This place is really good but it can get pricey quick! I've been here twice and both times really great! Try it out!

Came here on a Sunday around 6pm with 4 people and had an expected wait time of 45-60mins. We ended up waiting only 30 mins. The AYCE Shabu Shabu is $25.99 with 8 options of meat and 6 options of broth. Out of the four of us, three ordered the Tonkotsu broth and one ordered the Spicy Miso broth (the two most popular broths). For meat, we tried all of them besides the lamb leg (we just had lamb leg for Christmas and weren't craving it). The meat standouts for us were #1 through #4 (Wagyu Toro, Flat Iron Steak, Shabuya Rib Eye and Wagyu Beef Round). Super thinly cut meats that were amazingly fresh. The only complaint here is that the orders were pretty small - we only got one to two slices of meat per order after splitting them four ways. In the middle of the restaurant there is food bar with add ins (seafood, noodles, veggies sauces, etc.). The food bar was well stocked and had plenty of options. The highlights were definitely the sauces - the Goma (sesame) and the Asian Chili sauce in particular (dip your meat in a combo of these for sure). The service here is bomb.com - as soon as we put our meats in the broth to cook, they were back again to take our next order. There were a couple of instances where we felt neglected, but the majority of the time the service was amazing and had great tips and tricks on what to order. Would be back again for sure! Tried this place out with a large group of friends for a birthday last night 12/17 and was not disappointed! Our server Tracy was super attentive, we never ran low on meat, soup or drinks. I love the concept of this place! Individual hot pots where everyone can add whatever they like/ nothing they dislike. This was especially useful to me because my boyfriend is terribly allergic of shellfish and I LOVE shellfish. I tried the original broth and bumped it up with some soy sauce, Yuzu sauce, garlic and onions and it was AMAZING. The only reason I am deducting 2 stars is because the host whose name I didn't get, but the only one in a white shirt that day was biting on her acrylic nails right in front of the door and then proceeded to set a table without washing/sanitizing her hands, ew!! I have no problems with servers having fake nails, but to bite on them and then handle clean silverware for customers? Disgusting. Thankfully she wasn't setting our table, but still!! Regardless, I'm still going to return with my family, but I hope management takes action to ensure cleanliness. read more

While things were open my girlfriends and I decided to go here and we were left wanting more even though we were soo full! Come on an empty stomach! The selection of creating your own hot pot is wide and of amazing fresh quality. We were newbies to the experience and felt right at home with how the servers explained the flavors and ways to create a hot pot. 12/10 will go again and waiting for them to re open! read more

Love the self service bar! You can grab your own veggies, seafood, noodles, and sauce. I always enjoy customizable options. Service was exceptional here! We barely had to wait on our meats and our server was very attentive. Even other staff were quick to take away empty plates or check up on us. They were all very polite and smiled and used eye contact when speaking. There were also other staff I saw constantly keeping the buffet bar clean or cleaning the floor from spills. My favorite item here was the short rib. Great marbling on some pieces we had. The beef toro was great as well. I was pleasantly surprised they had blue crab and it was good too. I just wished they had imitation crab or fish balls with roe inside. Then my meal would have been perfect! I look forward to coming back here again. read more

Love the concept of this hot pot! Glad that there's restaurants like Shabuya popping up in Concord. Otherwise, you can find me at Shabu House in the city. I really like the serve your self idea with the vegetables & seafood. No need to bother the waiters to order this, but you do need to bother them to order your meat, which is limited to 4 meats per order. The vegetables are fresh, which I appreciate. There's a variety of vegetables, but not an ample amount. Some include: enoki mushrooms, napa cabbage, spinach, broccoli. Seafood include shrimp with head on, fish balls, shrimp balls, mussels, clams, & itty bitty crab legs. Other selections that I enjoyed were the ramen noodles, clear noodles, the potstickers. What I didn't like is that some.. most of the signs designating what the food is were almost all missing. Granted I knew most, but I need to know what type of ball I'm grabbing. Wait list is super long /For dinner more than an hour/ but still worth. Good for cold season

