner but one we truly felt like we got what we paid for which we could not say for some other meals. We enjoyed the yellowtail jalapeño, Japanese wagyu cooked on a hot rock (amazing), firecracker shrimp which were light and so tasty. We also had ramen and some sushi rolls which we could not finish. This is the first negative review I have ever bothered to write but well deserved. We had a good, meal at Shabu during our week in PC. The service we friendly but poor. Since we enjoyed the food, we decided to do take out our last night. When we got back to our condo we discovered they got a roll wrong so we called... they made the correct roll which we had to go back to get. Mistakes happen and they acknowledged that they got it wrong. They said they would refund for the wrong item (which was a little more than what we ordered). They never did. We called a few days later and spoke with Juli the manager. She had a bit of attitude and said we were given a choice (not true) to either return the roll or get a new one as if food safety laws would allow that. She refused to take off the original roll as promised or even make an adjustment as the one they mistakenly prepared was more expensive. They made a mistake that inconvenienced us, overcharged us as a result and refused to even correct the small overcharge- never mind anything as a courtesy. Since Juli as the manager seemed to represent the restaurant poorly, I asked her to have the owner call me. She said she would pass that along but didn't know if he would call. I told Juli that if I didn't hear from them or see an adjustment for being over charged, I would write a review here and take it up with our credit card company. This is not about the food- it is about being willfully overcharged for their mistake. Appalling. read more