The broth had zero flavor. I'm used to tonkotsu that's rich, fatty, flavorful, etc. but the tonkotsu here wasn't any of those. It basically tasted like white water. Even when simmered down, it just tasted like water. We tried the other broths and they weren't any better. Even the miso one tasted like water! I'm wondering if we were supposed to season it ourselves? We've been to a ton of other Shabu place across the Bay Area and they all served broths that were seasoned and ready to go. Aside from that, the staff was friendly and the restaurant was nice inside. The individual cookers are a great alternative to sharing. I liked the Hot Pot City-esk buffet style for veggies and seafood. A lot more efficient than other Shabu places where you have to order that stuff every time you want more. Only thing missing was flavor from the broth. Once they fix that, this place is a slam dunk. read more

We were looking forward to trying this place. There was no host/hostess to greet us for a few minutes. We got seated and no one came to our table for at least ten minutes. It seemed the air conditioning wasn't working properly. Server finally came and was so soft spoken we could barely hear her over the music. We told her we'd never been before and her reply was to bring us more menus for some reason. Food was fine. After our first round, it was at least 30 minutes before we could flag someone down to bring more meat ( the server was on the cell phone). We ended up with different servers between breaks and the second one informed us he had to leave to go to a job interview. Disappointed. It was kind of dirty and the restrooms were dirty as well. This is a great AYCE Hot Pot spot. We went for my sister's birthday and the food was delicious. My electric stove didn't work so they provided a gas one for me which actually worked better! They have a good selection of meats that they provide you and a salad bar with seafood, noodles and veggies that you can get. Staff is friendly and nice! I came on opening day and have to say I really enjoyed it! I'm glad they finally opened up a shabu restaurant in the area! It is located in the new Veranda shopping center so it is in a great area, parking can be hard to find. We were seated right away (but it was opening day... I can see this place getting packed during dinner and on the weekends). It is all you can eat and for dinner it is ~$25/pp. you get your own bowl and get to choose the items that go into your bowl from the center buffet. The meat and soup you order from the waiter/ess and they bring them from the back. They had a great selection of veggies, a HUGE variety of noodles and also seafood/eggs to add to your soup. The sauces are a wide variety too and you can mix and make your own concoction! The meat is great quality, looked fresh and they have a lot of different cuts. The staff were coming around frequently to bus empty plates and to refill water. As for the environment, it was spacious and clean. I like that you don't feel like you're elbow to elbow like some restaurants can be. For an all you can eat restaurant I am impressed and can't wait to come back again! read more

New review, during the COVID contra costa re-opening in March, we decided to come back as we missed this place, very surprised, and not in a good way. They claim it's "all you can eat" but the buffet is limited. The price also seems raised from pre covid. The server took 30 mins to come to the table. Service was not great at all. One of our burners barely worked and the canister was ejected from another and it took them a while to replace it. Some of the meat was really chewy and tasted like leather. Some of it was fine. The Chicken karage didn't arrive until the end of the meal and only after we requested it again. All in all, not worth the wait. Which was 1.5hrs, then getting seated and waiting another 30 mins for the server. This place doesn't have it together. Which is a shame because we used to love coming here... read more

This place is new and interesting but this is not a 4.5 star shabu shabu restaurant:( Theres 2 meat options that arent reminiscent of the 3rd plate of meat at other shabu shabu restaurants that they give to you when they're ready for you to leave. The only difference is they slice it SO THIN here that it doesnt have a chance to get chewy. When we got there the waiter seemed confused and told us that we could only order 1 plate of meat PER TABLE. We were confused but ordered the ribeye and were delivered 4 slivers of beef. We wouldnt get any more meat for 15+ minutes. That's pretty much how the rest of the visit went. Eat 4 bites of meat, sit around looking for a server for 10 or so minutes and then repeat. The broth is okay but it was 10 minutes before we left when I finally found someone to refill my boyfriends empty broth pot. The veggie options were okay, nothing special. There were several noodle option which was appreciated. The buffet seafood and fish ball selections seemed like a decent selection. We wont go again. If you're going with a group of friends who plan to talk more than eat then the wait may not be an issue. read more

Looks like I found my newest favorite place! -The wait- 5/5 *Came here for dinner on a Friday night with 9 people in my group and were told we were gonna be seated after 30-45 minutes but if we chose to do 8 person seating then it'll be quicker, so we jumped on that option. I got the message for my table at 7:57 pm and got seated at like 8:16 pm so it was quicker than we expected. The best thing is we only paid for 8 person and not 9 (maybe because 2 people had to share). -The food- 5/5 * I ordered the sukiyaki and liked it a lot. I like my food on the sweet and savory side so this was the best for me. * I also made myself a dipping sauce with 2 serving spoon of yuzu sauce + 1 serving spoon of the garlic and + little bit of cilantro and green onions and it just worked so well with the meats! *We repeated 1-5 on the meats section until we couldn't eat anymore and it was the best decision. The meats were just so tender and flavorful! *seafood, veggies and noodles buffet sections for those who wants them in their pot--I like my meats but my bf wanted some veggies and fishballs so we got em. *the Capri soju was also good and worth for $7.50. I got myself a lychee one and it paired well with the food. It's like 2 shots according to our server (I wish I remembered his name cause he was nice!) so if you drink at the beginning you'll be all sobered up at the end of your meal and you probably won't get drunk either lol just a nice refreshing drink. -The service-5/5 Our main server, I didn't get his name but he's Filipino, he was really good! The food wasn't bad. There's really nothing that sets it apart from other hotpot/shabu shabu restaurants. Although I see why having separate broths is beneficial for certain people due to allergies or preferences I feel like there was limited choices compared to other places. Scallops, different mushroom choices, etc. Would be nice additions. The plain chicken karaage (without sauce) wasn't seasoned. What really makes this place standout is the level of service we received from #Yaki. We were very well attended to and she engaged with us on a level that made us feel welcome and not just another table. The 4 star rating is purely riding on her service and if we ever crave hotpot again then we would reconsider coming back just because of her. read more

Was so excited to try to this place since I'm a huge hot pot fan! However my boyfriend found a fish net plastic in his noodles. The manager said "Sorry we don't always catch the fish nets from the seafood". I mean we're paying 25$ a person!! and They can't catch all the plastic from the fish nets! Basically tough luck if you find one in your food! However, the servers were great and the food was good. She did not offer to comp his meal, I had to be the one to ask if they can comp his meal bc of the plastic found in his food. She kindly agreed which was nice and polite of her. We easily came on the busiest day of the week, where we waited about 2 hours to get seated. Was the wait worth it though? Damn straight it was. Shabuya is the only all you can eat hot pot with a seafood bar, veggie/noodle bar, and sauce bar in the Bay Area. The seafood included unlimited blue crab, swai fish, mussels, shrimp, clams, all types of seafood balls and anything else you can think of. Plain and simple it was awesome. The veggies were solid, I was hella happy because I could get as much enoki mushroom as I wanted. For the broths I opted for the spicy miso and it was shmackin. I originally wanted the spicy Chinese broth but it wasn't available. The broth was rich and had the right amount of spicy. For the meats, the toro really stood out. The right balance of fat to meat which resulted in a memorable experience. What also made the experience memorable was the service, our waiter was attentive and literally refilled my broths every 10 minutes or so. Shabuya was well worth the wait and I'll be willing to wait another 2 hours if I have to. I'll definitely be back! read more

tl;dr OK AYCE hotpot with some +s and some easy-to-fix -s First of all, we went there on their soft opening weekend so some of the issues mentioned below may be addressed in the near future. What's good: The meats are decent quality for AYCE; seafood, veggies, etc. are self-serve; sauce station to make your own sauce; servers were attentive and orders came fast. What's not-so-good: Long wait time to be seated (~1hr, were told would be 25 mins); meats were too thinly cut and the portions were barely adequate for a party of 2; soup bases were relatively flavorless; tableware was lacking (pots are too shallow, no scoop or strainer scoop provided, basically just have a shallow pot with chopsticks and a spoon); no shacha sauce (more of a personal preference, but come on!) Most of these issues can be easily addressed, in which case the place would be a very decent choice. I plan to revisit them in a few months when they're more established and hopefully will have a better experience. read more

Came here a couple of times. Both experiences were the same. Slow service. Decent meats. Under-seasoned broth/soup. This was one of the first all-you-can-eat hot pots I've ever tried. I was super excited. You get one base broth for the entire time and I think you get to choose up to 3 or 4 meats at a time. And then whatever noodles/veggies/seafood that's in the middle. Pros: - seafood was good (I liked the octopus) - meat was actually really good. I didn't feel like the portions were that much but it makes sense to avoid waste. - veggies/noodles selection was decent Cons: - THE BROTH. It was probably the biggest let-down. No flavor whatsoever. It was so bland, I had to add SO much crap into it to make it taste like something other than water. I ordered the spicy miso and it tasted like water with a bit of heat? But not really. The broth being the biggest component to hot pot in my opinion being so bland and flavorless made me never want to come back Overall, not the best. Not the worst. Would I come back? Probably not. Restaurant was dearly missed on our list so here is why they got just three stars! Sone of gyoza fried dumplings were served cold and we had to ask for them several times! when Rhett our waiter went on break we froze outside waiting for our food! they sat us on outside after forty five plus minute wait plus all tables weren't even filled! Then they sat us on outside of tent and we froze twice as heaters had to have propane changed after third time! plus we had to have them change our propane little ones as our soups got cold! overall they have great food when it is served hot and when soups propane our filled properly and heaters propane our filled properly! zThis is a once a month spot so please frequent this business as they are super customer friendly and once they fix their hiccups which also included not giving us our meats to order second round it is a good restaurant which can be four to five stars once manager starts supervising lunch dining to make sure all is being served hot and promptly! Recomnended shrimp and Waygu beef, fried gyoza potsticker w ponzu sauce when served hot,, steamed rice when served hot, oyster mushrooms, bok Choy, bean sprouts, tofu, and pork broth! other thing messed up was appetizer chicken Kaye and we ordered the one that wasn't spicy yet waiter brought us spicy one! When we ordered a repeat of it no sauce it was better but stick w gyoza fried dumpling w ponzu sauce when served hot! mixup w wait staff when we had to wait fifteen minutes for food and rice got cold cuz Rhett went on break should never happen because manager should be supervising to make sure interim waitstaff act promptly when someone breaks or goes on shift change! udon noodles were a hit and the garlic, cilantro, onions on side were yummy too! If you're more about the quality of options for your hotpot, this is the place to go - if not, stop and find another hot pot place! Shabuya is a good place to get your hot pot fix with plenty of delicious meats and simple vegetables to keep your mouth and stomach satisfied. Mind you, if you're a fan of things like popping fish balls or enoki mushrooms in your soup, they don't have that here. If you like wagyu meats and loads of spinach, you'll enjoy the simple things. I ate here for outdoor seating on a pretty hot day, but I was content because a nice breeze would come by. Customer service here was good too - our server was super helpful when asked about certain options provided and also very communicative about things like technical issues in the ordering system. The place gets pretty busy, so be ready to endure some wait time. The Veranda, where the restaurant is located, has plenty of shops and businesses to explore, so that helps. Since hot pot tends to be pricey, take advantage of all the good meat! read more
